Antinatalism debate with male friend
OH MY GOOOOODDDDDDDDD HE REALLY WON'T LET IT GO HELP😭
i just went back to the gc and he said sumn more. like, he CAN'T let me have the last say sdocnfvig nervous men are hilarious, in some way.
OH AND HE HAD THE FKCXJD AUDACITY TO TELL ME I TOOK IT PERSONAL, LIKE I SAID TO HIM EARLIER. passive agressive much? maan...!
i really got flashbacks of the vegan debate. it's the fucking same. really, the root to all evil is sexism and/or capitalism.
you know those ppl who get offended (intimidated) by vegans/vegetarians? they say stuff like "you should RESPECT that i eat meat as i respect you don't !!" 💀
the mass apathy and cognitive dissonance is really dangerous.
i feel for him. he thinks, as many people, sadly, that 1 or 2 people won't change the world, won't change anything. a handful, at most, which is not true at all.
this phenomenon speaks volumes about the effect the media have on society individuals. i have to talk about this.
if the media showed, talked about all the millions of happy families that there are, he wouldn't be so hard on this. cause he- oh my god, he said "but think about the ppl who adopt and are misserable. there's a lot of that" like💀 dude... that's rare. it's rare to have adopted kids, for starters, but sad ones? rare. and actually, families with adopted kids are happier, as they are definitely planned, unlike genetic families, which, i don't even have to say it, right?
so if we were to decide whether to adopt or not, based on the quantity of happy families, then we would for sure decide to adopt. but of course if i say this, it'd be like white noise to him.
"I won't make a difference" - said millions of people in unison.
i noticed something. he started, towards the ending of this debate (on my end, passive aggressive discussion on his) to mimic my wording: quoting, and a try of elevating the terms, longers answers. and while i kept saying more things, adding to my argument, from different angles, he kept saying the same things, just in different wording. a visible wall on his end, not a single moment where he tried to really understand the words in front of him.
this all started by him saying he wanted to have kids with his genetics, in which i advised to adopt because it is, in a nutshell, better. and of course, he took it as a personal attack, only he did not realise (or at least wouldn't admit so).
also, i think it, too, offended him that i just said that people who knowingly conceive are plain bad people. i guess it shocked him. he then pointed out that selection of words, so i corrected myself saying that they may not be bad people, but definitely just plain ignorants which... he did not appreciate, lol.
he just started uni this month, so i get it a little, very little, bit. i tried to cool it off asking about what subjects he has. because i started this year, in april, and we very likely have some in common. i asked about "introduction to scientific knowledge", because that one made me read an AMAZING book on knowing how to debate, basically. so it would serve him a lot to read that one lol. hope i didn't make it obvious.
like my mother said hundreds of times, "university opens your mind" which i totally share. hopefully he will be different in a couple of months.
i think this was the first time we talked seriously, like, without joking at all. a little note on that: make sure who your so called friends are by debating difficult stuff with them. talk about politics and society phenomenons. that will actually tell you enough about who they are and how mature (if anything) they are.
so, by this experience, i will distance myself from him, sadly. i am really disappointed. having male friends is hard because they tend to get defensive about their ideas and beliefs. and ugh, i just know he wouldn't have put this resistance towards my information if i was a guy. he has a lot of work to do in himself and he doesn't know. and if he doesn't know, then there's no point in me telling him i will take distance, as he won't realise. that probably means just never talk about serious stuff with him ever again, which is sad tho. i can be pretttty weak on distancing from people who are wrong on some things but share a humour sense with them, so i'll see. i'll update, if/when i remember.
keep an eye out on your males, people.

Regarding morality, i cant help it but feel like it is being used as a tool to maintain west exceptionalism/white hegemony (in the english speaking society), and Im in a phase where I just cant take it seriously anymore. Im S Korean and i felt frustrated at how the "west" painted the rise of anti feminism in south korea, as if koreans are "more sexist", as if painting the country as "morally inferior" helps women in s korea when korean feminists already go through such discrimination and prejudice. I saw some western online medias interviewing anti feminist korean men instead of, yknow, interviewing feminist women. Similar thing happened when kpop became popular; there were ppl criticizing the slave contract (it's an outdated law), plastic surgery (many western celebs also go through that), the industry being inhumane and uncanny (just blatant racism regarding Asians as "robotic, non-human") etc. None of these claims and views help to fix the issues in kpop industry. Being exposed to these types of comments really made me insecure about being korean at that time cause i would believe that my culture was "inherently morally inhumane". It sucked.
But it's not just western folks who think their "culture" is "less immoral"; while the relationship w western hegemony and koreans is really really complex, koreans tend to believe that west is "morally superior". The term westernized in korean basically means progressive, and for a long time until recently, koreans vyed (and somewhat still vyes) for western approval of their culture. I complained about how ppl viewed west as progressive and korea as more conservative and my cousin said "yeah, cause of history, that's just how it is".
It's not just korea though obviously. Zionists claim that israel's existence is justified because it is "lgbt friendly and respects women's rights". Even though what israel is doing to lgbt palestinians and palestinian women are horrifying and disgusting, but since zionists will believe that their morality is "better" therefore "inferior" palestine "deserve it". Thank god for terms like pinkwashing and purplewashing, otherwise i might have gone insane.
In a nutshell, i started to believe that current idea of morality is deeply colonial, racist and sexist. There are so many examples (like how violence done by individual black folks are heavily demonized, but a larger, more vicious and genocidal systemic violence done by white society at large is ignored or at least "thats just how it is-fied", mocking "unlikable" female celebs online etc.), like too many. Its so ingrained within our world. Believing this has been eye opening for me, and i feel more empowered due to it. Thank you for the space for me to talk about this.
wow anon you just said a whole word!!!! please keep talking and writing about this. I think you're really on to something important here

Hello, I tried to look up what "black pill feminism" is but have had no luck, and all that comes up on Google are definitions related to incels. Could you please tell me in a nutshell what "black pill" means in relation to feminism?
It's ironic it's called feminism given that pretty much all blackpillers hate feminism & aren't feminists but I think the feminism part is added to distinguish from the incel blackpill version & because before being blackpilled most blackpillers were feminists at some point.
This picture gets blackpill feminism in a nutshell:

It was posted ironically & at the time I wasnt blackpilled but I agreed with post of the points.
Essentially in a nutshell blackpill feminists believe that maIe evil & female pickme behaviour is biology and because of this there's never going to be change talkless of female liberation.
_
More officially (s/o @/squirepiranha for this) blackpill feminist beliefs:
Biological realism. Male misogyny, sadism, violence and the need to subjugate and control women are caused by male biology. Female submissiveness and pick-me traits are caused by female biology. These generalizations apply to 99%+ of humanity. Patriarchy is the result of (biological) misogyny, not the origin of it.
Feminism is a scam. Society’s definition of equality is re-packaged male dominance. Feminism has been hijacked by anti-woman forces and was always doomed to succumb to the pick-me nature of most feminists. Feminism is anti-woman movement.
We are heading towards misogynist dystopia. Hardcore porn, misogynist online communities, transgenderism, deep fakes, invasion of privacy, sexualization of children and the general rise of all things degenerate, fucked up and anti-woman. No matter how you look at it, women are fucked and things will keep getting worse and worse. Don’t have kids.

How is Rei saying a zoo monkey is prettier than you to Usagi's face "tough love"? That ain't "tough love", that's BULLYING!!! But 90's anime only stans believe Rei is toughening Usagi up and not bullying her. Not once does manga/Crystal/PGSM Rei insult Usagi's looks but she's bland.
But the 90's anime has the best portrayal of friendship the Inner Warriors. /s
The ironic thing about that scene is the fact that scene
comes up a few mins before this scene
Which if you was on tumblr long enough you have saw these screenshots
a lot
You see everyone love posting the last three pics to show how female empowerment SM is since Jadeite is hating on woman but they really forgot that scene that happen prior to them having their “ girl power” moment. Rei pretty much saying that Usagi is not beautiful and monkey is prettier than her after Usagi was saying she is prettier than Rei. You got both girls putting down each another for their looks. Which goes against one of the things feminism supposed to stand for which is sisterhood and unity. You supposed to straighten each other crown when it’s crooked. Not stomp all over it.
So how the hell can you label this episode as being “ feminist” and empowerment cause they are down with discrimination and about to kick Jedite’s ass when five seconds ago the two main characters who are woman where insulting each other looks and putting the other down? Granted Ami told them to cut it out but still.
It just really negates the whole “ down with discrimination” thing cause how can you being unified against it when yall insulting each other a few seconds ago?
This example shows how contradictory the series can be in a nutshell.
Especially even before both of those scenes you had this one.
So you had Rei saying meaning things to Usagi twice and Ami have to tell them to cut it out twice in the same damn episode. ( Episode 13 aka Jadeite’s last episode. )
You show the girls in a united front when the plot permits it but in other times you have them saying the nastiest shit to each other.
I thought female empowerment and feminism was about lifting your sister up all the time and not when the plot says so..
But hey when the majority of the show is written by men...
Which in this twitter thread because people commenting and QTing it is not getting the point.

Could you talk about your experience with id-ing as trans and then detransitioning? (only if you're comfortable of course)
I don't identify with the term detrans because that's for someone who messed with hormones and surgeries. My "transition" was purely social.
I won't go much into detail because I already have three posts ranting about it, so this is in a nutshell. All the way through primary school I never fit in with any of the girls and prefered hanging with guys. I always felt alienated in every situation. Boys seemed so much easier. So I started thinking that my life would be better as a boy. I didn't fit into femininity, after all.
While identifying as trans, I was torn between being a trans boy or being genderfluid. I strictly used he/they pronouns for myself. "She" made my stomach squeeze. I would stand in front of the mirror, squeezing my chest flat and admiring how it looks, or stick socks into my underwear to pack. I buzzed my hair off, shopped in men's clothing section. I'd use a different name online and often pretend I'm a guy. As a masculine woman, I often get misgendered. That gave me crazy euphoria back in the day. Only very close friends knew about it, I never managed to "come out" to anyone else. I got called a tranny and a faggot by my closest friend. I felt depressed, hated myself, hated my body, and developed anorexia.
I don't remember when I managed to dig myself out of this hole. I remember forcing myself to go back to using she/her pronouns. I learned body positivity and body neutrality. I accepted my sexuality. I found radical feminism.
Radical feminism was something I've been lurking around for a year or two. At first, I hated the TERFs. I often made fun of them. I was a libfem, after all. It only clicked once I dropped this narcissistic trans mentality. I peaked and started this blog some months ago. I still have dysphoria, but I no longer look to transition. I am happy with how I was born and I would never want to be male.

dreaming and IRL worldbuilding
I’ve been doing some talking about getting into radicalism and how to organize. You can do that first—you have a feeling that things need to change and you just act. At some point though, I think it’s important to start thinking from a longer-term perspective. That's where visioning comes in.
To know how to change the world, we should know what we want it to look like. Solarpunk is a great example of this—giving us aspirational visuals and vistas for how the world could look if we got our shit together. This is what a vision is in a nutshell.
Once we have have an understanding of what we want the world to look like, we have to figure out how to get there. This is where things start to become interesting. To me, values are like guiding principles that we ground our actions in. To come up with values, think about the ethics and principles that are embedded in your vision. If we think about solarpunk, some values that I see are ecological harmony, intersectional feminism, and economic democracy.
When we have our vision and values in place, we can think about the specific things that we want to accomplish. Our goals should be relatively concrete things that we can build strategies around. What are the material changes that you want to happen? What are the specific, tangible things that you can work towards? If it’s too broad (ex: “I want to abolish the commodity form”), then that might be one of the descriptors of your vision.
So, you create a vision → which informs your values → and dictates your goals.
To develop a vision, put on your dreaming goggles. Imagine what the world can look like. Try to engage your senses. What do you see? What do you hear? What does it smell like?
To develop your values, look at that vision, analyze the implied material and social contexts and use those as guiding lights.
To develop your goals, think about the specific things you can work towards, acting within your values, to create fertile ground for your vision to flourish.
To wrap up, I want to walk through a vision of a better world. If you want some homework, you can derive some values and goals from that.
---
As I leave my house for the day, I step out onto a quiet city street. The air is crisp and filled with the scent of freshly bloomed flowers and the subtle aroma of earthy, homegrown herbs. The street is lined with majestic, towering trees, their leaves dancing in the gentle breeze, casting shattered shadows on mosaic sidewalks below.
As I walk along the street, I hear the melodies of birds chirping, flitting from mossy building to wild rooftop. The sound of laughter and lively conversations fills the air, as people gather in community spaces and reclaimed streets.
The buildings themselves are architectural wonders, adorned with solar panels and living walls that burst with vibrant vegetation. They harmoniously blend into the surrounding natural landscape, their design inspired by historical ecological buildings. These buildings are not just structures; they are living organisms, integrated with the ecosystem, providing shade, shelter, and sustenance for both humans and wildlife.
Streets are bustling with activity, but they are not dominated by cars. Instead, it is a pedestrian-friendly space where people of all ages and abilities move freely and safely. Electric trams silently glide by, their sleek design reflecting the beauty of their surroundings.
Local artisans and worker-owners have set up vibrant market stalls, showcasing their handmade creations and locally sourced goods. Vibrant textiles, handcrafted jewelry, and organic produce catch the eye. Neighbors stop to chat, share stories, and exchange ideas.
In the distance, I see a community forest garden, a lush oasis of greenery where residents gather to cultivate their own food. The garden is a testament to space reclaimed by the people, fostering a sense of ownership and connection to the land.
As I continue my walk, I feel a sense of hope and possibility. This city is a testament to the power of collective action and the transformative potential of dreaming and envisioning a better world.
