August 21, 2024 - Via BDS Movement:
WE DIDI IT! In a major BDS win for human rights activists against financial institutions complicit in Israel’s 76-year-old regime of settler colonialism, apartheid and now genocide, French multinational insurer AXA was forced to sell its investments in all major Israeli banks. These banks are considered the backbone of Israel’s illegal settlement enterprise on occupied Palestinian stolen lands. The global “Stop AXA Assistance to Israeli Apartheid” campaign targeted AXA’s investment in Israeli banks and Elbit Systems for their complicity in Israel’s illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank, which constitute war crimes under international law, and for other grave violations of Palestinian human rights. The company faced divestment pressure, reputational damage and a consumer boycott campaign. [...] AXA is not off the hook, though. Amidst Israel’s live streamed genocide in Gaza against 2.3 million Palestinians, the coalition will continue to monitor AXA’s investments to make sure it is not complicit in the ongoing genocide. Watch this space!

ngl kinda just need oviposition with ftm reader. thats all LMAO
An FtM reader? A little tricky seeing I don't have any lived experience in that field, but this series was about pushing myself in new creative directions, so let's see what happens!
Kabr0z Writes Episode 35: Interdiction
Find the rest of the Kabr0z Writes anthology here!
CWs: oviposition; noncon; brainwashing; weird science; loss of property; alien abduction; kidnap; forced impregnation; inflation; egg inflation
A/N: Another sci-fi story because I did a feral egging scene recently, and while that's pretty hot variety really is the spice of life. I'm also couching this one in the world of Elite, so that's fun.
Still taking the time to remind you all that requests are free and open, I have a bit of a backlog after yesterday to work through but if you ask for something, it'll probably happen!
#####################################
Exit Frameshift in three, two, one...
Bang. You pulled hard on the stick, steering away from the star and zeroing the throttle. The reality of supercruise means you're still moving at about 30 klicks a second, but that's as close to stationary when considering distances measured in light-seconds. You steered to your next jump vector and rose from your flight seat. Not best practice, your engine emissions a beacon across the whole system, but you're well past the pirate belt in uncharted space. The only contacts you'll see out here are either enterprising extreme-range miners or the desperate pirates preying on them, even they're vanishingly rare.
Space is big. Really big. Even a star system is small in comparison. There's a good chance nobody's ever been here before.
The thought comforted you as you rehydrated some food and applied your hormones. You thought back to home: a dump of a refinery station in the middle of Alliance space. You'd watch the spacers in the huge type-9 haulers bring in kilotons of ore at a time. You'd tried flying freight. The money's good, and there's no passengers to annoy you, but the trade routes were samey and the pirates were always hungry for a mark. You did exactly as much as you needed to kit out your Diamondback and set off for Beagle Point. They say reaching the end of everything changes you. You needed to see for yourself.
You never made it there.
Halfway through your tray of food-flavoured protein paste your instrument panel lit up. Something was flying hard up your tailpipe, probably not friendly.
You hit the leather of the flight chair and gunned the throttle, wrestling the interdiction beam threatening to pull you out of supercruise. You were moving too slow, and the other ship had the headstart on you. Lights dimmed and smoke rose from your console as your FSD struggled to dump heat into the rest of the ship. You'd lost main power, battery backups kicked in to maintain air as you craned to see what had caught you.
You couldn't see the ship so much as see where it blotted out stars. A great dark silhouette threatening to crush you in its absence of form.
A great maw opened on the surface of the object, drawing nearer to you. Your docking computer flared to life and started calculating vectors, bringing you in to land even as you struggled to disengage it. The whole ship jolted as you touched down, almost throwing you from your seat.
You grabbed a pulse rifle and flipped your table, it wasn't much cover, but it'd have to do.
Splintering glass. You flew backwards in a rush of wind as the cockpit depressurised, the emergency helmet in your flight suit deploying around your head, just before something hit you, and you lost consciousness.
You awoke connected to monitors, a tube sticking down your throat. Two large reptilian... men? were talking. You assume they were talking, and assume they were men. They were heavily built, upright, bipedal, and wore long white gowns, the purplish light in the room casting them in faint lavender.
They looked at you. One clipped a smooth piece of metal to the side of its face
"Greetings, you have been captured" The alien's voice was strangely familiar.
It was the voice from the Galnet broadcasts
"Where am I? What have you done with my ship? You tried to pull the tube from your mouth, but your hands were restrained to the slab you were lay on.
"Your vessel has been disassembled for study. Your technology and biology has been categorised."
Your heart broke. That ship was your pride and joy, you knew every inch of it, and now it's gone. You slumped back, staring up at the ceiling as the newsreader voice continued.
"We have identified that your biology is acceptable to host our eggs. This is the reason you have been revived. Implantation has a greater success rate when the subject is not anaesthetised"
You jolted up. Eggs? The fuck?
The lizards approached you. You could see now their robes were open at the front revealing their bodies. They were each holding scissors.
They cut you out of your clothes. First opening the reinforced kevlar of your flight suit as though it was tissue paper, then snipping through your binder and boxers revealing your naked, hairy body.
One placed a metal disk on your midriff, where you felt it stick. They pressed a button on a control pad and electricity started pulsing through you. Your hair stood on end as your nipples hardened and your cunt moistened, your bulbous clit standing erect. The lizards looked at one another, and their hands fell upon you. Two fingers were shoved down your throat, making you gag as the other set to work on your pussy. Both ends of you were being worked, forced to produce fluids and lubricate you for what was to come. The throat slime rising in your mouth and the insistent fingertips on your slit. The one at your pussy grabbed your clit between two fingers and started jerking it, rubbing the hood over your tdick.
Your struggling against your bonds turned to writhing in pleasure, bucking your hips against the lizard's hand. Its fingers pushed inside you and started pumping, his other hand still jacking you off. You couldn't resist sucking on the fingers in your mouth as your orgasm washed over you, moaning around the hand in your mouth and squirting thin fluid from your cunt at the alien servicing you. The hands released you. You held your mouth open and presented your cunt to them, eager for more.
You could see cocks emerging from the slots on their crotches, dripping fluid and pulsing.
They fell upon you. In a flash your cunt was filled, your clit grinding against the rough scales on the lizard's belly. The other lizard followed suit, burying himself in your throat. His precum was sour and slimy, easily lubricating him as he pounded into your mouth and throat. The tube seemed to be to breathe through, otherwise you'd definitely pass out on the rod forcing its way down.
You could feel another orgasm pressing against you, making your cunt clench against the cock inside you as the lizard's thrusting rubbed your clit. The device on your belly pulsed harder and you heard both of the reptiles grunt in anticipation. They could clearly feel it too, fucking your holes even harder and filling you with that slimy pre. The pulses made you ache. You kept humping against the cock in your cunt, tongue sticking out to lick at the one in your throat even as it ravaged you. One of them grabbed your tits, rubbing your erect nipples and pushing you over the edge.
Your body twisted as you clenched and squirted all over the one in your pussy. Your eyes defocused and crossed. Both lizards hilted in you at once, the lewd sounds you kept making clearly pushing them over the edge.
The bases of their cocks expanded, locking them in. One pushed against the entrance of your womb, the other halfway down your throat. They started to throb and pulse, twitching as the lizards groaned. You felt thick cum flood you before solid objects started moving down them. One after another, eggs pushed into you, bulging your belly and pressing up against one another.
Your skin stretched until the metal device popped off you. The cloud of desire lifted from you and you tried to scream, wheezing down the tube leading into your airway until one of the aliens grabbed it and pressed it against your ass.
You almost orgasmed again when it started back up, each egg driving a wave of excitement and arousal through your body as they flowed into your womb and your stomach.
You were bulging and round when they pulled out, gravid and pregnant with dozens and dozens of eggs. The one at your pussy slapped your ass when he pulled out, the sudden shock sending another firecracker-orgasm through you, making you whimper and twitch, unable to move for the volume of eggs in you
The lizards left the room, and you felt numbness flow through you again, surrendering yourself to drugged sleep
You never did reach Beagle Point

This is also your win. You were one of thousands to call for #AXADivest and #BoycottAXA, ending your contract with the brand. You protested outside AXA offices and organized disruptive creative actions at every AXA shareholders’ meeting. You sent thousands of tweets, emails and letters to AXA CEOs, calling out AXA’s hypocrisy. As Israel’s live streamed genocide against 2.3 million Palestinians in Gaza continues, it is hard to celebrate anything other than an end to the genocide and the beginning of justice.

A Sick Day
It’s not a cold. It’s not. It’s just… allergies or something. Y/N definitely does not need to stay home. Bruce disagrees.
B (24) & Y/N (22)
A/N: recently got a puppy and he has taken all of my free time <3 Also, this fic is unedited and proud.
“Get your coats and turn on your radiators, Gotham. An ice front is coming in and it’s coming in hot. Or should I say cold? No, this isn’t the work of Mr.Freeze, he’s still in Arkham and we hope he stays there. This is the work of a winter storm. While the snow will be beautiful, it will also be dangerous.”
Y/N scoffed at her computer. The newscasters always made such a big deal about winter storms. Nothing can be worse than what they had to deal with when Mr.Freeze escaped a year ago. She was stuck in her apartment for three days with no groceries, splitting a box of stale Triscuits with Carrie three meals a day. If anything, cold weather is more an inconvenience than a danger. Plus, it’s been teetering on 45 degrees out the past week. How much colder would it get?
-
So… It got fucking cold.
Gotham had hit record-low temperatures. So low it hadn’t been a natural occurrence since the 60s. Lucky for Carrie, she had chemo this week and the hospital had gotten spooked by the recent weather reports so they asked her to stay overnight. While the hospital bill wouldn’t be nice, it’s way better than what Y/N is dealing with.
Her radiator is shitting out on her. The whole building's radiator system actually. Normally when the weather is this bad she would opt to work at home, like everyone else, except she can’t take the cold. Her body in particular can’t take the cold. It could be from the shitty surroundings in her apartment building or from sniffly Nathan who works in Wayne Enterprise’s marketing department, but she thinks she’s coming down with something. What’s worse is that the cold weather is making it worse.
Her whole chest felt like it was burning, which is a real contrast to how cold she was walking to work. She couldn’t get her car past the snow and she needs warmth and warmth is at Wayne Enterprises. So, she trudges into the empty building, up the elevator, and sits at her desk with a groan.
Breathing heavily, she shrugged her coat off her shoulders and pressed her freezing fingertips underneath her armpits. She looked at her reflection in her desktop monitor. Her cheeks were bright red and she had dark circles under her eyes. At least no one else was here to see her. No one else was here to see her…
Would it hurt to take a nap? No one would know. No one would see.
Y/N stood and stepped out into the hallway. Not. A. Single. Soul. Oh, she is so napping.
-
Bruce had chained up his tires this morning and headed to Wayne Enterprise. It was too bright for The Tumbler and he needed to gather a few equipment items from Lucious Fox’s bunker. It’s not like anyone was here anyway. There was not a single car in the garage, not even Y/N’s, which is really saying something.
He perused the bunker, grabbing a few small but powerful heaters, fleece-lined leather for his suit, and a couple of other items, stuffing them into his duffle bag. He was used to the cold, training in it, even living in it on one occasion, and the people of Gotham needed him so he’d be there.
Pulling the duffle bag over his shoulder with ease, he headed out of the bunker and towards the elevator. He left a particular file that wasn’t meant for Wayne Enterprise in his office, while no one was here, you can never be too careful. Except… There was someone here.
He could only assume the head poking out from her coat was Y/N and she was sleeping? In the office? Stepping closer to her, he noticed, even under all her layers, she was trembling. Pulling her coat collar from her face, he finally got a good look at her. She was flushed and had broken out into a sweat, even her ears were bright red. He held onto her shoulder and shook her lightly.
“Y/N,” Bruce spoke softly. She ground turning away from him. He slapped a hand to her forehead trying to gauge her temperature. She definitely had a fever, it couldn’t be lower than a 100. Slowly her eyes opened at the disruption, then became wide at who was standing over her.
“What are you doing here?”
“I’m not the one sleeping in the office.”
“Sorry,” she mumbled embarrassed, “I don’t know how that happened-”
“Y/N you’re burning up. What are you even doing here?”
“Why does someone come to work, Bruce?”
“You’re not working. You’re sleeping.”
“I had the intent to work-”
“Y/N.”
“I just felt like coming in,” she snapped. In truth, she was embarrassed. Here was her billionaire boss. If he didn’t feel like sleeping in his mansion, he could stay the night at his penthouse. She was sure he had other properties as well, meanwhile her radiator couldn’t even stay on when it gets chilly outside.
Bruce held her stare with a firm gaze and narrowed his eyes.
“You’re going home.” It wasn’t a question and he definitely didn’t ask as he lifted her under her armpits from the couch and stood her up on the floor. He took her coat roughly from the couch and threw it over her shoulders. Bruce turned to pack the rest of her things up. Y/N was so tired, but she was also so frustrated. She had just gotten here. It had taken her so long to walk here. “Let’s go. Where’d you park?”
She remained silent and looked away from him.
“Y/N. Where did you park?”
“I’m not going home. I just got here.”
“You’re sick you’re going home,” before she could speak he added, “and don’t say your car is in the garage because I know it’s not in there.”
“...I parked on the street.”
He tilted his head examining her, “No you didn’t. The snow us up to the stairs. Where’s your car?”
His question came out as more of a statement, demanding of an answer. She wouldn’t look at him and he grew both frustrated and disappointed. “For the love of god, please tell me you did not walk here.”
“My car couldn’t get past the snow!” she loudly admitted, “Is that what you wanted to hear-”
“Y/N. When your car can’t get past the snow, it means you stay home!”
He held his hand to his brow, trying to sooth the tension in his head. Throwing his duffle bag and her work bag easily over his shoulder, he didn’t give her much of a chance to say anything as he grabbed her by the hand to pull her toward the elevator. Even in his frustrated state, shaking his head and rolling his eyes, his grip on her was still gentle.
Stubborn as ever, she would let him pull her to the car. She would let him buckle her in. She would let him drive her to her broken, cold home, but she wouldn’t say a damn thing about the radiator. None. Of. His. Business.
[She’s even more stubborn when she’s sick.]
And she did just that. She let Bruce Wayne take her hand, blaming the warmth in her face on her high fever. She let him tug her to his expensive McLaren 650s Spider with a new shiny set of winter tires. She enjoyed seeing it too and part of her enjoyed annoying him. And she let him plop her into his expensive shiny car, buckle her in, and drive her home. What she didn’t expect was him wanting to walk her inside…
“I can get inside just fine, thank you.” Y/N attempted to push him back towards his car. Her hand held to his chest and pushed firmly. He didn’t even budge. Not even a sway.
“You’re not walking up three flights of stairs alone in your condition.”
“My condition?” she paused. “How do you know I live on the third floor?”
“You put your address on your resume,” he lied smoothly.
“I didn’t know you read my resume-”
“Stop stalling.”
She tried to keep him out, she really did, but he was so persistent. They made it to the front door, thank you Mr.Wayne I can take it from here. Nope, he needed to help her up the stairs, so they made it up the stairs. Thank you, Mr.Wayne I think I can make it inside by myself. Nope, he had already made it up the stairs; he might as well finish the journey. They made it to her front door. Thank you, Mr.Wayne you can go now. Nope, there’s no reason he can’t sit her things down for her.
In her heart, she knew there was no way he didn’t notice the cool, crisp air in the hallway. The way not a single apartment radiated heat and she knew he had to be suspicious. Her hand shook in shame as she unlocked her apartment and opened the door up, head down.
Letting himself in, she heard a deep sigh, radiating from his chest, “Y/N, you can’t stay here-”
“Stop-”
“It’s freezing in here-”
“You don’t think I know that?” Once again, he grabbed her hand pulling her into the hallway, shaking her head. He took the keys straight out of her hand, locking the apartment door. “What are you doing? We just got here?”
“You’re staying with me this weekend.”
“Are you insane?”
“I have a house with over fifteen bedrooms. I think you can find somewhere to sleep.”
“This is so unprofessional.”
“I don’t care.” With her apartment keys he walked back toward the stairs at an alarming pace. She had no choice but to follow.
“Bruce, I swear to God I am not staying at the manor.”

In recent years, commercial spyware has been deployed by more actors against a wider range of victims, but the prevailing narrative has still been that the malware is used in targeted attacks against an extremely small number of people. At the same time, though, it has been difficult to check devices for infection, leading individuals to navigate an ad hoc array of academic institutions and NGOs that have been on the front lines of developing forensic techniques to detect mobile spyware. On Tuesday, the mobile device security firm iVerify is publishing findings from a spyware detection feature it launched in May. Of 2,500 device scans that the company's customers elected to submit for inspection, seven revealed infections by the notorious NSO Group malware known as Pegasus.
The company’s Mobile Threat Hunting feature uses a combination of malware signature-based detection, heuristics, and machine learning to look for anomalies in iOS and Android device activity or telltale signs of spyware infection. For paying iVerify customers, the tool regularly checks devices for potential compromise. But the company also offers a free version of the feature for anyone who downloads the iVerify Basics app for $1. These users can walk through steps to generate and send a special diagnostic utility file to iVerify and receive analysis within hours. Free users can use the tool once a month. iVerify's infrastructure is built to be privacy-preserving, but to run the Mobile Threat Hunting feature, users must enter an email address so the company has a way to contact them if a scan turns up spyware—as it did in the seven recent Pegasus discoveries.
“The really fascinating thing is that the people who were targeted were not just journalists and activists, but business leaders, people running commercial enterprises, people in government positions,” says Rocky Cole, chief operating officer of iVerify and a former US National Security Agency analyst. “It looks a lot more like the targeting profile of your average piece of malware or your average APT group than it does the narrative that’s been out there that mercenary spyware is being abused to target activists. It is doing that, absolutely, but this cross section of society was surprising to find.”
Seven out of 2,500 scans may sound like a small group, especially in the somewhat self-selecting customer base of iVerify users, whether paying or free, who want to be monitoring their mobile device security at all, much less checking specifically for spyware. But the fact that the tool has already found a handful of infections at all speaks to how widely the use of spyware has proliferated around the world. Having an easy tool for diagnosing spyware compromises may well expand the picture of just how often such malware is being used.
“NSO Group sells its products exclusively to vetted US & Israel-allied intelligence and law enforcement agencies,” NSO Group spokesperson Gil Lainer told WIRED in a statement. "Our customers use these technologies daily.”
iVerify vice president of research Matthias Frielingsdorf will present the group's Pegasus findings at the Objective by the Sea security conference in Maui, Hawaii on Friday. He says that it took significant investment to develop the detection tool because mobile operating systems like Android, and particularly iOS, are more locked down than traditional desktop operating systems and don't allow monitoring software to have kernel access at the heart of the system. Cole says that the crucial insight was to use telemetry taken from as close to the kernel as possible to tune machine learning models for detection. Some spyware, like Pegasus, also has characteristic traits that make it easier to flag. In the seven detections, Mobile Threat Hunting caught Pegasus using diagnostic data, shutdown logs, and crash logs. But the challenge, Cole says, is in refining mobile monitoring tools to reduce false positives.
Developing the detection capability has already been invaluable, though. Cole says that it helped iVerify identify signs of compromise on the smartphone of Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, a lawyer and Sikh political activist who was the target of an alleged, foiled assassination attempt by an Indian government employee in New York City. The Mobile Threat Hunting feature also flagged suspected nation state activity on the mobile devices of two Harris-Walz campaign officials—a senior member of the campaign and an IT department member—during the presidential race.
“The age of assuming that iPhones and Android phones are safe out of the box is over,” Cole says. “The sorts of capabilities to know if your phone has spyware on it were not widespread. There were technical barriers and it was leaving a lot of people behind. Now you have the ability to know if your phone is infected with commercial spyware. And the rate is much higher than the prevailing narrative.”

How High-Quality Low-Voltage Switchgear Accessories Save You Money!
One of the main goals of industrial power systems is to cut costs without sacrificing performance.
Upgrading your low-voltage switchgear accessories is one frequently disregarded method to accomplish this.
Let’s discuss how purchasing high-quality switchgear accessories can extend the life of your electrical infrastructure, reduce operating costs, and boost system performance in this guide.
What Are Low-Voltage Switchgear Accessories?
Low-voltage switchgear accessories are parts that improve how well your electrical switchgear systems work, keep them safe, and make them reliable. These include:
- Circuit breakers
- Contactors
- Busbar systems
- Surge protection devices (SPDs)
- Control relays
- Communication and monitoring modules
They offer power distribution, fault protection, and real-time system monitoring and are therefore crucial in industrial automation and energy management.
1. Minimize Downtime and Improve Productivity
Cheap, low-quality parts are likely to break down, grinding work to a standstill. Every hour of unscheduled downtime at a plant equals lost work and income.
✅ Advantage:
The superior switchgear elements can withstand more load, function through more switch cycles, and withstand more demanding conditions. It guarantees power flows smoothly at all times and decreases the possibility of shutdowns.
2. Extend the Lifespan of Equipment
Switchgear accessories form the first line of defense for your equipment. Low-quality accessories will let surges or faults pass through and can destroy costly equipment like motors, drives, and PLCs.
✅ Advantage
Stable components such as motor protection relays and surge protection devices maintain voltage levels constant and prevent overloads, thus safeguarding equipment downstream of them.
3. Reduce Maintenance and Replacement Costs
Sustained maintenance, breakdown calls, and replacement components are costly over time. Cheap parts fail early, thereby adding to your maintenance load.
✅ Advantage:
Purchasing robust, low-maintenance accessories translates to fewer services and repairs, which results in overall savings.
4. Improve Energy Efficiency
Loss of power and energy inefficiency typically start with old or badly designed switchgear devices. Even small problems within a big system can lead to higher energy bills.
✅ Advantage:
Good-quality accessories provide the highest conductivity and proper switching, allowing for optimal voltage output maintenance and avoiding energy wastage.
5. Enhance Electrical Safety and Regulatory Compliance
Faulty accessories are a main cause of electrical fire and safety hazards. Substandard systems can also fail to meet industry standards.
✅ Advantage:
Good quality switchgear parts typically conform to IEC, UL, or other important standards for safe functioning and regulatory compliance.
Conclusion: Small Components, Big Savings
Cheap accessories can appear to be a good deal initially but can turn out to be costly over time. Employing quality low-voltage switchgear accessories guarantees that:
- Less system crashes
- Equipment lasts longer
- Reduced maintenance
- Reduced energy costs
- Safer operations

The Hearts of Gotham 1
Chapter 1 out of 7
Bruce makes the Justice League believe he has two hearts and is a manifestation of Gotham’s night to throw them off his secret identity, not trusting them. When the sound system breaks, he doesn’t come clean, but lies instead that he split into two to make Robin. From there it spirals as all the Robins make the lies grow and twist it in their own ways, until the truth comes out.
This fic is based on this post and inspired by Bouncing Baby Bat, or so the Justice League is led to believe... by EmpressGeek.

Chapter 1: How Bruce Made Himself out to Be a Cryptid
Let it be known that Bruce never intended for it to end up like this. Truly, had he known then how it would end, he might just have been honest with the Justice League when they formed, but instead paranoia had overtaken him and now it has spiraled into this.
Okay, let’s back up a little. It starts like this: Bruce doesn’t want to join the Justice League that these others are forming for bigger threats. In his mind, they are the possible bigger threat, seen in how effective they are against other big threats. The fact that they can’t see that makes him only more wary.
However, the others seem determined to see this done, so if Bruce wants to keep a close eye on them, it’s better to be involved. With his tech being used, he’ll know all the back doors. With him in the meetings, he’ll know the protocols will be good. With him in the training, he’ll be able to study their weaknesses and plan for contingencies.
So, he joins to soothe his own worries and doom scenarios. He joins so he can monitor them all and step in should it go awry.
But being able to observe them, means that in turn he’ll be observed too.
He is very careful about his identity thus far, because he knows what’s at stake. His own voice is that of Batman, so if he’s taken by surprise out in the field it won’t be different. He wears lifts in his Batman boots to make him taller, more intimidating, less human. He stays in the shadow, never lets anyone observe him better.
Because if he’s ever found out, a lot of things will come crumbling down. The police is only half convinced that there is an actual person under there and there is a big factor ready to arrest him, should they catch him. Though luckily also a faction moving to working together with him.
Should he be arrested, Alfred will likely go down as accomplice and spend his retirement in a prison with Wayne Enterprises falling into the hands of a semi-corrupt board that will weasel out the non-corrupt like he is trying to weasel out the corrupt now.
Hundreds of thousands will loose their jobs, programs that keep the less fortunate from going under will disappear, the public transport system will decay and the name his parents made for themselves will forever be tainted by him. And that’s not even mentioning the crime that will run rampant without Batman, all the people that could go through what he did.
No, he can’t be found out.
So, he has to be careful when working with this newly formed Justice League. Throw them off his scent so they’ll never connect the dots. But it has to be subtle, something he can keep up, something not everyone would note.
The person he’s most worried about getting on his trail is Clark Kent, or Superman, as he is known, an investigative journalist. The others are less like him or Clark, people who go out and look for things that irk their brains, but Clark has been assigned their leader. He’ll want to know and he’ll want to dig.
He is also a person who might be able to find Bruce. His secret identity is as solid as it can be, but he’s only human and there are cracks. As a reporter, Clark interacts with both Bruce and Batman and he has extra abilities to help him.
He must be stopped.
So, before his first meeting with the Justice League, Bruce sinks into a pit of what-ifs, until his paranoia forces him to action. And he sows a sound system into his suit, that plays an extra heartbeat, making it seem like there are two hearts beating in his chest.
Bruce’s logic is, that if the supers in the League would hear his two heartbeats as Batman, they would look for that if they wanted to find him and since he doesn’t have two heartbeats as Bruce, they never would unless he was being Batman, thus open to being found.
It’s a solid plan in his mind. The League consists of all sorts of people, both human and non-human, no one would ask too many invasive questions about his supposed biology. It’s perfect.
Thus, it comes to be that Batman enters the Justice League as a cryptid non-human entity. Not something he planned for exactly, but the Batman is already more than a man, said to be a demon or a vampire. It helps with intimidation and it helps with his cover. The others already think him to be more than human, why not play into it? It’s not like he trusts them. He’s here to monitor, not befriend.
It’s a solution that soothes his anxieties and enables him to actually work. It’s also easy and low profile, as well as something that can grow organically as the moment calls.
The first times it happens, is when they’re making a protocol about when it is alright to step in on another hero’s turf. Bruce is the one, who insisted on making protocols, wanting to have written guides he could force the others to follow, rules they are held accountable by.
“No metas in Gotham,” he first lays down the law for his own city. “We can make protocols for other cities to suit the heroes wishes and what is reasonable. But there will not be anyone but me in Gotham, I don’t care how severe you think it is. Unless you have an explicit invitation from me, you aren’t welcome.”
“What the hell, man!” Hal exclaims and others are also frowning.
Clark, as always, steps in to mediate: “Batman, we’re willing to follow your lead in your city and I agree that a heroes wishes should be considered, but there no reason not to be civil. You’re a meta, you know life can be hard enough as is.”
Bruce does feel a little guilty then, because despite his wariness, everyone here has been nothing but nice – overly nice in that peppy hero way, but still – and he doesn’t mean to be rude. He just knows that the type of crime fighting they do, doesn’t mesh with Gotham and he can’t have them ruin his city.
So, he crosses his arms and tries to project sternness instead of guilt as he says: “And I am stating my wishes clearly. No metas in Gotham is a neutral statement. You made it loaded.”
“You’re being hypocritical, Batman,” J’onn says not unkindly, probably picking up on some of the guilt, despite his mental barriers and misinterpreting.
“I am not, I am being clear,” Bruce says, as stubborn as ever, while mentally running through all the random knowledge he has acquired in the years of being Batman. Then he adds: “And I am being clear, because you coming will completely ruin the ecosystem.”
“Ruin the ecosystem?” Diana repeats, still learning the new lingo of the world of men.
“Yes,” Bruce says, glad that his acting classes under Alfred are paying off. “When I say that I am the night, I am very serious about that. I am Gotham’s night, come to life. The hearts of the city beat in me. My villains are created by what Gotham is as a city, they won’t respond well to you. You’re an invasive species. Who knows the kinds of irreparable damage you could cause?”
That sounds pretty logical to his own ears and he makes a mental note to get Poison Ivy some perks in Arkham when he gets back. He also makes a not to record what he said later, as to not contradict himself down the line.
“You’re literally the night?” Hal chuckles, a little disbelievingly.
“You’re a space cop,” Barry rightfully points out. “We work together with two aliens, a woman with wings and an Amazonian princess. Is a personification of the night really a stretch?”
“It just seems fantastical that’s all,” Hal shrugs, body language giving away that he feels a little bad about his outburst. But not bad enough to not defend it, because he adds: “Everyone else seems to have at least a bit of a basis in science.”
“Magic is quite real,” Diana says, stunning them all into silence for a second.
Clark clears his throat after a second, then says: “Thank you, we’ll keep that in mind for later meetings. So, uhm, no metas in Gotham,” he gets them on track. “Does that also apply for non-hero meddling? Like if someone has to be there due to secret identity obligations?”
Bruce knows why he’s asking. It might sound like a general question, but unlike the others, he actually knows who they are in their civilian lives. And he’s seen Superman out of uniform at his galas.
However, he doesn’t let it show. Having Clark hear only one heartbeat in his chest at the galas will only strengthen his secret identity. So, he curtly says: “If you don’t interfere with its business, Gotham will let you in.”
“Alright,” Clark says, looking a little disturbed. “I’ll note that down. No metas in Gotham. Now, what about anyone else’s city? Something else we should know about when not trespassing?”
The others gratefully take the reason to move on and Bruce has to hold in a snort, because it’s quite amusing to see these superpowered beings buy into his make belief. To have them be scared of him, who is just a man.
But it is also comforting, because if they are scared, they’ll listen. He needs them to listen to him, to value his opinion as one of their own, because maybe then he can ensure that they will become that line of good they have the potential to be, instead of the force of destruction they can also become. For that, he is glad.
Furthermore, he registers that his ruse is working in his favor. It gets him what he wants while minimizing conflict, thus it is good to maintain.
So, as they build the Justice League together – something that takes a lot more meetings and paper work than some of them were expecting, he observes – he maintains and builds his lie further. He establishes himself as the night of Gotham and expands on his backstory as he goes.
A little while later they’re in a meeting about their fighting abilities. They have already worked in the field together, but during the big emergency, but that doesn’t make for good observation circumstances. Therefore they have this meeting, so that all are on the same page about what they can do.
Bruce has contemplated making himself out to be scarier than he actually is. However, when it is his turn, he doesn’t invent invulnerabilities or abilities for himself, it can be detrimental in the field to have given others unrealistic expectations.
Thus, when it’s his turn to answer, he honestly says: “When it comes to any unnatural abilities, I function as a normal human would. Nothing more. Nothing less.”
“No way,” Barry says, leaning on his hand and observing Bruce closer. “No powers? None?”
“Yeah, I don’t buy it, Spooky. With all the vanishing you do,” Hal agrees.
“Then maybe we should have another stealth day,” Bruce says seriously, because what he does is not that difficult and can be taught. As heroes, they should have a certain amount of skills in every field, though maybe it’s good for them to not be fully competent. Makes it easier to take them out should the day come.
Hal quickly makes a zipping his mouth shut motion, before Bruce can continue on with his threat that he is still contemplating.
Before it can get out of hand, everyone gets distracted by Shiera asking: “Really? You want us to believe that the physical manifestation of Gotham’s night has no power?”
“Yes, that does seem quite miraculous,” Diana agrees open eyed and well intended.
“Yeah, you have no clue what sort of stories come out of there,” Barry adds. “Well, I’m kind of assuming you don’t, since I suppose you don’t leave your city often and maybe you don’t really read our news if you do. But like it’s crazy. There was a while where I wasn’t even sure you existed or if there truly was a vampire out there.”
As they all talk, Bruce is silent, quickly thinking. Is he going to have to lie? Make up some powers that are minor enough that they won’t accidentally risk his life when he doesn’t want it to be risked? No, Alfred will kill him.
Fuck, he never thought they wouldn’t believe him if he told them he operated with no powers. He should have planned for this. Stupid. Note to self: plan more contingencies.
In the end, something comes to him right before it becomes weird that he isn’t answering. So, he answers: “I am the manifestation of Gotham’s night. Gotham is wholly human and remains so, that which powers me is human.”
“Wouldn’t it be beneficial then to have more metas in Gotham? So that you can get powers?” Barry asks, the curiosity of the scientist shining through.
It’s a good question too, and Bruce quickly bullshits: “No, because my villains are created in reaction to me. If I am stronger, so will their challenge be and Gotham will face more destruction.”
“Would that mean your villains disappear when you do?” Hal asks.
“No,” Bruce says again, cursing himself for not planning better. “The city creates them, but not like it creates me. It’s the shadow that hangs over Gotham that brings out the worst in people. They are not like me. They are humans. But if my shadow grows bigger, so will that of the city.”
“Man, that’s confusing,” Hal complains and Bruce is glad his own twists threw them off.
He is even more glad when Clark steps in: “And it’s not our place to question Batman or poke holes. Let’s all be civil. Batman, I’ll note down no powers.”
“Thank you,” Bruce replies, because Alfred raised him better than to not thank someone.
And so he goes on establishing himself as Gotham’s night. He has a writing frenzy wherein he fleshes out his lie to the League as to never be caught unawares again like that, before carefully and calculatedly dropping things into conversation as time goes on.
“Batman, you’re seriously injured, I saw that bot hit your head! You really should let us take a look at that,” Clark says after one of their earlier battles.
“No, I need to go to Gotham, my city strengthens me,” he lies, as to slip out so that Alfred can take a look at it. Hopefully the man won’t scold him too bad for traveling via Zeta-Beam while having a concussion.
Or during a boring meeting, when he suddenly gets up. Diana asks: “Batman, what is wrong? I did not hear an emergency call.”
“Gotham needs me,” he lies again, deciding that he sits through enough boring meetings as Brucie not to want to do it as Batman too. At least, not right now. He has a case he’d rather be working on, more important too. “It calls to me.”
As he leaves, he hears Barry whisper to Hal: “That sounds useful, I always just cross my fingers that I’ll catch it when it happens.”
However, over time it peters out. He has let all the relevant pieces drop and he feels that it doesn’t fit to share more. They know what he wants them to know and no one has caught on to the fact that he even has a civilian identity – something he’s loathe to admit, he stole from Clark. So, he stops and settles in with what he has.
And time continues to pass like that. Bruce gets to know his fellow League members better, learns how they think and where their morals lie. He starts to respect them, then tentatively trust them.
Most of them reveal their identities – never pressuring Bruce, since they don’t think he has one, despite Clark revealing his own – and become friends rather than colleagues. Bruce even thinks of them as friends.
However, he doesn’t say a word to them, never feels the need to reveal himself. To them he is the night, like he is Brucie to the board, and that suits him just fine. He is their friend, but he never forgets the power they hold and he never forgets his own responsibility in monitoring them.
The Justice League is set up to counter threats and one of the threats is the Justice League itself. He has just positioned himself to counter that threat, should it ever come to pass. And being non-human is a part of that. It’s as simple as that.
Besides, he befriended all of them based on a lie. To reveal now how much he distrusted them, how much he kept from them and how much he lied can only end in disaster. They’ll hate him for lying and they’ll never trust him again. He can’t risk that.
So, when the sound system in his suit breaks without him noticing and Clark exclaims: “Batman, are you okay? I can only hear one of your hearts beating,” Batman doesn’t hesitate to commit further to his lie.
He has made many contingencies for it breaking while on missions or during a meeting, but with how careful he is with his equipment, it never occurred to him that he would show up for an average meeting without it working.
“It’s okay,” he says, trying to think as fast as he can about what will make sense as explanation.
“That sounds more like you are ill, my friend,” J’onn speaks up, picking up on the anxiety wave that had crashed through him.
“No, no, I am fine, I assure you,” Bruce insists, landing on a solution. “My second heart has formed enough and I have split into two. It needs time to reform, but then I will be fine.”
For a moment, it is silent.
Then the whole room explodes with noise as the others demand what the hell that means and who he has split up into and how that even happens. It’s not something Bruce planned to do, but he’s in too deep now. This was his last chance to come clean and turn back and he didn’t take it. This is going to be his life forever now.
Guess, Dick is getting his wish and meeting the Justice League, instead of being stashed as far away from them as possible to keep him safe. This can be an exercise in obfuscation and keeping cover, he thinks.
~~
A/N:
As of much with Bruce’s earlier Batman career, 90% of what he does is just straight up bullshit that he is pulling out of his ass lmao and I love that for him <3
Also, you can’t convince me that ‘Gotham needs me’ isn’t his excuse when he doesn’t want to be somewhere anymore.
(also I have finished this fic already and I can be manipulated into posting quicker if there is interest)

Seagull decided to get a little bit of payback for the recent kidnapping of one her siblings.
She managed to break into a safehouse witch she's known of for a while, and she remembered to keep the footage on a long loop to hide her entrance and make the tampering less obvious.
Once she was in she plugged herself into the wifi box there, and inserted half her consciousness into the network trying to steal as much vital information as possible.
The easiest files to find were the ones stored on the safe house's computers: the records from the security systems, the app that monitored the high-tech hydroponics system, a folder labeled "confidential" that just contained a bunch of downloaded a03 fics, and Excell sheets dealing with the business of that particular safe house.
These dealt with things regarding the schedules for planting, trimming, harvesting, and other tasks related to the plants, a detailed inventory of the safehouse's stock, shipments and deliveries (though codenames were used for all of the buyers and sellers), and a timetable that said Sage and Lily were currently clocked in at that location.
The most frequent search on the local browsers history was for a site called Bromidic Enterprises, which seemed to be a bland corporate website, though it was unclear what the business actually did.

Happy birthday, @talshiargirlfriend! I was going to answer your ask, but this came upon me instead. Enjoy! 💜
*********************************************************************
“Songbird!”
The cry came from Hoshi as she worked on the lock of the prison cell. Janelle turned from breaking a chair over the head of one of the abductors, looking over the crowd to find her friend.
“Yeah?”
“Get over here! I need you!”
“Coming!”
With a quick leap, Janelle was running along one of the metal tables in the corridor of what they considered a sort of prison; one where all the men of Enterprise had been trapped.
Around her, the women of the ship who’d beamed down to the planet were engaged in hand-to-hand combat with the alien captors, humanoid creatures who resembled nothing so much as ice-cream-coloured women with strange, pinwheeling eyes. They were all females, and it didn’t take much to deduce why they had stolen away the men of Enterprise, keeping them in relative comfort, albeit imprisoned. Even now Janelle could see the men lined up against the clear walls of their holding cells, unable to get out and to the assistance of their crew-mates, but cheering on the women.
Fortunately, a certain Vulcan first officer had not taken kindly to being separated from her bond-mate. She had led the assault by the remaining contingent of the security team, accompanied by the communications officer - herself no slouch in the combat stakes - and several engineering and medical staff. Lieutenant Anna Hess had been left behind to run the ship and monitor their biosigns. The team was now running through the compound, battling the abductors while searching for the transporters that had whisked the men away from their starship.
A purple Coracias suddenly popped up between the two tables, turning to point her weapon at Janelle; the engineer dropped to her knees and slid along the slippery surface, gripping both hands together to provide extra impetus for her elbow coming around in an arc and landing on the alien’s jaw with a satisfying crunch that dropped her lilac form like a stone.
Grabbing the weapon, Janelle hurtled around the last table and came to a halt beside Hoshi, who had moved away from the cell and was now pushing buttons on a pad near the main door, albeit not the one controlling the door.
“I’m here, what’s up?”
“I need you to be a songbird,” Hoshi said distractedly, eyes shifting between the screen and rapidly-cycling letters on a smaller screen to one side.
“I can do that.”
“Several notes at once. This system uses frequency and harmonics, and the UT or any other device we have isn’t capable of producing what we need without some adjustments.”
“Heads up!” came a cry from Esk, and Janelle turned and blasted a rapidly-approaching lemon-coloured Coracias trying to attack Hoshi. She decided to keep her back toward the wall and fend off any danger to the communications officer, using the weapon she’d grabbed - a sort of phase pistol - as a deterrent before reaching out to yank a longer pipe from a smallish mint-green Coracias to wield as a quarterstaff. She knocked said Coracias on its behind and then took the pipe to its jaw.
“Well done, crewman!” came from Lieutenant Reed, who was standing near the wall where Hoshi was busy, and looking frustrated at not being able to help her or his SIC. Not that Esk was letting anything stop them from laying the smackdown on the abductors.
Janelle sketched off a quick salute to the security officer and a grin at Rostov as he stood beside the smaller man, before turning back to Hoshi.
“Okay, well, I can harmonise for you, but I need to know what to sing.”
“The UT will translate the notes into music you can read.”
“Right. I’ll need a minute to get my head around it, especially if you say I have to maintain frequency and duration.”
“Better start warming your vocal cords then, the UT’s still working out the melody. But it’ll require polyphonic overtones.”
“Then get me those notes and keep these women off my back, I’ll probably only get one chance and I can’t screw it up.”
Hoshi put her forefingers into her mouth and let out a deafening whistle.
“Coming!” rang out from Esk Parker and Liz Cutler, and they converged on the two, weapons in hand and determination in their eyes, while T’Pol approached from the side, grabbing a large Coriacas as it attacked her, and hurling it across the heads of the battling women to crash into the far wall. The Vulcan had clearly decided to discard any pretence at diplomacy.
“I’ve got it figured out, Sub-Commander,” Hoshi told T’Pol. “But I’ll need Crewman Kelly to get it done.”
T’Pol nodded. “Very well, Ensign. Free our crew-mates so we can all return to the ship. We will not leave a single person behind.”
“On it,” Hoshi said, grabbing Janelle and pulling her to one side.
The engineer was already humming in lower tones, prepping her voice so she didn’t end up screeching. The UT beeped and Hoshi handed it to Janelle, who looked over the notes, nodding and humming to herself.
“You wouldn’t happen to have any water or liquid, would you?”
“Not on me, no. Is your throat dry?”
“Not enough to make a difference; it’s just always easier to start when properly hydrated. But I’ll make it work.”
“Okay. You’ll need to sing into the wall panel here, as clearly as possible.”
“The noise from the fighting might make that difficult, but let’s try.”
Hoshi turned her back to the wall, as Janelle had done before, and took the phase pistol from her friend.
“Go.”
Janelle took a breath, fixed her eyes to the notes in front of her, opened her mouth, and sang. There were no words, and no specific structure for the untrained ear to understand. Instead, it sounded as though she was humming in a low register while whistling birdsong at the same time.
As she became used to the notes and her voice strengthened, she increased the volume unconsciously, unheeding of the sounds behind her slowly petering out. She closed her eyes and concentrated on the melody and the resonance, making the notes as clear as she could, until finally an unlocking sound echoed throughout the space.
“I think that did it!” she cried, turning to Hoshi, only to notice that everyone in the hall had stopped and turned toward her corner - most notably, the Coracias women. “What’s going on?”
Hoshi reached for the UT. “I think you surprised them by singing their own language,” she said, her eyes still on the abductors. “Everyone just … move slowly, lower your weapons.” She typed in a few things on the UT, and handed it to Janelle. “Can you sing this?”
Janelle scanned the notes, opened her mouth, and sang. A deep pink Coracias woman glided up to the two; Esk and Liz moved to intercept, but Hoshi stopped them with a word. They allowed the woman to pass, keeping a wary eye on her and those surrounding them.
The Coracias sang at Janelle. Hoshi took the UT and programmed a few words, handing it to Janelle once more. The Songbird repeated the notes on the screen, and the Coriacas’ eyes widened as she looked at the women before her and the men still behind the prison walls. She fluted in what sounded like a panicked state, and Hoshi translated.
“She says they did not realise these were our … our mates. That they seemed very much like the … I think this sound means ‘clones’ … like the clones they received from traders several generations back. I don’t think they understand gender or procreation as such, or at least, not in the way we do.”
“Instruct them to release our crew-mates, Ensign. Whether or not they understand does not give them the right to simply take sentient beings without asking.” T’Pol looked as annoyed as it was possible for a Vulcan to be. Hoshi nodded, and programmed notes for Janelle to sing.
The Coracias flushed a deep crimson and waved a hand at the wall panel and then at the cells, fluting more notes at Hoshi.
“She says Janelle has already unlocked the cells, and as the men move forward, the walls will disappear. They will take us to the transporters immediately and return us to our ship,” the communications officer translated.
T’Pol nodded, her expression still and blank, though those who knew her well after the past almost five years would have picked up the tension in her stance and in the tightening of her eyes.
“Tell them we would have been happy to open formal communications with them if they had only bothered to ask. Abducting anyone, clone or not, without explanation is unlikely to help foster cordial relations,” the Vulcan noted, no inflection in her voice. Still, her hand twitched momentarily as the men began streaming out and the chief engineer approached the small group, his eyes on his bond-mate.
“Charming as the hospitality here has been, can we go home now?” he asked in an aggrieved tone.
“Agreed,” said the captain, walking up to them. “Diplomatic relations are one thing, but I’m not exactly happy to be having them as a prisoner without hope of being understood.”
Janelle sang at the group once more, and the Coracias leader flushed again, then gestured for them to follow. Rostov fell into step beside Janelle, bumping his shoulder gently into hers. She looked up at him and grinned.
“Nice singing,” he praised. “I never knew human throats could make such sounds.”
“You’d be surprised what the human throat can do with enough training and practise, Mike,” Janelle elbowed him lightly. “I’m glad you’re out, though. Engineering’s been too quiet without half the team there.”
“Good thing we have a songbird on board,” interjected Hoshi, winking at a relieved-looking Lieutenant Reed as the security officer joined her. “Now let’s get our guys home and we can figure out diplomatic relations from there.”
