i think the most unreal thing about the sequel trilogy isn't anything about rey… it's the fact that ben didn't know his grandfather

and i don't mean the fact that he was vader, but that, having proven the existence of force ghosts, i'm 100% sure that anakin would have done the impossible to keep an eye on his only grandson

(and cry to obi-wan for being so good to leia that he even named his son ben. obi-wan keeps an eye on him too, but less, he's dealt with enough skywalkers in life to continue stressing out in death, even if baby ben doesn't do any crazy maneuvers yet)

(i imagine him flying toys and spaceships over baby ben to make him fall asleep, and when he grows up, teaching him mechanics and how to deal with r2-d2 and c3-po)

so when snoke starts whispering to ben, well, the kid doesn’t pay much attention. he’s heard enough stories about the dark side from his grandfather anakin and his grandfather obi-wan to believe him blindly

and then the darth vader reveal happens. and the first thing ben does is not demand answers as to why he wasn’t told sooner, but laugh. because he finds it funny that one of the most feared creatures in history is the same one who disappears when his mother gives him a dirty look, who looks like a scolded puppy when his friend tells him something, who runs away from a green goblin so he doesn't hit him with a cane, and seriously, why doesn't anyone believe ben when he says he's seen darth vader's ghost cry during sad moments in romantic holo-movies?

and when snoke insists that his grandfather would want ben to continue his "legacy" of oppression, ben dismisses him and says "yeah, no. all my grandfather wants is for me to continue flying spaceships and fixing droids. oh, and also, the only thing he agrees with my mother on is that I should get a good girlfriend, marry her, and have lots of babies. for something they both agree on, i'm not going to ignore that!

Random tattoo headcanons because why not

Jesse has “Property of the Republic” tattooed right above his ass.

Anakin has a very cheesy tattoo of a lightsaber crossed with the royal mark of Naboo on the inside of his wrist. Padmé forbade him from tattooing her name as it would be a dead giveaway if he would be examined for medical reasons, which happens quite often.

He also has his mother’s name tattooed, on the inside of his upper arm.

He lost both of these tattoos when he became Darth Vader because his skin was so badly burned. Though symbolic for him severing ties with his old life, a deeply buried part of him holds a grudge against Obi-Wan for this.

Ahsoka has a tattoo of Rex’s jaig eyes between her shoulder blades.

Rex has a tattoo of Ahsoka’s facial markings on his right shoulder.

Kanan has a tramp stamp saying “Fuck with Force” that he got when he was drunk off his ass. Hera teases him with it sometimes. When Zeb found out he laughed so heard he fell down the Ghost’s ladder and bruised a rib. He considers the knowledge worth the pain. Kanan’s deepest fear is the kids (and Chopper) finding out about it, and Zeb relishes is using that to shamelessly blackmail him.

Contrary to what many people expect of her, Sabine doesn’t have any tattoos; she likes temporary design better, just like she repaints her armour often. She is a wizard with henna and body paint, though.

Kallus has his designation ISB-021 tattooed on his bicep in white ink, making it look like he was branded with it. This was done voluntarily.

Eli has a single blue T tattooed right over his heart. When Ar’alani finds out she doesn’t know how to talk to him for three days straight.

Thrawn doesn’t have any tattoos, but Faro has multiple times caught him looking up Lysatran art and tattoo designs.

About the Chosen One

Do you ever think about the fact that despite not knowing if Anakin is the Chosen One, Obi-Wan keeps choosing him over and over again, during all his life ?

He chooses to train him to become a Jedi, reluctantly at first, because he's bound by his promise to Qui-Gon. But still he does.

He chooses to keep being his master even if Anakin is the hardest challenge of his life, makes him rethink his entire way of teaching and honestly gives him headaches every day.

He chooses to follow him when Anakin expresses his doubt about wanting to be a Jedi. He chooses to step out with him in case he does want to leave the Jedi order.

He chooses to stay by his side after Anakin is a Jedi himself, during the clone wars where they've never been so close.

He chooses to believe in Anakin when he discovers his relationship with Padmé, to trust him.

He chooses to believe Anakin doesn't have anything to do with the dark side (how could he ?) until he's faced with the reality.

He chooses him once again, when he accepts to look out for his son, even though he probably died with Anakin when he thought he killed him that day.

He chooses him for the next 10 years, when his nights are filled with the memories of him, when he's drowning in guilt, when his days are nothing but a painful reminder of Anakin's ghost in his son's features.

He chooses him, when they meet 10 years later, and he cannot for the life of him, kill Anakin again.

Finally, he chooses him when he decides to stay alive for 10 more years, until the only one that can take his life is Anakin himself.

And even then, when it's Anakin's turn to die, he's amongst the ones to choose to welcome him in the Force again.

Anakin is such an interesting character not only because of the tragedy his life is, but also because who he is can change depending on the point of view of the person watching him

To Obi Wan, he's the little boy he raised, the one he failed to protect, his brother, his child, his life.

To Ahsoka, he's fun, he's smart, he's someone to look up to, he's her big brother, he's the one who made life bearable during the war, he's someone she wishes she could have gotten to fully know, he's a well crafted lie.

To Padmé, he's the caring man she loves and cherishes so much, he's the father of her children, he's light, he's the definition of betrayal, he's someone she should have raised their twins and died with.

To Palpatine, he's a tool, a weapon, someone to manipulate, his apprentice, the reason why his empire is no more.

To the Clones, he's their general, their friend, someone they could talk to, someone they could trust, someone who was kind and good to them, he's the one who did his best to cheer them up after a hard battle, he's the man who betrayed them.

To Luke, he's a legend, his father, someone he wishes he had gotten to know, he's a monster, he's someone who committed so many atrocities yet still had light in him, he's someone he trusted to come back, to save him.

To Leia, he's a monster, he's the horrible man who tortured her and forced her to watch as her home was being destroyed the same way he destroyed the ones of many others, he's a ghost, he's the one her son idolizes, he's someone she'll never forgive but never forget either.

It even happens in the fandom. There's people who think of him as arrogant, as selfish. There's people who think of him as misunderstood, as someone who deserved better. There's people who only remember him as the kind man he once was

@thedynamicworm thank u!!! ur idea of them meeting on coruscant is fun but leia doesn't sneak away on any missions!! she may have her father's inability to follow orders, but she knows where to draw the line and draws it pretty solidly at "things that will get me killed and/or grounded for a year". she sticks to tatooine and rebellion bases and the few planets her family takes her to for jedi training or little trips!

the closest she gets to meeting luke before age 15 is thru force dreams and the like

Padme is VERY quiet about Luke's birth for the first few months (is just on Naboo w her family) and 1. pretends Luke was the result of a secret Naboo husband and 2. manages to hide when his birthday is so it looks a Bit Less Suspect. the handmaidens create this insane papertrail so convincing that Palps, had he not known otherwise, probs would've fallen for loll.

so deep down he does sorta know that Luke's Anakin's son, however comma he can't prove it for shit and Padmé never lets him get close enough to try prove it loll. + he can't rlly openly act against such a popular senator so theyre essentially fighting a shadow cold war

Luke meets Rex (eventually)!!! the closest there ever would be to codywan would be Obi-wan wistfully staring at his commander like he's in a period drama remembering before remembering he's not a hussy and thats forbidden lol. cody's just up to his canon shit unfortunately ):

they meet after the reunion when Padmé and Luke are staying on a rebel base w the Skywalkers and the Ghost fam visits! Ezra obvs goes to see his bestie Leia and she's like EZRA I HAVE A BROTHER NOW MEET MY BROTHER HIS NAME IS LUKE ISN'T IT COOL I HAVE A BROTHER and with a very fifteen-year-old twinge of worry that he's going to be replaced, Ezra goes to meet Luke. and the twinge of worry is replaced with a twinge of "oh no i'm gay" bc wow ok. he's cute. are people allowed to be this cute??

Luke's first opinion is "wow this guy's cool! and he has um... very uh... mm facial structure" the former of which is definitely ruined when Ezra does some stupid shit like 3/4 of a backflip and eats shit on the hangar floor

Force Ghost Anakin, unreasonably upset because obi-wan went 10 years ignoring him in an iteration where he was trained by Qui-Gon: I just can’t believe someone who is supposed to be my other half would do something like that !! To me!!! An innocent!!

Force Ghost Obi-Wan: you’re being unreasonable anakin that wasn’t me that was a different version of me. And that wasn’t you. That was a different you. They should have no bearings on our current relationship.

Force Ghost Anakin: oh now those versions of us should have no bearings on our current relationship!! But in the iteration where an Anakin slept with both you and Padmé, that’s different and you’re totally justified being upset and blinking to a different dimension every time I show up

Force Ghost Obi-Wan, sniffing: yes that’s different. you cheated on me.

WIP I'm Accepting I Will Never Write

My brain has been generating too many Star Wars ideas for me ever reasonably get around to writing all of them, so I'm going to start dumping them on here (maybe AO3 as well, not sure yet) once I've accepted it's an idea I won't get to. So, to start off:

Anakin got Arrested at the Start of the War

In this one, Anakin's massacre on Tatooine was revealed shortly into the war (Qui-Gon Jinn's ghost, A'Shared Hett or Padmé having a conscience, doesn't matter it's not the point of the idea and I don't think it affects the plot). Anakin goes to Jedi jail in the Temple and the war proceeds apace.

At the end of the war, when Palpatine sets off Order 66, the Temple Guard who in another timeline became the Grand Inquisitor lets Anakin out. They would be killing all the Jedi, but somehow the Jedi have been alerted and the Temole seems strangely light on clone troopers they could be using as backup. The Grand Inquisitor knows this, Anakin doesn't. He's been in Jedi jail and has no idea what normal operations in the Temple have looked like for the past three year. They manage to get to the atrium of the Temple with the objective of getting out and rounding up some clone troopers to come back with. Except there's this Tortuga fighting both of them. She's not getting in any hits in on them but this scrappy, can't be more than 16, 17-year-old is holding both of them off while simultaneously organizing the Padawans and Initiates to grab younglings and run.

Then the 212th enters, Cody and Rex frog marching Obi-Wan in.

Which gives Anakin the opportunity to villain monologue about the Jedi Order not understanding emotion, they threw him away, Palpatine recognizes his true power, Obi-Wan will see the destruction of everything he holds dear, blah blah blah. Basically entitled white boy I did no wrong (ignore the dead children), you'll regret being so mean to me (enforcing the consequences of my own actions), ranting regurgitating Palpatine's bullshit about Jedi.

Meanwhile, the Grand Inquisitor is noting that a lot of kids are safely getting the fuck outta Dodge and the 212th is getting some good lines of fire. Why are they letting Anakin monologue instead of enacting Order 66?

Finally as Anakin is winding down, Obi-Wan speaks up: yes but, you see, you made one critical mistake.

Anakin, sneering: oh what's that

Obi-Wan: you hurt your Padawan-sister

Obi-Wan Force pushes Ahsoka and every remaining kid out of range while the entire 212th opens fire on Anakin and Grand Inquisitor.

Inquisitor is dead on the ground (sorry buddy, you were just a plot device to get Anakin out of his cell and show off how badass Ahsoka is with Soreasu mixed into her Jar'dai (I think I spelled those right...)). Anakin is on his Force bullshit, not quite dead, as Obi-Wan, Cody, and Rex come over to check.

Anakin: you won't finish me off, you're a Jedi, you're too weak.

Rex putting three rounds in his chest and three in his head: I'm no Jedi, slaver.

Backstory to get to this scene that slammed into me like a ton of bricks months and months ago:

212th never split the 501st off since Anakin wasn't there to get Knighted. Therefore Fives went to Obi-Wan when he found the chip. Obi-Wan got Shaak Ti to distract the Kaminoans, so Quinlan (or another Shadow, but I like using Quinlan for the known connection to Obi-Wan) could dig in Kaminoans' files and find documentation as well as an emergency counter signal. Obi-Wan dechipped his battalion anyway, not wanting to rely on the counter signal being permanent. They then jammed Coruscant's communications when Cody got the Order from Palpatine. 212th then uses the counter signal on the Corries, as they go to the Temple to grab whatever Masters were on planet. The clones and a fourth of the Council go kill Palpatine as he's declaring the Empire on the floor of the Senate.
