Dick enters the Teen Titans Tower's game room with a boy a few inches shorter than him, wearing a Wonder Woman shirt.

Dick: Kid Flasheroo!!! I'd like you to meet Little Wing, my brother, Jason.

Wally: OH MY GOSH, DICK!!!!! *drops the game console* YOU HAVE A BROTHER? AND YOU CALL HIM LITTLE WING????? That's so adorable!! That makes you Big Wing then?

Dick proudly smiles and brings Jason closer to him.

Wally: Aww. Hi, young man. I'm Wally, Dick's best friend. *he offers his hand and young Jason takes it*

Jason: Hi, Wally. *young Jason smiles brightly and Dick and Wally coo at him* Dick said you have a cool power. What is it?

Wally:*shows his powers by quickly (that doesn't even describe it) buying some pizzas* I got two kinds of pizzas cus I didn't know what you wanted, Little Wing.

Jason: *repeatedly blinks* WOAAAH. Sweet! Thank you, Wally.

Dick: Hey.... *playfully nudges Wally* I get to call him Little Wing. Hmmpf. *he points at his chest* Only. Me.

Wally: *salutes* Aye, aye, Captain. Of course, Robin-O. Your wish is my command. I need my spot in Teen Titans.

Dick: *rolls his eyes, smiling* I don't know what I'm gonna do without you in the group.

Dick and Wally don't even realize that Jason has started eating the pizzas.

Wally: WOAH. The kid is fast.

Dick: Watch out, Kid Flash. Little Wing is after your job.

after the three boys enjoy their pizzas, Wally cradles Dick on his arms while Dick cradles young Jason on his as they speed to the store to get some ice cream. and they go back to the Tower to play some games and read some books.

Tim

Wally: Genuis, hey! I know you're a genuis and all, but all you have to do is call me so I can let you in. *munches on some chips as he lays on the couch of his apartment* Don't do that Batman shit on me.

Dick: Guess what? I'm not the genuis one anymore. *smiling widely*

Wally: What you talking about? *about to stand up to get another bag of chips in the kitchen*

Dick: Presenting... *somersaults for dramatic effect* Tim, my brother.

A young boy with similar features with Dick and Jason, dark hair and blue eyes, enters the apartment.

Dick: Mostly known as Baby Bird. He figured out the code of your apartment and I didn't even tell him. How awesome, huh?

Wally is already beside Tim in less than a second.

Tim: Hi, Wally. *young Tim waves shyly* I know you. You're... *whispering* Kid Flash.

Dick: He figured mine and B's identities. Figured he knows yours too. *proudly says as he gently pats the top of Tim's hair*

Wally: MEGA AWESOME!!!! *he shakes Tim's hand* You're the new Genuis, huh. Can you tell me more secrets? Like what's Dick's favorite... No, wait. Second, no.. Hmmm. Sixth? *he counts with his fingers* Twelfth favorite place to visit? I've been trying to figure it out so I can take him there this year.

Tim: *looks at Dick* Hmm. I'm sure I'll figure it out with a few clues.

Wally: That's my man!! *he offers a high five and Tim tiptoes to hit Wally's palm*

Dick: *laughs* Hey, I'm right here.

they sit on Wally's couch as they enjoy some documentaries cus of course, Tim suggests it. Dick and Wally go along for the ride. Wally pleads for Dick to give a clue on his 12th favorite place in the entire world to visit.

Damian

Wally: Your cookies are still the very best I've had, Alfred. *says in between as he drowns his mouth for more cookies*

Alfred: *smiles as he cleans the kitchen at the Manor* Thank you, Mister West.

Ahem.

Damian: Excuse me. Aren't you supposed to be the new Flash?

Wally: OH MY GOSH!!! *he nearly jumps back from his seat and looks down at the small figure of a boy with a cat on his arms* Hi, little man. Yes, I am. I'm Wally. You are?

Damian: Tt. I thought you'd be able to quickly notice my approach. But when the stomach has a goal, you don't really pay much attention to your surroundings.

Wally: *opens his mouth and looks down at his stomach* Well, I'm always hungry.

Alfred: *warns from the kitchen* Master Damian.

Wally: Wait.. Damian?.... Aren't you Bruce's kid-

Dick: Dami! DAMI! *enters the kitchen and blinks at Wally then at Damian and then vice versa again* There you are, Dami. *approaches the two* Hey, Wally. Sorry to keep you waiting.

Wally: Hey, don't sweat on it, Dick. I can wait. Besides, I'm all comfortable here. *shoves another cookie on his mouth which earns a smile from Dick and a look of disgust from Damian*

Dick: Looks like you two have met already. Wally, this is Damian, my littlest brother. Dami, this is Wally, the Flash -

Damian: I know who he is. And don't use the word little on me, Grayson. *Dick and Wally watches Damian as he puts down the cat and grabs two cookies for himself* It's nice to meet you, West.

Wally: *looks at Damian's tiny hand and he thinks how much he wants to pinch his cheeks* Nice to meet you, Damian.

After Wally thanks Alfred for the cookies and pinches Damian's cheek gently, which earns a tt from the boy, he walks with Dick to his car parked outside of the Manor.

Wally: He has a few of Bruce's features. He's so cute!

Dick: Well, I'm lucky to have the cutest brothers.

Meanwhile in the kitchen.

Damian: Does Father know?

Alfred: About what, Master Damian?

Damian: About Grayson and West.

Alfred: He's a detective. I'm sure he knows.

Hi! Since I saw the illustrator wally series I've been exited to request this, it was also sad to see how nobody has yet come with this idea or at least I haven't seen anyone else bring this up so here I come!

It will be interesting how It would work a relationship between Human wally and reader who has maladaptive daydreaming along with autism, I thought of how would it be to meet someone who has to experience something familiar with you. ( since maladaptive daydreaming can be described as a variant of schizophrenia with some small differences ) anyways, I'm a desperate for representation-

ET TU, BRUTE? Omg I maladaptive daydream too (if I am reading it right and you mean to say that you do IT-). My therapist says that I am like, addicted to it lol. My family counselor also likened my case more towards depersonalization/dissociation/a variant of DID due to me only daydreaming myself as other people. This is actually the first time I have heard of it being described as a variant of schizophrenia, but it actually makes a lot of sense, now that I think about it! I need more representation too, so let's do this! I'll try to make it as broad as possible, because everyone daydreams about different things!

🖍️ He is a bit confused when he sees you pacing around your living room. He is visiting, and decided to try to surprise you by sneaking up behind you and giving you a gift! Now, though, he is a bit enamored by how you are prancing around, muttering little things to yourself as you seem so carefree and happy in your little world. This is the first time he has seen you like this.

🖍️ You finally end up turning around, in his direction, and your face grows a bit pale from shock and embarrassment. "Uh... Hello... I'm so glad you came to visit!" You try to play it off, but he is too intrigued. Maybe you are like him, and hallucinate, too?

🖍️ You explain what you were doing. You daydream... WAY more often than other people! Intense worldbuilding, character arcs, and more all take place in your head the majority of the day. You like to prance or pace, finding it helpful to feel more comfortable. You also tend to stim in other ways if you cannot pace or prance. The odd facial expressions and mutterings were just you getting in character and reacting to what was happening in your daydreams.

🖍️ Wally is intrigued. It is so... similar, but different, from him. Both you and him are autistic, yes. He's known that for a while, since you told him around the second or third meeting between you two. THIS, though, is so amazing to him. He wants to know more about the stories in your head!

🖍️What do they consist of? Are they horror? Romance? Action? Comedy? He wishes to know. Are you in them? Do you play someone else? Is it from a third person perspective, watching over your creations? If it is something child friendly, maybe you can write a book and he can illustrate it!

🖍️ Even if it is something more... dark, disturbing, overall NOT a kid friendly topic... he would still want to draw it! Maybe he can start to expand his illustrations into more adult books. He is shockingly good at drawing horror, you know. Some of his vent art is a really disturbing treat to view.

🖍️ You might get onto the topic of how both of your conditions are similar and different. You have a lot of characters floating around in your head. Different worlds, stories, everything! Wally does have, in a way, characters, too! The little voices in his head count, right? Sometimes the same one will pop up every now and again. Both of your conditions seem, in a way, uncontrolled. Due to Wally preferring to not use medications, he simply lives with the voices and hallucinations, going to therapy to help him cope and learn to live with it. You just go with the flow, in a way. As far as you've heard, the best and only way to help deal with it is therapy. No real medication or anything.

🖍️ You both are finally happy to find someone similar to yourselves. The best part is that it is similar enough to be familiar, but different enough to have such interesting conversations!

Yeah season 6 has been pretty good, and there are some worth while episodes to tune into to, but there are some you can skip outright (and i don’t mean it in the good way like how s1 and 2 are mostly episodic)

ok...so ik im gonna mostly be giving the stuff that ive bookmarked on ao3 (which isn't at all a comprehensive list, theres sooo much more that ive loved but I don't use my acc to read at all so I usually just free-ball it when trying to remember fics, and yes, its a habit I very much hate lol) and in fact, I wish I could mention them all here but I would be writing a novel if I spoke about each and every one of the so ur best bet is to just check that list out honestly 

and also, yeah its not a YJ fic, but I enjoy how it follows his comic characters run and builds on it. I find his characterisation in this fic rlly interesting and authentic (also Max being Native American there is everything, I actually have this whole theory/HC in YJ that Max is a Native American “God” (like the ancient greek/roman gods) i.e commonly known as Mercury, that just kinda roams about but is mostly in New Genesis (no idea where that thread/post is rn but I read someone connecting Lightray to Hermes/Mercury and since then that idea has been stuck in my head lol)) 

okay I have gone totally off track (im so sorry omg) im gonna try to keep it concise from here lol, anyway supper recc sunshine falling, the writing is gorgeous and the plot is rlly interesting!

okay, im obsessed with this series, the world building is INSANE, the first fic in the series is basically a YJA AU where failsafe actually happened (whole flashfam except jay dies, but YJA bart still makes it to that TL cause he actually ended up dimension hopping rather than time travelling, or smn like that). To keep it short, his characterisation here is AMAZING, I love it sm, the second fic, flash facts is one of my all time favourites (if u ask me its the only canon take of his interaction with the rogues, cause don't get me started on how foul his comics history with them is (and not in a gd way)) so personally, this series, particularly flash facts, is just fantastic. it also very much explores other YJ/DC characters, (Dick is the central figure in AFTO and bart appears relatively later on and when the YJ Invasion plot passes, the plot focuses alot on other characters, especially considering its largely about Dicks evolution).

For zetaflash, I mean it quite literally when I say I think ive read almost all the fics under the tag... we are very much at that stage in the fandom, so yeah lol, quite a few of my faves are in my bookmarks but I haven't updated it in a while

Sooner than later, a Wally and bart oneshot on their YJ bond, its quite sweet, ft spitfire

Waking up to Ash and Dust  its incomplete (just one chapter) and quite an old fic, its also been super long since I last read it so I can't remember it clearly, gotta give it a reread but I remember it being a rlly interesting take on things so it stuck with me, basically an outsider POV of bart with OCs

Warning: this list is massively biased. I (kinda jokingly) rag on every ‘Awful’ tier rival, so if you don’t want to here that, feel free to skip that explanation. I am pretty harsh with Marnie, I know a lot of people like her, so if you do like her PLEASE don’t read her section because I do not want to upset anyone. 

Also, I do ramble a bit how I like SWSH but they are my personal least favourite games (which is a hot take, I know), so if that would upset you please skip. Take care of yourselves <33

*if N was on this list he would fall under “Amazing”. Breath-taking story, breath-taking development, great theme songs, awesome character, fantastic team.

Why Blue is in S rank (very long explanation compared to the rest)

You cannot tell me Blue (or Green, or Gary, whatever you want to call the main Kanto rival) isn’t THE BEST RIVAL EVER. They got it SO RIGHT. He inspires hatred, AND sympathy. Literally, his grandad, the only living relative aside from his sister we even know about, loves you (the player) more than him and it’s kind of sad. 

Blue is great, he has a crappy pronunciation of ‘Bonjour’ (see Pokémon Masters), he says ‘smell ya later!’ he has class, swag, and is by no doubt the most challenging rival character. He is the only rival I never swept on a normal run. He is always demeaning you; he is always one step ahead all the way up until the champion battle where you finally beat him. AND HIS CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT OMG.

He still is arrogant and prideful, but respects people and wants to guide people to be better at Pokémon battling and thrives when he sees others succeeding - he doesn’t mind being ‘a former champion’. HECK HE’S SO COOL AND AMAZING. 

Also he has the best champion theme and encounter theme ever. Yes, he was a previous F/O so I am super biased; but so were 3 others on this list. 

Silver and Gladion

These two were my F/Os when I was much younger (around 12). They are great rivals with great development and story arcs. Plus, they have bopper encounter themes and battle themes. Gladion was my real introduction to the oc x canon community and inspired me to take drawing on as a hobby (as well as Lillie but I did not end up drawing her as much). 

Brendan, Cheren, Hugh, and Barry

When I was 10 playing Omega Ruby, I liked Brendan a lot (so... another past F/O... he’s the final one though). I dunno, he genuinely had a good friendship with that extra spice of rivalry with our character, May. I do not like friendly rivals (if my listing wasn’t obvious), but Brendan did it right. There was a lot of touching scenes with him and May *cough*cough* Delta Chapter *cough*cough* which really made me connect with him when I was 10. Now, Brendan and May are interchangeable depending on which one of them you pick to play as, so why have I ranked Bredan far above May? Better encounter and battle theme (yes, they have different instrumentation) and he gets the childhood crush pass.

Cheren is cool, I just really like his character and his attempts to create a good strategy. He is really dedicated to what he loves and becomes a gym leader (like BLUE DID. Blue has it all, really). Plus, glasses are cute :) (he is the same age as me, I can legally say that even though that was an obvious nod to Byakuya but you never know what people will take out of context). 

Hugh is cool becomes he somewhat feels like an asshole rival, but at the same time, has a really soft side. Like, his whole motivation to be a good trainer is to save his sister’s Purrloin that was stolen by Team Plasma. He is a hero y’all. Also GREAT encounter and battle theme; huge thumbs up. 

Barry! My man! Overall, cool rival with a great team. He is the second hardest rival to me (but Blue is harder than him by a landslide still). He is really funny in both the games and the anime and despite being a bit more friendly, he still sparks a lot of rivalry with you. Plus, his dad is battle frontier brain Palmer! How awesome! He was also my first rival, so that’s something special to me too. 

Average Tier

I like Hau as a character, he feels like a genuine friend and how he develops with the main character and Lillie is really wholesome. It’s just - I dislike him as a rival, a lot. Easy fights, not the best encounter theme... just kind of there. I get why people consider Gladion as ‘the true rival’ of S and M because he really is. Hau is also a rival that chooses the starter WEAK to your starter like the gen 6 rivals (who I hate with my entire being). 

Wally had a bad-ass final battle theme song and moment. That’s literally the only reason he makes the average tier. If this was a ranking disregarding ORAS he is easily down in the ‘Awful’ tier. 

I like Pokémon Sword and Shield... except I just don’t like them as much as every other game (yes. I did play Pokémon Yellow and enjoyed it more, thank you). I know you all HATE that, but that is just my opinion - I think I have earned the right to say that after my almost 12 years of playing these games and being a VGC player for a few years. It has good characters and some cool Pokémon and yeah... gameplay? Lacklustre. I really do not know what went wrong outside of story. Somehow the competitive battle scene is not the fun it used to be. Dynamax bugs me, the lack of megas bugs me, the dex cut REALLY bugs me. I know I am not the only one who thought this game lacked the charm other Pokemon games have. Graphically though, it’s very nice for the most part.

I have gone way off-topic, but anyway, yeah. SWSH rivals make average because I like their characters (especially Hop’s development). Outside of that, not the best rivals.

May is cool for a lot of the reasons I discussed with Brendan.

Lacking Tier

I like Bianca’s whole deal with her dad and how Elesa has a nice moment to shine too - and that’s it. I know the whole theme of her team is friendship but I die inside every time I watch a Chandelure uses RETURN. It was cool she returned in BW2 I guess? I like how her battle theme matches her personality, but it isn’t anything to write home about. 

I like Calem a bit more than Serena but I do not want to pull another Brendan and May (even though I had some good reason to do that) and I’m going to put them here. Bad teams and not memorable in the slightest, Calem and Serena belong in this tier. 

Awful Tier

X and Y rivals amirite??? They just suck. They are annoying and they suck. They have 3 Pokémon in all final fights, really? At least Shauna is likeable in the anime. 

I hate Trace. But, he has one funny memory I have with my dad that makes him slightly better. We both named him ‘Blue’ since Blue is the actual Kanto rival, but then Blue showed up in LGPE... And then the two ‘Blues’ talked to each other and it was mildly amusing at the time. Anyway, he didn’t deserve Blue’s champion theme (which is even used for Blue in later games outside of his champion battle (BW2), THAT IS NOT TRACE’S THEME. Anyway, he is the gross friendly rival that attempted to fulfil the best rival’s shoes. Sorry Trace, bad luck my dude. 

I just never attached to Marnie I suppose, but I can understand that she is important to those who are invested in her. I am about to fully rag on Marnie, so please skip if that makes you upset. 

 I am going to hurt a lot of people when I said I never liked Marnie. She was always just... like why do people like her so much?? I feel like most people like her because she is ‘funny haha goth gf’ which, fair I suppose. I just think she is super lacking as a rival, she makes no real impression as an actual character, and I think if you removed her from the game it wouldn’t make a difference. Don’t want to be that guy, but I AM that guy right now. I suppose she has a cute design?? and that’s it. Again, I am really biased when it comes to SWSH and rivals, so I suppose she really got the short end of the stick with me.

“Damn, you look amazing, y/n.” Wally couldn’t contain his excitement as you stepped into the bridge of the Waverider, where he was waiting for the rest of the Legends to get changed into their disguises. The team was crashing a wedding, and everyone was getting dressed into the appropriate attire. He had already seen you in the outfit before, at Barry and Iris’ wedding, yet you somehow looked even more stunning than you did before, which he thought was impossible. He nervously straightened his tie as he flashed you a shy smile, bashfully adding, “I mean, you looked amazing when you wore it before, it’s just-

“Thank you, Wally” you interrupted, flashing him a knowing smile as you saved him from his flustered rambling, and he smiled at you gratefully. You smoothed out the top of your outfit, trying to ignore the warm flush you could feel creeping up your cheeks. Despite having dated for a while, you still felt giddy around Wally at times, as if you were still in the early stages of a crush. Wally took a small step towards you before looping his arm around your waist, pulling you closer to him as he pressed a quick kiss on your lips. Running your hands over his chest, you added, “You look pretty good yourself.” 

Wally chuckled as you leaned in to kiss him again, and he pressed you up against the main console, his hands running up your waist as you pulled him closer. Your hands caressed his face before you wrapped your arms around him, closing any residual distance left between your bodies. 

“Okay, lovebirds, tone it down.” Sara teased, announcing her presence as she walked into the bridge. You and Wally were quick to break apart, still feeling the embarrassment despite the fact that this wasn’t the first time one of the Legends had walked in on the two of you in the middle of a make out session. Shooting you a playful grin, Sara continued, “As cute as the two of you are, this isn’t your wedding we’re going to – remember to stay focused on the mission.” 

You rolled your eyes good-naturedly as beside you, Wally’s eyes suddenly brightened as a thought crossed his mind. It was a crazy idea, a completely spontaneous one and a possibly stupid one, but it made sense, more than anything in this entire world, and Wally couldn’t help but wonder why he hadn’t come up with it earlier. 

“I mean,” Wally suddenly cleared his throat, and you looked at him quizzically as he shrugged and smiled shyly at you. You were the love of his life, and no matter how much his life had been turned upside down, that truth remained constant. “Speaking of weddings… would you… will you marry me, y/n?”

I ship Azurim (Azure x Tim) because, really, Azure loves Tim, she does. It’s a matter of ‘would Tim love her back?’ and ‘would they work together?’ in which the answer is; yes, yes he will love her back and yes they would work together incredible well.

I know that Azure is more of a calm, non-violent person. She is innocent, and she needs to be protected, that’s a fact. But she’s also emotional and even shouting would make her upset. I feel like out of all the boys, Tim would suit her most because he isn’t known for being violent or being really angry. Therefore he suits her emotionally. I also know Tim would die trying to protect Azure, but I guess all the boys will too.

Then there’s the fact that they have common ground. They stay up late, they’re both smart and witty and I’m sure Azure would love to help Tim with any cases. He understands her, especially with her condition and her awkward nature because he himself can relate in some way. He knows what it’s like to need to prove himself, to second-guess and honestly, just to be lonely as well. Due to that mutual understanding, I feel that they could create a quick connection, even if Azure is quite awkward and clumsy, but Tim would never be one to laugh at her or rub it in her face. I see him helping her and honestly thinking it’s more cute than annoying or anything.

Azure is a very kind person who will encourage you no matter what. Even though she may be down or in a dark place, she’s willing to push forward and do anything to help her friends, I’ve experienced it myself. This would suit Tim because she would constantly remind him to love himself. Tim, in return, would do the same to her when she’s vulnerable. There’s additionally the fact that Tim seem a more simple and down-to-earth type, which I think is more of Azure’s kind of style. She wouldn’t want anything fancy, just something small but meaningful and Tim, being Tim, would put all his effort to think of clever ways to give their dates more symbolism almost.

I admit, they won’t be the perfect couple. Tim is a workaholic and I imagine times when he would neglect Azure, and she would take it badly because she’s insecure, that’s who she is. But I know Tim will quickly realize his mistake and try to make it up to her, no matter how long it takes. He will go the extra mile for her, and he will devote himself to her because he’s in love with her, it’s as simple as that.

Just, in terms of personality and stability, I feel like Tim would suit Azure best. They not only seem cute together, but when you look further into it, they are a perfect match. They have understanding, and with understanding comes trust and communication and support and all the necessary elements of a healthy relationship.

I ship Waylor (Wally x Taylor) because, like Azure, Taylor loves Wally. She absolutely adores him so I basically analyzed what their relationship would be like and if they would actually work, and I’m certain they do.

First of all, Wally is a fast-paced guy, literally. Let’s keep that in mind (I’m thinking of YJ Wally here btw) I feel like when they meet, Wally would initially flirt with her for fun and of course, Taylor would be flustered, but knowing Taylor and the extraordinary person she is, she would probably see the real him. Not the flirtatious person he shows her, but rather, the intelligent, loyal young man who will honestly give his life for the world. 

And Wally, of course, would be amazed by her kindness and compassion. She may not have the amount of flare Artemis has, but Taylor does have a fire to her that you can only see properly once you get to know her. She’s outgoing, funny, and overall an admirable person. I believe that when Wally discovers the person she really is, he would be shocked and blown away by just how awesome this girl really is. So basically, it would take a while for them to establish a foundation.

I see Taylor as the kind of person who will always praise Wally no matter what, which of course is something he likes. She’s very encouraging and I imagine her just praising his speed and intelligence as a whole which of course would make him flustered. As for Wally, Taylor is also quite insecure so I see him just listing what he loves about her. I don’t think he would ever get sick of saying how much he loves her, that’s the way I imagine Wally is, and since Taylor can have a constant reminder of his love, it works perfectly for the both of them. 

It’s a well-known fact that Taylor loves aquariums, and I see Wally taking her out on a date to the aquarium. As I told her, he would be amazed by her passion and would trip over his own feet at her beauty. Like Azure, I think Taylor as more of a simple person but unlike Tim, I don’t think Wally would be as elaborate with his dates. I feel like he would just surprise with simple things; a dinner, a gift, visiting her unannounced etc. I imagine Taylor would love that.

I hope I provided a decent-enough explanation for this ship. I feel like it’s not good as my Azurim explanation because I actually write about Tim so I know him better than I know Wally XD Anyway, like Azure and Tim, Wally and Taylor would have understanding, which is essential for all relationships, but I feel like they would have to slowly get to know the real person they are first. After overcoming that and breaking down each other’s walls, they would reach an understanding.

Fics I want to write but probably never will: Artemis nerds out about archery for five hours and ends up with a protege.

(under a cut because it’s kind of long?)

Literally it starts with some newer heroes, having heard of how amazing Artemis is with a bow, asking her to do some trick shots

And by now it’s kind of a known thing that a) Artemis is amazing, and b) you don’t ask Artemis to do unbelievable movie archery bullshit because she will explain in great detail just why physics means that sort of thing is not what you want to use in real battle

These newbies though, they are brave souls. They also haven’t sat through ‘Arrow Physics in Freezing Rain' lectures before.

Newer hero 1: ‘Wow, it’s Artemis. The real Artemis. Did you know that once she -’

Newer hero 2: ‘DON’T SAY IT’

Newer hero 1: *says it anyway*

Artemis is all 'look, the LoTR movies are no basis for actual archery the trick shots the elves do look really cool but it’s not your standard battle archery' *out comes the archery power-point*

Most of the newbies get bored and find excuses or just outright leave

One stays though and is all starry eyed and 'teach me more' at the end of it

Somehow Artemis has protege? She never wanted a protege. She just got back from punching the speedforce in its non-existent face and bringing Wally home

She doesn't have time for a protege

But the puppy dog eyes are powerful

Artemis is a sucker for puppy dog eyes. Especially, it turns out, if the person the eyes are attached to is also a budding archery nerd

Artemis accepts because how can she refuse such puppy dog eyes? But she goes home and freaks the fuck out

'Wally what do I do? I don't think I can handle the responsibility. I can't have a kid.'

'Aw Artemis it'll be WAIT WHAT?!'

'The fuck Wally, not THAT sort of kid'

'JFC Artemis you scared me there'

'No Wally it’s just that I think I have a protege now?'

'Omg. Tell me everything so I can tease you properly'

And for a little while, mainly while Wally's still recovering from returning from the speedforce because even he can't just walk away from that sort of thing like it's just a skinned knee, this rookie thinks they've simply gained a mentor

Little did they realize that Artemis and Wally? They're a team.

So for a little while it's just Artemis and Rookie

But then Wally returns and it becomes Artemis and Rookie and sometimes Wally too

And it takes some adjusting at first because 'Wally, seriously, we have this' 'I know you do babe, I just love watching you kick ass'

Anyway, in reality it takes like a month, but to Rookie it seems like they blinked and they've been almost-but-not-actually-adopted by Wally

And Wally has just been waiting. Just waiting. To unleash all sorts of terrible dad jokes.

Artemis can't decide what's worse. that wally's making them, or that Rookie thinks the jokes are actually funny

They don't literally adopt Rookie because that is Batman's thing

Neither Artemis nor Wally want to become Batman

But somehow they end up as Rookie's unofficial second mom and dad

(Much later, if Artemis and Wally decide to have kids, Rookie tells them that they did just fine raising their 'first' kid, so they shouldn't worry so much.)

It kind of just dawns on Artemis one day that they've kind of but not actually, not in the legal sense, adopted Rookie without asking if Rookie wanted any such thing?

And she says something about it to Wally and he freaks out a little

Wally calls Dick in a panic because 'omg, dude, Artemis just pointed out that she and I have all but adopted someone else's kid? What do I do? Hello? Dick? DICK ARE YOU LAUGHING AT ME?'

Dick thinks it's hilarious

Dick also quietly checks up on Rookie - either doing this himself or getting one of the other batkids to do it - because a) Wally is definitely panicking over it, and b) going straight to the source would give him the best read of the situation

And it's not as serious as Wally's reaction makes it out to be. (Artemis panicked for like, two seconds, but then figured 'okay but if it bothered Rookie they'd've said something? Okay. Okay not going to deal with this right now. TIME TO BEAT UP SOME BAD GUYS AND NOT THINK ABOUT THIS.')

After talking it out everyone calms down and everything's cool

Except every now and then Dick will turn up and be all 'Adopted any more kids today Wally?'

Wally has never wanted to strangle his best friend more

'Dick why're you such a dick?' 'Gotta live up to my name' '*squinty eyes* That was terrible' 'I know'

Of all the people that everyone expected to act even a little bit like Batman, no one expected Wally Rudolph West to adopt kids like him

In retrospect it shouldn't have been a surprise. Wally's a speedster. Ninety-five percent of Wests and Allens are people persons.

In retrospect what no one understands is how Wally limited himself to adopting only one child

Before that, though, everyone gives Wally (not Artemis, never Artemis, because surely it was all Wally's idea (it was actually a joint effort but no one thinks to ask and Artemis doesn't correct them)) some good-natured grief over the whole thing

'You can't just go around adopting other people's kids, Wally' 'Superboy got to keep Wolf!' 'That is not the same and you know it!' (Down the hallway in another room: 'Don't listen to them Wolf')
