I love how whenever a popular cartoon show ends fans will draw the characters like. As if they just died. Standing at heaven’s gates being like my time…..has come…..

the problem of being hired to be an accountant and not actually being an accountant is that sometimes....there are things....that an accountant should know how to do that i have no idea about. now my question is why didn't they hire an actual accountant if they had this big of a mess on their accounts :)

Video
youtube
Really well-done and informative video. I have three major disagreements with him: I don’t think TROS is a bad movie (as a Star Wars movie it’s fantastic if you know and embrace what Star Wars actually is, and as a film in general it’s perfectly average, most of the professional film critics he cites are just butthurt over it in much the way fans were butthurt over TLJ which these same critics went absolutely gaga over), I think his definition of what a constitutes bad movie is asinine (sometimes creators’ visions are just bad, my dude), and his defense of the Sequel Trilogy “not having a plan behind it” is way too literal-minded (yes, of course there’s never a specific down-to-the-detail plan in any film franchise, but there’s at least a creative vision and general road map, which the Sequel Trilogy lacked beyond “have a new female main character and give Leia / Carrie Fisher the key role in bringing everything together”.)
Otherwise, this is a fascinating look into the development process of the film and how many hurdles J.J Abrams and his crew needed to overcome. I’ve already mentioned in other posts how at the end of the day, the biggest issues with the movie that are unique to it (so, not the lack of pre-planning factor) are the mad-dash editing (a special kind of executive stupidity given that Avengers: Endgame was released the same year, proving that audiences are willing to take things slowly in a grand finale) and the fact that as a finale it is so reliant on your active awareness of every prior Star Wars movie that devoid of that context it comes off as a thrill ride full of empty calories; the significance of certain events and character choices passing you by. But this video brings up a third key issue: timing. Not the 27 months thing; the video neglects to mention the 36 months TFA allegedly had was more like 24 months since the first year with Michael Arndt attached to the project was a creative dead-end much like the Trevorrow/Connolly time spent on Episode IX was. It’s that within those 27 months, Disney and Lucasfilm really needed to just give Abrams and Terrio a blank check on what they wanted to do right away. Because key elements like Rey as Palpatine’s granddaughter, the hidden Sith world, the nature of the final battle and the McGuffin leading to it, and the theme of found family and chosen destinies were tied up in awaiting the greenlight from the suits. If there wasn’t so much time wasted on the version where Rey’s lineage is “possibly Palpatine, possibly Kenobi, possibly no-one special, the vague blind grandma angle works for anything”, the final battle is in/around Coruscant, the McGuffin is a machine and the main theme is around repurposed garbage (admittedly an ingenious theme, all things considered), they would have had more time to fine-tune the version we actually have, even beyond what the novelization does, into something magnificent. Sadly, that just ain’t the reality we live in.

why would anne agree her marriage was invalid? what's she get out of that? it's not promising her her life is it?
well (assuming you mean AB), that's sort of what i'm getting at, we don't really know that she did. we don't actually even know for certain on what grounds it was annulled, just that it was, whether percy precontract or henry's prior relationship with mary boleyn or even something else.
it was bruited that she did, but it also was that catherine did. once you're dead someone else generally gets the last word on your last word, is my point, particularly if you died 'disgraced'. whether or not she actually did, it was put about that she did, and an effort was made to get her to 'admit' the marriage invalid, because the optics of agreement were better than otherwise. we see this in all the cases of annulment connected with henry (even in kh's, which didn't seem to succeed, there was at least an attempt to obtain annulment by alleging precontract)

Definition and function: Smart contracts are automatically executed contract agreements based on blockchain technology, which make it possible to execute the agreement without the need for a third-party intermediary. Smart contracts mainly run on blockchain platforms that support programming such as Ethereum, using the immutable and transparent nature of the blockchain to ensure the security and reliability of transactions. The concept of smart contracts was originally proposed by Nick Szabo in the 1990s, aiming to enhance the execution efficiency of traditional contracts by using digital contract terms.

Nintendo Announces That The Switch's Successor Will Be The Wii U Again
Tumblr media
Putting an end to months of intense anticipation and speculation, Nintendo announced today that the Nintendo Switch's successor console will have the exact same name as its predecessor, the Nintendo Wii U. It will also have the exact same technical specs and game library, and Nintendo projects the exact same lackluster sales.
In a press conference at the company's Kyoto headquarters, senior executive officer Yoshiaki Koizumi explained the reasoning behind the move: "We decided to release Wii U again because it's pretty good. It rules, actually. I love it."
Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa further elaborated: "Nintendo Land was my shit. Game & Wario was so underrated. So was Kirby and the Rainbow Curse. So was Star Fox Zero. So was Animal Crossing amiibo Festival. So was Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric." Furukawa went on to list every single Wii U exclusive game over the next minute and a half, as Koizumi cheered and applauded.
Also present at the press conference was legendary developer Shigeru Miyamoto, who mostly talked about how much he misses Miiverse. "I'm so nostalgic for Miiverse. When I look back on my life, I realize that without exception, my most cherished memories and friendships all happened within Miiverse. In fact, it was in the Meme Run community that I met my current wife and children."
"Splatoon 1 is the best Splatoon," Furukawa continued. "Mario Maker 1 is the best Mario Maker. Hyrule Warriors 1 is the best Hyrule Warriors. Mario Kart 8 non-Deluxe is the best Mario Kart 8."
"Yooooo, the battle mode with the racing tracks was so much fun!!!" Koizumi exclaimed, as Miyamoto vigorously nodded in agreement. "Underrated," Furukawa repeated. "So underrated."
The press conference concluded with all three agreeing that the Nintendo Switch "sucks" and "ain't shit," deciding on the spot that they would deactivate its online servers in order to reconnect the Wii U ones as soon as possible. "If you like Switch better, I'm very sorry, but it's inferior and we're shutting it down."
"I'm not sorry," Miyamoto said, addressing Nintendo Switch fans directly. "Fuck you. I wish I could shut you down, too."

UN Adopted First-Ever Global Resolution On Artificial Intelligence - Technology Org
The first-ever global resolution on artificial intelligence was unanimously adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on Thursday.

The new resolution urges nations to uphold human rights, safeguard personal data, and oversee AI for potential risks. Proposed by the United States and supported by China along with over 120 other countries, the nonbinding resolution also emphasizes the reinforcement of privacy policies.
This resolution marks the latest effort among numerous initiatives worldwide to influence the trajectory of AI development. Concerns persist that AI could disrupt democratic processes, escalate fraud, or precipitate significant job losses. The resolution underscores the risks associated with the improper or malicious design, development, deployment, and utilization of AI systems, which could undermine the protection, promotion, and enjoyment of human rights and fundamental freedoms.
In November, the United States, Britain, and several other nations introduced the first comprehensive international agreement outlining measures to ensure the safety of artificial intelligence from nefarious actors. This initiative advocates for the creation of AI systems that prioritize security from their inception.
Europe has taken the lead over the United States, as EU lawmakers recently endorsed a provisional agreement to regulate the technology. Despite efforts by the Biden administration to push for AI regulation, progress has been limited due to the polarization in the U.S. Congress.
Meanwhile, the White House has taken steps to mitigate AI risks for consumers, workers, and minorities, while also enhancing national security through a new executive order issued in October.
According to U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, it took nearly four months to negotiate the resolution, which provides a foundational set of principles to guide the future development and utilization of AI.

but yeah, we're all safe. une alerte rouge ça s'ignore pas, we very much keep our asses at home. pour l'instant on a eu aucune coupure ni d'eau ni d'elelectricité so we're all good inside; et dehors les les rafales de 200+km/h ont vrrraiment pas l'air avenantes lol.
have a good star war? 😘

SAG AFTRA news update:
"SAG-AFTRA Members Who Work on Video Games Go on Strike July 25th A.I. Protections Remain the Sticking Point SAG-AFTRA National Executive Director & Chief Negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, acting under the authority delegated by the SAG-AFTRA National Board, and with the unanimous advice and counsel of the Interactive Media Agreement Negotiating Committee, called a strike of the Interactive Media Agreement, effective July 26 at 12:01 a.m. Today’s vote to strike comes after more than a year and a half of negotiations without a deal. The convenience bargaining group with whom SAG-AFTRA is negotiating includes Activision Productions Inc., Blindlight LLC, Disney Character Voices Inc., Electronic Arts Productions Inc., Formosa Interactive LLC, Insomniac Games Inc., Llama Productions LLC, Take 2 Productions Inc., VoiceWorks Productions Inc., and WB Games Inc. Any game looking to employ SAG-AFTRA talent to perform covered work must sign on to the new Tiered-Budget Independent Interactive Media Agreement, the Interim Interactive Media Agreement or the Interim Interactive Localization Agreement. These agreements offer critical A.I. protections for members. Negotiations began in October 2022 and on Sept. 24, 2023, SAG-AFTRA members approved a video game strike authorization with a 98.32% yes vote. Although agreements have been reached on many issues important to SAG-AFTRA members, the employers refuse to plainly affirm, in clear and enforceable language, that they will protect all performers covered by this contract in their A.I. language. “We’re not going to consent to a contract that allows companies to abuse A.I. to the detriment of our members. Enough is enough. When these companies get serious about offering an agreement our members can live — and work — with, we will be here, ready to negotiate,” stated SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher.   “The video game industry generates billions of dollars in profit annually. The driving force behind that success is the creative people who design and create those games. That includes the SAG-AFTRA members who bring memorable and beloved game characters to life, and they deserve and demand the same fundamental protections as performers in film, television, streaming, and music: fair compensation and the right of informed consent for the A.I. use of their faces, voices, and bodies. Frankly, it’s stunning that these video game studios haven’t learned anything from the lessons of last year - that our members can and will stand up and demand fair and equitable treatment with respect to A.I., and the public supports us in that,” said Crabtree-Ireland. “Eighteen months of negotiations have shown us that our employers are not interested in fair, reasonable A.I. protections, but rather flagrant exploitation. We refuse this paradigm – we will not leave any of our members behind, nor will we wait for sufficient protection any longer. We look forward to collaborating with teams on our Interim and Independent contracts, which provide A.I. transparency, consent and compensation to all performers, and to continuing to negotiate in good faith with this bargaining group when they are ready to join us in the world we all deserve." said Interactive Media Agreement Negotiating Committee Chair Sarah Elmaleh.  For more information and to search whether a video game is struck, please visit sagaftra.org/videogamestrike."

The Rats Pt. 2
Aegon Targaryen ii x Velaryon(Strong)!Reader
Summary: Aegon attempts to make peace with Rhaenyra after being forced to usurp her throne. Lucerys’ death complicates things.
18+ ONLY, MDNI
Part 1
Tumblr media
“Princess Y/N of house Velaryon.” The guard announces.
Rhaenyra’s heart skips a beat, surely he is mistaken.
“Mother,” Y/N says, racing toward her. “Your grace,” she corrects herself.
Rhaenyra wraps her eldest child in her arms. “Mother will do just fine.”
Y/N buries her face in Rhaenyra’s shoulder.
“How did you get here?” Aegon would never let her go of his own free will.
“Daemon,” Y/N breathes. Knowing that her stepfather will owe her for the half truth.
“Where are the children?”
“In King’s Landing.” Y/N tells her, “to keep Aegon’s wits about him in my absence. He wants to come to an agreement, he’s more than willing to bend the knee. I only ask that he and Helaena be spared…as for Aemond Targaryen, he is a murderer.” Y/N’s voice breaks, “we will avenge the murder of my brother.”
Rhaenyra’s strokes a hand over her hair, feeling the dark waves that remind her of Lucerys. “Aegon and Helaena will receive full pardons based on your testimony. Rest assured I appreciate what you have done on my behalf.”
“Thank you.” Y/N pulls back marginally, realizing her mother’s pregnant belly should be between them. “Where is the babe?”
Rhaenyra shakes her head.
Y/N covers her mouth with her hand, “I am terribly sorry.”
“It is no fault of yours, darling girl.”
“I should have been here with you.”
“When I offered your hand in marriage, I had no idea Aegon was capable of love. It has complicated all of this.”
Y/N nods, “speaking of my husband. I should send word that I am well, lest he take out his frustration on Dragonstone.”
Rhaenyra taps her chin, affectionately. “I will fetch a scroll.”
————————————————————————-
Aegon’s youngest son is the only one of his children to share Y/N’s dark locks. His wife insisted they name him Aegon. After my dearest love. She said.
Aegon agreed of course as he can deny her nothing. The child wails nonstop, in the absence of his mother. At all of four months old, Aegon is the only one who can quiet him besides Y/N. As such, the King is now attending the small council meeting with a babe in his arms.
Their daughter, Dahlia, the eldest of the twins will sit the iron throne one day, through his line of succession and Rhaenyra’s. At all of six, she is sitting at the table. His other children Visera and Laenor have not been properly protected under the guard, they too must stay in his sightline.
“Gods be good.” Alicent frowns at her son.
“What is it?” Aegon huffs, arching a brow at her.
“The small council is no place for children, your grace.” Alicent explains. “They would be better tended by their maids.”
Aegon nods, “right. As you all know, two nights ago, the Princess Helaena was attacked in the children’s chambers. Our heirs were threatened and Queen Y/N was taken from us. During which time, not a single guard could be found on the entirety of the royal floor! Because you were-”
Aegon looks to his children in turn, “cover your ears my darlings.” He smiles, waiting until they have done as they’re told, holding his own hand over his infant’s ear. “Where were we, mother? Oh, that’s right, no one was guarding my children because you were fucking the royal guard.”
The council members lower their heads in acknowledgement.
“The men who carried out this attack, entered under the guise of rat catching. I want them found and swiftly executed.” Aegon demands, patting his sleeping son’s leg.
“We have been interrogating rat catchers for days, thus far we have no leads.” Otto explains.
A slow smile spreads over the King’s face. “Then hang them all.”
Alicent blanches.
“Anything else?” Aegon asks, watching Visera begin toying with Otto’s chair.
“A letter arrived from Dragonstone, your grace.” Lord Tyland informs him.
“Oh?” Aegon says, “from Rhaenyra?”
“From Queen Y/N.”
Aegon swallows, “did you read it?”
“No, my King.”
“Good,” Aegon reaches for the rolled parchment.
‘My dearest Aegon,
Please know that I am well. We would like to begin negotiations to end the blockade and create a peaceful transfer of power. This will require your cooperation, I hope you will meet me at Dragonstone to discuss this matter farther.
Forever yours,
Y/N’
Aegon exhales, sharply.
“What is it, your grace?”
“The children and I are off to Dragonstone.”
“Whatever for?”
“To negotiate the terms of Y/N’s return.”
“My King…”
“And if you cannot agree on said terms?” Alicent asks.
Aegon frowns, lifting a shoulder. “To war then.”
“He is unhinged,” Otto whispers to his daughter.
“As I warned he would be.” Alicent rises from her seat. “He is quite…devoted to her.”
————————————————————————
“It has been three days since you sent word to King’s Landing. We must assume Aegon’s silence is his response.” Daemon seethes, around the drawing table.
“Give it time.” Y/N insists, “you owe me that.”
Daemon smirks, “I owe you nothing, spoiled thing.”
“Mmm,” Y/N hums. “My mother does not yet know how I came to be here.”
“And you are not going to tell her. Otherwise, my distaste for your usurping cunt of a husband will be demonstrated at length.”
Sunfyre roars, calling their attention to the nearest window.
Daemon huffs, “I’ll be damned.”
“And he’s brought the children.” Y/N rejoices, running out to join her family.
Jacaerys is already helping to unload her children from the makeshift carriage on the dragon’s saddle.
“Mother!” Dahlia and Visera charge Y/N nearly knocking her backwards.
Laenor runs after them with his little legs as Aegon the fourth, stares at her, babbling in his father’s arms.
Y/N is moved to tears, “you came.”
“You didn’t think I would?” Aegon cocked his head to the side.
“It’s a rather large ask,” Y/N explains.
“For you, the world.” He replies, with a kiss to her temple. “Now, where is Rhaenyra? We have much to discuss.”
“Her grace will join us soon.”
Aegon nods, “I request a small audience, before the council.”
“That can be arranged.”
“After which your brother might tend the children whilst you show me your quarters.” Aegon whispers.
Y/N smirks, “of course.”
