I like to think they love how vain each other is. Flashwing is only enamoured by her own Beauty whereas Dark Spyro is trying to cover up his insecurities with over confidence, but Flashwings insistence leads him to grow the same authentic Vanity that she has- Unlike the real Spyro, Dark Spyro's confidence and certainty is authentic because of her own self absorbed attitude.

While others may look down on them for being so obnoxiously full of themselves, they each see it as a positive thing - admittedly the attraction comes from that selfish side of each other, which only adds to their strength in love.
