Adventure In Black Salt

Black salt is a powerful ingredient for spells from what I understand. I decided to make some to use. There isn't really a standard formula (welcome to the craft 😆), but I guess how much of each thing is up to you depending on the powers of your black salt.

My black salt has:

Ashes - protection

Egg Shells - protection

Black Pepper - protection and banish negativity

Lavender - cleansing and protection

Rosemary - protection and cleansing

Himalayan Pink Sea Salt - cleansing and purification

This is going to be a POWERFUL addition for protect and cleansing in spells, rituals and more!

Egg & egg shells, Cascarilla) uses and legends

Once upon a time it was thought that witches and fairies would fly around in empty eggshells, it was best to destroy them before the fairies could take them. Another one is to clean egg shells place them where your fairy garden is with some milk and honey inside them, or a small sweet cake as a gift for your garden faries.

Egg shells can be used magical ways, grind them up, sprinkle them around your entrance way as a protection barrier, use them in cleansing and fertility spells. You can use them to create your circle, draw sigils with them.

Egg cleanse are very popular, take a room tempeture egg, rub it all over your body, crack it into a clear glass of room temperature water, do not look down into the glass, but look from the center. If there is a bloody yoke malevolent workings have been done to you. If there are strings going up to the top of the water or making cobwebs, you have been hexed or cursed. If there is a dome over the yolk, you are protected, small bubbles mean any negativity was absorbed.

Superstition says to bury a egg in your garden come spring to insure a abundant crop. Throw a egg or place egg shells on your roof to protect you from a witches hex.

Egg Shells to break Defences

I recently made some painted eggs for Spring and I had leftovers. I made a hole in each end with a pin, blew out the insides and rinsed them. Now that they're dried out I can use them un hexes when I want to "break" someone's defences/protections.

Eggs are incredibly strong and they shell houses and physically protects a living being. So in a hex I want to do, I'll paint and customise the egg with whatever I feel makes it resemble my targets defences and then completely shatter them.

I bought a motar and pestle last week and finally used it last night (and for the first time ever) to crush some eggshells I saved for my compost.

Im not quite sure what mineral the tools are made from, but they feel and sound similar to granite. Regardless, the composite material of both the pestle and motar helped me get the job done is such little time it suprised me! I was able to grind up egg shells into a fine sediment in a span of a few minutes, when I thought it would take a bit longer.

I later sprinkled the shell-powder into one of my larger compost bins and washed the tools with soap and water at my kitchen sink.

I'll have to reasearch how to best clean a mineral-based motar and pestle bc I can imagine not all cleaning and sanitizing methods are compatible with the material (I'm thinking about corrosive effects of soaps or lemon juice, for instance). But what I did last night seemed to be okay. I just worry about sanitizing it bc (🥁) the motar and pestle has many great recipe applications in the kitchen!

I learned from this article that you can make fresh salsas, marinades, and chunky hummus with a motar and pestle and thats exciting to me! The process of cooking is becoming something I enjoy a lot. So its nice to know I have options to not only make my own meals instead of buying a processed mix from a big box grocer (support small business, eat organic and local!), but to see how food comes together by making it myself in traditional ways. I await the day I can make homemade salsa the way I like while impressing my friends and family with homemade marinades for yummy baked chicken dishes.

There's some dude (derogatory) on FB who is PISSED people are pricing their farm fresh eggs at $2 and $3 a dozen instead of $4+, saying it's "disrespectful" and "undignified" and "I'm trying to feed my kids" like Sir, you are on a Facebook group page bitching about your neighbors egg prices because your pet chickens aren't earning you a living wage and you think it's your neighbors' fault, you do not have a leg to stand on here wrt dignity.

Also half the answers are like "I give them to friends and family free" or "I donate them to food banks" or "I'm making them affordable to folks who might not otherwise be able to get them now that they're so expensive in the store" and "if you think you're going to turn a profit keeping backyard chickens you have been wildly misled" and so on, and so forth, and I'm so living for it.

and I can tell you right now, he did NOT like my answer of "if you're trying to feed your kids, I hear eggs are edible."

She had held my foot up for a while trying really hard to pull me up thinking it was my arm, we laughed about it almost instantly after but it was still scary.
