Did you know that there is a changelog?
If you've seen the recent announcement about it you probably know about it. Turns out that while I haven't been working very hard on making blog posts (it's a hobby after all), Dan and the Mugs have been working very hard to get things done. So now you know that there's a changelog. It's always been there, by the way, unnoticed by most but diligently reporting on changes and fixes that have been made over the years.
But did you know that there's a feedback forum?
It looks pretty abandoned when you first open it (if you can even find it) and it's not the most intuitive UI out there, but it exists. One of the main issues is that the posts featured are determined by the amount of upvotes, not by recent activity, and it's usually posts that are several years old which makes it look long abandoned at first glance.
If you can figure out how to navigate around the feedback forum you'll mostly see signs of abandonment, some more obvious than others. Looking at the the "active topics", meaning feedback that has been flagged as planned, under review or started, there are posts that are still flagged as under review despite already being implemented. It's a bit out of date to say the least.
Then there are the 900-and-more submissions that are not flagged/categorised by an admin. Again, the posts are automatically listed by most upvotes and the first posts you see are several years old which makes it look like no one's been there in years. You can almost feel the dust in your throat. But if you figure out the filters, you'll find that it is actually still in use! Sort of. It doesn't look very well moderated, and it could definitely use some tidying up to sort out the relevant posts from the all the posts that doesn't belong there in the first place. But people are submitting feedback despite the strange feeling of a long abandoned web forum. The question is if anyone actually reads it...
Constructive feedback
If you ask me (no one's asking me, but let me dream) the feedback forum needs a makeover. It's a tricky project since you either have to discard all the old stuff and just start over from scratch, or you need to invest a lot of time and effort into cleaning up the forum that already exists. A lot of the posts in the current forum can probably be dismissed but there are valuable suggestions there too. Not to mention, it's valuable to show that feedback has been submitted over the years and many of the suggestions have been implemented.
The navigation also needs to be addressed, because right now it's far from obvious how to get anywhere within the forum. I'm somewhat familiar with the feedback forum and I still struggle on the rare occasion that I open it.
Just like with any forum, the feedback forum needs to be moderated. If there are moderators for it, they're not doing a very good job. It should be checked regularly, once a week is probably enough, and as many posts as possible should be flagged/categorised to mark if they're active or not. Responding to submissions could also be worthwhile, showing an interest in what people have to say. You'll need an empathic communicator for this since a lot of it will be dismissing ideas which is discouraging for many, so keep that in mind.
Instructions and guidelines could prove useful. There's a short text box on top of the page which is currently just a welcome message. This is a good place to also include some instructions and/or guidelines. There's already one "rule" mentioned there, to write in English. Why not expand on that? Instructions to check if someone else has already made the suggestion, recommend using keywords, explain that the forum is for all WoX sites and issues that regard individual sites ought to be taken to the site leaders instead.
If people have more ideas, please write in the comments! Or in the feedback forum I guess, but if valuable feedback is submitted and there's no around to read it, is it still valuable feedback?

i love when words fit right. seize was always supposed to be that word, and so was jester. tuesday isn't quite right but thursday should be thursday, that's a good word for it. daisy has the perfect shape to it, almost like you're laughing when you say it; and tulip is correct most of the time. while keynote is fun to say, it's super wrong - i think they have to change the label for that one. but fox is spot-on.
most words are just, like, good enough, even if what they are describing is lovely. the night sky is a fine term for it but it isn't perfect the way november is the correct term for that month.
it's not just in english because in spanish the phrase eso si que es is correct, it should be that. sometimes other languages are also better than the english words, like how blue is sloped too far downwards but azul is perfect and hangs in the air like glitter. while butterfly is sweet, i think probably papillion is more correct, although for some butterflies féileacán is much better. year is fine but bliain is better. sometimes multiple languages got it right though, like how jueves and Πέμπτη are also the right names for thursday. maybe we as a species are just really good at naming thursdays.
and if we were really bored and had a moment and a picnic to split we could all sit down for a moment and sort out all the words that exist and find all the perfect words in every language. i would show you that while i like the word tree (it makes you smile to say it), i think arbor is correct. you could teach me from your language what words fit the right way, and that would be very exciting (exciting is not correct, it's just fine).
i think probably this is what was happening at the tower of babel, before the languages all got shifted across the world and smudged by the hand of god. by the way, hand isn't quite right, but i do like that the word god is only 3 letters, and that it is shaped like it is reflecting into itself, and that it kind of makes your mouth move into an echoing chapel when you cluck it. but the word god could also fit really well with a coathanger, and i can't explain that. i think donut has (weirdly) the same shape as a toothbrush, but we really got bagel right and i am really grateful for that.
grateful is close, but not like thunder. hopefully one day i am going to figure out how to shape the way i love my friends into a little ceramic (ceramic is very good, almost perfect) pot and when they hold it they can feel the weight of my care for them. they can put a plant in there. maybe a daisy.

Hi it's just to let you know that the official romanization of Revaan's name is Raverne ! Also they have romanized Baul's name to Baur !
Twst coming back at us again with the least expected romanization! thank you everybody (oh god my inbox) (no it's great, I literally asked for this and the reactions have been INCREDIBLE, thank you all!)
I do like Raverne though, I think it's got a nice fancy sound to it! (I had kinda suspected it was going to be an R instead of an L, so the fact that it's SO close to Laverne except for that is hilarious to me personally.) and Dragoneye Duke is honestly probably the best translation for his title, I wasn't envying the localizers that one. :') Baur instead of Baul I was NOT expecting, but in retrospect I think his name's supposed to be a reference to the Bauru crocodile, so that actually makes way more sense!
someone else also said Meleanor has become Maleanor, which is the REALLY weird one to me, because I was so surprised it was written as Mel instead of Mal in the first place?! oh god no I can't decide which one I like better. 😭 (I wonder if they might change it to Mal...they have made romanization changes before) (like I remember House of Distraction being corrected to House of Destruction in Playful Land) (I did check and she's still Mel for now, but I dunno, they might Mal her up and some point and save me from having to make a decision about which one to use) (HECK I CAN'T DECIDE)
uhhhh thank you for letting me ramble about anime names, let's just say MONOGRAMMED SWEATERS FOR EVERYONE

"humans are inherently evil" "humanity deserves to go extinct" okay. if that's the case why are we such a community based species. why have we seen evidence of careful amputations in ancient humans that allowed them to live longer, fuller lives. why do we have thousands of years of evidence of toys made for children by their guardians. why do we consistently find burial sites where the deceased has been buried with items of significance because the people in their life cared about them even after they were gone. why do strangers help strangers without any reward. why are most of the people you meet each day not cruel. we have ALWAYS been kind. I know it is so so easy to get swept up in all the horrible happenings in the world. these things can be extremely important to know about. but please, please please know that there are so many kind people in the world. you are one of them!

I'm barely to the massacre and I can already tell I'm going to be screaming at every this-makes-no-sense decision made by the writers (your temple is under violent attack, and you evacuate the kids... to a barely enclosed corner in a prominent temple room? Instead of to the hundreds of sky bison that were highlighted as flying in earlier? Why?) (And Aang left to clear his head and think instead of to run from his duties? That's such a less compelling plot arc?) (And the show had him briefly monologue about being a goofy kid who loves pies and his friends instead of using the extended temple scene to show any of that? Didn't want to pay more child actors, did you, Netflix?)
Yeah I'm just. Going to be screaming at the screen instead of enjoying this. Different decisions aren't necessarily bad, but when those decisions seem to be in the direction of "show a man burning alive before we even get to the on-screen massacre" this is just... not the show for me.
