🦚🌞Félix and Sunset Shimmer both stole magical jewelry and replaced it with identical copys. The main heroine Ladybug/Twilight Sparkle is their personal enemy. Both had their villain arc but resigned to the group and the magic of friendship. Félix wields the miraculous of emotion; Sunset Shimmer embodies the element of empathy. Both are top students. Sunset Shimmer insulted the human mane 6 kind of like Félix with Adriens phone videos. Both don't know the first thing about friendship.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
🦚🌞The red moon part and Sunsets Demon Shimmer arc are somewhat comparable too; here are some Sunset quotes: "Spoiler alert: I was bluffing when I said I was going to destroy the portal. I don't want to rule this pathetic little high school; I want Equestria! And with my own little teenage army behind me, I am going to get it!" "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I didn't know there was another way." "Hmpf. I have better things to do than socialize. l'm going to re-read 'Advanced Elemental Magical Practices' and then practice for my advanced summoning spells exam. What are you studying for? Nothing, that's what."

I do think that sometimes when people have terrible opinions about actual play, especially about bold choices, it's because they haven't played D&D much, but honestly just as often I feel it's because they have played D&D and they're projecting their own frustrations with a past home game onto the players or DM. And frankly, more and more often I find that when I really dig into opinions I don't like there's a small amount of obvious bigotry, and sometimes it's an ignorance D&D mechanics, but more frequently it's ignorance of heroic fantasy as a genre, and most of all it's just the sentiment of "I am feeling uncomfortable when we are not about me blorbo?"

Togiri for me is a many, many sided relationship. I see them as platonic, romantic, sexual, and even hateful sometimes, but above all they have this deep intrinsic understanding of each other. They recognize that there is no-one else who could understand them as truly as the other understands them. They recognise so many parts of themselves in the other, for better or for worse. They hate to see their flaws reflected back at them, but they also have great empathy when it comes to the other's struggles, which is a lot for them. Once they recognise this they anguish about how they've only just met now, but are grateful to have even met in the first place.

like Shiv's mean sometimes and emotionally stunted and that's basically it She's a cheater but he was fine with possibly cheating and it was only when he thought she'd do it too that he was like no so like sorry I don't really feel bad about that part. And then there's the 'I don't love you' thing and that's it! she didn't send him to prison!!! he got himself into trouble, he could've exposed it and he did not and then he offered himself and she was like strategically that'd be good and then he was hurt that she didn't save him He keeps saying he loves her and that he cares throughout the first seasons and people just buy that fully and think Shiv doesn't when she's the one who shows it through actions! and like I get up until beginning of s4 Tom not knowing that but whenever I read people who watch the show saying she doesn't love her or that it was only Shiv hurting him until the betrayal I get so mad

ACTUALLY, Being a Spanish-English speaker that loves Pokepastas/Creepypastas is suffering because the Spanish side of the fandom has such fucking good rewrites and reimaginings (Seeth and Sonic Pizza and las cartuchos de Marcos/Marco's cartridges saga by Rocket Chunk) that no one outside that sphere will be able to enjoy because of the language barrier, it haunts me frankly, no one but me and 37 k viewers will know about Dolor Encarnado and how hard it goes.

no but the way team minato really does drive me insane. the thing is that obito likes rin in a very normal twelve year old boy way and he dislikes kakashi in a very normal twelve year old boy way. kakashi hates obito and rin wholeheartedly because hes like ten and traumatized and hates expressing emotions and unfortunately he likes them so he has to hate them. rin feels absolutely nothing towards either of them and then she worries that that's weird and then she gets mad when they feel things towards her because shes not feeling anything towards them???? and she wants things to be EQUAL. but also if she ever stops masking She Will Die On The Spot so she just never expresses any of this???? minato looks at his team like "kakashi has issues. and obito has issues too i think. but at least rin's normal!" but no at any given moment she is feeling either rage or apathy and. thats it. occasionally despair makes a guest appearance. she's just taken up "Being Normal" as her only hobby (LIFE is an infiltration mission and oh baby she's getting a good grade. but also how dare anyone fall for her facades) and also no one here is a people person. like rin. communication. its ok she's 12 and she kills people she can be a little weird. ugh.

not reblogging the post because i know it's a flawed test (and infuriatingly poorly worded to wit) but the RAADS-R autism test is going around again and i got an 87, which is i think what i got the last time i took it and also tracks - i'm personally pretty certain that i'm not autistic, but (autistic) friends of mine have historically been split on the issue because apparently i 'act' like an autistic person and they're often surprised when i say i'm actually not
#my *closest* friends tend to think i'm not but - to quote one guy - '[i'm] very smart and smart ppl tend to have traits that overlap'#which is an interesting assessment (he's autistic tb clear) and i think i know where it's coming from#i'm very direct with comments; i often have trouble with empathy; i'm clever (or y'know 'clever' for a given value of the word);#i don't feel emotions particularly strongly - or immediately - and this comes across in my speech#which i've been told can come off as detached/disaffected/uncaring even when it's not trying to be;#i'm apparently quite difficult to read sometimes? or come off as intimidating per neutral expression;#uh. one time an english teacher told me that i'd taught her to 'think more logically' whatever the fuck that means;#these are i think stereotypical autistic 'smart guy' traits which do not actually map on to the majority of autistic people afaik#at least not as a package or all expressed the same way - but in this case i think it's a category error#interesting food for thought nonetheless. i spend some time thinking about it because people do ask me occasionally#and the general autistic mileu of tumblr.com has actually helped me be nicer to myself about those traits#(as well as check myself abt other people; i'm not going to pretend to be some kind of saintly autistic whisperer or w/e)#considered going back and taking the test with the 'most generous' and then the 'least generous' answers and comparing them#but i can't be bothered. add a button for 'in specific situations' or die by my hand#i WILL say that some of said autistic friends who were surprised to find out i wasn't#expressly thought i WAS because they drew a correlation between their behaviour and my own#so it's not just 'people are misreading me because of stereotypes about how autistic people act' although i do think that can be an element#let me know if this post is weird or w/e it is literally just speculating on myself and how people perceive me#as a consequence of tending to occupy circles otherwise occupied largely by neurodivergent people#('fandom' and 'archaeology and anthropology')

The vibes I get is that Vio is like "my emotions are a weapon against me, therefore I must hide them" while Blue has the approach "my emotions are a weapon I deploy against others"
YES. THATS LITERALLY IT

no, More active effort, More conscious consideration
#boo we HATE your [the implicit perspective that anything taking less effort / less thought is Good / an Improvement]#and it's like Getting Good at anything. Some element does become easier to navigate successfully?#great so now you can forever move on to devoting more conscious effort to Another element / really further evolutions of the same process#build on whatever understanding. if you realize something you thought was Correct seems not to be?#congratulations: it was inaccurate / too limited all along but now You know that. Better#thinking about [effort] thinking about [communication] means emitting a psychic blast doing all the Languaging of honing ideas#and b/c interactions are two way streets you get no guarantee anyone will listen / put effort into considering what they're picking up#it's a delight when someone Does happen to feel you're worth effort but everyone could be doing that on principle. they are not lol.#some actually not [jfc] comment on an akd interview like#they speak w/such precision they're used to not being listened to or understood like#well we'd have to ask them ofc but i won't even argue w/that concept lol#having One Chance To Get A Word In Ever like but you don't really when ppl misunderstand you which is an inevitability#and then made more likely by any number of factors. including not considering you worth the effort of Trying to understand#if they misinterpreted what you're conveying no they didn't; that's just What You Meant. double empathy style#gotta be out here figuring out The Approach when the outlier is ppl who do Not [only think you're worth effort as An Obstacle]#alleging how when you like urself you will now Earn Friends like the more i respect myself the more idc if i'm Interpersonally Beliked#the interpersonal relationship that Is guaranteed relevant of ''we're both people in the world & so already in relation in just that way''#i love to Socialize by being in public ''alone'' like clearly no i'm not & like getting to take up my bit of space / do my bit of a thing#while this fits into everyone else also having their presence; doing their thing; is >>>>> being with a group as its nth wheel for no reaso#the effort of what communication works w/what person in what situation#the effort of what navigation of the inherent mutual effect of your sharing [whatever System (like; physics style)] works out best / better#when ppl imagining this are still limiting it to Certain Interactions b/w everyone anytime as the ''ideal''....#sesame street was out here like. sometimes there's people wanting to be alone / who are ''unfriendly'' & they're still part of things#once again it's like kermit thee frog knows what's up. mister macabee old timey barkeep what should i do#furiosa as well lmao i should watch fury road again. i can sense it#you can't have much of a chitchat with her. and yet

wrt my last reblog 'cause this is something I have been thinking about esp as my AU requires me to do things like close-reads for plot—
honestly my most major criticism of the 2012 Scarlet Spider comic so far, which is a comic I otherwise really like, is the way black men are portrayed throughout the series. It reeks of that kind of "scary black man"/"all black men are thugs" trope, stereotype, etc.
Like, if it went deeper i could see doing something w/ annabelle as a white punk doing that "dated a black boy to rebel" thing, especially with some of her other behavior in the series and her personality overall—I could definitely buy that. But like, as written? It's not that deep. It doesn't go anywhere near that, it's just exactly as shallow as it looks...
And honestly, as written, I feel like her ex doesn't really bring much (if anything) to the story in the end. tbh in some ways it detracts because it really kind of undercuts the entire beauty and the beast thing going on, like why are kaine and the both armadillo deserving of this thoughtfulness wrt to monstrosity and forgiveness and so on, but then annabelle's ex boyfriend is just this big mean scary muscular black man with absolutely no depth to his character? he's just angry and threatening?
And of course the answer is: Well, neither Kaine nor the Armadillo are black.
But like—and this is repeated throughout the series as part of Kaine's woes, right?—Kaine has killed people. Multiple people. And yes, we're to understand his motivation here has largely been survival, and a lot of the time he has been put into impossible situations, and has been abused and manipulated multiple times, and for all his jadedness is actually very naive—but like... In that case, are we to assume worse of Annabelle's ex, who is a regular human man?
(albeit apparently 7 feet tall, which, again see the post i just reblogged as far as dehumanization of black men goes. obviously there are 7 foot tall black men irl, like Shaq, but it's the specific way this character is presented, right? It's not just that he's tall or has dark skin. He is presented as an inherent threat, and as an unsympathetic character, and the visual design is part of that. He's not a real person, he was designed to evoke specific emotions and assumptions, and the fact that he's built like a concrete wall and towers over Kaine is part of that)
(and what irony in that Kaine was himself originally designed to be large and imposing and beast-like, partially as an inversion, partially to humanize him, by doing the opposite)
But Kaine is white, of course.
Anyway I genuinely almost expected some kind of twist to Annabelle's ex in that issue, and there was none, and i think that's a major failing on the series' part, esp since pretty much the only other black characters (whether good or bad or neutral) are mostly like... glock-toting gangsters...
My other main criticism is that I dislike the way Zoe is portrayed as simply "craaaaazy" w/ almost no nuance to that trait, though I think there are some interesting aspects of her relationship with Kaine and in the fact that she like... stalks him, and how that interplays with his arguably traumatic romantic/sexual history.
The stuff with Zoe is a more minor criticism by comparison but it's still something that bugs me because it has something to it but it's just not really there.
Anyway, it is a bummer because I really genuinely like Kaine's solo, but these two specific things are frustrating in their existence, especially because they really could have just... been avoided from the start? like there's not really a reason for these details to be this way...
but idk...
