More acting stuff on exactly HOW American Gods shafted Orlando Jones (and a lot of their minority actors)

I don't know how many of my followers are like... still following me, or if they're just waiting on me to start on a new hyperfixation or update my works, but regarding current events in the fantasy/writing world, the allegations against Neil Gaiman are rocking a lot of people at the moment. Honestly, I'm only SOMEWHAT less upset about it.

You know why? Because I've distanced myself from Gaiman's works/fandoms after hearing how the production team of American Gods treated Orlando Jones, and by extension, a HUGE chunk of the minority cast.

So it is fairly well-known by now that Orlando Jones started writing parts of the American Gods scripts. The scripts he was rewriting? His character Anansi's scenes, and basically all of the minority actors' scripts.

Given the response to his work (being widely acclaimed), I have no idea if most people realize that an actor taking on SOMEONE ELSE'S WRITING is actually a very bad sign in a production. Yes, even if they're credited like Orlando was, and yes, even if the results are fantastic like Orlando's writing was.

His response to being fired really hurt my heart because he mentioned somewhere that 1) he did not want to end up writing for the show and be responsible for so much, but 2) he kept doing it because the fans (especially the Black community) loved his work.

There are two implications with "an actor taking on writing," that make a nice little "shit is happening behind the scenes" sandwich:

-The actor is taking on an extra job, because

-The writers can't do their jobs.

In one of my Discord groups, I stayed up too late and made half a ramble about why actors doubling up on writing is a bad sign, especially when a non-white actor is rewriting something conceived by white folks.

Now I'm a hopeful theater actor instead of a TV actor, so there's definitely some details I'm missing, but the basics of "what does an actor DO besides memorize the script?" should be a good briefer.

sooo this is the mondayverse hungary oscarwin sequel and as such it is kiiinda sad yes! it’s from lando pov and let me tell you it felt WEIRD to write mondayverse from his pov at first but it was the perfect opportunity to do what people have been asking for a while, which is to dig into lando’s insecurities and hidden depths that we only ever really see through oscar’s eyes (who is, bless him, not always very good at reading emotions) in monday.

the lorde lyric in her version of Girl, so confusing hit me on first listen (one of those ‘oof ow i feel seen’ lyrics) and i knew i’d have to use it as a fic title at some point, and given my tradition of using charli lyrics for mondayverse it just fit!

i need to do some work on the tone of it overall because i don’t want it to be too sad but i’m deep in my feels about lando recently and this fic is basically me wanting to give him a hug and like. tell him to go back to therapy lmao. but it’s still gonna have a happy ending and they’re still in love dw! and it’s also a nice opportunity to dig a bit into how they both care very much about racing and winning, but how that looks completely different for both of them.

“Hmm,” Oscar says again, sounding even more sceptical this time. “Not especially, no.”

He really does look pretty happy as he drags his iPad out of his backpack, too, propping his feet up on the chair next to him and using the bag as a backrest. He chats idly with Kim as he scrolls, putting his earbuds in and settling back. Lando can’t see what’s on the screen but from his glassy, absorbed expression, it’s one of the miserable crime series he loves so much, where people stand around in muddy fields having very serious conversations for hours on end and then find bits of chopped-up women down drains. Bleak. 

Lando pulls out his phone, stretching out on his side across his own row of seats and propping his head on the padded front of his bag. He intends to catch up on the Discord, waste a few dead hours catching up on whatever bollocks they’ve all been playing without him this week. 

His thumb hovers over the little purple logo. He glances up, at Oscar opposite him, absorbed in his show. Taps the logo for Instagram instead. 

The socmed team has already been hard at work, photos of them both on the podium with relentlessly positive captions, edits of Oscar holding up a triumphant finger. 

Lando bites down on his bottom lip and holds it between his teeth, just hard enough to hurt, as he clicks into the comments on each one and scrolls.

Firstly, you have good taste my friend this man deserves to be topped and tortured.

So let's go through some basic background headcanons first, shall we.

Sova's parents either died when he was too young to properly remember them or when he was around 5-7, leaving him to be raised by his babushka

If his parents died later, I like the idea of Sova's mum having been either a soldier or an athlete (archery/shooting ofc) and being the one who got Sova his first bow / taught him how to shoot which is one of the reasons why he continued to practice and ultimately became a sniper since it makes him feel connected to his mother

His childhood is rather uneventful, maybe they're tight on money / struggling at times since they're living off what babushka can earn on the side and whatever pension they're receiving thanks to his parents so he learns at an early age how to forage/hunt to make ends meet

Joins the military as early as they allow because he figures this way he can get a stable income and support his babka at home as well, plus he'd be following in his mom's footsteps

He excels in the military, quickly being recognised for his exceptional aim and ends up in some kind of special forces where he gets to hone his skills further until he's established a reputation for himself

I like to think that it's during this time when he first meets Brimstone, maybe a joined OP with US special forces and they become fast friends, sprinkle a little mentorship in there, possibly Brim saving Sova's life disregarding his own safety

Which is why later when Brimstone is given the first order to form a special team, Sova is one of the first people he recruits and, of course, Sova instantly agrees

His feeling like he owes Brimstone only adds to his habit of overworking himself for the Val protocol because he will NOT disappoint Brim

He's a good little soldier, you tell him to jump he asks how high

Oh god I have so many headcanons for my sweet son, I could go on forever BUT you didn't ask for a novel so here's just a few random ones

Due to his military background he's one of the best hand-to-hand combatants in the protocol and takes over training the other, less experienced agents

He definitely has a soft spot for the younger agents, especially Gekko, Neon, KJ etc.

He pushes himself extra hard, insisting on running more simulations / practicing more than the others because he has to keep up with his Radiant/genius/augmented squad mates and preserve the only edge he has in this fight

Maybe he doesn't always wear his cybernetic eye because it sometimes overloads his brain/overstimulates him

NOW before I ramble on forever... you asked me about Chamber/Sova and let me tell you YES. Yes Good. I absolutely love Somber ♥ ( I wrote a little Somber OS at some point and I have at least five wips for them if only the writer's block didn't beat my ass all the time)

Not only do I personally think Chamber is hot and I want to see him play my babygirl like a fiddle but there's like so much potential. Because Chamber's easy, flirty nature is so different from Sova's, especially if you headcanon Sova as not having a whole lot of experience in the romantic/sexual department, which, chef's kiss tbh.

Plus, Chamber's more... grey-ish morality, his 'am I really on your team or are you just part of my plan' attitude, clashes so nicely with Sova who clearly follows a very rigid moral code.

I really love the idea of Chamber having a fun time getting under Sova's skin and the poor owl not having a single clue how to deal with it???

Don't get me started on Chamber using his indefinite resources to spoil Sova and Sova being so uncomfortable with all the fancy gifts...

Also guns. Let's talk about guns. Because I see Chamber's Tour de Force and I can't help but think 'what if he allows Sova to use it, or they get into a situation where Sova is forced to use it to protect them'?? How exactly do Chamber's powers work? Does he FEEL it when someone else touches his guns???? Is it an erogenous zone

I mean Chamber clearly respects Sova's skills (how could you not) and I just see him as the kind of man who sees something/someone he wants and then stops at nothing until it's HIS. Featuring Sova who is both confused by the blatant flirting and totally NOT down to indulge Chamber.

You can also go with the trope of Chamber being purely interested in getting Sova into bed playboy style while Sova is the 'i don't do one night stands if i date someone it's bc i'm serious aboutt hem' kinda guy. Chamber who is used to getting what he wants is both frustrated and determined to win him over to the point where he doesn't even realise he's developing actual feelings until it's too late~~ whoops~ (damn i wanna write that lowkey)

I'm thinking about leaving Earth flight to go to another flight for more fleshed out and easier to understand dom events... I love Earth's dom team, and I've had fun in their discord server! and the events I HAVE participated in were okay! I just don't think I like the "we're actually ALWAYS pushing. ALWAYS on that grind" vibe there. The hustle mindset has always freaked me out. And I also feel like the server isn't very... Lurker safe? I miss out on dom stuff because I have the server set to pings only expecting to be pinged for important dom announcements, but they don't even ping in the news channel and I miss a lot of stuff :(

And maybe that's making me miss out on actually fleshed out dom events? But I feel like the ones I don't miss aren't that fun :( And they're also not very intuitive for new dom players either, I'm still a little bit lost on how a lot of things work, like the scav hunts and the squads, and it doesn't quite feel like there's an environment where I feel comfortable asking for help since everyone just feels so.... Intense. Since you‘ve been into the fandom space due to hxh and jjk…

Which is very valid btw, sometimes it’s takes a while to jump into a community, especially since fandoms are such a mixed bag.

…Have you made some friends/mutuals that you never expected to be friends/mutuals with?

When I joined the HxH fandom was quite insular. There were some very visible big name fans who just engaged with one another. And when you look at fic recs here for HxH you still get the echos of that. You will see certain names repeated over and over again. Actually having someone rec my fics recently made me cry because if my friend Subdee wasn't on a given day on tumblr often when I posted my writing here no one would even leave like on it. I had mutuals literally scroll past my writing and reblog from me fics or ao3 links authored by the popular HxH and not even leave a courtesy like on my fic that was posted around the same time as the reblog.

And this was the situation several years after I joined. For a long time I felt I won't make any friends in the fandom. I actually made my first friends in the fandom when I participated in 2018 HxH big bang. After that event I befriended some people, and I even became acquaintances with some of the popular HxH blogs, even mutuals with some. So yeah, all the friends I made in the fandom were unexpected.

And honestly the HxH fandom here on tumblr is really cool and that's mostly thanks to @shalnarkonice who's the true hero of the fandom. Shal runs the hxhbbs, reverse bb, several other events and a thriving discord server, we made a zine together as in I pitched the idea to Shal and she just fucking put a team together. I had never expected that I would do a huge year long project with Shal. But generally Shal probably brings at least half the fans here together, facilitates so many friendships. HxH fandom really lucked out that it has Shal.

In the JJK fandom on the other hand I hadn't expected to make any friends because the JJK fandom is a fucking dumpster fire, generally, and here in particular, though from what I've heart twitter is worse. Compared to HxH which is a fandom in hibernation, JJK is alive and vibrant. But unlike the HxH fandom, it's full of people who hate read the manga, people who are in the fandom to shit on it, to post their bad faith takes. Or people who just want to write that they don't understand what's going on, lol. Or sometimes just write takes to prove that they really didn't pay attention to anything in the manga. Or just post thirst, and like.. I like some thirst, like this nice dessert to the fandom experience. In JJK it's the main course and it's just too much for me. And there is some art, but mostly of characters I care little about. And it's completely disorganised, there is not Shal who gives the fandom structure so that you can engage with others at this low emotional stakes level by just doing stuff next to each other in an event and get closer if you notice that you vibe together.

No, you have to do direct engagement and that's scary. But I found amazing people in it too. There's cursedvibes and his meta is so good, actually he's my subdee in the JJK fandom. They are both meta royalty plus they are just super neat to talk to in private about anything and everything. I also befriended the wonderful yuujispinkhair, and this is very much wow.

HI omg <3 first of all thank you for being my first ask on this blog i'm very happy to receive one!! i realised i don't even have my name on here help. my name is simone!! i'm from the netherlands, i'm turning 24 in a month, and i'm in the final year of my master's degree in science communication. with the basics out of the way let's talk about the important stuff :) i got into hockey through some friends very recently, somewhere end of last year. before hockey my main special interest was formula 1, but the sport changed quite a lot in the past few years and it got a bit boring and annoying in my humble opinion. so i don't watch a lot of f1 anymore.

anyway my friends are mostly devils fans but i vibed more with the canucks, so i'm a quinn hughes fan first and foremost. other canucks guys i love are jt, big z, garly, demmer, and boesy. jack and luke kinda come with quinn as a packaged deal and there's some random guys from other teams that i like. obviously that includes our boy matt, but also nemo, natemac, the tkachuk brothers, kopitar... i could go on. i'm actively trying to get to know the sabres guys because i'm seeing njd v sabres in prague this year!! i mostly just love psychoanalysing players and coming up with fic ideas that i never actually end up writing.

apart from that i love aviation! i haven't been as into it as usual now that all of my brain power is being used up by hockey but i love planes. i know a bit about avionics but since i never apply any knowledge on it in my daily life it never manages to really stick. i enjoy reading about it though! i also enjoy spotting, especially since schiphol has some nice dedicated spotting areas. my proudest spot is a 1/10 emirates a380 journey to the future livery, but i always enjoy spotting even if it's just to see twenty klm b737's :)

Introducing UNTITLED FISHING GAME!

A 2D fishing action-rpg about life after environmental destruction. Play as a fisherman turned monster hunter, fighting to survive and thrive in the era following the fall of man.

This is our newest project, and we’re very excited about it. Its currently in early alpha, and we’re running semi-regular online playtests on it over in our OFFICIAL DISCORD! (come hang out with us!)

As usual, we’re a queer team making queer games- and this time our project features a gay trans man main character.

At the point of writing, we’re aiming to finish a vertical slice and gauging publisher/funding interest. We’d like to publish this within the next year, but as of yet no definite release date has been planned. We maintain regular development updates on our Twitter, but because of recent events we’re looking for other platforms to get in touch with our audience.

This is definitely the project of ours that’s been getting the most attention media-wise... which brings us to my next point:

Norwegian state broadcast NRK reached out to us following an office visit from the minister of culture, expressing an interest in our point of view as queer developers making a queer game. This was originally supposed to just be an online article, but quickly turned into us also appearing on TV!

We have an office now!

We finally got around to joining Hamar Game Collective, a collection of Hamar, Norway-based game development companies in a shared office space! Here we’re surrounded by a star-studded cast of experienced industry folks with multiple titles under their belt. So far the experience has been lovely- and a bit intimidating!

We planned to set up office here as early as 2017, but various sticks were put in our wheels every time. Now they’re out, and we’re hopefully here to stay. The free access to meeting rooms, coffee, various showcasing opportunities and whiteboards have been especially nice. (I like drawing on the walls, it makes me feel like a caveman.)

After being rejected for funding multiple years in a row, we eventually ended up in a bit of a situation where we found ourselves extremely discouraged and weary. It ended up being a matter of necessity to switch project, to get some fresh air under our wings and keep the team alive. So far its worked very well, and it was probably the best decision we could have made, given our situation.

Liquid State will remain dormant for a bit, i’m afraid- which saddens us, as we know a lot of you were very much looking forward to this game. Rest assured, we see you- and we’re still making plans for this game! In fact, we frequently talk about it, and we’d love to come back to it at some point!

That’s about it from us for now! There’s of course more that’s happened between everything else, but this was just a post to quickly sum stuff up for the crowd that’s just around for Tumblr. I ended up liveblogging my entire rewatch of TBB S1 on Discord and the result was somewhat extensive, so I figured: why not stick it on my tumblr as well? Not because I expect anyone to read it, but because I’m very excited that having a week entirely to myself (I got covid for Christmas) resulted in me actually having the brainpower to form coherent thoughts about what I was watching. So here we go:

Ep 1) This is my favourite episode. I love the opening setting with the snowy wilderness, especially as so much of the series takes place in more urban settings or indoors. Having seen the entire season, I also really like how the conflict between Hunter and Crosshair is established here already.

– Tech has so many great lines in the first half of this episode. He clearly has strong opinions and feelings about everything that's going on. I really like the way he's written.

– The mess hall scene still cracks me up. Poor Echo and Crosshair. 🤣

– The combat simulation is also so much fun. Like [friend] said, it's great to see all of them working as a team. I especially like the way Tech and Wrecker work together here, and how Tech translates the hand signals to Wrecker into a reference that he can understand ("what we did on Felucia").

– "Every choice you've made since Kaller has been wrong." I would love to know exactly what's going on in Crosshair's mind. Is he dealing with any dissonance at all, or is this the only truth he knows?

– I'm still disappointed and confused by Echo's lack of robo legs in the prison scene, but that's the only negative I find worth mentioning.

– The soundtrack from just after the prison break and until they run into Crosshair is very minimalist and cool.

Ep 2) Omega finding dirt amazing is still so heart-warming and heart-breaking and hilarious all at the same time.

– This episode has some nice Echo moments. I like his expression when Tech points out that they've become deserters and how strongly he reacts when Cut mentions Rex.

– "Clones wanted names instead of numbers, but now people are signing up to be given numbers." This is definitely the line I remember the most clearly from this episode. It says so much about where the Empire is heading, but it also hits extra hard because Echo is most certainly thinking of one very specific clone when he says that first part. 😭

– Echo and Tech is another duo I really like seeing work together! Something that stood out to me this time around is how naturally Tech covers Echo while Echo is working, even though Tech is usually profiled as someone who would typically be on the other side of that arrangement.

Ep 3) In which Echo and Tech continue to be a moderately successful team with limited interpersonal patience and trust. 😂

– I'd forgotten how Hunter, Tech, and Echo just keep shrugging at each other when Omega wants to go with Hunter to track down the dragon. They were raised as soldiers, so of course it's hard for them to think of a reason not to let her do the same things that they do.

– This episode is better than I remembered! I originally got a bit stuck on the 'Omega saves the day' plotline, but there's a lot more going more going on here.

– Crosshair's Kallus moment is so sad. 😭

– Wrecker is so sweet in this episode. 🥺 I like that being a good caretaker doesn't come naturally to him just because he has more emotional awareness, but that we get to see him put conscious effort into it.

Something I've thought about repeatedly during this rewatch so far is how deeply I disagree with the notion that Tech is a stereotype. He's usually less emotionally expressive than the others, but he clearly has strong feelings about Order 66 and the Empire. He frequently talks over people's heads, but he's also able to facilitate communication between his team members ("what we did on Felucia"). He's the brains of the group, but he dual wields 17's like an ARC and has never been shown as anything less than proficient in combat. He's a little awkward with Omega, but is clearly shown looking out for her.

Ep 4) In which Tech has to remind his team that they live in a capitalist society.

– Echo and Omega inspecting the clone trooper doll always kills me. 😭

– Hunter selling Echo is still way funnier than it should be. "Fine, but not at that price. I'm worth more than 2000." 🤣

– "You got me for a bargain." 🤣 🤣🤣

– It makes me weirdly happy to see Echo command his little squad of droid mechanics. He's taking control over a situation that must have been very uncomfortable for him. 🥺

– (What I really want to know is why Echo had a droid costume in the first place. There has got to be a story there.)

Ep 5) In which Tech gets to berate Echo for leaving out information (about not having met Cid).

– "Or he was arrested for violating countless health code regulations." 🤣

– I love Echo's little smirk when he's stopping Omega from touching things.

– ... and how Wrecker holds out his hand for Omega to high five when Cid says that she's the brains.

– Returning to the opening of the episode, I like that we see the boys taking steps to ensure Omega's safety. They're learning from their mistakes!

– I know that the conversation about slavery seems like a missed opportunity to address the Republic's ownership of the clones, but I feel like Omega holding the clone trooper doll still kind of addresses it in a very subtle way. The clones clearly don't think of themselves as slaves, so it's not something they can talk about, but an observant viewer might notice the clone as an object in Omega's hands and put two and two together. Unless it's a coincidence and I'm giving the producers way too much credit, but I'd really like to think it was intentional. 😶

– Wrecker references a previous mission to communicate with the others - check!

– After mainly getting bonked in the head in the previous ep, it's nice to see Wrecker save the day.

Ep 6) In which absolutely no one thinks it's a bad idea to let Omega shoot space arrows towards the door opening where anyone can enter at any moment. 🤣

– Echo is so sweet with Omega even though he has no idea how to train a child that isn't a clone cadet.

– Ah, yes, it's time for "is there an echo in here"! It's so silly and easily one of my favourite moments in the show.

– I like Trace and Rafa, and I think they have a fun dynamic with the BB. I wouldn't mind seeing them again in S2.

– Hunter is pretty cool in this episode.

– Actually, they all look cooler (and weirder 💕) when juxtaposed with some normal people. I love it when a show makes me shift to an outsider POV for a moment and lets me have a fresh look at the protagonists. (The upcoming Ryloth plotline would be the main example of this.)

Ep 7)

– Rex is so good with Omega. 🥺

– There's a very satisfying hissing sound when Echo's helmet fits itself around his cybernetics.

– The Fives mention! I so hope that Echo and Rex will have another little chat about Fives in S2.

– The sound effects and music when Wrecker's chip kicks in are so good. Again, the soundtrack turns minimalist and industrial when the BB is in danger from one of their own. The result is super cool and I appreciate being able to enjoy the scene without having to lower the volume.

– As much as I think Wrecker gets hit too hard with the comic relief tropes (though it's perfectly understandable given that it's a family show), it probably serves to make him even more terrifying in these scenes. That, and the fact that the camera spends so much time at Omega's eye level.

– Ugh, this is such a good episode. Such an emotional rollercoaster.

Ep 8) In which Echo takes a very sexy shot.

– Can anyone else make sense of the scene where they're heading back into the Venator and Echo looks like he's reaching out for Omega, but Wrecker notices and slaps him? It's so weird to me. 😂

– Poor Echo really wanted to go with Rex. 😔

– I like the scene with Tech and Omega, and I think a lot of other autistic people would agree that "What was the war like?" is a rather hopeless question to answer. 😅

– I think this episode shows that Tech's optimism, rather than overconfidence, is one of his main weaknesses.

– "I've never been inside an ion engine before" / "It'd be weirder if you had" 🤣

– The old Venator was such a cool choice of location. I love the visuals of the engine.

– The scene with Cad Bane and Hunter is pretty good and I like the soundtrack, but I do feel that it fits poorly in the episode, especially in the middle of all that Crosshair whump (which is glorious), though I suppose Hunter getting injured at the same time as Crosshair makes for a good way to continue to connect them in the narrative. Then comes the FPS view, which makes me claustrophobic and nauseated, so I'm probably biased against it, but I don't think it fits either. Opening the next episode with it might have worked a lot better! I do think it's fun that the producers dared to experiment with style and genre, and I certainly don't hate the result, but I wish it would have been put together more smoothly (though it's very possible that this would have required additional minutes that the budget didn't allow for).

– Echo sniffing the Mantell Mix is still so funny.

– I don't think I'm supposed to find the AT-TE's cute, but they look like big, friendly animals.

– "I never much cared for that vase" 😂

– Wrecker has some really nice badass moments in this episode.

Ep 11) It's Ryloth time! I watched TBB before Rebels, so it's really fun to watch this again now that I know who everyone is and where they end up.

– I don't imagine Crosshair ever got to voice his opinions like he does on Ryloth when he was still a member of the GAR. Crosshair has so many reasons to stay loyal to the Empire, which is something I really like about the show.

– And here we go! The outsider perspective on the protagonists. The Marauder landing and the BB disembarking still gives me goosebumps. I'm such a dork. 😅

– Omega's and Hera's friendship is so adorable. I don't know much about children, but I feel like their scenes together are really well written.

– Ahh, the staring contest between Crosshair and Howzer. It's the kind of scene that feels like it exists to inspire fanfiction. 😂

– I like Howzer just fine, but I have the weirdest case of jealousy when it comes to his imitation of Fives. I just don't like it when people act as if he's more amazing than Fives, because he isn't. He isn't. 😡 (🤣)

– Hera flying the shuttle is so funny, both the general chaos and Tech's reactions. "Yes, your dangerous and uncontrolled maneuvering is as confusing to them as it is to us." 🤣

– Also, I've been wanting to mention this for just about every episode, but I love how good of a pilot Tech is.

– I love that the Weequay and the Ithorian apparently just follow Cid wherever she goes. I have no idea what their relationship with Cid is, but the three of them are clearly some sort of package deal.

– Echo's "the what?" when Cid mentions the hive is so funny.

– When Hunter keeps shielding Omega from the Pykes and the Pyke says they're going to keep her as a hostage and all the boys draw their blasters. 🥺😭

Ep 14) I'm having too much fun. Just one more episode.

– Omega watching Hunter twirl his knife and trying it with her hyperspanner is the cutest thing EVER.

– The face Echo makes at Hunter when they're debating whether to help Gregor is amazing. Like the angriest puppy dog eyes. I'd love to think that he picked it up from Omega, who clearly has great success when using it on Hunter.

– "You did that on Skako Minor when you rescued me" still makes me emotional. 🥺

– "That's Captain Traitor" is still so funny.

– I really enjoy Tech's piloting in this episode, and the way he takes over from Omega is so sweet.

– Seeing Hunter all alone in the forest, ordering the others to leave him behind, still hurts.

Ep 15) In which Crosshair steals the entire show.

– Echo is so sweet when he kneels down to check on Omega. 🥺

– The scenes with Hunter and Crosshair are so intense. "We didn't have a choice." / "And I did?" 😭

– Tech's "How could I possibly know that?" is so funny, and the way Wrecker just assumes that Tech knows everything is so sweet.

– I've been trying to figure out what the chain of command looks like when Hunter is gone, but I still haven't reached a conclusion. I would assume that Tech is in command, but he and Echo seem like they share the job?

– "You weren't loyal to me. [insert full speech here]" 😭 I just love Crosshair's entire thing in the training room. Just everything he says and does. The sequence where Tech sees the reflection in the knife is also amazing.

– I've said this before, but I'll say it again: Crosshair is right about Omega. If the point is to protect her from danger, then Hunter is doing it wrong. (And Crosshair knows this first hand. On Bracca, when he still had his chip, he ordered his troopers to aim for Omega. That wouldn't have happened if Hunter hadn't brought her there in the first place.)

– Ah yes, the poor clone who has to report on the destruction of Kamino.

– Ah yes, let's almost drown Crosshair. His life is the worst. And the way he rips his arm away from Omega the second he's free. 😭

– ... only to slide on his back across the floor and look super pathetic at Hunter's feet. Oh how the stickly have fallen. 😔

– The dialogue in the underwater tunnel is one of the best in all of SW imo. It just makes me really happy that these characters are allowed to be complicated and have complicated relationships with each other. And what Tech says to Crosshair is something a lot of people in this fandom need to get tattooed on the inside of their eyelids. You can understand someone without agreeing with them.

– Seeing Crosshair and Hunter stuffed into that pod together makes me feel a thousand emotions on top of the ones I was already drowning in. (Tech and Echo sharing one is also pretty cute.)

– "I can't see anything. / "That is a good thing." 😅

– The music when Omega goes after AZI is so damn good.

– Crosshair's reaction to all the others aiming at him after he takes that shot absolutely murders me. He's so resigned when he sits back down. No one even says thank you.

– Crosshair always seems to be the last to get up in this episode. It's not just that he actively keeps his distance to the others. He moves more slowly. Not to mention the way he almost falls apart in the lab before Omega approaches and he has to act functional again. He's not doing well at all. And with that, my fanboy batteries are fully charged and I'm vibrating at top speed in anticipation of S2. ✨

are the avengers cops? how does any of this works comics are so confusing

are the avengers cops ; no. at least, not originally, and not really until 9/11, but then I would argue that the majority of superhero teams including the xmen have fed into propaganda for the military since 9/11. before that though, the avengers were really not cops; they all actively hate and resent the government agent henry gyrich who is supposed to be their overseer, i mean, vision, Wanda, Beast, and im pretty sure sam all physically wanted to beat the shit out of him. in one issue of the avengers, beast says to simon williams while flying to help some russian people "there's no american before our name". Vision was often used to discuss minority politics under comics code authority, as was Wanda.

after 9/11, they have become much more militarised, I'll admit that, but again, I'd argue that also applies to the Justice League or anyone else. But that definitely isn't reflective of the Avengers as a whole and dismissing them as cops or feds is just dumb because various avengers characters have actively had stories about the corruption of the military and the police force and police violence or police apathy; similarly, the xmen became cops during x-treme x-men, so you can't really claim one team to be one way and make excuses for another.

And yeah, it's a problem... I don't want to say it's exclusive to xmen fans but I'll be honest, I haven't seen comic Avengers fans or comic FF fans or comic GOTG or Inhumans or whatever fans act the same way in the same volume; you might get the odd person making fun of the X-Men but they are few and in between. And I like the X-Men; Armando Muñoz is one of my fave characters who I am constantly starved for content of, and Ororo and Kurt and the rest go without saying as being great characters. But there's just this weird like... inate anger towards the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, for some reason and I don't know why? I mean, I mostly blame those podcasts ( you know who ) who constantly make excuses for like... bodysnatcher betsy but the avengers all get painted with the cop brush and are just not discussed unless to clown on them. Which is fine, but then dont act like you have zero influence on fandom perceptions of these characters 😭

Anyway, genuinely, there should be more willingness to be just apathetic. Like, if you haven't read the FF, you can just say oh , they're not my thing, you don't need to talk about how Reed Richards is anti-mutant and a cop and has personally murdered your mother, like cmon 😭 again, I'm sure fans of other comic teams are also guilty of this, but it is by large a phenomenon in x-men circles and it's annoying because it kind of keeps me from reaching out to other fans, like I actually LIKE these guys but if you're also telling me how much these other characters that I'm really passionate about suck ass then I don't want to interact with you! I stop feeling passionate about these characters because I feel like everyone who likes them vehemently hates the other guys I'm into! It's just disheartening a lot of the time for people with eggs in more than one basket I think.

But there are plenty comic communities that are okay, I mean, I'm having a pretty good time on the small ant-man fandom! By nature of how divisive Hank is, a lot of people are already used to people having other opinions so it's mostly chill, and there are a few discords I'm part of that are nice and chill! It's just sort of hard to find them, especially on twitter, beyond like, a few FF fans and the very small comic Scarletvision fandom everyone there is so aggressive it's not a fun time 😭 keep searching tho anon, there are good communities out there! Just hard to find through the qrts of the official marvel account sudjdndbhffh

I've been in the PCU since it was created, I was in the Rotgarde long before that. I've had some great times with the community and I always thought that Perroy was a great leader. You could refer to me as one of the Old Guard, however I've not once been featured on here whereas others in community have. Perhaps my association alone is enough to be seen in a bad light, but at the end of the day that community and the players within it have stood by my side and supported me through the highs and lows alike. I've found lifelong friends in the community and whilst the group and guild isn't perfect, it has created a lot of good roleplay.

I was genuinely happy up until recently, while I will admit that there are problematic and indeed bad apples within our community the group was for the most part good. The reason for my changing state of happiness is due to the new direction the PCU seems to be taking, subtle changes are coming about and I thought I'd write about them here. Perroy is indeed gone and he won't be coming back - what was a surprise was how Gruggosh was chosen to lead the PCU as Perroy's successor. I'll be completely transparent and admit that I wanted to see Morsteth and Shewp take the reins collaboratively and I'm not the only one who raised questions.

Gruggosh's more moderate approach and policies were welcomed back a good portion of the community. I didn't think that the change would be a bad thing initially, but over recent months I've started to notice subtle changes. Gruggosh doesn't seem to get mentioned much on here likely due to his moderate approach, so there are many who are curious whether the editer team at CoAD mind Gruggosh at the helm. Some of the conspiracy-theorist types who spend far too much time in the private discord are hypothesising that Gruggosh has made a deal with CoAD, but I doubt that is the case.

You might be asking: why am I posting this here? I want Gruggosh to know that people are starting to talk about what's happening. A friend of mine started asking the wrong questions and the disagreement led to him being kicked out of the PCU. There's been an influx of new members and junior officers who have come in externally, some of them also seem to particularly dislike the Rotgarde and Grim Gest which is very odd. The new junior officers are all people Gruggosh knows and while new members are generally a positive thing, something just feels off especially because of recent events.

Myself and a few friends from my guild were asked to go act as NPCs for an event led by one of these new junior officers (I won't state their name as they'll immediately know who we are). Instead of being grateful for us generating RP for his guild he was being quite the ungrateful asshat. But one thing that stuck with me was how he joked OOC to his guildies that they had been given 'the PCU's used equipment' in the sense of us acting as NPCs. This triggered quite a few of us and certainly made us uncomfortable. My friend kicked off on discord with said junior officer who quipped back that the Old Guard were being 'phased out' and that we better get used to the new way of operating. After reaching out to Gruggosh my friend was then kicked from the PCU community a few days later, when I asked him what exactly had happened he said he couldn't talk about it yet but he said things weren't looking good.

It is not a nice feeling when you come to understand that there's a strong possibility that you're being replaced. When you see the community you helped build and support changing in ways that excludes you from being a part of it's future. I don't expect you to care CoAD and I understand why you don't. The new wave of players and junior officer are loyal to Gruggosh, the Old Guard for the most part came onboard for Perroy but it seems like our time is up. Then again what goes around comes around, as we're now mocked and laughed at by the new wave of players and officers perhaps it's karma for all we did as a collective. People are talking of resisting these changes but the subtle developments have gone on too far and for too long, we're the outnumbered group now.

There's word that the plan is to drop the 'PCU' tag as well in favour of something else, so much for the legacy Perroy thought he was leaving behind. Disassociating the community with it's founder is a sad thing, but it'll likely garner external support for the community. I'm unsure of Gruggosh will go so far as to denounce him but something is in the works. If I was a betting individual, I'd put money on the fact that the cards of both Morsteth and Shewp have been marked as the 'figureheads of the old guard'. They're both my friends, but they make for logical fall guys particular given the 'treasure trove' of evidence that can be taken both in and out of context against them. If they want to avoid it, they need to take action with their supporters but as I've stated I think it's already too late.

People have every right to dislike me or not take sympathy from a roleplayer from the Rotgarde and PCU such as myself. I just want the community and CoAD not to be fooled by the mask Gruggosh puts on. What he's putting together is no different to the 'PCU' it is simply the PCU with a shiny new coat of paint, a fresh wave of followers and a new order for doing things.

What we have here is the realisation that totalitarian systems inevitably eat themselves. Lenin has moved on and Stalin has taken the reins and proceeded to begin purging the Old Bolsheviks from their positions.

Perhaps putting stock in a community that is built on toxicity and the oblivion of the self (npc playing) as being critical to functioning in RP events is not a sustainable idea. We will of course report on anything Gruggosh does, and we have made it clear we already know that the captain of the ship does not matter when the crew are the same beneath him.

You are correct, we do not care for the internal struggles within the PCU and we have no sympathy for people involved. The door has always been there, you have always had a chance to do better before now, and now Rome is burning.

yEAH OK SO!!! so!!!! so bennet was an oc originally made for a big group rp run in a splatoon rp discord i'm in; it was in a similar vein to octo expansion except it was like a whole group of cephalopods were abducted to do group testing and instead of kamabo co it was nabemo co! they all woke up without any memories and, in octo expansion fashion, would have to progress through various tests to earn their memories back :V it was a very interesting rp and you can actually read it here! or at least you can read as far as we made it before replies started spacing out too much that we just couldn't keep the rp going ^^;

i didn't actually have his team designed when i originally made him, just knew that he had one

wasn't til a few months later when the rp started to wind down (i think it was around then anyway?) that i began coming up with other team members. nyla was the first, because i wanted a white-inked 'hacker' character! not only a hacker, but also a very big risk-taker, or at least usually. she's got octo armor that she definitely stole from the canyon, but now that her team captain has been kidnapped, she's kinda freaked out about taking risks again- til bennet assures her that whoever kidnapped him and whatever situation that was (he's yet to elaborate on it to anyone) was taken care of and nobody needs to worry about it happening again. she's very self-confident and loves seeing how much she can bend rules before they break, and is a tad of an adrenaline junkie. she's been on bennet's team since day one.

i don't honestly remember if anything in particular led to me making theodore and tobias; it was honestly likely just me throwing together outfits and seeing what looked nice and also if they happened to work with a weapon lksdgjs bUT

theodore is a very quiet inkling that can tend to let himself be a bit of a doormat ^^; he's workin on it tho! with nyla especially, who's not afraid to mince words when letting him know that hey, you need to stand up for yourself more. he's fairly self-conscious and people-pleasing and often puts himself down without even meaning to. i didn't get to develop him in the splatoon 2 rp arc as much as i wanted to, so he's gonna get his development in 3 \o/

speaking of characters who didn't get their development i wanted, tobias! he's. depressed. he and his siblings moved up to the surface a little while ago (they're octolings), and he just didn't deal with the change very well. everything was way too different, and yeah he had his siblings, but his sister was always out and about exploring the place and his brother was too phlegmatic to really get him out of his shell much. he tried, to his credit, and he ended up actually helping by getting him to sign up for a team, which turned out to be code:click! tobias is the newest addition to the team, and while he's very good, he's yet to really open up to his team and actually let himself enjoy what he does. he kinda feels like it all might change again soon anyway, so why bother getting attached? give him some time, he'll settle in eventually and learn that it's ok to grieve the loss of where you came from, but you can't let it affect new opportunities to live your life in an enjoyable way and that it's ok to let yourself enjoy new things, even if they don't last a while. so he's kinda like. dead just a little bit and going with the flow most of the time since he's also quite the phlegmatic :0

there's also a couple other teammates i made as well in the vein of what-gear-and-weapon-combo-looks-nice-and-also-somewhat-works-in-game ocs :y i don't think i've posted any pics of these guys anywhere yet

wade and jerome i don't really have much on yet, but i know wade would get a tad too competitive and his anger at losing battles was getting to a point that the team just wasn't able to deal with it anymore. he caught onto it though, and bowed out gracefully instead of it blowing up into a huge argument. he keeps in touch with the team and is on good terms with them!

jerome is also an adrenaline junkie, but splatsports wasn't filling that spot for him well enough, so he just simply moved on to traveling around and seeing what thrills he could get himself up to.

holly is my tentative new agent 3 actually!!! she was the most recent teammate that left bennet's team because she was originally sent up to the surface on a mission to gather intel and so was integrating herself into inkling society to better fit in. what she didn't count on was actually getting attached to her team, and when she realized she was and could no longer really commit herself to going against them, she ran off after spouting some excuse about moving to do some school studies. her goal changed at that point to go back to the canyon not to rejoin the army, but to try to convince the rest of her octo squad to go up to the surface with her- the squad members that were left, anyway. her squad lead had poofed after the first dj octavio fight (he's a friend's oc named matt), and his right-hand was declared MIA after a mission to investigate an old outpost went awry once the squidbeak splatoon showed up (right-hand is lotus, my agent 8!). anyways she doesn't keep in communication at all with bennet and co, and she currently is unaware if any of her squad is even still in the canyon or not, but she's gonna try her best to 'save' them if she can.

the angle i've for her possibly being new 3 is that the junker vibe fits bc she's trying to find parts to make something to combat hypnoshades, which, while not everyone wears them, she's now paranoid that with three squad members having possibly run away, the rest of her squad might be under suspicion of treason and be given their own pairs. or if she's caught trying to cause soldiers to defect, she might be given her own pair. so she's doing all the planning and building and collecting she can think of to get ready for her own journey down into the canyon.

but the old creep in the sewer muttering something about octolings caught her suspicions and she followed him only to get a title slapped on her she didn't really want and an... actually decent set of armor. maybe she could play along for a bit and use this for her own purposes. well, then dj octavio showed up and. he's missing his soldiers. and now holly doesn't even know if the rest of her squad is ok or not, so now she's determined to find the dj, find out what happened with the soldiers, and find out if the zapfish disappearance is connected to it bc if it is then hey maybe she could help both her old squad and her old team, and that'd be Pretty Darn Neat.

Music Monday #236: ATEEZ - Youth release: December 2023 genre: Kpop cw: violence, implied abuse, arson, flashing, unsteady cam

I did say I was going to keep featuring my best boys until they ran out of unit MVs, so if you're surprised I'm still on my ATINY bullshit, then shame on you, no cookies for you. XD

In the past, ATEEZ's members have often commented about how it's a shame ATINY don't get to hear Mingi singing more often, both because Mingi has a great voice and because singing makes Mingi so happy, but was something he'd thought he wouldn't be able to pursue after his voice dropped in puberty. As one of ATEEZ's main rappers, that is what audiences hear from him most often. And with him being paired with his BFF (and main vocalist) Yunho, it was initially expected that Yunho would lead the singing and Mingi would add some rapped verses here and there. Instead, Youth is the Mingi Show with Special Guest Yunho - Mingi does all the rapping (of course) and the larger share of the singing and while Yunho does have some lines to himself, mostly he turns up in the color lines, offering those high notes Mingi can't hit and harmonizing beautifully. And in my opinion, it's the perfect balance as Mingi's voice, especially when in the upper end of his range, infuses a certain wistful longing into a song about why being young isn't as easy as people think and the pressures of life, along with the importance of not facing it all alone.

This video, unlike the MV for IT's You, has a lot more storytelling elements to it. Of course there's still some amazing dance sequences, because Mingi and Yunho are both main dancers, but other than the few group dances, most of the scenes are dedicated to forwarding the story of the power of youth. It's was also mostly shot outside, in cold weather, so that final fire probably felt nice.

If it's been awhile since you last watched ATEEZ's Inception, now would probably be a good time to do that. Don't worry, I'll wait. ;)

Back? Good. While IT's You's callbacks were more in effect than story (since IT's You had very little actual story movement), Youth is much more direct - the scenes are unreal, of course, but still continue the story of Yunho's grief for his elder brother, killed in a horrible car crash, and Mingi's decidedly unhealthy home life. This makes a second suggestion that we're returning to the A 'verse close to the events of Inception, though of course even that is a bit of a herring - Inception is dream sequence upon dream sequence in the first place, with scenes mostly showing the members' backstories, twisted with grief, rather than current events. The "current" of Zero Fever part 1 is Hongjoong getting the team back together, but since the storytelling abruptly jumped to Z for part 2, what happens next is ... what we'll find out in the next major release, I suppose. ;)

maig, it’s so rude that your message to me came through my inbox at the very moment that i went to start writing yours, because now i’m trying really hard not to be emotional about it! so rude! i had to pause in writing this and go do something else so i wouldn’t just sit here and feel overwhelmed with gratitude. buckle in, this is going to be a long message for literally no good reason except that i have a lot to say. 

it’s wild to think that in the month of may it’ll be mark my 1-year of being on your team. once i got picked as a new admin, i had to read that dm a million times because i was sure it was wrong, but i was so excited to start helping out! and when i got invited to the admin discord, i was a little apprehensive, just because 1) i wanted to do a good job and make you all proud and 2) i was nervous about coming into a situation and being the new cog in the wheel when all of you were already so close. (especially because after a certain point the only “new” admins were me and cherry, and cherry didn’t count as new because they’d been in your d&d campaign and friends with you all the whole time, haha.) my nervousness was probably evident in my silence in the non-work chats for so long, lol. but EVERYONE was friendly right away and i really shouldn’t have been nervous at all. getting invited to jackbox game nights is still always one of my favorite things, and the first few times that happened i finally started to feel like, ok it’s fine, i’m not intruding on a pre-established group of friends, these people do actually like spending time with me and aren’t just inviting me to be nice about it :’) and in general, basically what you said in your positivity message to me about me feeling more confident now is really true, and that’s definitely due to all of your guidance and your endless patience. i am slowly distancing myself from feeling like i have to ride on admin training wheels, though i know that when i inevitably do have questions, i can still come right to you all because you’ll be happy to help me figure out whatever it is i’m confused about. SO i suppose what i want to say is just-- thank you for believing in me, and for trusting me to help make decisions. and for appreciating my contributions, too! when you and sunny came to talk to me about your concern that i felt overloaded by monitoring the inbox so often, that was really sweet and kind of you and i hope you believe me when i say that i do really enjoy it and i’m not stressed about it at all. i truly like doing it and i’m thankful that you all let me keep doing so, haha.

OKAY so on the topic of Star Wars takes wrt “character ends up in an A/B/O universe where they’re an omega, but they were previously a cis male in their canon”

So, obviously, Anakin would make a good omega and he’s also incredibly murdery. Foregone conclusion that we're using him for this.

There is no preexisting Anakin in the Omegaverse. He shows up JUST as the war is starting. Canon timeline is in the third year of the war (he’s 22), but whatever dumped him into omegaverse also tossed him back a few years. No de-aging, just a bit of mismatched timeline stuff.

He's... really good at war, and clearly a Jedi, so the Temple just kind of goes "WELL OKAY THEN, SURE, YOU'RE IN, EVERYONE PRETEND HE'S BEEN HERE THE WHOLE TIME." The Jedi, by and large, don't care about omegaverse dynamics beyond 'what do you need, medically, to be happy and healthy' and 'what do you need to be aware of so you can be prepared for biases you encounter in the field?’

None of the civilian natborns (mainly politicians) want to put him on the field because of those biases. Anakin, being Anakin, is VERY blatantly an omega in scent, has never been on suppressants (because it wasn't a thing he fucking NEEDED), is incredibly emotional as a person, loves kids, etc.

Like, nobody wants an omega fighting a war anyway, but THIS one is like PINNACLE omega, and those awful Jedi are making him FIGHT just because he's good at stab!

The Jedi: Actually, it's because he's got several years of war experience that we don't, and he's a good tactician that works well with the clones-- Coruscant: You MONSTERS The Jedi: Look, we gave him the option to not stab and he looked absolutely devastated. Anakin, several days earlier: You don’t want me? I’m not good enough??? Jedi: Also he can beat up at least half the temple.

He doesn't know a damn thing about dynamics, but he DOES know that sometimes he's so horny he wants to stab HARDER. The clones are largely disinterested in their generals' dynamics because between mostly-Mando* trainers and no-dynamic Kaminoans, they only really care if a person can shoot.

* Mandalore approves of Fighty Omegas. As far as (traditional) Mandalore is concerned, you want an omega that will kill the threats to your children as well as you do.

Anakin: You know more about being an omega than I do. Rex: ...I'm an alpha. Anakin: Yeah. Let that one sink in a bit.

We have two options for Obi-Wan!

Omegaverse local Obi-Wan (beta) has never met this man before, and is very unnerved that the immediate default reaction Anakin has to his presence is releasing Family pheromones as if Obi-Wan is his DAD and like. This strange, too-tall man from another dimension has got absolutely NO control over what he projects in the Force OR in his dynamic.

Obi-Wan was ALSO transplanted from canon to omegaverse, and is also an omega, for contrast reasons. He is nice and friendly and and likes poetry and that sort of thing... but also he has the highest dismemberment count in the movies. Also he doesn’t prioritize romance.

We went with the second one because it's hilarious.

Someone watching them spar: Wow, omegas from that universe are terrifying.

As previously mentioned, now with some tweaking to account for both: Obi-Wan and Anakin just straight up don't exist until they drop headfirst into the council room, already covered in blood. (It's mostly not theirs.)

Nobody realizes either one is an omega until they "naturalize" to this dimension and Anakin goes into heat... and doesn't realize it, actually, because his primary symptom is heightened protectiveness and aggression. Everyone else with the right nose realizes, because the man has no control over his pheromone production, but Anakin? No. He just stabs. He’s angry and horny and he will cut someone.

Ahsoka has no reaction to human pheromones but basically everyone smells Anakin's "my child!" reaction to her, so... Cool. Have a padawan, we guess.

Anakin ends up sparring a lot with Aayla and Ahsoka, because only humans and near humans have dynamics, so these two don't REACT to the pheromones situation.

(Palpatine is a Kindly Old Beta who tries to treat Anakin the way he EXPECTS Anakin wants to be treated, which is. Not. Accurate.)

I'm just so in love with "An omega can't fight." "You wanna fuckin' bet?"

There are plenty of omega Jedi, by the way, it's just... most of them can keep it relatively low-key instead of Anakin's jet-engine broadcast. Some, if they're known to be omega, probably take advantage of being underestimated, like Obi-Wan probably (and especially a version of Obi-Wan that was always an omega, unlike this version). They have a very different way of presenting themselves than Anakin, who's not subtle about being an omega and also not subtle about being all aggressive and stabby.

At one point, Anakin has to protect some Very Traditional Individuals who get all "Stay back, Omega, it's not safe!" and he's just... so tired of this shit. “You are squishy civilians and I'm a trained Jedi Knight and accomplished GAR General who's killed more people in one sitting than there are in this entire palace. Sit the fuck down and let me do my job.”

It starts making the rounds that Anakin insisted on fighting in person, and the rumors shift from "how dare the Jedi force an omega to fight" and over into things that are deeply hurtful in-universe in the vein of "broken omega" and some people try to say it to his face but like...

He didn't grow up here.

He doesn't care.

Say that to one of his friends and he's going to rip out your spleen, probably, but say it to him and he's just staring at you flatly and asking if that's a negative on getting away from the encroaching battle droids, sir?

"You're rather unpleasant for an omega, aren't you?" [deeply offensive] "I literally could not give less of a fuck about your opinion. Move."

It's not that there aren't omegas that act like Anakin, either, it's just that most of them aren't, you know, Jedi who regularly interact with the upper crust, or capable of his level of destruction. Unbeknownst to Anakin, everyone clocks him as Outer Rim based on his behavior, well before his accent gives him away, and certainly before he mentions he's from Tatooine, because Core Omegas Don't Act Like That.

Someone they meet in a more diplomatic setting says something decently passive-aggressive about how at least Obi-Wan acts more like how an Omega should. Then a battle breaks out for some reason, and... well. Anakin and Obi-Wan cause such a scandal by keeping score of kills in a battle, don’t you know?

Turns out sending Anakin to fight Ventress is great because she keeps expecting him to react a certain way but NO he's here to STAB.

I like the idea that Obi-Wan's favorite opponent these days is Grievous because the cyborg doesn't have a nose, and thus gives zero fucks about dynamics or heats. Dooku is a rich old man who has opinions heavily influenced by Sith Juice Making Him More of a Dick, and the Dathomiri can smell dynamics even if they don't have them, and so they have biases about those things. Meanwhile, Grievous is just there to Kill, and Obi-Wan genuinely appreciates the lack of commentary on his dynamic.

Dooku’s probably an alpha, or a beta who's used the whole "we are more level-headed" thing as one of several angles to keep himself the public face and supreme commander of the CIS.

On to more fluffy things that have less to do with political biases.

There's a lot of "I'm upset that my loved ones don't know me," but also please understand the appeal of Obi-Wan marching up to Quinlan like "Yes, hello, I understand you've been read in on the full situation behind myself and my former padawan. I was close friends with your alternate universe self, which I feel is necessary disclosure before I propose the following: Would you like to join me for my upcoming heat, as I have minimal experience with the dynamics situation and even fewer people I actually trust, and I believe I can put my faith in you to treat it as casually as necessary while still having control and respect for my person."

(The Team is in a fairly safe place to process stuff, but having sudden unexpected changes to your biology has gotta be a little traumatizing, on top of ending up in a universe where none of your friends know you and people have a whole host of unfamiliar forms of sexism to point at you.)

Obi-Wan, who wasn't quite touch-averse but was much more easily overwhelmed by physical contact than Anakin (who craved it), suddenly finds his body switching gears and insisting on cuddles with Trusted Loved Ones, which is.... mostly Anakin, on account of nobody else really knowing him yet. Also Ahsoka, who is aware that she's something of a replacement for her alt-universe self, but Anakin explained it as "I love you so much no matter which dimension I'm in or what you're like, and I'd like to get to know you the way I got know her."

(It's rather eloquent for Anakin. He got Obi-Wan to help him draft up the script for when he pitched taking on omegaverse Ahsoka as a padawan.)

Anakin gets a more intensely sexual heat than 'usual' at one point for Reasons (IDK it could be as innocuous as 'we got better food than the usual rations and my body is reacting to the higher fat content with the belief that it's safer to have a baby now'), which nobody takes a whole lot of notice of because they're in a WAR, and also this is only his fourth one so it's not like he's got a lot to compare it to... except then the predominantly alpha clones can't stop themselves from reacting to the pheromones, mostly by wandering past his door and asking if he needs anything, offering up alpha-scented blankets and stuff for the nest to soothe the hormones, bringing snacks and electrolyte drinks, and like, Anakin is flattered, really, but fuck off please.

(He got a warning from medical a few hours before it hit that it would be different, so he actually does have alpha-scented fabrics to help him out. Apparently that's a thing you can just ask friends for, so he asked Rex if he had anything on hand that he could spare. He now has one of Rex’s recently-used sheets and a bodyglove in the nest.)

(Anakin has no idea how to feel about the nesting instinct, but at least it’s warm.)

Listen. I'm not saying I've been low-key imagining this as Rex being a very subby alpha who's really into Anakin's whole Thing but...

At one point Anakin gets injured in a way that requires painkillers and he ends up whining to the point of almost crying about the fact that nobody is cuddling him right now in medbay and Kix just gives up and comms Ahsoka to come hug her weird older brother.

And Then There Is Purring.

Rex ends up in the pile somehow. He came over to check on Things and ended up yanked in by half-asleep, half-high Anakin, who has a grip like an octopus and no impulse control and is purring like a pod motor while NUZZLING HIM.

There’s a lot of blackmail photos featuring Rex’s very intense blush as he’s cuddled by his commander (giggling at him) and general (clinging like a tooka and rubbing himself all over).

Anakin is deeply offended that ANYONE thinks he'd want to get pregnant by just any old person, NO he needs to fall in LOVE there needs to be EMOTIONAL DRAMA and if Padme won't have him (apparently she's in a relationship and no he's not BITTER) then he'll find someone else to have a whirlwind romance with!

People think Anakin's a slut because he can't control his pheromone production (he has NO practice and for health reasons he can't go on suppressants) so he always smells open and ready for flirtations, which Obi-Wan also has to a somewhat lesser degree (he's older so his body just naturally produces less), and then someone tries to cross a boundary and grabs his ass and ANYWAY Anakin has to now fill out an incident report for breaking a civilian's arm.
