an underrated aspect of one piece's storytelling is how luffy has zero internal monologue as a protagonist (which is actually pretty unique) so a lot of the time it forces the writing/narrative to judge him by his actions first and foremost and thus any words he Does say are all the more important and this is partly why i rec the manga over the anime (not that the anime is bad per se bc animation is pretty with colors and sounds even though the op anime itself is notoriously badly paced in some areas) because it just inherently conveys this concept better and more than anything it shows how economic of a writer oda actually is despite being a 25+ years long running manga with 1000k+ chapters because if oda had like at least 5% more flowery language in him he would then spontaneously transmogrifying into nasu and would drop so many fateisms and massive monologue/speeches for each and every one of one piece's themes, leaving one piece an unfinished magnum opus because its next projected end date would be 2100 ad

#one piece is genuinely so unrecognized for how well it flows. nothing is without purpose #and oda does this with literally no monologues. instead characters just drop the sickest short speeches every other page #anyways if luffy met archer he'd think the man was cool as shit but the moment archer tries to give him any sort of self depreciation-#luffy would just call him an idiot with the most dopey ass head empty face imaginable. theres no worth in dying over pride or causes #its only worth dying for your own personal dreams!

I was missing the library I adored as a little kid so I looked it up online and guys. tears in my eyes. they have the progress pride flag in their icon on social media year round. a photo on google maps has "PRIDE!" written on the giant window in the kids book section in window pens with a rainbow underneath it. I can't wait to go back to the country that loves me so much I've seen just endless fierce love and respect for my community and I'm genuinely struggling to keep myself together right now because I've gotten so used to hiding and not being seen, or being seen by people who think I shouldn't exist. aotearoa I love you so much I can't wait to fall back into your loving arms I can't wait to make one hundred new friends. When Kaeya gives out hugs, they’re almost always a little too tight. If asked, he will answer it’s because he wants to test how sturdy they are or teasingly ask if his hugs are not to their liking and offer to never do them again. Really, he’s just microdosing on the sort of hug he craves without having to ask for it.

I wore a pride shirt to work today and I was spooked cuz I have a pretty public facing job and I'm very shy, but a nice older woman came up to me and said "I want to thank you for wearing that flag. It means so much." and shook my hand and left, but then she stopped a bit later, turned back and said, "That's not a flag. It's us."

#found my school poetry book from 4th grade #it has a variety of poetry prompts and 10 y/o me’s version of the assignment #makes me think more about me as a kid #and as I’ve grown up how I’ve idolized my younger self and always strived to make her proud of me #but like #however much I wanna stay true to her roots #and her vision of me #im also wayyyy fuckin smarter than that kid #so I think I gotta keep reminding myself that I need to keep a healthy balance of pride for myself as a kid #and self assurance in myself as a human living in the moment where I am now #slav #slav every day #voltron #it’s like that hank green talk about having no obligation to your former self #but also young me was swag as hell #so idk
