Michael is very very distressed when Vanessa goes missing, and searches for her everywhere- but to no avail. She left no note, not even a clue as to where she went, and Michael is terrified for her safety.

Later on, about a year later- gregory starts acting... off. Michael sometimes swears some of his new behavior reminds him of William, but he does his best to brush it off as just being related to William. The whole 'doctor rab' thing is both cute and concerning.

Then gregory goes missing too.

It was the same thing as Vanessa- starting to act weird then disappearing with hardly a trace.

Michael searches and searches, his mental and thus physical health deteriorating. Sammy has to watch his friend crumble after losing two children, doing his best to support Michael- but Michael keeps pushing him away, insisting he's fine, he just needs to keep looking.

Henry does his best to help too, babysitting Cassie and even coming around to help with Michaels restaurant. It breaks his heart when Cassie asks, in tears, "Why does daddy not pay attention to me anymore?"

It doesn't help that Michael had once asked him the exact same thing.

A year, almost two years later- Michael finally finds a distress call from no one other than gregory, not long after the Pizzaplex had partially collapsed and become abandoned.

Michael went looking, completely unaware of his youngest daughter following after him.

The one where Dick is secretly Kryptonian

So anyways like imagine a young justice post-season 2 AU fic where everyone’s still all pissy with nightwing bc they can’t get over the fact that he and Kaldur didn’t tell anyone abt Kaldur’s deep cover op to infiltrate the light. Like despite the fact that it’s opsec 101 to not fucking tell a bunch of people abt ur deep cover agent who’s getting all ur intel to literally stop an invasion. Anyway.

Dick is secretly Kryptonian. Like has never told anyone. Has a suppression bracelet that stops him from developing powers like Superman. He’s the first son of Jor-El and Lara, was five years old when Krypton was destroyed, and his pod got trapped in the phantom zone for 20 years before he crash landed on earth, terrified and confused out of his mind because he couldn’t find his baby brother’s pod anywhere.

The Graysons eventually find him, his pod having crashed near a stop for Haley’s Circus. They take him in, raise him as their son, and then they die in Gotham three years later. He’s taken in by Bruce and becomes Robin when he’s 8. He has since seen Superman on newspapers and TV, and he realizes his baby brother grew up without him. He can’t tell him who he really is now, convinced he’ll just be a burden, that he’ll ruin his brother’s happy life with all his bad luck (because everyone around him seems to die, and he’s starting to think maybe he’s a curse).

ANYWAY skip to the end of season 2 and most people are being cold towards Nightwing. He’s distanced himself from them all for a couple months now, isolating himself in a safe house in Blüdhaven. Even Bruce seems to disappointed in the way he handled the invasion, and he can’t stand to see him disappointed.

Nightwing is only on the Watchtower because he was called in for an all hands on deck situation. The mission is over, he’s tired, he’s exhausted, he’s half-starved because he’s surviving off money from odd jobs that pay under the table and a crappy job at a dive bar, and he’s hiding in the back of a meeting room to wait for the debrief to start. He can hear others around him muttering about him, and he tries to ignore them, focusing on watching the stars outside the window.

And now cue Supergirl entering. She’s been operating with Superman pretty much the whole time, her pod having been delayed in the phantom zone not nearly as long as Dick’s was so she actually got to grow up somewhat the same age as Superman. Dick has never been in the same room as Kara, not since they were both children on Krypton.

And Kara instantly zones in on him, and even behind the mask, she knows exactly who he is. She whispers his Kryptonian name at first, not believing it’s really him. (What’s his Kryptonian name exactly? No idea. Kod-El [sticks with the K names, kinda looks like Kody] or maybe Rah-El [it’s how the Graysons got the name Richard?] idk)

And Nightwing just freezes. He doesn’t know what to do. Doesn’t know how to react. He tried to pretend it’s not happening, but Kara is relentless and rushes to him and holds his face in her hands and asks a million questions about how he’s here and where he’s been and how is he still so young, what happened?

And something inside Dick just snaps. Because all of the grief and loneliness and fear just overflows in him, and he breaks down while Kara holds him and whispers to him that everything is okay, but nothing is okay and everything is wrong and no one was ever supposed to know and now everyone will just be so much more angry with him.

He’s afraid no one will trust him now. That his friends won’t look at him the same. That Kal will hate him for never telling him the truth about being his brother. That Bruce won’t want him anymore, won’t want an alien for a son. That he’ll lose everyone and everything all over again.

Idk I just like when Dick falls apart under all the pressure and everyone realizes they need to help him get out back together again. And also that it’s mostly all their fault he fell apart in the first place because Dick has never done anything wrong in his life ever.

So this AU came to me in a dream and I woke up with actual tears so — here we go. 

In the deepest chunks of my cold, dead heart, I believe that even if Ice married Sarah, he still always loved Mav. There were just so many reasons why they couldn't work out long-term: Ice wanted to advance, Mav didn't want to hold him back, the danger of being a gay couple in the ‘80s and ‘90s — let alone in the Navy. 

It just couldn't work out for them. They were trying to protect each other and that meant sacrifices on both ends.

But it doesn't mean they ever stopped loving each other, Ice’s love was shown in saving Mav’s ass time after time, and Mav’s was in being there — always, no matter what Ice needed. 

Mav was there when all three of Ice’s kids were born, his two daughters and his youngest: Tom Kazansky Jr. 

Junior, who only looks more like his namesake with every year that passes. 

Eventually Mav gets shipped to China Lake so he doesn't have to get a front-row seat to Ice dying right in front of them (Ice’s decision of course).

The Mission rolls around, and lo and behold: a Tom Kazansky will always appear to Mav in his time of need. 

But instead of a text — it’s in the form of Junior, a vision of 27-year-old Tom Kazansky, complete with moles and his big ass teeth. 

“Apparently, we’ve got a mission, Maverick.”

Imagine the complete agony of a world where Mav never gets to have the life he deserves with the man he loves, and not only that, but he's surrounded by the living specters of the two men he loved most and lost. 

A world in which he gets to keep a piece of Goose and Ice, but only as a reminder that the Bradshaw and Kazansky on his wings will never be the ones he wants.

Or the flip side, where Mav is the only piece of their fathers that both boys have left and there gets to be a Kazansky-Bradshaw-Mitchell trio in the sky again.

he takes everyone’s temperature to establish a baseline so that they know what a too high or low temperature for them is

he has medical notes on everyone in the flock to keep track of any issues they have

he researches a lot about hybrids and anything else at all related so that he can take care of his family cuz who the fuck else is going to do it. not a fucking doctor that’s for sure, because yk. doctors offices bring up a lot of bad shit for them

while jeb was raising them all, he wrote down any and all information given to them by jeb about their biology (in the fourth book, max says they need about 5000 calories a day when it’s warm, which i hc as either something jeb told them or something that iggy found out through measuring how much he ate in a day or whatever)

like i’m just imagining him as a twelve year old or something, sitting at a desk & calculating averages of calories consumed per day to establish a baseline, muttering to himself about the numbers or whatever and the rest of the flock just being like. okay whatever nerd (lovingly of course)

i also like to think about his relationship with jeb in regards to this. maybe he was constantly asking jeb questions about their biology when they were being raised by him at the e house. maybe they talked about how flight works a lot. maybe they bonded over their love for weird hybrid biology. maybe he felt disgusted by himself for ever loving jeb like a dad when it turns out that he was a bad guy the whole time

Seen a lot of people suggesting people make their OCs in the Sims instead of using AI (valid and I agree) but I would also like to suggest to people who don't know where to start making an OC: MAKE A SIM AND THEN GET REALLY INTO THEIR STORY!!

Most of my sims are basically OCs at this point bc I think about them in the same way. Obviously it being a game affects my ability to fully play out the story how I want but it also makes it way easier when I don't have the energy for full worldbuilding or unprompted development. Also I love decorating their houses and dressing them up and it's a great way to practice environmental storytelling.

Basically against the odds (basegame kinda sucking and the game being super buggy) I LOVE MY SIMS SM.

Is there anything that you wanted to include in your stories but didn’t get around to doing? Or just couldn’t figure out a way to fit in?

I really wanted to do So Much More with Tim and Jason's reconciliation/ Jason's reconciliation with the rest of the Bats in Wanted, but I just really didn't have the space in the plot ;-; I also wanted to do more with Dick's story- after the Lori chapter, he just kind of faded into the background. Obviously there was a lot of emphasis in the latter half of the fic regarding Danny, Tim, and Damian, and their relationships with each other. Like I love jason's relationship with sam and tuck in Wanted, and in order to make the plot work the smoothest, I couldn't have Jay interacting with the bats so much after i made that trio a thing. but that meant i didn't get to do everything i imagined.

As far as better halves goes- i'm still writing it, so I still have time to do everything I want with it ^^ but i'm sure sacrifices will have to be made for the Plot

2024 fic rec list :)

So here's a list of fics/authors that I read in 2024! A lot of them are Batman-related, and Jason-centered :P

Six Degrees of Separation by @oliocelottafanfics. It's a Criminal Minds crossover with Batman, where Penelope Garcia is the one to find Jason after his resurrection and adopts him. This is one of those fics where I didn't know I needed it until I saw it, and now it's stuck in my brain.

The Right Substitution is Key by Addicted Apple. A fun what-if story where Batman and Nightwing go missing, so Robin recruits Red Hood to fill in as Batman while completely oblivious to the fact that Red Hood is Jason Todd.

Five Reactions to Pepper's New PA by @gladdecease. Short, but Bucky ends up becoming Pepper Potts' personal assistant. It's very funny and wholesome.

@cdelphiki's Three Terrors Cinematic Universe is a top fic that many probably already know. Talia tried to escape the League with Jason, Damian, Anathasia, and Mara al Ghul. She didn't make it, leaving Jason to be the one to protect them.

Along with that is cdelphiki's The Time Before. Jason got sent back to the past by Black Mask, who wanted to kill him before he became Red Hood. Jason goes to Bruce for help and ends up healing and learning more about Bruce.

A League of Her Own by @comebackolivia. Immediately after the UtRH, Talia finds Jason in the rubble, kills to Joker, and takes him back to the League, where they try to take over and rebuild it with Nyssa. Jason becomes one of her generals. You might recognize them for their work on Not-So-Outlaw :)

VermillionFlame is another more recent author that has been working on Arkhamverse Jason. For Want of a Savior and Hold Fast (Don't Let Go) are two of my favorites.

For Want of a Savior has comic Jason wind up in Arkhamverse, and saves AK!Jason. He then helps him heal and the Batfam is in a panic after realizing Jason may be alive.

Hold Fast (Don't Let Go) is another AU where Jason shot Deathstroke while working on his revenge plan that would be seen in Arkham Knight. He then shows up at Wayne Manor for protection, throwing the family's peace into chaos as so many things come to light and people butt heads.

Echoes of Future Past by orangesky37 on AO3/ @kindlingkeen. Immediately after Jason's throat got slit in UtRH comic, he gets yeeted back to the past and is found by authorities. James Gordon brings Batman onto the case, not realizing Batman is Bruce Wayne. He gets protective of Jason when he tells Gordon that 'his dad did it.'

Going Down Like the Titanic by @sunnylighter A shortish Arkhamverse AU where Joker succeeds in getting Bruce to succumb to the Titan virus by showing Jason still alive in Arkham Asylum.

Bruce Wayne Must Die by @reginalusus. Jason wants to kill Bruce, only to find out that he's missing. He teams up with Harvey Dent to find him, and there's father-son bonding vibes between Harvey and Jason.

Do Unto Others by @romiress. Arkhamverse again (listen, I'm a sucker for that storyline when it comes to Jason. It's maximum angst potential). Khalid Nassour (Doctor Fate in DC comics) worked at Arkham Asylum under the payroll of Joker, albeit reluctantly. He was brought on to fix up Jason, and eventually he sneaks him out to help him heal.

Don't Let Them See You Cry by @daisyapples. Oh my god, you guys. Let me tell you. This series is vibrates in my brain to an insane degree. Shortly after Bucky breaks free from his Winter Soldier programming, he finds Jason and adopts him. It's so good, y'all. I literally drop everything to read this whenever it updates.

The Glue by sleepynarwhal. Daredevil is the one to mentor Spiderman instead in the MCU and it's very adorable how much Matt goes from reluctant mentor to embracing it, as well introducing him to the other Defenders.

the road home by @drakefeathers. Jason is homesick during his Lost Days Era world murder-tour and ends up returning home.

I'll Catch a Break Someday by @victory-in-the-skye. Fullmetal Alchemist crosses over with the MCU. It has Fem!Ed, which might not be everyone's cup of tea, but it definitely contributes to the story in a way that makes it interesting. The author does a fantastic job of capturing Ed's voice, even in first person! It's a series, but it hasn't been updated in a while and I hope the author is doing okay!

Arkham Compendium by @lananiscorner. If you're a fan of Arkhamverse, I cannot recommend this series enough. Focusing on Jason before, during, and after Arkham Knight, the author does a fantastic job of delving into Jason's psyche during the course of his life. Ill Weeds Grow Apace is my favorite of the series, focusing on Jason healing after Arkham Knight, and slowly reconnecting with his siblings. Lanani also has many other fantastic fics in DC, especially with Jason. While the author might not be in the fandom anymore, I will always be grateful for the fics that were written because they are masterpieces.
