February 5th 2023

This week it was hard to keep up productivity levels. I had a doctors last Monday and so I'm trying to follow his advice for diet and exercise. I think I'm going to have to change my routine up a bit for this coming week. I am going to try to wake up earlier and workout in the morning because if I leave it until the afternoon homework and studying will take priority over it. Hopefully this will also make it easier to be on time to my 8am as well because that was a struggle the past 2 weeks.

I am getting... really worried about the state of healthcare and services in the USA. Not just the painfully capitalistic nature of it, though that’s a big part, but how we’re running out of medical professionals, which means the ones we have have to work more, which means they’re more stressed and overworked and have less downtime, which is extremely bad for everyone involved. Overworked and underslept people make mistakes, which is bad for the patient. Overworked and underslept people burn out, which is bad for them. And when they burn out, they can’t work, which means the ones still working have to shoulder more of the load, and it doesn’t take a mathematician to predict how that’s gonna turn out. It’s not even, like, a long-term issue at this point - I fully expect to experience the collapse of the USA health industry (and how fucked up is it that this is an industry?) within my lifetime, if not the next decade or two. This isn’t even just a COVID thing, though that definitely upped the pressure. The prohibitive cost of post-high-school schooling and particularly medical school makes for less people trying to become medical professionals in the first place, and it’s all just a collapsing capitalistic mess and people are going to goddamn die of this. I’m so tired.
