Over the last few months I've been playing with paper doll designs again in my free time and have made it through maybe half of these?

They’re really only paper dolls in the sense that I get the pleasure of playing with them by drawing outfits on over the bases, but maybe someday I’ll make printable files; I dunno.

1. Philon Awards 2025: Nominations Phase is happening Don't forget to nominate your faves! In order to make it onto the voting ballot, a work needs at least 3 nominations. If you need some inspiration, check out the various events that took/are taking place during the eligibility phase (1 September 2024 – 31 July 2025). Works featuring Kirk/Spock or Kirk & Spock that were created for and published during Trektober 2024, Spirk-O-ween 2024, K/S Advent 2024, Star Trek Winter Gift Exchange, Bottom Spock Week, Live Long and Pin-Up, K/S Spring Fever 2025, and Spirk in a Cave (will happen in July) are eligible. And there were many other multiship and multifandom events (fic exchanges, prompt memes, art challenges) that also resulted in K/S works; just make sure the works you nominate fit the Philon rules.

Got a pattern for glisten down! still need to test it but I'm super happy! Can't wait to put it together and see how it goes. I still have to properly break down the pattern into a printable file but ill worry about that when i know the pattern works. Gotta also worry about his accessories but we're getting there!

decided to make glisten's foot in 3d to make a better pattern piece out of it, then sent it to adobe illustrator and traced it and adjusted it to make sure the pieces fit correctly. Gotta make sure it works though cause i only used plushify for 3d models, im worried it wont come out right

the rest is merely a matter of breaking down the pattern into front and back pieces so its pretty self explanatory.

besides that my main concern is making the joints functional but stable. theres also the thickness of the head compared to the body (since the body is only a front and back piece. but i imagine its an easy fix cause i can trim the side head piece. also the seam allowance might be too big but trimming should fix that.

already have the fabric ready for it too. I was gonna prototype it but im kinda impatient plus i imagine the adjustments ill need to do are minor so we ball.

im looking forward to finishing this project. Glisten is a huge comfort character to me and i wanted to make something that i can share with other fans and encourage sewing as a hobby. the pattern still needs some work i think but i look forward to sharing it with yall for free.

that said, please dont spread this around (yet) or try to profit off it. if you want to try out this pattern as it is right now, just be sure to credit me and let people know that pattern isnt finished and redirect them to this post (or some of my other ones) if they're curious. thanks yall

Mod talk Category: Quality of life

I know my way around the starbound workshop better than most so I figured I'd share the love and talk about the mods I have installed, the category for this particular post being quality of life, as that's probably the most universally liked one. Quality of life means anything that adds ease of access to certain features, new mechanics, or simply more variety

Are these mod recs? Not necessarily. Read carefully, make an informed decisions, and back up your save file beforehand if you do want to try some of them out. Happy modding!

"Extended block crafting" by HaxoFelyne Summary: Adds crafting recipes for 32 uncraftable blocks because fuck uncraftable blocks Usefulness: 10/10 Cheating?: Brains are the only really broken block in the game and this mod doesn not add them, so balanced Lore compliance: N/A

"Why is this not printable?!" by Cthonyxa Summary: Makes more items printable Usefulness: 8/10 Cheating?: Things like art and major artifact clues remain unprintable which makes sense Lore compliance: yes

"Hop On Shops" by Argle Bargle Summary: Adds platform collision to various outpost objects Usefulness: 2/10, good for immersion Cheating?: No Lore compliance: More-so than vanilla

"More idle poses" by Argle Bargle Summary: Unlocks more combinations of arm, leg, and head positions at the character creation screen. Also applies to npc's. "Show item names!" by Silver Sokolova Summary: Shows the in-file name in the lower left corner of the description window Usefulness: 4/10, it can sometimes provide insight the game itself does not like the species tag, usually helps you deduce what mod the item is from, and can make building in admin mode easier. I just think it's neat Cheating?: It could be under some circumstances, like if an item is meant to be mysterious and the name gives it away for example. Lore compliance: N/A

"Corbent's Interactive Crew" by, you guessed it, Corbent Summary: Allows you to direct your crew (to a degree,) ups a few of their stats, allows them to swim, adds some dialogue, and some npc's will randomly ask to date you rather than you hiring them Usefulness: 10/10 Cheating?: Makes crew members somewhat better, but not too much better imo Lore compliance: Makes crewmembers say random dialogue lines instead of one, making them feel less individual :/

"NPCSpawner+" by Depression Hurts, Eat More KFC Summary: Allows you to create an npc of any species, color scheme, type, personality, and clothing Usefulness: 9/10, good for porting crewmates over to new player characters, skirting gendered hair style restrictions, giving certain npc's impossible color schemes, and putting an oc in the game without having to play as them Cheating?: Let's you get free crew members so yes, something something self control Lore compliance: Definitely not

"Job Offers" by this is a profile name Summary: Adds craftable tools that allow you to recruit any friendly or neutral npc for the indicated job, including merchants and other ordinarily non-recruitable npc's Usefulness: 9/10, we've all had that one merchant we really wanted to recruit but couldn't amirite Cheating?: Totally bypasses the need to do quests to recruit crewmembers for all the benefits thereof. You'll need good self control to avoid abusing this mod's power Lore compliance: Eh

"Ever[Frogg/Lana/Penguin]" by Star-X Summary: Makes the indicated outpost shops sell all their stock at all times no matter what Usefulness: 4/10, you could just be patient/find the relevant blueprints but eh Cheating?: Oh yes Lore compliance: No

"CityScaper - Building Made Easy!" Summary: Let's you build a colony prefab style, for a price Usefulness: Depends on who you are Cheating?: It's expensive as shit to use so I'd say no Lore compliance: N/A

"Item Frame" by Peassly Wellbott Summary: Adds an item frame bench where you can craft two types of item frames, one which shows the icon and one which shows items at full size. Works on both vanilla and modded items. Note: Some items will not display correctly Usefulness: 10/10, WHY is this not in the base game?? Cheating?: No Lore compliance: N/A

"Aging Alien Alcohols" by Lilegite Summary: Allows you to craft a fermentable version of drinks and a few other items which will eventually turn into alcoholic beverages Usefulness: 5/10, some utility but it's mostly just for fun/roleplay purposes Cheating?: Adds some non-perishable hunger-restoring items via set-it-and-forget-it means so it does have an effect on game balance, but only slightly Lore compliance: More-so than vanilla

"Betabound!" by Silver Sokolova Summary: Adds outpost npc quests, re-implements scrapped bosses and their corresponding codices (but no other codices thank god,) adds a new tech slot and many new techs, lets you switch out your matter manipulator for any other digging tool, makes food stack, reskins a couple food items, adds many weapons, adds new tools and makes digging tools repairable, adds furniture crafted from high tier ores, adds new ores, adds more fuel options, adds more cooking recipes and alters the buffs of many food items, adds upgrade kits for weapons, makes it possible to copy books and even write your own, makes some weapons dyeable, lets you copy and craft blueprints, and adds some monsters. Be aware that it does alter random weapon generation and changes a few vanilla sprites though Usefulness: 8/10, makes your character more customizable Cheating?: Drastically alters the balance of the game in the player's favor Lore compliance: The boss codices reference explicitly non-canon characters and events, other than that it's perfectly fine

hi, about the astor zine,

1- how many maximum number of images per submission? (example: astor mod screenshots can be a lot of images for a single submission subject if unlimited)

2- is a zine web published? or intended as physical print as well? asking for if gifs or videos can be turned in as well, and if a clear (printable) thumbnail would be needed if so/if not

a. I'm going to say no limit, because I've already planned for shortened versions of the zine. My hope was to get so many submissions that a full, printed version would be difficult. In that spirit I ask that any extremely long submissions come with a shortened version of the submission, like an abstract on a paper. Just like how NSFW works can be submitted alongside a censored version for the safe for work editions. Reminder that I will not edit, censor, or shorten any works, so keep an eye out for followup emails because I'll be in contact about any and all potential changes. That said if you're unsure if a submission is long enough to require a shortened version you can always email me. b. Each drawing/picture/comic/triptych or the like will count as one submission but there's also no limit on the number of submissions any one person can submit, so the people submitting meta or memes or tutorials aren't getting some kind of multi-submission loophole here. c. But I also ask that any writing submitted alongside images be under 2500 words, the same as the limit for other written submissions. This is not a hard limit, more of a guideline. If your work is a few dozen or even a couple hundred words over the limit, I'll work with you on it. The limit is to encourage shorter excerpts instead of printing multiple full novel-length fics within the zine.

a. There is going to be an online PDF version, so links to external websites or files will be an option. If I can figure out how to embed gifs and videos directly into a PDF I'm willing to do that, too. Digital extras like music or videos was always one of my goals for the zine. Physical versions may include links to these, I haven't worked out all the logistics yet. Anything that is particularly difficult to print will simply be excluded from the physical version, like how NSFW works will be excluded from the SFW version. Just like the NSFW thing, you can also submit a thumbnail and/or a summary for the physical versions. b. I put emphasis on this every time because I want to make absolutely sure no one misunderstands, but the full and uncensored version of the final zine will be available online for free. Any curated, printed versions will be a bonus, and if they cost any money at all it will only be a small fee to offset shipping costs, because I don't want price to be a barrier to getting a copy. The full version will never be behind a paywall and everyone will be able to access it. If I ever gatekeep the full version for anything short of a full authoritarian crackdown you all have my full permission to track me down and beat me. And then steal the PDF and put it back up so everyone can access it again, please.
