Friendship should mean something
I would hope that if I was being raped or otherwise assaulted, my friend would not stand by and argue with my attacker. But call the police and claw their eyes or shoot him dead. I hope they would not leave me to my attacker's sadistic pleasure if I somehow hurt their feelings in the situation. I would hope my safety would matter to them even if we had already broken up and they would help me because of the friendship we once had.

Salieri’s whole childhood experience of being orphaned while prior having not so good relationship with his father, and then pretty much tutoring every willing person free of charge and leading charity concerts for any category of people makes him so admirable honestly
Man looked at his past experiences and said ‘no one’s having same shit on my watch’ and high key parented almost everyone he met or tutored in his life
I feel like no matter what class or amount of fucked up spirit origin Salieri always will prioritize children or teens be it humans or other servants. Even if it’s child like servants with adult minds he still acts on his parenting instinct without being insulting to other party (and they probably don’t even notice it until much later).
If anything even happens man will BEND his own already fucked up and extremely unstable spirit origin and even maybe overcome his own Innocent Monster/Man in Gray aspect to PROTECC and ATACC if it means young ones will be save
Salieri really be thinking he’s not that good of an any positive image of a mentor or god forbid parental/family figure and then the rest are like ‘you’re literally a perfect parent figure what the actual fuck sir—‘

I don't know how to ask this, but, like, I like reading Marauders content but sometimes I read some stuff about them that makes me think I'm a bad person for that. Like. They were bullies. So, isn't horrible that I like them anyways? How can I? Don't I think bullying is bad? Am I making light of how bad bullying is? I wanted to ask you what you think. Like, do you ever get affected by these feelings. Do you ever get affected by how other people see these characters. Do you ever get affected by people implying you are a bad person if you like character X?
Snape says they were bullies. Snape doesn’t tell us that far from being a harmless little loner, he was in fact hanging around with Mulciber and other mini wannabe Death Eaters (Sirius tells us). This gang bullied muggleborn Wix and called them slurs like mudbloods (Lily tells us), and we’re also involved in using dark magic against other students (Lily tells us Snape’s mates did this to Mary). Snape tries to pretend it was no big deal (it was a joke, he says) but Lily angrily disagrees. Snape used dangerous curses like Sectumsempra against people he hated eg James Potter, which btw he invented himself.
James used Levicorpus against Snape which btw was a curse that Snape had himself invented. James wasn’t happy that Snape was salivating with glee at the thought of discovering and proving Remus was a werewolf. Lily wasn’t happy either. Despite their rivalry, James saved Snape’s life when Snape made the dangerous and frankly terrible decision to follow Remus past the Whomping Willow on a full moon (yes Sirius was wrong to tell him but that still doesn’t make it his fault that Snape consciously/deliberately put himself in mortal danger to out one of his classmates because he hated them).
During 7th Year, when James had deflated his head a bit and was mature enough to be named head boy, Remus tells us this:
‘She started going out with him in seventh year,’ said Lupin.
‘Once James had deflated his head a bit,’ said Sirius.
‘And stopped hexing people just for the fun of it,’ said Lupin.
‘Even Snape?’ said Harry.
‘Well,’ said Lupin slowly, ‘Snape was a special case. I mean, he never lost an opportunity to curse James so you couldn’t really expect James to take that lying down, could you?’
Well, tbf, no, you couldn’t.
So you see, as far as I’m concerned, there were two gangs who were fighting a bit like the golden trio and Draco’s mates, and Snape was just as mean to James as the other way around?
But at least the marauders were fighting blood purist, racist, bigoted little shits who clearly made it known to everyone that they were planning on joining a murderous fascist- dictator type whose forces terrorised a minority group and were at war with innocent people (1970s Wix UK).
So the marauders went out of their way to antagonise these feckers (who clearly did the exact same thing to them). And? I’m not even sure that counts as bullying. It’s not very mature, and I’d prefer if they didn’t, but if my child went out of their way to antagonise bigoted eejits I’m not sure I’d be especially unhappy about it? I might even secretly be quite proud? 🤷♀️

Just had an angsty Near hc pop into my head because what if,,,,,w h a t if Near didn't know his own name?
Like, what if, before the Kira case, he had no damn idea what his real name was? We have no idea when he was dropped off at Wammy's, but we can assume it was pretty young, and we all know about the Wammy tendency to yeet their residents' pasts into the fuckin' dumpster so they can't look back—plus you know, the general nature of orphanages. It's unlikely that Near was just dropped off on a doorstep with his birth certificate in his tiny lil baby hands (though that is a possibility I suppose) bUT COULD YOU IMAGINE.
Near not fearing Kira because he doesn't even have record of his own name, so without that secondary power, how is Kira going to find it? He mentioned destroying any evidence of Mello's name or face, but said nothing about doing the same for himself...
Can you imagine if the first time Near ever saw his given name was when it was written in a notebook meant to kill him?

Duke Reminder for when you get back from your run or whatever you’re doing (probably actually running but idk 🤷♂️)
Im sorry friend this is so late, it got buried in my ask and I forgot.
I've obviously lost most of the energy of the rant but I'll sum it up with: Duke's origin with the We Are Robin (WAR) movement marked DC doing something different with the Robin title. These weren't specially picked Chosen Ones. These are kids of Gotham trying to take back the city, being inspired by the heroes to do what they can to spread their own light in the darkness.
Duke being a leader of that movement, having met Batman early on (Zero Year) and making his own way apart of but still adjacent to the Batfam. In my mind, Duke would be like cousin Kate, in that he's absolutely a Bat, but he's not like beholden to Bruce and he kinda does his own thing. The idea of the WAR being almost like Baker Street Irregulars, like street level heroes to do good and if it gets too big, you call in the OG Bats. This is the perfect space for characters like Harper/Cullen Row, Maps Mizoguchi etc to fit in. They could have their own separate stories that occasionally link up with the Bats.
Duke is serving as a leader/Oracle like figure watching out for and organizing the Robins. When Bruce realizes he can't stop Duke or the others, he ropes Duke in and gives him equipment, training and generally helps the kids. Because Bruce is looking to the future, the future he won't always be able to save but if he can save these kids and empower them... then they can save themselves and Gotham. So Duke is a Bat, no questions. Its a joke amongst the WAR that Duke knows the Bats personally, sees them outside of costume. He and Jason vibe really well and Dami respects him for the good hard work he's doing.
Idk, I like Duke as a character but I will admit it eats at me that this kind of exciting, bold, progressive new character was kind of tosses aside for the same old 'nice kid, dead/unavailable parents, becomes Bruce's ward, slap him in a costume and fight crime'. It doesn't matter that oh! He's dayshift or Oh! He has powers!!! It's still the same formula. I love making jokes about Bruce's revolving door of kids but at some point it's gotta stop. Duke being his own dude, alongside the Bats making real change in Gotham. God that would have been So interesting guys and I'll forever be upset about it.
