Synopsis: You work in a museum dedicated to a famous puppet show from the 60s to the 70s. Strangely enough, you never stay in this place until it gets dark. And when you did, you didn't expect to have seen what was an exhibition become real.

You sighed lightly as you finished typing on your workplace computer. When you entered this job, you thought it would be more fun to work in a place that contained a story from an old TV show with children's puppets. But still, it wasn't exhausting, that was a bonus. You took your eyes off the blue screen and looked at the people walking past you after having visited the tour of the old place where the scenes were shot. Your older family members had already seen this show, they had watched it as children, but you, unfortunately, did not get to see any of it. Ironic, since you work at the location where you have all the information about what the show was like.

Some loud laughter made you lift your head to see what was going on next door, it was just your co-workers who do the tour around the museum, laughing about things you weren't too keen to find out. You watched them and then decided to get your bottle of water in your favorite color, the refreshing liquid made your dry throat feel better after a busy afternoon. You looked to your side and saw the empty chair of one of your colleagues who had finished their shift a long time ago. Alex was their name, friendly but very quiet. Any information that one of the tourists needed, you had to speak instead of them. Not that it was a problem. It rarely happened. "Dear?" You lifted your head, which was in your hand. You noticed the presence of an older woman. "Oh, hi Evelyn." You said smiling lightly at the lady in a more basic outfit. Ah, Evelyn was the cleaning woman in the place, you were the one who made friends with her the quickest because of the number of times you had forgotten your things in the place and she had found them. The old woman smiled at you and looked at your things on the table. "Darling, what are you still doing here?" she asked, watching your calm expression change. Still here? What? You looked at the place. It was empty, you should have finished your shift by now, but you were still drifting off in your own thoughts. "O-Oh, I didn't even see the time pass!" You started to take your things and put them in your backpack. The most important items mainly. Evelyn giggled lightly and waved her hand at you. "I almost lock you in here." She said jokingly. You grin lightly at the old woman who watched you leave some important things behind. "Oh, don't forget to get your jacket, your bottle, and your keys." The old woman begins to lift each finger to how many things you accidentally left behind, you took the jacket in hand and put it on. "Jacket ready." The elderly woman hummed and looked at your bottle in hand, you lifted it up and put it inside your backpack. "Bottle already put away." And lastly you picked up your keys and lifted it. "Keys already in hand."

Then Evelyn stopped you before you could continue. "Isn't there something else missing?" The old woman asked you and you paused, innocently turning your head sideways. Evelyn just looked down at your desk and you followed her vision. Oh, it was your door access card. "Oh! Ahah, thank you!" You left your keys on the table to lift your backpack off the floor and then saw Evelyn start walking forward. You quickly grabbed your card and the backpack and ran to the exit along with the elderly woman. Smiling as you walked out the doorway. "Have a good night, Evelyn!" You waved to the elderly woman who returned the nod. You jogged over to your motorcycle, which unfortunately was further away from the place. Unfortunately the motorcycle parking space was hard to find around the museum, so you walked along the road until you reached your motorcycle, where there were also some motorcycles. But because it was late, the street was empty. You sighed content to finish your shift and finally go home, eat something warm and watch something under the covers. You daydreamed and reached into your pockets for your motorcycle keys to finally get to… to… You widened your eyes slightly. You fumbled in your left pocket, feeling only your card inside. You checked your other pocket. With your shoulders slumped now, you felt only bitterness. "Son of a bitch." You grunted angrily, you turned around and started running towards the museum again. Your face containing only resentment for having made the same mistake AGAIN. You mentally cursed yourself. You grabbed the keys! You had them in your hands! You could only hope that Evelyn hadn't left yet. But getting close to the museum and seeing the closed doors made you grunt louder for bad luck. But you sighed and remembered that sometimes, when there are still people in the museum, they use a side door that requires a card. You could only hope that your employee card would work on this door. Running to the side of the structure, you spotted the door, which contained a mechanism on the side, which you could only think was where the card went. Fingers crossed, you swiped the card, and then heard a 'blip'. Raising your eyebrows as you saw the door unlock, you smiled at your luck. Wasting no time, you went inside the place, it was dark, except for the lights that were turned on in the exhibitions. You ran straight to the front tables and began to search quickly for your keys. Were you breaking in? Maybe….. But if you were quick, it never happened. But you began to get stressed by not finding your keys anywhere. You remember the last time you were here, keys in hand, with Evelyn and-

Then you heard the sound of metal hitting each other in the deepest parts of the museum. You stopped your breath when you heard the sound of keys. You raised your head in the direction of the sound and it seemed to be in the most isolated area of the museum sessions. You heard the sound begin to drift away.

"Evelyn?" You called out, perhaps the old lady would not have left as soon as you thought. Maybe she had stayed to sort some things out? You left the tables and followed the sound, going further into the museum. You called Evelyn's name again, but got no answer. Entering corridors and exiting rooms, you stopped at the end of a wing under construction. You realized that it was the old parts of the old studio. They were being renovated for tourist viewing. It was all dark, but you could see a door on the other side opening and closing.

It was bright on the other side of that door. You quickly made your way inside this dark, empty wing. You couldn't see any silhouettes of any kind, except the door that you got close enough to see. Stopping in your tracks, you felt a revulsion in your stomach. It was as if it told you not to turn that knob. You frowned and sighed as you reached for the doorknob. You opened it and the brightness on the other side blinded you in a way you weren't expecting. "What the…?" You covered your face with your arms and then opened your eyes slightly, seeing everything blurry, and everything very…. Colorful? You blinked a few times and lowered your arms, letting your eyes absorb all the information in front of you. Your eyes after getting used to the bright light, you couldn't help but stare, awestruck by what you were seeing. Your head turned several different ways, looking at the houses, the trees, the colorful floor tiles, the clear blue sky. You were seeing in front of you an exact version of the show Welcome Home. Only everything was giant and real.

Wait, real? It wasn't possible, you must be dreaming, hallucinating. You looked back and the darkness was still behind you, you looked forward, letting your head cross to the other side, noticing how the door was literally in the middle of nowhere. You frowned in confusion. But when your eyes reached the ground. You noticed that a few feet away were your keys. You noticed your keys were on this other side of the world, simply on the floor. You bit on the inside of your cheek and nervously decided to step into this place with its extremely saturated colors. Taking small steps. You reached for your key and bent down, noticing how shiny and polished the floor tiles were. The place was quite beautiful and extravagant. But it was too much for you.

Then standing up as you turned back around, you wanted to get out of there as fast as possible, pausing quickly as you noticed a fatal mistake. One thing that was missing.

You turned around and were met with only the street and a few more colorful trees.

You gripped your keys tightly as you noticed the missing entrance from where you entered. Your eyes searched the entire place, but there was no sign of the door. Your breath rose and you looked back at the small neighborhood. This was definitely not what you wanted to do after your shift.

You noticed that there was a road, you looked both ways, and the sinister thing was that both sides made the road extend to where you could no longer see, same thing with the colorful trees. It was bizarre. You then noticed a butterfly passing near you, your eyes watched it, and it flew with the breeze into the neighborhood. The only place that would have things inside… Putting your keys in your pocket, you decided to investigate what was inside. Maybe you would find your key thief. But not holding out much hope, you began to walk into the neighborhood. Looking carefully at the store next door and the post office. They seemed closed, are all the houses empty too? You walked until you reached the middle. Looking at the red house, strangely it seemed to have eyes. You ignored it and kept walking to the right. Not noticing the fact that the house was staring at you until you were out of sight. You kept walking along the colorful tile, passing a house- uh, a decorated barn. Strangely enough, a good smell coming from it. It smelled like a freshly baked pie. You kept walking until you came near a house with sky decorations and- "OH MY STARS!" You almost choked on your saliva as you heard someone screaming behind you. You turned around, surprise on your face. And then your face got even more expressive after you saw who was there. The girl in the overalls dropped the box of ornaments from her hands and dropped it on the floor because she was surprised to see you.

You however just watched this star person. You remember the names of some of the characters, and clearly the one in front of you was Sally. A character from the show. Real, and right in front of you.

You didn't have the strength to say anything, just watch carefully for this fictional character interacting with you. Sally pressed her rosy cheeks together at the sight of you, making her mouth in an 'o' shape, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Oh my!" Sally then put her hands over her mouth as she noticed her loud tone of voice.

She soon removed her hands from her mouth and began, "You, are you our new neighbor??!" She asked loud enough for you to hear. When you heard that, for some reason, you finally managed to speak back. "Me? No! Not at all-" Sally then looked at you and waved her hands in front of her. "Oh come on! You don't have to keep it a secret, you-" Sally interrupted herself as an idea popped into her mind.

"OOHH, I have to tell Wally! He's the one who takes care of this!" Sally soon started to run backwards, soon braking hard and looking at you with a smile. "Hold on there! I'll be right back!!!" And then the girl continued running away, precisely to the red house in the center.

You began to despair internally. Feeling a little exposed by the neighborhood. You started to walk and run away. Afraid to see what would happen after that. You walked straight through the forest next to the post office and decided to go back to see if the door would be there. You had a view of the road. And no door. Snorting loudly, you put your hand on your head. Staring at the ground. But what was going on anyway? Where were you? Why is this happening to you? Suddenly, someone walks by the corner of the post office and almost hits you, well, technically this person did hit you, but only in the arm as you went straight past. You paused, instinctively raising your head to see who it was. "Oh, jeez. You okay, friend?" The somewhat monotone voice asked, not loudly. You felt a hand lightly grasp your arm. You looked up at the person, or rather being. The man with a smile on his face looked into your eyes, and you have never seen in your life someone change expression as quickly as that one. You definitely knew this one. The protagonist of the show. Wally Darling.

Although you had seen drawings of this character with a friendly smile, you definitely didn't want to be the person who saw the look he was giving you at that moment.

The same could perhaps be said for Wally, for your facial expression at seeing him was not one of the happiest to behold either.

You couldn't tell for how long you stared at him, but you noticed how he moved closer to you, his eyes intense and focused only on yours. You swallowed hard. Not liking the situation at all. Wally then opened his mouth and after seconds said seriously. "You're not from around here." The only thing you could do was nod your head slowly, a little terrified and surprised that he would notice. Or maybe not, you clearly didn't suit that place. "I'm not…" You finally broke eye contact to look at your arm that was in the puppet's hand…? Thankfully, the man in blue let go of you, making you more comfortable with not being stuck in the place. "Although…" Wally began, his voice a little more subtle and not serious as before. The puppet put his hands together and put a smile on his face. Still with his eyes on you. "If you got in… Then that means you must belong here." You took two steps back, glancing at the man in blue in front of you. Ignoring a little what he was saying because your mind was so confused, you just wanted to get the hell out of there. But it seemed no one was going to help you. So maybe the protagonist knows what's going on? When you had this idea you went to open your mouth to talk about how you would get back to your place, since he realized that you didn't belong there, you were interrupted by him taking your hands. Raising your eyebrows you looked at Wally, who was smiling contentedly. "Well, welcome, neighbor! I hope you enjoy your new stay." How did you get into this situation? . . . "Wait, I don't think you understand." You tried to explain your situation to the puppet who clearly wasn't listening to you, ironic though he didn't want to take his eyes off you. "I'm not from here. I can't get out. I don't want to stay." You said stopping your steps. You were being 'forced' to walk with Wally to your new stay. And it was a real challenge to show him what 'I don't want to stay' means. "Nonsense! You wouldn't even be here if you didn't have your keys!" Wally turned to you, with a slight smile. The puppet just found it amusing to see you making irritated expressions after his explanations. "I-! I don't have any keys. I don't want to live here." If you weren't insane to see this place. Then you will be in trying to explain something in this place. "Silly neighbor! Of course you do." Wally looked at you with half-lidded eyes, you frowned, and then he finally took his eyes off you, to look in your pants pocket, and then continued to look at you. You thought this was strange and quickly put your hand inside your pants, feeling for your keys.

You looked at the puppet frowning as he watched you smiling. Pulling out your keys, you noticed something you didn't have on your normal keys. A large letter of your initial as a keychain. "Wha-?" The man in blue moved from your side and pulled out a proper key, with a letter W as a keychain on his keys. "We each have those keys in the neighborhood. And so do you." No fucking way. "Now, may we continue? I would love to introduce you to the others. Although Sally has already started spreading the news." Wally laughed monotonously and continued to take you to your 'home'.

Your new stay? No fucking way. You're getting out of this place for sure.

Summary : Reader is the Commander of the Kingsguard. Prince Aegon takes an interest in you during one of King Viserys' feasts.

The Great Hall welcomed noble Lords and Ladies from around the realm. Tonight, King Viserys held one of many feasts. A small one, yet still glamourous. Ever the generous King he was.

She stood at attention, stationing near the steps of the Royal Table where the King was sitting. She wore a suit of armour, the signature white cloak of the Kingsguard draped elegantly on her right shoulder. A hefty sword rests by her hip, a cautious hand hovering over the hilt.

Aegon approaches from behind, making sure to not startle her. He quietly notes her appearance, clearing his throat before he starts to speak. "Commander. May we speak?"

She turns around, looking expectant. She looks around the room before giving him her full attention. "Prince Aegon, do you require something?" She bows curtly.

He bows his head respectfully in her direction. "I simply wish to... compliment you on your fine appearance. I've never seen you in full armour before," His lips quickly turning into a sly smirk.

She raises an eyebrow, skeptical. "Thank you, My Prince. Now do you require my assistance or not?" Her eyes searching his, trying to figure out his intentions.

"No, Commander. I simply wanted to pay a compliment," He shrugs, a roguish grin on his face. "Perhaps I will get to see you in armour again?" He chuckles.

"Most probably. Though I might try my very best to avoid you at all cost. No offence, Prince," She huffs, bored.

"And why's that?" His voice is teasing. He steps closer, close enough to smell her perfume... And to feel her breath against his face. "Is my reputation *that bad*?" He whispers lowly, his violet eyes shining with mischief.

She steps away, stunned by his approach and closeness. She sighs, looking around the room once more for any threats as she is occupied by Prince Aegon. She stand straight, face stoic "Do I have permission to speak freely, Prince?"

"Of course," Aegon smirks at her reaction. "Speak, Commander," He permits her, his grin growing.

At his command, her shoulder slouches carelessly and she juts out her hip. she rests her arms one atop the other on the hilt of her sword. The stoic face was then replaced by a look of pure boredom - the one she tried to conceal. She looked off guard and casual.

"You-" She starts off, voice firm and of disapproval.

"You are sluggish and lazy. You like to drink - and when you drink you get drunk- and when you are drunk..." Her voice trails off, becoming louder with each phrase. She stops to take a breath. Her voice becomes softer yet firm.

"..When you are drunk, your intentions are clouded with lust. You visit brothels. You shame The King's name and you enjoy doing it," She breathes out, barely taking the time to check herself.

After she speaks, her face flashes in panic. She did not mean to nag at the Prince. she waits for his reaction, prepared to be called out for her casualness in speaking.

He blinks. Once, twice. His mouth curls into a lopsided grin.

"...Ahah," Aegon starts laughing, trying to recover from his shock at her boldness, and her accuracy. "I can't exactly deny that..." He grins mischievously. "You have a very... direct way with your words, Commander," He quirks a brow.

She clears her throat, silently relieved that he didn't order to cut off her tongue right then and there.

"I was given permission to speak freely..." she justifies, eyes roaming everywhere but him.

He shrugs. "Of course. Free speech is your right as a citizen of the realm," He chuckles sheepishly.

"I must admit, your words took me off guard. Most don't speak to me so openly... But I don't mind. It's... well.. entertaining, I suppose," He pauses, smiling. "Can you blame me for my ways? Being a Targaryen Prince certainly has it's benefits. So why not enjoy them every once in a while?"

she furrows her eyebrows, clearly disapproving his way of thinking. Her face flashes a look of disappointment that he did not consider her words.

"Whatever The Prince says," she states, huffing with disdain.

That little remark was uncalled for, but she does have a point.

He chuckles and sighs, "but fine. I suppose I could... curb my behaviour. As a gesture of my... appreciation of your honestly," He extends a hand with a smirk, eyes twinkling with humour. "would you care to dance?"

Dance?

Her eyes widen, she stills. Her eyes dart around the room frantically.

"What? You're not afraid of the Prince's dancing, are you? Or are you... afraid of me?" Aegon's eyes twinkle yet again. His grin spreading across his face with amusement.

Her eyebrows furrow again, annoyed. "Scared of you?" she scoffs.

"I simply cannot. I am on duty," She states firmly, looking prideful as ever.

He frowns.

"Oh, please," He chuckles. "Come on now, Commander. Surely you can make a little time for this... Prince?" His voice drops to a murmur as his tone turns flirtatiously.

"You might even learn something," Aegon steps closer to her, "or maybe, I'll learn something about you," He steps even closer, his voice a whisper and his eyes dancing.

She stutters, trying to come up with another excuse.

He steps closer still, his face inches from hers. She can feel his breath against her skin.

"Are you... intimidated?" His voice drops to a whisper.

He puts one hand on her chin and smiles.

"Or is this exciting you?" His eyes dancing darting between hers and her lips. He smirks softly, noting her features in his head.

She steps away quickly, clearing her throat. "Fine. We will dance. Just this once," She says pointedly, failing to quickly come up with another excuse.

Aegon smiles, "perfect, Commander,"

He extends a hand and leads her to the dance floor. He places his left hand on her hip, his right hand holding hers. His eyes twinkling and his voice filled with confidence as he speaks.

"So," Aegon holds up his chin, a proud grin on his face. "How should this dance go? Do you teach me your steps or do I take the lead?"

Her eyes dart around the room as she grows more conscious of the eyes of nobles and ladies in the room. She feels small and uneasy.

"I..." She trails off, not knowing if she should admit it to him.

"I don't know how to dance.." Her voice merely a whisper.

His jaw drops, his smug grin melting into a stunned look. He stares at her and shakes his head.

"You don't?" He laughs quietly and pulls her close. As he starts dancing, his smile still wide and genuine.

The two of them begin dancing. Aegon's confidence clear in both his face and his movements. He lowers his head to look at her.

She tried her best to follow his lead, the white cloak of her armour swaying elegantly with their movements. She huffs, anxious at the attention they have of the room. All eyes are on them.

"Pay them no mind, Commander. It is just you and me here," Aegon's voice is soft, delicate. It was completely out of character. His gentleness and focus on her caught them both by surprise. Aegon never knew he was capable of chivalry quite like this. His eyes never left hers. His hold strong and unwavering.

She finds her confidence once more, her steps more precise and swift. Her eyes look up into his, she couldn't help but observe his features. The indicative violet orbs staring right back at her.

The music seemed to die down as she feels his breath on her. She swore she could hear his heart thumping in his chest. The distance between them was almost non-existent.

Applause.

She heard hands clapping as Aegon brings them to a slow stop. The music must have ended. How long had it been? She could not remember.

Aegon's eyes grow soft, a small smile on his lips. He feels her pull away, feeling the lack of warmth from her body so close to his. He yearns to feel it again. This time, he is determined.

Right, so I watched the first episode of ION cause of the constant discussion of it on this blog, and... it's pretty neat!! I like it so far, and look forward to watching more episodes of it. While watching I kept in mind all of the complaints said here and yeah, I can certainly see why so many people are off-put by the show.

The artstyle is definitely... different. It takes some getting used to, and I suppose some aren't able to tolerate it at all. The way I think about it, I just see it as how solely the ION characters look. Like, objects within/from that universe have much more detailed/human-like faces, it's normal there. Now, if someone were to apply those faces to any other object show I would Absolutely Hate it. But within ION? It's fine!! That's how they're supposed to look, and their designs fit their personalities in my opinion. (Honestly I was expecting worse, thought it would be go-animate levels of uncanniness ahah).

Also, Cracklin's character is what I suppose some would call "weird". Really, he reminds me of a typical young anime character swooning and obsessing over a teacher/mentor figure. I do see why some people would call that annoying or creepy, but I'm personally indifferent to it. Chief doesn't seem incredibly bothered by it and the two of them seem to have a forgotten history that might be influencing some of Cracklin's behavior towards him.

Thinking about the entire debate on people's distaste or praisal for this show is a bit complicated, but I'd summarize it by comparing it to the parts of an animated MAP. Like yeah, people really like when different parts flow and mesh together (PPT2, YAG, OLO) and sometimes are amazed by really flashy or skilled parts that stand out (ONE, TNM, MO) but there's often one or two artists with particularly striking styles that... just aren't as popular. They're not the normal status quo and don't quite match the interests of all the viewers. And there's nothing wrong with any of that, really. Some people don't find some artstyles as appealing as others, and would rather stick to what they're most familiar with or change it little. Some artists want to explore outside the usual medium, and incorporate their own styles or experiment with something completely new. Both of those are okay!! It's good to have creativity in a community, and it's fine to only stick with the parts you enjoy most. The two sides of this discussion are equally valid, and there's no need to get upset at one another over them, yeah?

Anyhow, I'm excited to see how the story develops and what exactly happened at that power plant, the beginning bits of the plot are already very intriguing. The backgrounds are superb by the way, they add so much to the vibe of the scenes. I also quite like the animation too, it's not constant frame-by-frame movement but it isn't a simple slideshow either, there's lots of varied expressions/poses and tweening. Overall, I think this show has lots of great things about it and really does add a unique flavor to the OSC as a whole!!

Honestly there are many. First there is Avalon's Child, set in the same universe as The Dead sea and a third project still unamed and not planned more that the general idea, then there is the hare and the fox shall dance, and finally there are the ones that I've put on hold a little until I get more inspiration and idead and motivation. (The protectors, Can I save you? And Forgive me)

Well for some it's spite (I want to write queer stories that do not end with the death of the queer character, writing queer character in spite of what some will say) for other the story just kind of popped up in my head and has me in a choke hold until I write it ahah.

I would say, in the original abomination category it would be Rain, a faune (made up species) which come from the project the protectors, they are just basically Gen z on drugs, from a species that has no gender, all the faune are agender. They are well... lets say very stubborn in protecting nature, even if they have to fight a giant dragon with nothing but their teeth (they did, and lived).

How much time, in your best estimation, do you spend thinking about them?

All day, every day. I'm at work sometime and I will use an old receipt to scribble notes that I thought about so I don't forget.

Who's the most unhinged?

I would say either Rain from the protectors or Atlas from Avalon's child. One fought a dragon woth nothing the other fought two gods and killed them.

Who comes the most naturally for you to write?

I would say either Ry (Atlas friend) or Gideon. Both are young, just turned adult or nearly adult but I can relate to the way they think, unlike Atlas who's in their twenties which is harder for me to write.

Do you ever cringe at them?

Not really.

How much control do you feel you have over your characters? do they ever “write themselves,” refuse to cooperate, or do things you didn’t expect? To what degree?

I lost control the moment I started to think too much about their personality. They write themselves entirely even if I'm not writing.

Are some less cooperative than others?

Well I would say Atlas is somehow the worst one because I spent so lonng thinking about their personality that they just sort of do their thing and i just gotta chamge the story accordingly.

When someone asks the dreaded, “what do you write about,” question, what do you usually say?

Depends on who? If I like the person I might explain a lot, if not I'll just say like fantasy, sci-fi, paranormal, whatever genre it is and say the general idea like 《young adult thrown in a world of magic and they fight to belong》

HELLO MY DEARHEART! Thank you so much for this uplifting message! It seriously means a ton. It is so, SO important to me to keep all the characters true to themselves so I very much appreciate your feedback <3 I'm so glad you found me too! I actually have a post about this on what was/is my original fanfiction blog here ( @supernaturalfreewill ) which has an even more obscene number of followers than this one does haha because I used to get asked this ALL THE TIME. The post has some thoughts which may or may not be relevant/useful to you.

I think the main things to remember are: 1.) You should be doing this purely for yourself, not to hit some follower goal or some particular benchmark. If you don't enjoy it and you set certain expectations the work suffers and it can be very disheartening if you aren't hitting those goals when or how you wanted to. It's funny how when what you are doing is fulfilling to you, people are attracted to it! If you write what you love, it shows. And putting in the time to edit and reread and practice your craft makes a difference. 2.) Being consistent in multiple ways is important. Posting every single day feeds the stupid algorithm and gets eyes on your work and keeps people coming back for more. Producing a consistent kind of content makes people more likely to follow because they know what to expect from you. At the minimum, make it clear what your blog or site is going to have. I know for myself on Tumblr, I rarely follow blogs that are a mishmash of many topics or things because I like to know what I can expect to see on my dashboard. I follow blogs with a clear "theme" and I definitely have seen it work in terms of building my own following. It's why I have separate blogs for my different fandoms and didn't incorporate them into a multi-fandom blog. (But everyone has different tastes and I'm definitely not saying you can't be successful as a random blog or multi-fandom blog lol but you get what I'm saying!)

3.) Cultivate your "brand" and also be you! Putting yourself out there and being authentic also seems to attract people.

In terms of what I did here on Tumblr, it's literally just those things above. I was already doing the writing for myself and then thought "Hey, maybe other people would enjoy this?" and started posting consistently and frequently. I can honestly say at least when I started posting my Supernatural fics MANY moons ago, I NEVER expected it to take off the way it did. But once I got started, I just kept going as long as I enjoyed it. The idea is the same here on this blog. I try to post at least a drabble almost every day, I frequently interact with my followers, and I write what I love.

Hello, I saw your earlier post and I hope it's not too late to drop an "ask"! 🙂

When I got into Royai a few months ago, "the cables burnt and lines flare" was actually one of the first fics I'd read, and I still remember how much I'd loved the way you portrayed Team Mustang's dynamics and Jealous!Roy so so much! 💕 Honestly, it's short stories like these which led me to get an AO3 account. 😃 So a big "thank you"!

I was wondering if you were working on any WIP (Royai, FMA or otherwise 🙂), and also, what character dynamics and/or relationships you're currently most eager to explore through your writing?

cables burnt! that fic feels like an age ago, but a quick reread was still nonetheless enjoyable. seeing how my writing has developed over the last 6ish years is definitely interesting, and it's also very humbling to know that ppl are still discovering that writing, despite us nearly being in 2024.

this is a screenshot from my scrivner folder. this is not a full list of my drafts, i have so many from my days where i wrote with google docs or simply on word, but it's still surprisingly a lot.

my current big WIPs are a very long hp fic, in which i smash hermione and draco together and make them kiss. i'm expecting my first draft to be over 100k so for this years nanowrimo, i'm simply going to continue with that writing and get myself over that 100k mark. i've never written so much so quickly for a story: but i love the way it has encouraged me to study lots of different subjects and explore lots of fauna and flora native to scotland! (my eternal thanks to @fullmetalscullyy who is always sending me the best pics and videos and so i'm always always inspired <333).

currently in my writing i'm exploring a lot of themes around grief, betrayal, forgiveness, and moving on. a lot of it is interpersonal relationships, but also how sometimes u can be angry at raging at circumstances beyond ur control, but also beyond the control of the ppl u want to blame. i love having the environment as an antagonist, a societal structure that seems so wholly unchanging. having hope despite that i think is at the crux of my writing: the little things matter just as much.

i want to explore more riza/bradley dynamics -- my fic enthrallment kind of brushed against that, but i think delving into those interesting and dangerous dynamics would be a fun write. @courtmartialme also did some absolutely stunning havocai drawings that def make me want to explore more of that relationship too.

ahah yeah i never expected that piece to blow up like it did, im super grateful about it, it was definitely an experiment in style so im glad people like it so much and found my comics and stuff through it. (its not technically fanart though, i am raptorjules, the artist of the detention piece and creator of the comics and characters in it, though its so different than my usual and ofc i posted under this tumblr handle so i know a lot of people don't realize we are the same person!) also re: john, SAME friend. john is kind of a self portrait of a person i could have been when i was younger, if that makes sense, had i decided back then to fully transition. im really happy that people like him so much, he means so so much to me!

hahaha you got me, I was a teenager in the early to mid 90's, i listen to all things these days and punk is SUCH A BROAD GENRE and i tend to lean toward ska punk or folk punk more than crust or hardcore these days, but lets see, i'll give you some rec's of bands that inspire my art and ofc john in general. also you can head over to youtube, under raptorjules, and there should be a playlist called Johnny's Music that goes along with the song rec's on the Creaky arc in my comic Seemingly Dark, if you liked those songs!

So for more modern punk music, i love anything by The Interrupters (ska punk forever plz,) and Dog Park Dissidents for some queer punk (especially their toxic cover, fight me.) And Skatune Network for more wonderfully queer ska/skapunk.

In high school at the height of my Outwardly Studded and Spiked Punk Days i listened to a lot of Rancid (specifically the Life Won't Wait album) Descendants, Social Distortion, the Violent Femmes (the live Add it Up album if you can find it is the best one imo) Jugheads Revenge (Image is Everything album), Wizo (german queercore punk, i like the Herrenhandtasche album.) pretty much anything by The Mountain Goats, and finally, The Bouncing Souls are my all time favorite band, punk or not, any album, but the Hopeless Romantic album inspired so many of my stories and pieces plus its great driving music!

and ofc Johns theme song is Social Distortions Story of My Life. idk if this helps, ive never thought my music taste was terribly interesting or good, but i listen to what i like and what inspires me.

This masquerade event has definitely blown away my expectations thus far like,I want more darker toned events or more scenarios that just pull a twist (ahah) on you

Glorious Masquerade is everything I wanted in an event. I love TWST's events in general. They're fun and lighthearted, and they have a touch of that Disney magic that you don't get to feel in many of their works anymore. But this event actually presents us danger. And it's threatening and it makes your heart pump and puts you on the edge of your seat as you learn more about the characters and hope to God that they succeed.

I wanted this for Endless Halloween. It presented us with a real danger, where the people you know and care for suddenly disappear in one night for mysterious reasons. I even had theories that maybe a TWST Chernabog would actually appear.

And yet it ended with a "surprise it was actually a prank". My disappointment was absolutely immeasurable. In hindsight, the music was a big big foreshadow to the prank due to its playful nature, but still, I wanted something thrilling. I wanted to see everyone sigh in relief as they defeated the big baddie, bring their friends home, and be greeted to a sunrise as they are thankful that everyone's alive and safe The only reason why I'm not going insane about it is because we got one mob talking about Azul stepping on people, which is very hot and sexy of him.

It didn't help that that ending presented Malleus in his omnipotence, so much so that he was the one in the "right" for pulling off such a prank (along with Lilia and the ghosts), and the boys were "wrong" for fighting the ghosts. Like 😭 I don't mind the prank itself, but I do mind the way that they presented Malleus and Lilia as innocent.

I think that's one of the main things I really like about Glorious Masquerade: that it presents Malleus as more than just an omnipotent figure who has everything under his control. It presents Malleus as someone more "human". He doesn't brag about his power. No, he is aware of it, he knows that it is a gift. And he even says it—that it's a gift that he chooses to share with the people he cares about. That has to be one of the kindest things anyone can say.

And there is that expectation to do a lot since he is powerful. But we see him needing help from Sebek and Silver when he was entangled in the flowers. He's told to conserve his power by Azul and Idia. And from that, we get to see Malleus being kind to his guards (him telling them that he trusts that he has good guards when they had to leave Sebek and Silver behind). We get to see Malleus giving praise where it is due (him praising Azul for getting rid of the flowers). And there are so many more moments that show Malleus as more than his omnipotence and power. We learn about Silver proudly presenting the magic handkerchief to Malleus. We see him being upset about receiving a false invitation when he had been excited about it. I've gotten to enjoy a lot of Malleus moments this event, but most importantly how he's become a bit more relatable.

I think I gone off topic from the ask completely HWAHAHHA but yeah, great event, everything is awesome. I am so happy.

Saw that you said you’ve seen 11 adaptations of Great Expectations? So curious on your rankings and which ones you like the most/reccomend!

OMG AHAH YES... It's even more than 11 now! Including theatre productions, even went to one recently :')  English is not my native language, BUT..

I rank them, but mostly for myself, as the criteria is very specific.

But I can recommend them! I'll talk mostly about the ones I liked, because the ones I hated could be talked about forever.

Naturally, the 1946 version is good, even if it has a romantic ending (which I personally can't stand, but it's present in 90% of the adaptations, so if it happens in the final seconds, you can tolerate it). At least the atmosphere is retained and the film is really great.

I also really liked the 1922 silent black and white Danish film, there's something special about it. Naturally, it was quite shabby, but the actors show everything perfectly with their facial expressions. And most importantly, it's atmospheric and funny. I highly recommend watching it if only for the sake of the experience! I was especially hooked by the very first scene. It's very rare that an adaptation pays more attention to it than the scene where Pip and Magwitch meet. When, as in the book, it's quite sad, as Pip strokes tombstones and fantasises about what his parents might have looked like. So in the film it takes a certain amount of time and he just lies by the tombstones while the wind ripples the grass and you can see the gallows in the background.

For me in general, the most important thing about an adaptation of Great Expectations is that it has to be funny and tragic. Humour is such an important part of the book, and black humour at that.

The 1999 series isn't bad either, although it's quite dark. But here I was sometimes confused by the presentation of the characters, but it's definitely very good compared to many others.

But my personal favourite is the 1989 series, I like everything about this adaptation. And it's naturally tasteful, but all the characters behave the way I expect them to! Especially Pip, Estella and Herbert, they generally often screw up in their character writing in adaptations. In this version, Pip is literally the best I've ever seen.

And Miss Havisham, how gorgeous she is! She is, by the way, played by the actress who played Estella in the 1946 version! (and who better to play Miss Havisham than Estella, ahah).

There's a lot in this adaptation that's often cut or portrayed in a way that's better not tried. Hammersmith with the Pockets family, Wemmick's house is charming with A.P. and Miss Skiffins! What a delightful Joe and Biddy there...... And the fight scene between Pip and Herbert? Wonderful. Funny, ridiculous and with a complete lack of any aggression, as it should be. Pip and Herbert are great here in general, very nice. 

In short, yes. Favourite adaptation.

The 1981 series isn't bad either!

In other adaptations I usually only like certain elements, or the way certain moments are played around.

And it's often just a shame that good actors are used so poorly.

I don't like the 2011 and 2012 versions at all, although I've seen 2012 occasionally praised. But how bad is it for me.... Such disrespect to Estella's character. Not to mention the others, Pip I can't digest here at all. Literally the only good thing I could see for myself was the use of Handel's nickname. But there's a very strange Herbert here and it looks very vulgar and not sincere.

In both these versions Miss Havisham is played by eminent admirable actresses, but how strangely the character of the heroine is turned out by the writers... Such wasted potential with such a cast. There are especially a lot of questions for 2011 in terms of Miss Havisham. Brr. I also hate it when Biddy is made whiny and helplessly in love with Pip. So does Estella...

( Also a shame about Harry Lloyd as Herbert, how little he was and how hastily he was cut. It's a strange desire to cut Herbert out of the plot, to fuse him somewhere. Often, he and Pip aren't even close friends, it's like they're no more than neighbours and drinking buddies. There is no deep connection and no tender loyal friendship).

The 1974 version is neither good nor bad, but rather odd. But I was amused by the scene where Molly is forced to show her strength. She and Drummle wrestle at arm's length and he, of course, shamefully loses.

Here I decided to slow down and not describe absolutely everything I've watched so the post doesn't get any longer. (God I hope you find this post at all useful... And I hope you'll respond.Honestly, if you get the urge to discuss it, I'd be delighted!)

Although it's impossible not to mention the Australian cartoon 1983. It's so bad it's good. It's so fucked up. Had the odd pleasure of watching it, but of course it's bad.

But. Most of all, I hate the 2023 version with all my heart. It doesn't have a single silver lining. It's just disgusting and unbearable to watch, they wanted to look at the story in a new way but fucked up absolutely everything. What a waste of cool cast, impossible.

But the one with wild and four fighting over if a tomato is a fruit or not. Now, Wolf Pack? I LOVE IT!! So cutee I love how Time and Twilight take care of Wild (and when wild was playing/experimenting with Kass instrument, such a mood, I did the same when I was younger and with a doorknob it was never the same) also your avian boys? Precious, I love them too and, even if Twilight with Wild are my favorite dynamic, seeing Wild-Hyrule-Legend is also cute, I like how their personalities contrasts, the most recent one, the Wild with Warriors about memories is bittersweet, I feel so sad about warriors situation (trying to be vague to avoid spoiling anyone) but the ending was pretty sweet, and finally and my most beloved, Eldritch Wild 🩷🩷🩷🩷 I love him soooo muchhh, I still feel sad that the chain are still scared of him but yeah, I don't blame them, still, the scene with Sun and Wild was pretty funny, when Wild started sneezing like crazy I could only think of a kitten after taking too much catnip XD also! With the fierce deity!!! I agree with warriors, It was like watching a Dog (more of a puppy if u ask me) asking to play with a Wolf xd I'm happy Wild finally has someone else who isn't scared of him! I'm excited to see what else will u write (and kinda hoping we get to see when Wild claims twilight 👀👀)

First off, THANK YOU I love your rambles so much! And that sounds about right; Tomato Fruitcake I think was the first thing I posted! It's fun to go back and read that and compare it to now.

Wolf Pack! That one has been fun to explore little bits and pieces; very relationship and character-based vs plot. And it's fun to have a Wild who's fairly non-verbal and relies heavily on the wolves to learn how to act.

My sweet wing bois; it is such an excuse to write Triple Threat dynamics since we have a few stories of Wild and Twi/Wolfie! I have a lot of fun with unique spins on each story, which helps keep it interesting to write. Especially when some of the ideas are the same each time (there's only so many times you can write out the same starting character growth before you need a break lol).

Poor Warriors. I actually relate to his personality the most, which means he gets the short end of some sticks.

Eldritch Wild! I think I mentioned last night that I never expected him to be so popular, yet here we are. It's been fun to build out lore and (hopefully) weave some of it in chapters. And seeing people's thoughts and guesses is super fun! I do plan to have something more focused on Wild and Twi for E!Wild, but it's probably a ways out.
