Webcomic platforms can help get your comic published when you want something quick and easy to start out! They generally share a few qualities:
They format everything in a basic way so you don't have to do much set up your own space to look nice on web/mobile
They have no fee to publish your comics there, because you are using their web hosting
They may get your comic in front of other readers with mobile apps or online catalogs
If you meet their criteria, you may also be able to find hosting with digital comic stores, publishers, and collectives, and this may get you a bit more in the way of money, promotional opportunities, or editor assistance.
Even if you choose to host your website on its own webhost with a comic CMS, you might also consider finding a platform that aligns with your comic goals and "mirroring" your pages there.
In this post, we look at all the webcomic platforms out there we could find in our research!
This post may be updated as time goes on as new platforms enter the hosting arena, or other important updates come to light.
Questions:
💻 Everyone uses social media, could I just use that as a platform for my comic? - One-shot or strip comics without a continuous story that can be read in any order can do okay on social media, and people have adapted Tumblr to display a series of pages. But for continuous long-form stories, social media platforms are better for keeping your readers updated and general promotion.
📚 Wait, what if I want to build my own website and drive people there? - We have another masterlist of website hosts for that!
🕵️‍♀️What kinds of restrictions can I expect? - Many comic platforms have restrictions on NSFW content, links to other sites, or could be invite/application-only. We've tried to note those on the cards, as well as a list of comic platforms that have predatory business practices at the very end that we recommend avoiding. Always do your research!

Tumblr media
i suggest not linking back (aka hotlinking) to the resources on the website. instead upload it yourself onto either neocities or an image hosting site and include credit. this way, if the person hosting the image deletes their page or loses the image somehow, your website will still be fine. (i didn't do this and had to find everything all over again... )
i have found that the best websites to use as companions to neocities are w3schools, pinterest, tumblr, and any image hosting site. w3schools for coding tutorials. pinterest for inspiration or for graphics. tumblr for any type of decor and advice. to edit my code and have a live preview, i use codepen.io.
since you read through all this, maybe take a look at my neocities site and follow me! <3

Thinking about the Magnus Archives Fears and how I don't think they'd have any success in Night Vale. Just imagine the Fears trying to establish themselves there, and how Night Vale already has them all covered...
- The Eye, that sees and knows everything? You mean like Cecil Palmer, the Faceless Old Woman Who Secretly Lives in Your Home, the Sherrif's Secret Police?
- The Buried, that cloying claustrophobia, feeling the weight of all of the earth above you and not being able to flee from it? Well, Night Vale has houses that collapse into sink holes, and giant purple worms that burrow under the ground and emerge in a dust storm, and a miniature city under lane five at the Desert Flower Bowling Alley and Arcade Fun Complex, so burying as a concept is a little... been there, done that.
- The Slaughter, that sees you mindlessly, erratically destroy everyone and everything? Night Vale got that covered in the Blood Space War, in the fight against that miniature city, in any of countless battles.
- The Web, that plots and spins its own machinations and taunts you with them? You mean the People's Church of the Smiling God, Station Management, government officials, the Labyrinth, whatever Big Rico is up to in that basement?
- The Vast, an endless expanse that you can never escape? Did you mean the Desert Otherworld, Night Vale itself, or looking up into the Mysterious Lights that Flash Overhead While We All Pretend to Sleep?
- The Stranger.... also known as anyone the town chases away with cries of 'Interloper', or the Appalachian Tracker (who's really just a super racist white guy in a Native American headress who speaks in Russian), or the Man in the Tan Jacket, or the Man Who is Not Tall and his companion, the Man Who is Not Small?
- The Spiral and all it's many Distortions? You mean like the mysterious corporation whose logo is a literal labyrinth, or that house out on the edge of town that leads to the Desert Otherworld, or Khoshekh?
- The Dark... well, that doesn't do a whole lot when there's a void in the Dog Park that people are NOT allowed to go into, when there's an infinite black above that is lit only by the Lights Above the Arby's.
- The Corruption, and it's sicknesses and plagues? Mm, well Night Vale outlawed Wheat and Wheat By-Products when the wheat turned to snakes, and there's a well established plague of Throat Spiders, and every single soul is corrupt in one way or another.
- The Lonely can't really get its legs underneath it when everyone is suspicious of their neighbours, when the Numbers Station is hosted by a woman who doesn't know herself, when Cecil Palmer doesn't remember who he was and all of the things that happened in his past, when the Condos exist as they do, when there are Angels (all named Erika) who DO NOT EXIST and cannot be known.
- The Hunt hasn't got anything to go off when Murder Night in Blood Forest is coming to a town near you, when Kevin and Lauren are popping into town to recruit for their malevolent Smiling God, when the Librarians will eat you if you linger too long.
- The Desolation and how it brings destruction and so much personal loss... well Carlos was trapped in that Desert Other World all that time, and Cecil doesn't remember much of his mother, and time and the fates force lovers to seperate.
- The Flesh will only be celebrated in a town that plays host to Torniquet (the best restaurant in town!) and wears Soft Meat Crowns to celebrate the founding of the town itself, and has Josh who changes their form at will.
- And the End.... well, the end doesn't really exist in Night Vale, not when there's ghosts who drive the taxi's, when Cecil Palmer's predecessor still shares his broadcasts from an Other Place, when death is well established to be a temporary affair.

If you're a linux[1] user who deploys multiple devices, I implore you: learn the command `scp`. It will change your life
It lets you copy files over an ssh pipe; if there's an ssh server on that host, you can essentially directly address a known file on that filesystem and say pwease gimme. And it's roughly the same syntax as `cp`, just with a `[user]@[host]:` before *either source or destination*[2].
And the real kicker is that neither source nor destination need be local:
Tumblr media
I copied a file from my web server to an icecast source client host by passing it through my phone.
Unreasonably handy tool to have on your toolbelt.
Footnotes under the cut.
[1] Okay, fine, you got me! It's not solely a linux util. SCP is part of the openssh suite, which means that it's available on virtually every OS under the sun... Including being included by default on Windows 10 1709 and later versions of Windows. It's already on your mac, your BSD system, and almost certainly your phone, too. SSH servers and *nix go together like picnics and baskets, though, so I wouldn't exactly pull the *average* windows user aside to recc' `scp`.
[2] What's most interesting to me is that the `[user]@[host]` is used for the SSH client to know where it's authenticating and how, but the actual filesystem location's format is not processed by the SSH client; it's the *server's* format, not the client, that matters for parsing the file location. In some cases this can lead to a mismatch on filenames that you're receiving vs requesting, but the -T flag disables that checking, and then use `[email protected]:D:\\Documents\\testdata.bin` (drive letter indicated and backslashes escaped) to refer to it

Tumblr media
You werent sure exactly what web you’d gotten yourself caught in at first.
But it was dangerous, not to mention treason.
It felt wrong, stiffly sitting across the cold dining room table of the frigid, Capital Penthouse apartment you were forced to frequent from the man you’d met almost a year ago now. Plutarch Heavensbee was a…’character’… to say the least. He’d been paying for an hour or two of your time every other week since he’d introduced himself and shaken Finnick’s hand and kissed yours that night at the Gala. He’d claimed to be “someone who could help”.
As much as a prestigious and well known and retired Game-Maker could, anyway.
Whatever that meant.
Your distrust was potent. Obviously.
The reasoning for his short and infrequent meetings had been inconclusive at first, feeling more like an extensive interview than actually answering any of your swarming questions. You hadn’t been able to figure out why a Game-Maker would care for spending coin on the Capital’s Desirables other than some sadistic power-trip. He kept his distance, always formal and polite. If you weren’t so familiar with the cruel games the Capital elite often played, if you weren’t labeled as Desirable, you might have thought him kind. Instead, you remained suspious. Heavensbee’s questions had been simple enough. Asking about how you were coping following your Games, if your life was what you’d dreamed it to be following victory, your brothers, your father.
The mundane nature of the questions had your jaw tensing, aware that you’d have to word things carefully. Even if they weren’t in the room with you, you were all too aware of how many eyes and ears were on you at all times. You’d answered as blandly as you could manage. Short and concise while maintaining proper poise and eye contact. It was what was expected of you, anyway, as the Capital’s Doe. You hated the nickname but couldn’t seem to shake it. As time went on the Game-maker seemed to get more comfortable, his questions more personal, but always phrased in a backwards sort of way that left the answers open ended and vague. He was planning something. Something bigger than just hosting conversation and something bigger than just the current pool of Victors. He’d mentioned speaking with others only once or twice. Finnick included, as you’d immediately confronted the honey-tanned male after your third meeting with Plutarch months ago. You’d been anxious, a kernal of fear almost convincing you something had gone wrong. A leaden stone in your stomach that kept you on edge.
It’d been late, nearly half-past midnight when you’d gripped the cold, bronze knocker on the 65th Victor’s home and rapped twice. You hadn’t bothered to change from the dress you’d been wearing, even if the horrid garment was more translucent than opaque in some places, merely wrapping a thin shawl over your shoulders to protect yourself from the chilled air. A handful of moments pass, and you start to doubt he’ll answer, but just as you move to turn away the lock clicks and the wooden door creaks as its pulled open.
Your name is a tired rasp on Finnick’s lips.
“Can we talk?” You almost whisper, as if your voice had suddenly been caught in your throat. You rationalize the tightness to be your nerves following Plutarch’s visit. Definitely not the fact Finnick looked like he’d just rolled out of bed. Or maybe off a sofa, considering how quickly he’d answered the door. Surely it wasn’t the mess of bronze waves atop his head appearing messy and soft and frizzed all at the same time, nor the glazed over look in his eyes or his groggy expression. Or the fact he didn’t have a shirt.
He says your name again, the syllables rough on his voice and you debate just leaving instead.
“Get yourself together!” You internally curse at yourself while clearing your voice, averting your eyes from his face to your trembling hands.
“Get In. It’s freezing out.” The male sighs while all but tugging you inside his home. You almost balk, batting his hand away from your arm but he only lets go once the door closes. You give a small huff of annoyance, remembering why you found the 65th Victor insufferable all over again. “I’m fine,” you quip and he gives you a roving look that has your eyes narrowing as a sly smirk tugs the corners of his mouth. “Uh-huh, sure. Whatever you say, sweetheart.”
Sweetheart.
He’s rubbing a hand over his face now, trying to rub the sleep from his features, and you partially regret having woken him up. Bristling under the term of endearment, feeling the tips of your ears warm as it catches you off-guard but you’re quick to shove down the heat pooling in your chest. He was half asleep, probably hadn’t even registered the word on his tongue, you again try to rationalize. It meant nothing. Just another part of his playboy act.
“May I ask what is so important the Darling’s Doe must seek my company this late at night?” Finnick drawls, his voice still rough with sleep and you try not to grimace at the nickname. You knew The Darling to be an early riser, but clearly he was atleast a bit of a sarcastic grump if awoken from his slumber prematurely. “Don’t be a prick because I interrupted your beauty sleep.” You muse, half rolling your eyes and he chuckles, “It’s Heavensbee.” You add and he’s quick to go quiet. Interesting.
“Has he been visiting you?” You ask rather bluntly, “Paying for your time and just asking questions?” You continue and recognition flickers in his eyes. “Why?” He asks and this time you really do roll your eyes. “It’s weird!” you exclaim, biting back the urge to throw your hands up. “Depends on what you’d qualify as weird,” The Darling rebuttals and you shoot him a pointed look. “You kow what I mean, Peacock.” You snap, gritting your teeth and he chuckles again, eliciting another annoyed huff from you while you cross your arms over your chest. “He’s seen me twice.” The Darling relents and your expression softens a fraction. “You?” He queries and you nod.
“Three times.”
Its his turn to nod and he gestures for you to follow him down the entry hall of the house.
You knew the homes of the Victors were cookie-cutter identical in both outward appearance and indoor floor plan. Only personal decoration and belongings dfferentitated the homes. You allow your gaze to sweep over the walls. They’d been painted a shade of blue that leaned more grey while the intricate mouldings remained white. You hadn’t thought of painting the walls of your own house, before. Now that you thought of it, you hadn’t actually ever been inside Finnick’s house before. And he hadn’t ever been to yours. It was an odd revelation but one you tried to brush off. It didn’t really matter, anyway. He leads you into the kitchen, another twin to your own as you glance around. There was only minimal furnishings, and your gaze lands back on the honey-tanned male as he gestures you to take a seat at the kitchen table.
“Tea?” He asks and you simply nod as you make yourself comfortable.
He sets a kettle on the stovetop to boil before slipping into the seat across from yours. “So? What do you want to know?” He asks nonchalantly, tilting his head as if he were a dog being asked for a walk. You have to smother the warmth in your chest all over again. “What has he asked you about?” You reply, trying to keep your tone even and neutral. He’s quiet for a moment, clearly sorting through his thoughts for the information. He bites the inside of his cheek as he thinks, his sea-green gaze averting for a moment.
“Different things,” The 65th Victor shrugs, placing his forearms on the table, “He asked about my Games, the trident, the interviews.” He begins to explain and you nod along intently as he rehashes the meetings. “He asked if I liked being a Victor…” Finnick pauses, something grim crossing his features that you hadn’t seen before. “Asked if I was happy…” he mutters additionally, his gaze flicking up to yours.
“Are you?” You ask, holding his gaze and its almost as if you’re seeing one another for the first time all over again.
“Gods no.” Finnick shakes his head and you can’t help the relief that floods your veins. “Are you?” He asks, already knowing the answer.
“Don’t make me laugh, Odair,” You almost snort and he cracks a cheeky grin your way.
Another moment of silence passes, but its a more comfortable one than before.
“Did he ask what you thought of the Capital?” You ask next, your voice almost hesitant. Finnick’s grin falters but doesn’t break. “Yeah, he did.” the Darling responds.
“And how did you reply?” You press further, knowing you probably sound just as invasive as the Game-Maker had. “How did you answer?” He parrots back, arching a brow and you leash the urge to roll your eyes again. You were treading into uncharted waters together, sharing secrets that could end not only your prospective “Careers” as Victors but your lives. But a part of you already knew his answer to the question just like he knew yours as you stare at one another in tense anticipation.
You break first.
“There’s too many people watching up there. I couldn’t give him an honest answer.” You sigh, leaning back in your chair.”It’s too dangerous to be honest with anyone.”
“You’re honest with me,” Finnick speaks and your jaw tenses.
“That’s different,” You try to brush him off.
“Is it?” He presses, leaning forward slightly, pressing his forearms into the dark wood of the table firmly. “Who says I won’t turn my back and spill everything to the next Peacekeeper I see?” He adds, and the tilt of his head is suddenly less coy and curious but rather calculating. A predator assessing prey, a glimpse to the version of the man who’d killed his way to victory during his Games at just fourteen. Ice lashes up your spine and you suddenly feel small, vulnerable. You hated this feeling.
“Stop it,” You mutter but his expression doesn’t change. “If there wasn’t any form of trust between us I’d already be dead.” You snap, a venom you weren’t fast enough to leash slipping into your voice and something like mischief flickers in the 65th Victor’s gaze. He backs off, raising his hands in mock surrender and its an effort not to bare your teeth at him. “You’re not funny.” You grumble and he rolls his eyes with a humored scoff. “Trust is conditional for people like us,” Finnick shrugs, and you know he’s right. “Unlike you, I find I have more…sway… with how closely I’m watched. I’ve played their game longer and I know more of their tricks. I know how to use my words as a weapon of their own.” Finnick explains, relaxing back into his chair and his words have regained your attention as you give him a quizzative look. “Are you going to keep responding in tongues or are you actually going to get to the point?” You huff and he smirks, leaving you to glare back at him. “I told Plutarch what I thought,” he starts and you feel your senses perk up in anticipation to his answer. “I told him The Capital was Great, but even things that are great age. They develop cracks. And those cracks need to be repaired before something breaks. Like how some teacups are repaired with gold. Creating something new from something that was broken.” Finnick explains and it takes you a moment to decipher what he was saying.
The Capital had cracks.
Cracks that possibly weren’t being fixed fast enough. Cracks The Capital possibly didn’t even know about.
Atleast not yet.
“Holy shit,” You’d cursed as everything suddenly clicked.
“Nice language,” Finnick muses and you’re about to make a comeback when the kettle finally sings and you both physically start as it cuts the remaining tension in the room.
You’re left to gape in your revelation as the honey-tanned Darling pushes back and stands from the table, swiftly moving into the kitchen to shush the shrieking kettle. The air around him is casual and your eye twitches as you realize he’d probably figured things out days if not weeks ago. ‘Damnit..” You swear as your brows sew together and you scrub your hands over your face, not caring nor really remembering the shimmers Hyacinth had painstakingly applied to your skin before the meeting you’d had with the Game-Maker. Finnick says something and you don’t catch it, too lost in your own thoughts.
“What?” You ask, your tone more caught aloof than you would have liked it to be.
“Relax,” Finnick muses, his all too familiar cheshire smirk flashing his too-white canines your way in the dim light of the kitchen. “How do you like your tea?”
The familiar urge to throttle the Peacock flashes through you, dampening any embarrassment to a dull thrum in the back of your mind but you use a sharp exhale to expel the desire from your system before telling him your preferences. Minutes later Finnick returns to the table, two mugs in his hands and he sets one across from you before retaking his seat. You both stare into the brewing herbs a moment before he turns back to the conversation at hand.
“He’s planning something.” Finnick says and you nod, “That much is obvious…” You mutter, keeping your gaze on your steeping drink. “You seemed pretty shell-shocked a minute ago,” The Darling muses and you cut him a glare while muttering a “Shut up,” under your breath that has his cheshire smirk returning.
“Make me,”
Oh, you’d kill him.
You really would, if you actually had the gaul to, that was.
That late night conversation had lasted well into the wee hours of morning. Neither of you had remembered when you’d moved from the kitchen to the parlor, Finnick stretched across his golden sofa while you’d curled up in an armchair after drinking your tea to the dregs. Neither of you remembered the other falling asleep either.
Not till the morning sun streamed through sheer curtains and inevitably roused you both.
Finnick made more tea, though a stronger, caffeinated variety this time around and you gave him your thanks and a quiet “Be careful,” before taking your leave and making the brisk trek across the culdesac of Victor’s Village to your own home.
Rumors flew through Capital gossip lines by that afternoon. Tales of your “disheveled” parting from the Darling’s home and you wanted to all but melt into sea-foam in the waves and wash away for the following week and a half the news stuck around.
From then on, you were more discreet about your debriefings.

going on the twine rant again, lads. fair warning.
-
the twine editor is theoretically great software
which is to say, twine editor is far and away the best execution of "a text game maker for people who mostly make text and not games" that presently exists. it's notable for making wholly self-contained (read: does not require interpreter software) text games with functioning mechanics at about the level of code literacy you could feasibly ask from people who brushed off of other more complicated software
this is in large part because the text adventure and IF ecosystem has the same problem as the (similarly insular and incestuous) scorewriting ecosystem: all of the software is made to be used by a group of like 50 people who don't use anything else, so they just settle for whatever exists
twine solves a lot of these problems by simply existing as an html game maker that can automate all of the functions of a gamebook out of the box. the editor has features which (to me) seem to be inspired by scrivener, which is my favourite WYSIWYG writing software for longform fiction on the market (I prefer writing in LaTeX but I can acknowledge that's a habit I picked up and not an endorsement of LaTeX)
that being said, even though there's an obvious utility to being able to prototype out rpgs and such in twine incredibly quickly, I can't really recommend people... use twine for that. because of the problems.
the twine editor is also kind of beautiful for all the ways in which it issoftware designed to torture the user
twine exists with one foot in "games" and one foot in "writing" and this overlap is the totality of its intended use. this space of compromise is still the best that's been made for this specific scene, but it means that edge cases are (at absolute best) operating twine in much the way that someone being hanging onto the edge of a shattered cockpit is operating an airliner
I could go on and on about the specific elements of twine's design that drive me insane, and in how it punishes you both for making too much of a book and for making too much of a game, but there's one problem that kind of sticks out as a simulacrum of this whole issue
by design, twine organises its projects as a story map. this is kind of like the middle point between scrivener's storyboard and a whiteboard, but specialised for use in making text games. this means that each node on it is one screen, called a card, that you can open and edit
doing this opens a window for text input, and the exact contents of this window kind of depend on which format you're writing your story in, but as a rule, you write everything into these sub-windows and that's the game
because twine runs in one window, these cards open more like menus than true windows. you can have one open at a time, and when you need to test something, you close the window and press the button to test the game. simple as
now, for making software, it's helpful to have a versioning function of some sort in case, among other reasons, you fuck something up in a way you don't immediately notice
for writing, you usually want some sort of undo function, in case you accidentally delete something or edit over it
at the intersection of these two, twine does have an undo function. which works differently depending on which version of the editor you're using. in the web version, you get multiple layers of undo. that makes sense.
in the downloaded version, which is the version you have to use if you don't want to use your browser's local storage (?? you shouldn't be doing this) you get
one layer of undo.
in a modern text editor.
that you are expected to write in.
this is on top of the browser-hosted version of twine editor being significantly more stable than the desktop version, so that's obviously the version you're meant to use, which runs in stark contrast to like... how that should work. this should already be raising your blood pressure a little bit if you remember that the browser version of twine saves your project files to your browser's local storage
now, common to both versions is another important feature which seemingly exists to prevent data loss: twine automatically saves your changes when you exit out of a card
this means that, the moment you close a card to go test the changes you just made to your game, they are saved over the previous version of the game with no way to undo them
but there IS a way to get around this without having to write in an entirely separate word processor! several ways even. you can even use the downloaded version if you do this
duplicate the full project every single time you make changes that could necessitate an undo function
make a copy of every card you edit in case you need to revert to it after testing, then remember to delete it afterwards
if you're editing the cards themselves, see option 1, because there is no way to undo deletion of cards in the story map
and like... that's not good. it's kind of the hell machine for killing all human beings, actually
it's also not a problem remotely unique to twine, because this is the kind of thing you see in most niche-specialised software where there isn't really a distinction made between "this is an expected frustration of working on any artistic project" and "this is something completely insane that absolutely should not be the case and isn't tolerated in immediately adjacent comparable creative fields"
twine can be used to make longer projects, but at the point where you're recommending two layers of supporting software that overlap so hard with the editor that they should be redundancies, it becomes clear that the only thing it's really fit-for-purpose to do is non-linear fiction consisting of two or three paragraphs per card
and that's generally not what it's used for! because that sort of thing is almost universally understood as a stepping stone towards using twine for making either longform non-linear fiction or full-featured rpgs
twine could be really useful software, and in fairness it's generally better than the alternatives it supplanted in its niche (people making little interactive poems probably shouldn't be trying to use Inform or TADS), but it really seems like it was designed with as a cursed amulet meant to cause as much grief as possible while being difficult to justify throwing away

Togainu no Chi Variety Voice CD
Tumblr media
This Drama CD contains two short audio dramas (Toshima Urban Legend and Arbitro’s Plot), audio versions of Arbitro’s Room (Tracks 5-14) and a must-listen final hidden track (Arbitro Time – Vischio Company Song). Link to translations [Google Drive folder]
Track List: Summary
Track 01: Short Drama “Toshima Urban Legend” At Rin’s insistence, Akira and co. check out a certain urban legend. Is the building really haunted? Or is a flesh-and-blood monster responsible for the sightings? Did someone actually feed their pet cat Line for a laugh? [Translation]
Tracks 02-04: Compilation of Reactions The characters react to various scenarios: someone breathing into their ear, coming across an abandoned kitten by the roadside and being told by God that he will grant them one wish. [Translation]
Arbitro’s Room (Tracks 5-14) Audio version of a series of web pages on Nitro+Chiral’s official website, in which Arbitro (and occasionally, one or two of the other characters) answers selected questions from fans. The questions mostly revolve around the fans’ First World problems or their curiosity about Arbitro’s life. Arbitro’s ridiculous answers are truly worth reading for those with a macabre sense of humor. They are all just so typical of him 🤣 Click on the header (“Track....”) for the corresponding translation.
Tracks 05-06 How do I stop my grandmother from wearing my newly-bought socks? I’m too shy to speak to my crush. Does Arbitro keep his mask on at all times?
Track 07 My father’s voice is embarrassingly loud. What is the title of the song Arbitro hums at the beginning of each session? How do I become Arbitro’s pet dog?
Track 08 (Fill-in host: Keisuke) My two male pet hamsters seem to be more interested in each other than the sole female hamster. I’m depressed because I’m short. My dog hates me.
Track 09 (Fill-in host: Rin) I need an effective weight management plan for my chonky dog. My younger brother is a crybaby. How do I deal with a mouth ulcer?
Track 10 How do I leave a strong impression on interviewers?
Track 11 Someone is dumping their garbage in front of my house on days other than the collection days. My new boss keeps getting on my case.
Track 12 (Fill-in host: Akira) I am the only cat people in my social circle, which is filled with dog people. How do I get my hands on a mask similar to Arbitro’s? (unanswered)
Track 13 (Fill-in host: The Executioners) My arms are getting too thick. How can I make them slender like Arbitro’s?
Track 14 Is there any vacancy for a part-timer at Vischio? [Highly recommended!!]
Track 15: Short Drama “Arbitro’s Plot” Gwen orders Akira to investigate an unprecedentedly odd activity at Vischio. The truth turns out to be something much more benign, and, in Akira’s words, “a letdown.” [Translation]
Tracks 16-17 Arbitro’s Monologue Arbitro Time – Vischio Company Song [version with romaji for those who would like to sing along]

Mycorrhizal networks - Another Flood pov practice
The Body is not chitin, but it is covered in plates that the Chorus can worm between. The Body moves, heat and movement and sound is its undoing. Long sleeping spores cover its surface and millennia old instinct drives propagation. There is always a crack where the light shines through and seeking spores float on entropy and malice to find them. Spores beget threads beget tendrils.
Notes form in the Body's mind. Small songs sung in quiet voices, ancient hymns following the old knowledge. The music grows as does the network of mycelium-like threads spreading through the Body, wrapping tightly around muscle and bone and nerve. The mind clouds over as anchors form and new songs lead the dance to more productive measures.
The Body is strong. It was made, adapted over time to outlast all others in its species' own pursuit of survival. The Body was changed, warped and stretched, reinforced and molded, amplified to adapt, just as the Chorus does. The hymns rumble through the Body as the web tightens and the meat learns how to move under this new power. The Body jerks and locomotes strangely, the mind trapped and then subsumed as the Chorus takes what it needs. Knowledge and experience and a host made pliant as the web infiltrates the brain and nerves. Signals sent in panic never reach their destination, neurotransmitters and chemicals shift as the song fills the mind and the Body joins the dance.
Its shell flashes warnings that are quickly drowned out by the Chorus. Nothing will hinder the song. More will join the Chorus soon. Propagation continues.

Traditions
Every tradition had to start with its first iteration as some point. The hope was that the reunion party was going to be something similar to what Withers had hosted six months after the Netherbrain's defeat but with more people attending. As well as the regular suspects, friends and family were also welcome, which was how Ulder Ravengard was stood next to Minthara and finding himself both enchanted and caught in a web of ambition. Their little chat was interrupted by none other than Astarion and Gale.
"All I'm saying is that my mother has a lot of opinions and will share them with those who care to listen and those who don't."
Astarion's scoff was audible from quite a distance away.
"At least we know where you got that particular trait from. Tell me, was she also the one to teach you that tongue trick?"
Lae'zel clapped her hands over Xan's ears and glared at the two bickering.
"Rolling one's 'r' is an essential part of wizardry, even first years at Blackstaff could tell you that enunciation is vital in spellwork. But see? This is exactly what I'm trying to say. You won't get my mother's blessing, she's very much a woman of her generation."
"You forget how old I am, dear. Trust me, I know how these things go, you'll be betrothed to me by the end of the night."
Perhaps it wasn't the most romantic of proposals but then again anyone who knew Astarion would have thought Orin was back if he suddenly got all sappy. Even Gale's determination to have his mother's blessing was expected too. The most surprising part of the whole thing was that Gale and Astarion were actually still together. Maybe it shouldn't have been such a curiosity, Gale was loyal to a fault and Astarion was not in the habit of letting go of good things he could sink his claws into.
Any further bickering was cut short by the arrival of none other than Morena Dekarios. She greeted her son with a sturdy hug before giving Astarion the same treatment.
"It's good to finally meet the one my son has been so besotted with."
"The honour is all mine," Astarion drawled and took Morena's hand in his, kissing the back of it. "Though I believe we have another matter to discuss. In exchange for Gale's hand in marriage I can give you four hens, two geese, an ox and a piglet."
"Astarion!" Gale half hissed half yelped. All eyes and ears were on them.
"Hush dear, it's okay, you're worth it. And I won't even ask for proof of your virginity. That's a little too old fashioned for me. What do you say, Morena? May I take Gale as mine?"
A titter of laughter was the first reply before Morena hid her grin behind a hand.
"Oh dear. You're rather serious, aren't you?"
"I can make it two piglets if you insist." Astarion gave a wry smile and eyed Gale before turning back to Morena. "You drive a hard bargain but you're right, if I could, I'd offer the world to you for his hand."
Morena patted Astarion's arm, eyes soft.
"That's all I need to hear, dear. And why don't you keep your menagerie for the start of your married life? The youth need all the help they can get in this day and age. Just ask Gale if he'll say yes, you have my blessing."
Eyebrow raised, Astarion turned to Gale.
"Well?"
"Of course I'll marry you. Even if you have some strange ideas sometimes."
"Excellent." The cocksureness melted from Astarion and he looked sheepish. "I don't suppose you know what to do with some hens, geese, an ox and a couple of piglets, do you?"

Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending stupid tech corporations here (as if), there are plenty of bad practices in the tech industry. Data servers and the production of hardware are major energy consumers that drive up greenhouse emissions. But so are most industries.
My point is about putting the blame of climate change in the individual citizen. My point is that you can't measure CO2 emissions in "smartphone charges". You need to have perspective.
Tumblr media
This is a pie chart from 2016* on greenhouse emissions per sector. Notice that, in no way, things such like web hosting manage to break even a 1%. I would especulate these fall under "Commercial". And those emissions are not from the industry itself but from its energy source. 70%~ of ALL greenhouse gases come from energy production. THIS is the heaviest thing to tackle.
Everything else is good too, sustainable servers, recycling, I'm all for it. My point, again, is that making consumers choose between I don't fucking know, twitter or tumblr is completely pointless. To have a better tech industry you need to ask for well enforced regulations that cover all of them. To fight climate change, you need to tackle all the above. This is not the work of a single individual but the work of organized millitancy, scientific research and state regulation with millions of people involved.
*yes, it is a little obsolete, I would appreciate newer graphs

In regards to the Windows 10 LTSC thing, the caveat is that it uses build 19044 (version 21H2), so it's very likely that certain programs simply won't be compatible with it
Additionally, one article said that even if they do push out a new LTSC version, there's no way to simply upgrade, you have to reinstall the whole OS just to get that new version. There's also conflicting information that it doesn't need a product key, but if it does, then you have to get it through enterprise vendors who may or may not be willing to sell you a key for a single device (or a small batch of devices, ex: 5)
It could very well be an option for some people to ride out W10 for a little longer, but these are just some things to bear in mind
Thanks for your note! It's clear you've thought about this.
The compatibility thing gets thrown around a lot, but honestly one thing Microsoft gets right with Windows is backwards compatibility. I write software for a living and one aspect of my job is retrotesting new builds of my stuff on older platforms. Currently, everything I do works on Win11 back to WinXP.
Of course, companies can choose to break compatibility. Steam famously stopped working on Win7 awhile back, forcing users to upgrade. But the core Win32 API hasn't changed in 30+ years which is remarkable.
Assuming your software doesn't need the latest build of Windows... why bother?
Bottom line, I personally am not worried about not being able to install something. When's the last time that happened with you?
If you treat Windows as a program launcher (which it is) instead of an ecosystem (which it also is, because Microsoft wants you to live there and pay them $$$) then the 'problem' becomes simpler: will the programs YOU want to run work with an old build of Win10? If so, there's no need to upgrade.
Microsoft has successfully created a religion around Windows Update. You MUST have the latest patches! Otherwise, you are VULNERABLE. Bad Things will Happen if you Don't Upgrade! Be afraid!!
That is simply not true. In my living room I drive our big screen TV with an ancient Dell box (circa 2009) running Win7 and Media Player Classic (MPC). It plays TV shows & movies just fine, exceeding DVD & Bluray resolutions. It hasn't received a Windows Update in a decade, but continues to chug along reliably. I installed Malware Bytes to make up for Windows Defender being out of date, since it has Firefox installed and we do use it to noodle around on the web occasionally. Youtube on a big screen is fun.
Will I ever upgrade that Windows? Probably not. Maybe if the host Dell Optiplex (2009!!) ever dies but otherwise... why would I?
My main workstation is Win10 and I plan to ride this thing until it explodes. Win11 is super annoying, and all the machines I run Win11 on are infested with Copilot and nag screens about OneDrive. I recently downgraded Office 365 to Office 2016 for that very reason.
Sense a pattern here?
tl;dr: Win10, even the older builds, are adequate for the typical user, for the foreseeable future. Installing & activation are stupidly easy. No product keys needed.
Finally: if you're nervous about Win10 there exist stripped down enterprise builds of Win11 available as well.

What is Ninja Turtles: Brotherhood?
Tumblr media
Brotherhood came into conception February 2023 when we started to see more of the Mutant Mayhem movie set to release later in August. While I don't mind the franchise skewing young--I myself first saw Ninja Turtles as a child-- I found myself wishing there was also some TMNT animated content for older fans. At the time I was watching DC animated series like Young Justice and Harley Quinn. It was nice they recognized that there were fans of all ages and they were putting out animated content for older audiences while also making content for kids. I found myself wishing that TMNT would follow that example. And then I asked myself, if I had the opportunity to make a TMNT animated series for older fans, what would it be about? At first, I had nothing and wasn't intending to explore the idea further. Then, one day, I was driving home from work and I suddenly had an idea.
For most of 2023 I explored the concept. Since animation is my background, that was the medium I had in mind when putting it together. Of course, there's no way I could animate a whole series by myself as a fan project. I first thought about maybe trying animatics, but that also seemed a bit overwhelming. For a time, I thought maybe I would let it go as it seemed too big of a project for one person. But then the 40th anniversary came around and I decided I wanted to do it for them. For a lifetime of turtles. So I decided on a web toons type format. It seemed easier as a one-person project than the typical comic book format. So here I am after a year of development, attempting my best at putting out a TMNT fan comic for the anniversary. It's meant as a love letter to both the franchise as a whole and the fans. It pulls from many different iterations while also telling its own story. As such, it's meant for not just fans of one iteration, but for fans of any of the iterations. Just Ninja Turtle fans in general. And I'm aiming to provide a full character arc for each turtle so, no matter who's your favorite, you'll get some good content.
Plot: The series takes place five years after the defeat of the Shredder. In a story meant for older fans, I decided the turtles should be older, too. No longer teenagers, they are now 25. The idea is that everything that you expect to see in a typical TMNT series has already happened to them, and now they are navigating their world and experiencing new adventures as adults, trying to find meaning after their main adversary is gone.
You can find development art I've done over the year by checking out the #ntbrotherhood tag. I post new parts every Monday. And I usually post here on Tumblr unless I feel they are too big. You can find the full comic collected on Webtoons (for as long as they'll put up with hosting a fan comic.)
