The oral exams are getting closer and closer. I am still in the process of summarizing my political didactics seminar.

There’s a certain ease to writing in your own language, that can’t be paralleled in any other. It’s among other things in the richness of connotations for every word, the certainty of knowing how to use them, the freedom to play against conventions because There’s no fear someone would mistake the intentional breaking of rules for not knowing them.
Accordingly, there’s a certain heaviness to writing in a foreign language. A certain... going against the stream, struggling to find the right words, labor that has to be put into understanding the nuances of certain phrases, and a general lack of certainty that what's written is enjoyable due to that added heaviness. I can say that, for myself, I feel like when I write in English, it will never float out the way writing does for English speakers, and I will never be as free, creative and sure of myself in English as I am in my mother tongue.
I love you, people writing fic in a language foreign to them. For not letting it stop you. For not letting that extra weight immobilize you. For your incredible fics that, heaviness and all, make everyone’s life richer and more beautiful.
I love you, people writing fic in their native tongue which is foreign to most humans out there, you who choose to swim around joyfully in your own language’s waters, even though you know a lot less people are likely to be diving into your writing. You’re making the lives of the people not speaking the lingua franca better and more beautiful.
I love you, people writing fic, no matter in which language and whatever challenges you’re facing when you write. This is me wishing for all of you to always be cherished, appreciated and celebrated for your contributions.

transcript: Our deepest apologies for the English language. Your perserverance and triumph in the face of such adversity is an inspiration to all. Best wishes in your future encounters with it! Sincerely, The Management
To all of you for whom English is not your native language, yet one you’re learning anyway, from a native English-speaker who still managed to misspell ‘perseverance’ in your apology certificate (apologies for that as well).

I was thinking that I’ll forever be grateful to little me for being so constant in learning English.
Reading Lotr in ov with just little help needed made me realise how far I’ve actually come and how much I own to my nerdiness and neurodiversity.
For being a 13 yo with nothing but the deep urge to watch the next season of Merlin even if it hasn’t been dubbed yet marked the beginning of my journey through fandom - and consequentially my journey as a fanfic reader and writer.
First in my own language, then shifting towards a more “international approach” when I’ve discovered Ao3.
Maybe I’m not always as fluent as I’d like to be, but I am still able to connect with a lot of people and for that I’ll always try to remember with more kindness my younger self. Because without her every fanfiction I’ve ever written wouldn’t be there. Without her I wouldn’t be able to watch a 45 minutes long video essay about queerness in the lord or the rings. Or enjoy bondi rescue. Or watch that weird movie that only has English subtitles. Certainly I wouldn’t be so much into 20 men racing without understanding English.
I see you, baby me. Now I really do.

Please Read!
I am very pleased and excited with this account, it is a very new thing to me to be contributing to a community like the writer's or a fandom. Well, I showed this silly thing to my best friend, who speaks English way better then I do, and she encouraged me with it, which I appreciate, but she told me I usually make some little mistakes, so if you notice me writing something wrong, please know that I am trying to correct myself and learn!
Some of my most common mistakes apparently are mistaking "history" and "story" since it has an important difference in English. Other thing I unfortunately do a lot is misplacing "a" and "an".
Thank you for your understanding, and thank you bestie! You are an awesome friend and teacher.

Grading a class test. I was never this person who blamed social media for spelling and grammar problems. But slowly, I do think it has an impact on the current middle and high school students. How could schools compensate for that? I wonder.

Although if you moved to an English-speaking country later in life and only adjusted your vocabulary but not your spelling, feel free to vote as well :D
