Just watched Grimm: "Map of the Seven Knights" and I continue to be impressed with just how much this show let Monroe be emotional.

I don't know if people appreciate just how incredibly important it is to see a male identified character emote. It is so necessary to show not only a dude be demonstratively upset with grief and sadness but that Grimm gives absolutely no judgement from any of the other characters toward Monroe for expressing those feelings.

Even when Monroe apologizes, the other characters in the scene are quick to express that it's fine. Because it IS fine. It's absolutely and incredibly fine to sob when seeing your beloved family member murdered in front of you. It's fine to have an emotional reaction to your ex girlfriend giving her life for yours. It's fine to have an emotional reaction to your friend being killed in your house while you were distracted by impulsivity. It's fine to have an emotional reaction to being kidnapped and tortured and threatened with violent death for simply loving your partner. And it's fine to get choked up when trying to express gratitude for being saved from said experience. AND it's fine to have the same reaction to having a flashback that your partner talks you back from.

I hold true that Monroe was and is such an important character for people who society identifies as guys to see. The expectation of being stoic or emotionally constipated or angry over sad is such a powerful thread in the fabric of how a lot of culture views masculinity. Having permission to express emotions is so important. And seeing a character that is incredibly strong and intelligent be validated to express emotions is super heckin' important.

And, as always, Silas delivered those performances in truth and realness. Nothing seemed forced or posed. I truly miss seeing acting like that and wish I could see more of it in genre shows. Or perhaps I'm just currently enamored by my fixation too much to notice it in other media.

At any rate, dudes deserve fuller representation.

Ladies deserve that too but for completely different reasons that I'd need a whole other entry to delve into.

And us nonbinary people? Well, we're getting along with what we've got. Like...3 people. But, you know what, I'll take it.

Bottom line, showing guys that are allowed to have a full range of emotions on screen and in media allows guys in the real world to (hopefully) feel permission to express those emotions in a healthier way. We need healthy emotions to be healthy and safe people. And we need validation and to feel safe expressing them.

Dina, an actress, and Michael, a doctor, struggle to balance their relationship with their responsibilities as parents and fears of unemployment.

You have to make it through the wedding speech near the beginning, which seemed to never end, and during which I almost stopped watching. After that, still not all episodes are hits, but the amusing ones are clearly in the majority (for example, the ultrasound exam, the hospital as a war zone, the operating room, the funeral).

Formally, the episodes often use fixed camera positions during an episode. They are not as meticulously designed as scenes in movies of Swede Roy Andersson. But I think they are meant as an homage, and have the advantage of being livelier and less depressing than his.

Thule Society

These are some facts and curiosities about the Thule society:

It was founded in 1910 by Felix Niedner, a philologist and historian from the University of Berlin.

It was immediately characterized by heated nationalism and intense anti-Semitism.

It was transferred to Munich on 18 August 1918, on the initiative of Rudolf Glauer.

According to the historian Peter Levenda, the Thuile was a ''mystical society inspired by the theosophical writings of Guido von List and Lanz von Liebenfels, that is, a mixture of oriental religions, theosophy, anti-Semitism, tales of the Grail, runic mystification and Nordic paganism.

On November 7, 1918, Kurt Eisner, a Jewish intellectual and supporter of the League of Nations, proclaimed the birth of a Socialist Republic in Munich, arousing the ire of German nationalists. On November 9, von Sebottendorff gave a passionate speech before the Thule, inciting the members to resist the Red Army, and he became the leader of the Munich Thule.

In February 1919 Eisner was assassinated in an isolated action by a former member of the Thule Society, Anton Graf von Arco auf Valley, who was excluded due to his partial Jewish origins.

The Thule Lodge risked disappearing during the socialist uprising of 1918-1919, when some of its most influential members, including Prince Thurn und Taxis, were murdered on the orders of the Jewish People's Commissars.

The ideological legacy of the Thule society was taken up by the National Socialist German Workers' Party.

Its press organ was the Münchener Beobachter which would change its name to Völkischer Beobachter, the official press organ of the Nazi Party.

Karl Harrer: one of the founding members of the DAP, which later changed its name to NSDAP, better known as the Nazi Party.

Dietrich Eckart: who was defined by Hitler as ''the paternal friend''. He is defined as a martyr by Hitler himself in Mein Kampf.

Anton Drexler: first president of the NSDAP.

Rudolf Hess: He was appointed Reichsleiter and considered ''Hitler's dolphin''.

Alfred Rosenberg: considered with Hitler himself the ideologue of the Nazi Party

Hans Frank: future governor of Poland

Gottfried Feder: one of the ideological fathers of Nazism.

Wilhelm Frick: in 1943 he became Reichsprotektor of Bohemia and Moravia

About an hour after the guest’s arrival, the auction finally starts. Some come to share the money they have no other use for — others, to establish some sort of status, seek connections, or simply watch this odd species in its natural habitat.

While politicians lay the groundwork for a successful campaign, the law and the media follow closely behind, all with goals of their own. Weaving into the crowd also, are those with influence in the underworld. If you think they don’t have something to gain by blending in — you’re sorely mistaken.

Now my labeling only has to do with the main protagonist, except for the books labeled "Queer" some of those the main protagonist is not Queer but the book has lots of Queer main and side characters. I only included the first books to make it easier but some of these are series.

The problem with making lists for books is that there's So. Goddamn. Many! New ones are being released every single day so all I can really do is add as I go.
