Finally finished the other pocket of my denim jacket! The parrot flower came from an illustration from a book from 1871 called “Nonsense Botany” that served as a whimsical embroidery idea book for children and adults.

AAA it's finally done!!

Took me forever to embroider around the paint but the jacket backpiece is finally here! Different colors for the Holy Bird art by the wonderful @pansylair go check out his other stuff 😁

If you're interested in textile art, please understand it will not end at one of the arts. Interested in weaving? There are many different types, so now you're learning about the culture these styles come from, and with that comes learning about their clothing. Now you're interested in learning how to sew clothing, and much of it has some kind of embroidery. So you do research and see how beautiful it is, and different types of embroidery exist. You decide to learn embroidery and get curious about lace because often they're seen together.

Prepare for a journey and get real good at organizing. You'll soon lose space because of supplies and tools.

Legacy Denim Jacket by Anat International

Anat aims to revive the textile industry in Gaza, which has been under a restrictive and unjust blockade for more than 10 years. For this reason, our garments are 100% made in Gaza, Palestine, from the denim, to the handmade embroidery, to the designs. This is an important mission we have at Anat, especially given that the unemployment rate in Gaza is at a striking 52% due to the ongoing military siege imposed by Israel. This also means that it will be more difficult to package and export the garments because of the various military crossing points the jackets have to pass by on their journey outside of Gaza. Certainly, we hope these powerful pieces not only transform your wardrobe, but also transform Palestine.

Aaaahhhh I love this patch so much because one of my friends made it for me, finally got it sewed on yesterday! Also “keep running” because I got bored in class and wrote random crap all over it.

Finished the rainbow shorts!!!

With my wife's help, I finally got one of my three pairs of jeans repaired! I've wanted to fix the worn out upper thighs for quite some time.

I took some notes on how much space I needed to reinforce and drew a paper pattern. I found some gray denim that isn't too too different from the original fabric. However, my jeans have stretch and the gray denim I found doesn't. To get around this, I cut the denim on the bias to give it some stretch when pulled vertically and horizontally, the types of strain it would endure as a patch.

After that, I removed any pilling and cut out the most damaged parts of the fabric. Then I basted the patches in place and freehand sketched some tree bark patterns. I embroidered them with three strands of blue-green-yellow variegated cotton floss. My wife did a few rows when she had some time, as well.

I ended up needing to reinforce some of the work but I'm still very happy with it. You can't really see it too well when I'm standing, but it's visible enough when I sit or kneel or what have you.

I'm going to do this to my other pairs, as well. One of them is too damaged to wear and the other is newer but actively wearing out, as well. On these next attempts, I'm going to secure the patches to the existing seam so it doesn't pop out from the hole.
