Some Carlos facts and stats after the Mexican GP 2024:
Since Australia '24, Carlos did not finish anywhere above 3rd till USA '24, where he finished second, followed by Mexico '24, where he won. There is a 14 race gap between Australia and USA.
Nobody had won from pole in Mexico since 2016 till 2022. In 2016, it was Lewis who got pole and then won the race. In 2022, it was Max who was on pole and won the race from the same. Carlos, by winning this year, has made himself the third driver to achieve this since 2016.
Carlos made this Ferrari third win ever in Mexico. The first one was scored by Jacky Ickx in 1970 and the second one was scored by Alain Prost in 1990.
This race was the only third race to be won from pole in the previous 12 Grands Prix (Lando did it by winning in Netherlands and then in Singapore).
This was Carlos first ever podium in Mexico. He had never been on podium on this track before this.
Carlos is also the first ever native Spanish-speaker to have won in Mexico City, the largest Spanish-speaking city in the world.
This is also the first time Carlos has won more than 1 race in the same season, the first one being Australia '24.
With this race win, Ferrari moves up to 2nd place after McLaren in the Constructor's championship points table, pushing Red Bull to drop to 3rd.
This is also the first time George Russell did not crash or end up DNFing when Carlos won the race. Russell finished an exceptional 5th.
This is the second time we have had the privilege to witness a Carlando 1-2 finish, the first one being Singapore '23, where, coincidentally, Carlos won too, with Lando coming in second.
This is the third time Carlos has converted his pole position to a successful race win. First one was Silverstone '22 and the second one was Singapore '23.

Oscar's teenage crush on Lando - A study in Instagram likes
So... I did a thing... (yep, I miss Landoscar...and I have too much free time apparently).
Since 22/03/2013, Lando has posted 1768 posts on Instagram.
Oscar first likes appeared on the 21/12/2015.
Since then, Lando has poster 1652 posts.
And Oscar has liked 437 of them, which means he has liked 26.45% of Lando posts.
We can identify different eras :
2015-2016 : regular likes
2017-2018 : pure stalking with nearly every posts liked (apart from a period mid-2017)
2019-2022 : alternance between regular likes and droughts
from the end of 2022 : very regular posts
Other trends noted :
At the beginning, Oscar has liked some posts from Lando with other drivers. It has stopped recently.
Oscar mostly likes race related posts with some notable exceptions
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oscar also like the meme and funny posts a few years ago
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Notable posts :
The first one :
Tumblr media
They didn't know they would be playing together a few years later! :
Tumblr media
The first like to a post with both of them!
Tumblr media
The first one as future teammates
Tumblr media
Conclusions :
We knew Oscar's "celebrity" crush on Lando had started years ago from Twitter! Instagram proves it too!
The period where Oscar was clearly the more obsessed is between 2017-2018 which is strangely just before he met Lily (from what we know)...
Clearly, the crush calmed down during a few years... But ending up being teammate with Lando has probably awoken it!
Annual stats (take it with a pinch of salt because it also depends on the number of posts from Lando) :
2015 : 1 like
2016 : 55 likes
2017 : 117 likes
2018 : 131 likes
2019 : 39 likes
2020 : 27 likes
2021 : 16 likes
2022 : 19 likes
2023 : 32 likes

Carlos Sainz had 3.3% chance of winning both Singapore and Melbourne. Here's why:
Tumblr media
I was in a silly goofy mood (as in fuming because I decided to sleep instead of watching the GP, thinking "ah yes Max will just win again", like an idiot) and I've started wondering what are the odds of Max ONLY having issues with the car when Carlos is front row (and ahead of charles in quali). So I've gathered my three braincells together and calculated it - around 3.3%. This is absolutely WILD. Obviously I'm not downplaying Carlos's ability to deliver when the opportunity arises HOWEVER I think it's nice to point out just how unlucky Charles is lol.
As to where the hell I pulled this number from - I've calculated it based on last 11 races (since Singapore 23), in the span of which Carlos outqualified Charles twice (leading to his two wins) and Max also had technical issues twice. (This realization actually prompted me to calculate it, because "what are the odds???", right?) Basically I checked how likely it is for two events of probability 18,(18)% (both Max having issues and Carlos outqualifying Charles - 2/11) to occur simultaneously, which I did by multiplying the numbers and BOOM 3.3%. (For this stat to work, we need to pretend that the rest of the grid doesn't exist and it's just between the ferraris, so just keep that in mind). I'd like to add that I'm absolutely no expert in maths so I COULD BE WRONG - if someone has a better idea how to count this, hit me up.
Tumblr media
Also, data from 11 races is veeeeery scarce, so it's more of a "Look - that's an interesting stat" post, rather than anything else.
And on a different note-
3.3%? -> 33??? Hello??? Max Verstappen are you there???
So yeah, Charles continues to be the unluckiest ever [relatable]. If you flip the number around, he had 96.7% chance of winning at least one of the two races when redbull wasn't as strong as always.

Average Points to GP ratio
I was interested in this random statistic (and I've been recently considering the idea of making a sideblog only dedicated to F1 stats) so I thought I'd calculate it for each driver on the grid. This'll be by team. (All statistics from the official F1 website.)
All information accurate as of 07/04/2025 (most recent race Japan 2025).
FERRARI
Lewis Hamilton - 4877.5 pts / 359 GP = 13.6 points per GP
Charles Leclerc - 1450 pts / 150 GP = 9.7 points per GP
MCLAREN
Lando Norris - 1069 pts / 131 GP = 8.2 points per GP
Oscar Piastri - 438 pts / 49 GP = 8.9 points per GP
RED BULL RACING
Max Verstappen - 3084.5 pts / 212 GP = 14.5 points per GP
Yuki Tsunoda - 94 pts / 90 GP = 1.0 point per GP
MERCEDES
George Russell - 759 pts / 131 GP = 5.8 points per GP
Kimi Antonelli - there was an error with his page on the F1 website here, they only listed him as having 1 GP entry (clearly false), and having his highest finish as 4th... 0 times. Screenshot featured at the bottom*. Anyway, we have: 30 pts / 3 GP = 10 points per GP
ASTON MARTIN
Fernando Alonso - 2337 pts / 406 GP = 5.6 points per GP
Lance Stroll - 302 pts / 169 GP = 1.8 points per GP
WILLIAMS
Alex Albon - 258 pts / 107 GP = 2.4 points per GP
Carlos Sainz - 1273.5 pts / 209 GP = 6.1 points per GP
ALPINE
Pierre Gasly - 436 pts / 156 GP = 2.8 points per GP
Jack Doohan - 0 pts / 4 GP = 0 point per GP
RACING BULLS
Liam Lawson - 6 pts / 14 GP = 0.4 point per GP
Isack Hadjar - 4 pts / 3 GP = 1.3 points per GP
SAUBER
Nico Hülkenberg - 577 pts / 230 GP = 2.5 points per GP
Gabriel Bortoleto - 0 pts / 3 GP = 0 point per GP
HAAS
Ollie Bearman - 12 pts / 6 GP = 2.0 points per GP
Esteban Ocon - 455 pts / 159 GP = 2.9 points per GP
This makes a final ranking as follows:
Max Verstappen - 14.5
Lewis Hamilton - 13.9
Kimi Antonelli - 10
Charles Leclerc - 9.7
Oscar Piastri - 8.9
Lando Norris - 8.2
Carlos Sainz - 6.1
George Russell - 5.8
Fernando Alonso - 5.6
Esteban Ocon - 2.9
Pierre Gasly - 2.8
Nico Hülkenberg - 2.5
Alex Albon - 2.4
Ollie Bearman - 2
Lance Stroll - 1.8
Isack Hadjar - 1.3
Yuki Tsunoda - 1
Liam Lawson - 0.4
Gabriel Bortoleto - 0
Jack Doohan - 0
I do want to note that this is biased, especially towards the less experienced drivers. It's more representative for those who've spent longer in F1 (so it's more accurate for Fernando Alonso than it is for Ollie Bearman, for example, just by number of GPs considered).
*The F1 website is clearly inaccurate:
Tumblr media
...I also found out that the (wonderful, and truly useful) website StatsF1.com already does these stats for me. Sigh. This is their page for Kimi.

Protest by AM on Carlos being allowed to continue in Q2 despite stopping has been dismissed on account of “yea basically we’ve done this before, it’s been an issue before but he restarted without outside help and we never agreed on adding the outside assistance part to the rules and there was never a clear ruling on how long a car is allowed to be stationary before restarting on their own so lol I guess we’re gonna let this go”

The Occupation has systematically destroyed every social infrastructure that makes civil society possible, whether it be healthcare, food systems, or education. They've targeted schools, hospitals, businesses, and every person who supports their community through their profession.
Rana and Ahmed (@ranafam2) are educators from Khan Younis, with Rana as a statistics professor at the Islamic University of Gaza and Ahmed as the principal of his school: both institutions have now been destroyed.
Palestinians have survived occupation for well over a century now, and they will remain steadfast, but they need your support.
Even with the ceasefire, resources are still limited and expensive. The weekly allowance for basic provisions like baby formula and flour is about $1000. Rana is also anticipating additional costs for baby formula, clothes, and natal care as she's eight months pregnant and expecting soon.
Finally with the ceasefire, Rana is hoping to evacuate with her family altogether. The cost of evacuation per person ranges from $5000 to $7000. If Rana gives birth before she can evacuate, that puts the total anticipated cost at $49,000 (5 children, 2 adults).
As of today (1/23), we are at:
$8185/$100,000
$0/$1500 <- Weekly provisions
$0/$2400 <- Daily goal to reach $49,000 in three weeks
Donate here.
I know these are overwhelming numbers, but if every person who shared this post donated $5, we can get them to safety.

Lewis is so right to say that about Max not having teammates like his. I don't know why people are getting up in their crosses when we all joke about the redbull second seat curse AND Max has NEVER had a teammates at the caliber of Fernando Alonso, Jensen Button and Nico Rosberg
