idk if this is accurate but i’ve felt like in previous seasons riz & gorgug have been one of the inter-bad kids dynamics we’ve seen the least of & this season has been so great in that aspect. gorgug having helped make some of riz’s magic gear. riz helping gorgug with his studies. the shared birthday party. gorgug’s gift to riz being something he himself made to protect riz. riz’s gift to gorgug being something he illegally grabbed to protect gorgug. gorgug who utilizes rage to put his body on the line for his friends & riz who will take deep levels of mental stress for his friends. even though it was within the context of a joke, riz calling gorgug an “absolute sweetie.” like yea they might not be in a band together or both part of a presidential campaign team or owlbears teammates, but they’d go to war for each other, because they’re best friends.

Back on my Danny & Ras frienemies/rivals/maybe-lovers-nobody-can-tell-their-signals-are-very-mixed train. 

See, Danny has gone through time a lot. Often. It comes with being Clockwork’s charge-son-thing and honestly he finds it fun. And several times he’s used this time travelling to get some training in. Enter Ras, stage left, also a teen at the time and also learning swordsmanship from the same person. 

And they… utterly despise each other. They would kill the other for an apple slice, if the other one would die! But also, only they can kill the other, as it is obviously their right! 

And well, they keep running into each other. It has been a hundred years, surely the other would die by now? But of course their rival would live through utter spite. Probably to spite them specifically. 

The amount of times they have ended up sparring- trying to kill each other or not- the moment they see the other is actually ridiculous. But time is also passing. And… Danny understands, not having another to talk about things people are forgetting, or have already forgotten. 

How they ended up actually talking without a murder attempt was a long story that included a demon, a dragon, a pair of fae, some bandits, and a lot of alcohol, but it happened. And then it happens again. And again, and now it’s just kind of normal to share a drink after their spars, talking about things that no longer exist, and things they miss. 

Sure Danny can go back in time again, but he knows better than to do it willy nilly. He’s matured, he’s been an adult for a hundred years now, he knows there’s consequences for messing with time, even with Clockwork’s blessings. 

The first time they got married was technically for an undercover assassination. Well, Ras was there to assassinate someone, Danny was there to grab an artifact that should Not be in the realm of the living. And they got divorced after, it was fine. 

They just, also got married again when they met a few years later, for another job. And… okay, so maybe they have gotten married over a dozen times now and only divorced like half of those times. Half of those were for the bit or while drunk! 

And even if technically they’re married or shared a bed, it’s not like they're exclusive! As Ras’ daughters’ existences attest to (adopted in one case or not). They don’t exactly have a label for their relationship, despite others asking for one or trying to put a name to it themselves. 

Now Danny knows Ras isn’t exactly a good dude, or at least on the side of ‘good’ as he’s a literal assassin. But he also knows that good? Bad? Rather relative. He had gotten labeled as a villain when he was just trying to help all that time ago after all, and really who was he to tell someone else how to live their life? 

Which brings him to now, where he’s run into his old frienemy-rival and his youngest daughter. Who has a braindead teenager and a small toddler. Which is fine, really- but also, Talia dear, why are you using a brain dead teenager to guard your three year old son?

Okay, Talia dear, Ras (Derogatory), why are you using your brain dead son and grandson to guard your younger son and grandson? Do you not have the Pits, which you were soo proud about Ras? Yes, he will spar with you, but for Realms’ sake, heal, what’s his name? Ah yes, go heal Jason and he’ll actually stick around for a few years, deal? Good.

Hey tumblr it’s been a while (it’s been less than a week)

stuff has happened (it has not happened)

So first of all

HE TALKED TO ME FIRST (on thursday)

So i’m head of our school’s art club and we’re working on a mural that’s located outside the choir room and in the hallway that the school xc team usually hangs out in and we had an after school club meeting for working on said mural

now i’m there drawing on the wall with the three other kids who were at the after school work time that day

and it’s like 3:40 and he was at band practice and then was hanging out with his friends in the hall and then

suddenly

he walks over to where i’m vaguely standing (not really i’m pretty sure i was up on the step stool but i got off so i could go talk to him)

and he’s like

“is this the first time you have worked on the wall this year”

and i’m like “yea it’s our first meeting working on it. why do you ask?”

“well it hadn’t changed and i was wondering if it was going to. have you worked on it at all in the last three months?”

and i’m like “well when/how were we going to. we haven’t been at school!”

“well i don’t know.”

i’m pretty sure there was more to the conversation (i think i asked him another question but i don’t remember it rn) and just

yea the conversation was really not a conversation

but!! he talked to me!! he technically initiated it with me!!!! He reciprocated my teasing!!!!

i’m just so enamored by him it’s kinda a problem

and THEN

on fridayyyyy choir was doing the chapel and he was on the stage singing with the volunteer ensemble and it really does not mean thatt much but it means a lot to me bc the confidence to be on stage singing is important to me

anyways i was playing the piano and ya know made a few mistakes bc i literally got the music the day before

but back in the choir room

i was making a vague comment about how i have played better before (close to him mind you he was like right next to me and i was basically saying it to him anyways)

and he goes

“You did well. you did better than i could have.”

and i’m like “well have you ever had lessons before? i’m sure you would’ve done just as well if i showed you where to put your fingers.”

and he’s like “i’ve had about 6 months of lessons in the last five years”

and because i’m a fucking dumbass i was like huh and he had to repeat himself

and i was like lol and then asked him to explain bc i still didn’t fucking understand

and then i started fiddling on the piano a bit and the conversation died out

but he like a) complimented me b) shared information about himself c) maintained eye contact with me d) we held conversation about a shared interest/topic (he’s a percussionist in band) (it’s also kinda funny bc i was watching him rehearse once and he’s the one that plays the cymbals in this one song and he’s so like serious about it it’s so cute)

but then the plot thickens

bc i got all dressed up and shit today for church like i looked cute like i was planning on holding conversation and asking him about what he thinks about and making positive conversation

and then he wasn’t fucking at church today

i’m totally not mildly disappointed or upset i definitely am

it’s fine i’m trying not to get too emotionally invested in him bc it’s not gonna work out

realistically i know i’m not made for the relationships that happen in high school and he’s shown no true romantic inclinations towards me or any sign that he can function in a relationship

also i’m a senior and he’s a junior and i’m going to go out of state for college (although i just submitted my apps today and i am also applying to my state college so if i go there he might also end up there)

idk tho

okay this has been going through my mind for days and I have to get my thoughts out before I explode

Disclaimer, this is not talking about a specific artist/person and would never condone or participate in anon hate or online bullying for any reason but especially this one. 

I get why people are mad about Link being portrayed as this buff, hypermasculine, tall guy. I am too (again don’t fucking attack people over it though) and it seems like such an infuriating way to change the character just to fit into some ideal of hypermasculine attractiveness or to make a ship fall into a more hetero lense by making him a decent foot taller than whatever girl he’s being paired with. 

The world of video games and action movies and every form of media ever is extremely saturated with male characters that are swole and manly and whatever other descriptors people are trying to push onto Link that don’t fit into his actual character. There are so many characters out there that already fit this male standard and having a clearly androgynous elf guy was like a breath of fresh air. 

Link was literally designed to be a character whose lines on gender were blurred, ‘a girl with a masculine touch or a guy with a feminine touch’ so that anyone could project themselves onto him. His physical design in botw/totk was specifically made to be feminine enough to wear a certain outfit to pass as a woman (which includes a nearly mandatory cutscene where he puts on the clothes and blushes after being called pretty, like you have to be blind to think that its an experience that he doesn’t like at all) and in totk there are a bunch of outfits made for Link that are blatantly gnc, ones that are practically dresses, include nail polish and lipstick, you can even dye his hair bright and vivid colors and that’s half way to giving him new pronouns. The whole reason Linkle isn’t included in more mainline loz games was because her existence would force Link into a gender dichotomy, if there's a clearly female version of the main hero, that means the main hero has to be a man, and they would rather abandon a potential reoccurring character than make Link conform to a gender binary. 

So pardon me when it feels disingenuous and even malicious for him to be morphed into these clear masculine ideals, where he towers over any female romantic partner (even when in canon he is regularly depicted as noticeably shorter than her) or even in m/m fanworks he’s really beefed up, perhaps to make the scene feel more gay or something. 

Perhaps it’s because his more twink-y/ femboy body type is so heavily sexualized (though obviously when people are sculping abs on him it’s totally not because they’re horny about it) and that’s an issue in itself that bothers me. But it’s just so tiring to see one of the very few popular main characters who is short and feminine and androgynous be molded into just another bland muscle-headed action hero over and over and over again. 

I’m not mad at the creators for portraying him differently than how I like him portrayed, I’m mad because we really do get so few characters like him in good popular media, and to be honest, I really like him the way that he is. I love that he’s tiny and has long hair and has the option to dress any way the player likes. It seems a little distasteful to make him taller than a female love interest just because that’s how straight couples have to be, there’s just never been a real straight couple where the guy is shorter than the girl, that’s just Impossible! (/s)
