I made a Guide to Bucky as an Amputee (link will be in a reblog because Tumblr is not working with me today...)

I do not have a limb difference so it's all based on research I've done myself and there is no personal experience on my hand. But since so many writers seem to not know where to start when it comes to Bucky as an amputee I thought I might as well share what I've found over the years...

As I also state in the document itself, this is merely a beginner's guide, I implore you to do your own additional research too!

If anyone with more personal knowledge has any pointers you can either comment them directly in the document or send me a private message on the hellsite! I'm open to learning more!

ZEKE ! these are some of the body references i use when i write for beefy or built m! reader. unless i include something different. it’s heaven fr. i love writing beefy! m reader who can cook and care for their lover! people think they’re intimidating because of their stature but they’re really just a big ass cuddle bug who likes to be held by their bf. i don’t like going for the muscle type all the time. if they are it’s gonna be fat thrown in there somewhere.

I DO need to respond because I'm absolutely thrilled that the Reference Section is getting some use! Thank you so much for reaching out and bringing attention to one of the lesser known parts of the library.

Some of the tips are written by me, and some of them are written by the @wolfstarlibrarian (who has their own awesome Reference Section as well!) and some are written by other blogs that I just happened across that had really good information. If you haven't used it before, I hope that you'll at least check it out in the future and see if it's something that might be useful going forward!

So, that is a section from this larger screenshot:

Which takes place in Waukeen's Rest after you save Benryn from the fire. I'd never taken Astarion into this room where Benryn is crying over his wife, so I'd never seen this before. But just look at this face:

He looks genuinely empathetic... like there is no disdain on that face, only empathy...

This happened after the Teifling Party for me, and I'd like to think it was a relevant part of Astarion's eyes being opened to how he feels about you if you're romancing him.

Like, he kind of looks like he gets it. And that is both beautiful and heartbreaking.

How to Curse Like an Ishgardian

I was coming up with ways to make my ishgardian characters swear and exclaim for my upcoming story and decided to share it =)

Some of these are my own, some are from the game itself and others are from others relevant media.

I read somewhere that when thinking of how to make curses and prayers think of what each culture values most and values the least. Whatever they value the most will be their prayer and the thing they least value will be their curses.

In Ishgard family name, religion and valor is valued the most. So, instantly, nameless people, bastard, orphans, heretics, rebels and cowardly people are looked down upon. This logic should help you make your own curses. You can also add some racist slurs against non-elezen and sometimes non-hyurian people. They also hate dragons, so pre-dragonsong war, a lot of dragon cursing would be common.

Small warning, some really foul language follows ahead. I will keep updating this list whenever I find new curses or come up with them.

1. Prayers, Exclamations and Blessings:

Halone, have mercy

Fury, save me

2. Insults:

Use these as an insult or add injury to another insult. For example, 'frostbitten whore,' or combine two insults like, 'nameless brume runt.'

'Greystone' in general can be used as an insult as bastards are really looked down upon. Haurchefant was very lucky to have a father like Edmont.

Insults used against AuRi as superstitious Ishgardians believe them to be related to dragons:

Mixed race couples are looked down upon in Ishgard so, their children face racism and bullying:

[ruling house name] leech; for example, a person sworn to house Durendaire to misuse their power, they can be called a 'Durendaire leech.')

[any house name] bootlicker; anyone who flatters and sucks up to nobles and those in power for their own benefit.

3. Exclamations and curses:

“Kilroy Was Here”

Want a cultural reference that Steve and Bucky would, 100% be familiar with? Kilroy is it — A long-nosed, bald figure, peeking over a wall accompanied by the words “Kilroy was here.”

This little doodle and quote is associated with World War II GIs, and over the course of the war could be found everywhere US soldiers passed through. Building walls, weaponry, bombed out ruins, barracks, canvases, vehicles and aircraft...any flat surface was fair game. To millions of military personal throughout the war, it was a legendary sight.

Why? 

In the simplest terms, it was cheap and easy entertainment in the face of war. It was a morale booster, an emblem of pride, a challenge, an Allied rally cry, and a mark of progress. “When you saw that ‘Kilroy was here’, then you knew the operation was bound to be a success.”

Precursors

This strange little calling card did not spring up fully formed from nothing, it in-fact had two key forerunners.

“Foo was here” During World War I, the First Australian Imperial Force (1st AIF) left “Foo was here” along with a familiar long-nosed figure peering over a wall, chalked on the side of railway carriages. “Foo” is assumed to have been an acronym for Forward Observation Officer (officer responsible for directing artillery and mortar ).

Mr Chad A similar doodle could be found through Britain from 1938, as a commentary on wartime rationing and shortages. Mr Chad would be accompanied by messages following the template of “Wot? No [blank]?” — “Wot? No Tea?” “Wot? No Bread?”. The figure itself was potentially based on the Greek Omega symbol, or a simplified impression of a circuit diagram.

I have no doubt that the boys, along with the Howling Commandos would have been familiar with the imagery. I personally love the headcanon of defrosted Steve or Post-WS Bucky absently doodling Kilroy on paperwork, napkins, or scrap-paper, the same way kids in the 90′s drew than dang “Cool S” on everything.

I once made the mistake of applying video game rating systems to fanfic so when I saw a fic rated E I assumed it meant E for everyone... I was surprised to say the least

Oh nooooo, Anon!! This is a very important thing to note!!

For anyone new to AO3 (a lot of tumblr fanfic authors will use a similar rating system!)

UR- Unrated: Author chose not to rate the fic, filters on AO3 will treat these fics as adult content usually. Not all UR fics are explicit, but err on the side of caution

G - General Audiences: No adult themes or violence, etc. Equivalent to G rated movies/TV

T - Teen: Some brief themes that may not be appropriate for younger readers. Usually fade-to-black type sex scenes if there are any

M - Mature: Could include violence, sex, drugs, etc. Think of this as like an 'R' rated movie (18+)

E - Explicit: graphic depictions of sex, violence, drugs, etc.

Stay safe babes! You can use AO3's filter system to chose ratings (amongst many other things) when you search for fics!

Ling Rui's home and family

I took some screenshots to analyze the layout of the flat of Ling Rui's family since I need it for my new fic. But let's start with his family first. Ling Rui lives with

Ling Zhu*, his mother: (*she's called Zhu-ayi in ep 20, but her last name wasn't mentioned)

Ling Yunzhi, the older sister of his late father:

They all get along quite well.

Here's the outside of the house and the entrance door to the flat:

The entrance door leads to the big living room with the adjacent kitchen. Take a look at all these different chairs at the dining table:

Unfortunately, we don't get many detailed glimpses on the kitchen:

Been super into time travel fics lately. My fav part (aside from Buffy meeting William) is the essential fashion montage. You know, where Buffy goes shopping or has somebody buy her a bunch of new clothes suitable for a pretty lady of the era?

Since I've already done a jewelry spam, here's some corset references for the lovely writers out there 🙂

Like all fashion trends, corsetry changed through the years. Some of what we refer to as corsets were actually known as stays. Those are stiffer and have more boning than corsets.

Stays kind of developed into corsets. So Darla and the women of Liam's time would have worn stays, but Drusilla and the women of William Pratt's day would have worn corsets.

Here are two examples of stays from the late 1700s. The first is from 1740-1760, the second 1770-1780.

Some stays from the 1600s. I'm not entirely sure which decade in particular each are from, but these are along the lines of what Darla would have been wearing.

There's not a whole lot of pieces that have survived this long, but here's two from around the time Darla would have been alive.

You can probably see what I meant when I said stays had more boning than corsets. It's very tight with few gaps between, creating a firmer conical shape than most corsets.

The first is a real corset from the late 1800s, the second a reproduction. As I mentioned earlier, fashion varied significantly from decade to decade throughout the 1800s. If you're having a character picking out an entirely new wardrobe, it's best to find references by searching "18xx's fashion" as opposed to just "Victorian fashion" or "1800's fashion".

Otherwise, you might end up describing a totally anachronistic silhouette. Like putting clothes from a 70's bargain bin on a character from 2004 and calling it "the newest look". (Unless ofc this is entirely unimportant to you because you're not a massive dork).

Anyway, another Very Important Thing about corsets. They were not uncomfortable. They did not restrict breathing or movement. Tightlacing was not mandatory. Farm workers, maids, and aristocrats alike wore corsets or stays every day for centuries and got through their lives just fine.

A properly fit corset provides support for both the breast and back. It's obviously more constricting than being naked, but so are bras and clothing in general. Some women who've tried reproduction corsets that were tailored to their bodies even say they find it more comfortable than a bra.

Contrary to the modern idea that corsets are a symbol of woman's oppression, the idea that corsets were painful or harmful actually comes largely from sexist men who looked down on women's fashion trends.

Basically, it'd be really cool to see a scene where Buffy puts on a corset that was made for her and is surprised by it not literally being the worst thing ever.

OH! And while we're on the topic of Victorian undergarments, one thing I never see in fics is an accurate depiction of their underwear. Yes, they were silly frilly shorts. They also had a slit down the middle to allow women to pee without taking their skirts off. Their coochies were easily accessible if you got through all the skirts and it's a crime that more people don't know about this.

Were they all are in a band (rock mostly) but insted of just one singer, they all switch and each of them masters a certain style

Remus definitly sing some Hard rock, Metal or Punk (We all know everyone would swoon over his growls)

Sirius is more in a Classic rock, like old style but also an evergreen

James is more on the side of Pop rock and alternative, with some sprinkles of indie

And Peter OBV is the boy. The boy of ballads and Soft rock that make everyone cry without knowing why ( I will cry for all of them but shhh )

I can also give examples because some groups are literally perfect in my head full of holes

Moony - Systen of a Down because Yes sir pls, scream how much you want. Rise Against, Disturbed (The hard but Gold ) Skillet( Monster Is literally Remus screaming his Life, can't change my mind)
