I'm sure I'm not the only one to hold or voice such a view but I love the creativity of the TWST OC community. I love seeing all the Disney media and/or folk tales that people draw inspo from for their characters. I especially love seeing multiple OCs based off of the same character or concept and yet still unique. I love seeing people look at the same template and take it in countless different directions. Give me all the Greek God OCs. Give me all the expies from the terrible-yet-great direct-to-video sequels and the underrated television series spinoffs. Give me the expies from 'it's technically owned by Disney' media. Give me the expies of inanimate objects I never would've thought of. Give me your fan schools, your fan dorms, your fan countries and cultures. I love seeing the sheer endless potential of all the creators working within the same sandbox.

Hi, can you drop some lore about the merfolk, I recall that there is a camp for welcoming them on land and teach them land stuff but I have no idea where I read that...

I believe you’re talking about some lore that Floyd drops in his SSR Beans Camo vignettes (more specifically, part 2)! Here’s a summary of all the information about the boot camp he mentions:

It was originally established by a mermaid princess long ago. She went on land and experienced great culture shock, but eventually married a (presumably human) prince. The mermaid princess would go on to create a land boot camp boarding school program based on her own experiences to help other merfolk who visit the world above.

The program has a land-government-certified facility created in cooperation with the Coral Sea. This is where the students stay for the duration of their studies.

The boot camp lasts one month and involves crash courses from “sun up to lights out” about life on land.

Some of the subjects covered include: wearing clothes, fire safety, how to breathe, how to walk, and land food.

It’s apparently more common today than it was before that merfolk want to live on land. However, it is still “pretty rare” for merfolk to want to live on land. Because of this, the land boot camp gets very few sign ups.

The program is very effective at serving its applicants despite being low demand.

Based on Floyd’s personal experience, when merfolk leave the water, their bodies feel very heavy and sluggish, and merfolk easily tire. Their feet also “scream at [them]” (hurt a lot) with each step taken. I’d imagine that this is similar to training muscles that you haven’t used strenuously for a while (or ever); it’s going to take time and practice to build up strength.

***Honorable mention:*** On a related note, Azul tells Riddle in episode 6 that an organization based in the Sunshine Lands gives promising merfolk who wish to work and study on land free potions which help them maintain their legs. (These potions wear off after 7-10 days and need to be consistently taken.) It’s not clear if these free potions are a part of or an extension of the land boot camp Floyd talks about in his Beans Camo vignettes, but one would think that it certainly helps facilitate the mermaid princess’s vision of better integrating land and sea.

Update: Jade says he, Floyd, and Azul got their transformation potions and went to land boot camp in Ultramarine City in the Sunshine Lands.
