1, 7, 29 for the ask thing!
aaaaa sorry for getting back to this a bit late, had a busy weekend. BUT!!
1. Who was your first ever OC? Do you still “use” them? How have they evolved over time?
I think that still comes down to Melinoe, who started out as a self-insert when I first read PJatO and later found out that there actually was a child of Hades(debatable) and Persephone. She's changed a lot over the years with the historical stuff I accumulated overtime, both about her specifically and in regards to historical context/accuracy. I guess the design change shown here is evident of that.
7. What are your favourite relationships between your OCs? (romantic or platonic!)
Okay SO
For the original story Mel is a merry prankster to the protagonist, Chryso(themis). She aides in her escape but isn't always clear about her intentions/motives for helping. On the other side of that is Mel's sibling-ish rivalry with Athena, and some sort of (non)girl best friends/I know you only vaguely but am somewhat intrigued thing she has going on with Iris. It's in the early stages and Mel/Iris is intended as romantic but idk how much room it will take up in the eventual story.
29. What was your first fandom you were in? Did you make any art/fanfic for it?
I guess, embarassingly but few escape it, that was h**** p*****. I was a good reader for my age so I picked those books up when i was around 7/8 but only read them through once (at least from what I remember) and out of order lol. I wasn't really old enough to have a sense of fandom, but I did write sorta in-universe letters to characters on this old typewriter that my parents had in my attic bedroom. My cousin once wrote one in a similar way (which I still appreciate very much).
I don't have serious nostalgia for it. The setting kept coming back when I started reading books like Charlie Bone (which A Certain Author has accused of plagiarism? sorta? it's a good series but I only read the first two books because the rest didn't get translated), Miss Peregrine, Fablehaven (similar case to Charlie Bone, didn't get translated further on), Percy Jackson, and many more books that I somewhat remember but can't recall the title of (in english). For these I did make art. There's a crudely drawn map of Bloor Academy that I remember vividly (it did not make any architectural sense, but that's ten-year-olds for ya!). I might actually see if I can find the books somewhere and actually finish reading it.
Regardless, A Certain Book Series was maybe my first step into a supernatural-elements-as-part-of-daily-life obsession, but not much more than that, in the end.
I think the first fandom I was active in in terms of art making was when Heathers got big on here. I vibed with both the movie and musical at the time. Grew out of it a bit, but it holds a good place in my heart. The musical maybe less than the movie, and I really have to revisit it again now that I'm sorta grown out of my own teen-angst days lol. It was a very fun time, for as long as it lasted. I still have some people pop up on my dash from those days. One of the authors of my fav Heathers fic actually has a wip in Yellowjackets. Time is a circle.
Thanks for the asks Ollie!

I'm rewatching Alex Rider for like the 7th time but with my boyfriend and guys season 2 is so fucking good SEASON 2 IS SOOO GOOD
Alex being such a cheeky brat with the department and Alan Blunt losing his mind because Alex is being so clever and annoying
The slowly building mystery with all the pieces that gradually come together
Alex and Kyra being so cute with the washer and "survivors club" and "keeping score" of who has saved each other's life the most (and the end scene where he's looking up at her from the stage🥹😭)
Jack having her own storyline that actually serves the story and gives her character a purpose
Tom and Kyra both helping to progress the plot in ways that are genuinely required from them and makes sense for their characters
The subtle hints that Yassen is going to wind up helping Alex in the end, the way his character gradually becomes more complex with each episode
Alex just generally being so smart, so resourceful, so capable and just really encompassing his character, not to mention the genuine depth that comes from his trauma + him accidentally getting people killed over the course of the season (Blunt telling him he has blood on his hands)
The tension that builds within The Department as Smithers and Mrs. Jones start keeping secrets from Blunt about Alex
Damian Cray just getting absolutely dogpiled by Alex and the gang who just keep screwing over his plan again and again
Alex and Yassen FINALLY having a full conversation and it holds so much weight and hits so good
The part where Sabina cracks Anders over the head with her own laptop (honorable mention)
All the cheeky light hearted bits where the kids are just being shitheads with too much power, like cutting off the electricity to the whole postal code just to use the computer lab
And then on the flip the angst that comes from literally no one believing Alex about anything for like 60% of the season
It's just scene after scene of "oH THIS PARTS SO GOOD" and it doesn't stop until the very end
has it been long enough that I can say that season 3 just doesn't hit the same😭

i was putting off watching two worlds (because of all the sex scenes to be very honest) and i finally got to it yesterday, finished today
tell me why i was so wrecked over "evil" tai dying? he was trying to do a good thing helping kram and then he goes and dies????? i was so upset.
no one gave him a chance until kram found him in that cave. no one showed him kindness. then kram did, and in time "evil" tai revealed himself to not be so evil and when he tried to help he gets bit by a snake and dies????????????????????????
when i tell you, out of all the things to be upset about in this show, that just hurt me sosososososo bad? i don't have the words to express why it hurt me so bad.
OH AND ALSO when he said, while dying?, he's never been to the cave but something drew him there? bitch.

fic writer ask game: 20 and 23?
Thanks for sending in an ask, bardic! (This one is for this ask game)
20. What’s a favorite title for a fic you’ve written?
A lot of my titles are either super generic (i.e. "Deployment Center," my first fic on ao3, which is just a pre-canon missing scene which takes place in the deployment center) or they're a thematically relevant phrase or word from the fic itself that i thought summed it up well enough to be used as a title. The latter ones are more interesting, although I think often people don't notice (or at least don't comment on it) when the phrase comes up in the story.
Acceptable Mission Cost is probably other people's favorite of my titles! In fact i think i chose that as the title because when i shared the first chapter on discord, that was the phrase people picked out and had Emotions about. The title gets called out in comments pretty often, which i think is a sign that it's working well with the fic. I'm happy with that.
I think my secret favorite, underdog answer for this is what happens to rogue secunits. It's a really short snip that i archived from a discord conversation, and i didn't have a title so i just pulled a line from the fic, but i think I picked a good one. I think it's clever the impression the title gives you vs. the impact when that phrase actually appears in the fic. No one has ever commented on this, so i don't know if it's actually clever, but i like it XD
23. How do you choose where to end a chapter (if you have multi-chapter works)?
I really like dramatic chapter endings! Cliffhangers, twists, or just a cool sounding line of dialogue right at the end. (This is probably apparent for anyone who's read the most recent few chapters of Old Unit, Young Unit, where i just kept doing dramatic twist ending after dramatic twist ending lol.) I've mentioned before that I'm not great at dramatic beginnings, and most of my first lines are pretty boring, but I like to stick the landing, so to speak.
Idk, I think i just have a chapter length that generally feels good to me (somewhere in the ballpark of 1-5k words, often around 2-3k). When I hit that wordcount I'm usually ready for either a natural end to a scene (when i'll try to end it on some kind of engaging emotion or tense moment of reflection from the narrator or something) or a dramatic moment that makes for a good cliffhanger. (My chapters do tend to get longer and longer as multi-chap works go on, lol. I haven't figured out a way to keep them more consistent.)

Merman! Desmond miles. Can walk on land when completely dry but has to avoid getting his legs wet or he might go *flop* face first in the ground. Comical to see him avoid getting soaked by his assassin reflexes
Does this mean… Bill is a merman too???
Or are we going for the whole dumb mermaid who falls in love with William Miles for some reason? (girl probably considered being water bubbles a better alternative some days after being married to him)
If it’s the latter, does that mean the Ibn-La'Ahad bloodline has merman DNA? Or did this just get added later on? Did Sef marry a mermaid??? WAS MARIA A MERMAID???
What if the reason why we get desync when Altaïr falls into the water is because he turns into A MERMAN and Vidic's Animus just goes ‘what the fuck??? I AM SOOO NOT BUILT FOR THIS FANTASY BULLSHIT!’
If it’s the former, does that mean Ezio’s a merman too? Or did the merman genes come from the Kenway bloodline???
I guess it would make Edward’s pirate life… better? Or would it make it more… complicated?
Oh god. The Jackdaw has a blonde mermaid figurehead option. What if that was Edward’s mermaid mom???
THIS MAKES HAYTHAM A MERMAN.
Just imagine this, nonny!!!
(I’m sorry, nonny. My brain just got away from me)
I... may have accidentally made an Assassin's Creed Mermaid AU.
