Eurydice had been bored when she’d picked her phone up and started scrolling through. She loved watching videos of dogs. She got lost in them, showing some of her favorites to Orpheus and talking excitedly about them. “Oh! This one is so cute! Look at her. I would love a dog!”

𖤐 . pairing - death cure!Minho x fem!reader
𖤐 . summary - someone dies basically so yeah
𖤐 . content includes - um major character death !
𖤐 . word count - 493
𖤐 . taglist - @sluttysammyy @delilahandfiction
𖤐 . a/n - sorry this is so short, but i also randomly got this idea (instead of working on all the asks i have 🧍🏻 ) (also thank you for all the asks i have <3 ) REPOST BECAUSE EURYDICE DID NOT DESERVE TO FLOP LIKE IT DID
Tumblr media
"no, no, no, no, no. hey-hey. you're okay. c'mon you're okay." he stuttered, inevitable tears leaving burning streaks down his face, though he ignored them. "hey, hey. baby you- you're okay. just-" he inhaled shakily, his breath getting caught in his throat. "look at me, baby. just look at me. you're okay."
he was beginning to believe that the repeating chants were more for him rather than you, the rational side of his brain rapidly failing, eyes constantly blurring and glossing over. Minho held your body close in his arms, his left arm gently cradling your head, which was shaking with his own nerves.
"Minho," you whispered out, barely audible with a sickly paleness to your face, small sticky streaks of blood seeping through the corner of your mouth. there were bullets firing, screaming, shouting, bombs going off, flames exploding from every corner, but the booming sound of his own heartbeat in his head overthrew all other noises.
Minho quivered, mouth dry, empty, despite his head running with thoughts moving thousands of miles a second, quickly flooding in one after the other. he allowed his eyes to droop down to your torso, the metallic crimson already engulfing most of your white undershirt, taunting him with its intensity.
it was unfair. your being had plagued his mind, being the only thing that kept him going. you kept him company in his dreams, distracting him from what they really were - nightmares. but nothing could distract him from this one. this very real nightmare. after six long months of torture, nothing had compared to this. finally being able to hold you in his arms again, only for it to be the last time.
from the moment you reunited, the two of you had yet to lose physical contact, swearing you would never let each other go again. that is why the moment Minho felt your hand abruptly pull from his, he knew it was time. he knew it was over. the ghost of your warmth lingered deep in his soul as the coldness drowned yours, your body succumbing to the inevitable darkness the moment the two of you were presented with the brightest of lights.
your path to forever freedom had been carved, ready for you, yet here you were, on an unexpected secret passage suddenly disrupting your long journey, where your story was coming to an end. the yells of anguish and silent sobs from your friends had no place in Minho's crazed mind, being too occupied yet utterly empty, despite everything he longed to say.
you were so close. one step away from the life you were destined to live together. but fate had been decided, your string had already been cut. and now the small threads of your yarn of life pooled on the ground as the blood seeped from your wound, the shattered body of your lover left to wash away the pieces and walk away without you by his side.

some details that i loved in la chimera (spoiler heavy) :
i posted this on twitter as well but i wanted to include it here too. i love this little moment here where italia rests her head on arthur's shoulder and for a brief moment, he's anchored to the present by that touch, but him being the orpheus that he is, just HAD to turn back and find himself gravitating towards the tombs, the past and his eurydice.
Tumblr media
the fact that italia's name is literally italy in italian and by the end of the movie she creates a community of her own where she's looking out for those that are outcasted by society, in an abandoned train station named riparbella which literally means "to start again".
Tumblr media
arthur's eye always being blocked by shadow throughout the movie until he sees the light at the very end
Tumblr media Tumblr media
according to wiki, the goddess the statue is based on is cybele, goddess of nature, animals, wild places and represents the "creative and destructive force of nature." her phrygian name matar (mother) alludes to the fact that she was a "mediator between the boundaries of the known and unknown, the civilized and the wild, the worlds of the living and the dead." i love that this goddess' presence in the movie symbolizes arthur traversing between the living and the dead worlds and getting closer to beniamina. i love that by the end of the movie, the statue itself becomes unknown to human eyes and returns to the wild, far away from civilization, which is arguably the same fate that arthur meets as he dies.
Tumblr media
the red string that's following arthur around is very reminiscent of the red string ariadne gives theseus to find his way through the maze. it's beautiful how this red string seems to appear only in his dreams at first but slowly starts crossing the boundaries of dreams and reality as the movie goes on until he is able to tug at it by the end and cross over into beniamina's world.
Tumblr media
arthur, at the beginning of the movie, says "so it's you. my last woman's face." how cool is it that beniamina's face resembles cybele's?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
arthur goes back to flora's house after being injured and her daughter finds him in the bathroom. spooked, she says "i thought it was a ghost" which arthur might as well be considering how he's essentially been a walking corpse this entire movie.
Tumblr media
also a special shout out from the bottom of my heart to the sped up sequences, didn't even realize how badly i needed them until i saw them. the chaos in these sequences is everything to me. this is REAL cinema!
Tumblr media
in general, one of the themes that i've come to love about this movie is how objects can have different meanings to everyone. an object like the bell arthur found was just "a thing that rings" whereas italia interprets it as a gift until she comes to realize it's been excavated from a grave. the statue was part of a shrine back when it was made, but to the tombaroli and the sellers, this is only a means to make more money. the train station started off as a place that symbolizes movement of people from the city to the countryside but has now become a home for the outcasts of society. the apotropaic phallus would've have warded off evil and bad luck back in the day, but is now used as a means of escape from the law. a simple red string is the literal lifeline for arthur as he tries to find his way back to his lover.
Tumblr media
also want to give another shout out to the inclusion of the italian troubadours (our greek chorus) who beautifully spell out the tragedy of our protagonist and his gang.
Tumblr media
speaking of music, i really liked this particular song italia was singing as she was practicing. the lyrics go "i'd like to explain to you, o god/ where my suffering lies/ but fate condemns me to weep/ to weep" and that's exactly when arthur finds her crying son. at least italia finds a way for her suffering to end by the end of the movie. maybe we can say the same about arthur too?
Tumblr media
i'll probably add more as i keep rewatching the movie lol and make a thread of this on twitter too (x) thanks for sticking around and let me know what other cool details y'all noticed!

"But as Eurydice was following Orpheus, she caught her foot on a stone, she tripped and she fell. Orpheus heard her stumble and without thinking he turned to catch her in his arms. He tried to break her fall and for a single moment he saw her face, pale beneath the silver stars. And then his arms closed around empty air and she was gone. In the land of many guests, the third Fate cut the thread of Eurydice's life for the second time. And this time there would be no mending it."

thinking about how years down the line, the common person in the avatar-verse would remember zuko and katara as. because if we go by how they portrayed them in the ember island players epsiode i guess it would be something like:
the great fire lord zuko was known for his duty and devotion for the betterment of the fire nation to such an extent that he gave up his love for the master waterbender of the southern water tribe so as to uphold the fragile thread of peace between the fire nation and the rest of the world.
i wonder what kind of epics about their love and sacrifice would emerge? perhaps they would be the orpheus and eurydice; the tragic love of the atlaverse :)

Eurydice had somehow separated from Orpheus. She had spent the whole night running from monsters to try to find him. The monsters finally disappeared, making her feel relief that she can safely search for him. She walks outside and takes off running when she sees him. She grabs him in a hug. “Orpheus! Are you okay?”

"How long have you lost yourself playing for someone else, Aziraphale?" Asks the artist with an edge in his voice. "If you don't want to tell me, that's fine. But it's not something you can deny, because it seeps out of all your metaphors the pain you carry with you. It's so intense that I can feel it slipping in sometimes." With his free hand he touches Aziraphale's face, lightly. "But that pain does not justify your inconsistencies. You want more than you allow yourself. You speak to me of things that then find no foundation in your actions. You would like to compose for me, to help me find myself, but if I want to do the same for you, you take a step back." He squints his eyes, resting his forehead against that of the Lord, who keeps his eyelids tight and his breath tight in his throat, unable to hold back the pained expression on his face. Aziraphale seems to shout: stop it, please. Anthony seems to answer: no. "I have never wanted to compose, Aziraphale," he resumes, "and believe me, if you could stop myself from doing it now, I would. There is no ink in the inkwell I use, but blood: at this point I no longer know to which of us it belongs." His breath shakes for a moment. "Know, however, that you can intervene. I cannot stop, but you can still join me," Theseus or Ariadne? Orpheus or Eurydice?, "for the wound from which I draw is you who cause it. You can close it at any time." "I have no needle or thread, Anthony," Aziraphale blows, sharing the artist's faint breath. And air is missing, between them, like thousands of other things. "I can give them to you. You just have to want them." "How do you do it?" There is a hint of urgency in the Lord's tone; perhaps a hint of desperation, a distant need that one does not have the courage to grasp. "How can you want something you are so afraid of?" "Just say yes, Azriel."
