Edwin's ghostly double-age is so important to me. He's 16 and spent 70 years in hell. He's 124 and navigating the issues in his first real friendship. He's 16 and he helps ghosts move on to the afterlife like a mystery solving psychopomp. He's 124 and coming to terms with liking boys. He's 16 his hellfire-forged soul was used as a living battery. He's 124 and he's wearing his stupid little schoolboy uniform collecting trinkets with his bestie. He's 16 and he died over a century ago

as an older sister, my favorite part of sunrise on the reaping was effie being the eldest child who got involved with the hunger games because she was helping her younger sister with homework. very relatable, 10/10, been there before, would do anything for my sisters.
however, also as the older sister, my least favorite part of sunrise on the reaping was how little haymitch seemed to care about his baby brother dying, and it was only the loss of his girlfriend that broke him. not relatable, 0/10, would never be me.

Prompt 281
I had a wonderful Ghosts are Dragons idea thanks to @fairy-lights-and-blobs
Nocturne, the great feathered wyvern of dreams, son of Morpheous, created of the sands of dreams itself, might be a bit, oh what’s the word, stumped. He had been twisting through the smog of the living world, and honestly should have been unseen. Keyword being should.
Because?
There’s a tiny? Hatchling? Growling at him when he slips into a warehouse, having been searching for a… misplaced item. And he says it with a question mark because? This is a hatchling, he knows his own senses, but they’re also… seemingly stuck in a human form.
Dear Dreams, this is worse than how Phantom was- and he had been so injured from too much ecto at formation, even for a baby Primordial, that… Ugh, Nocturne wants to slam his horns against the ground repeatedly.
Alright tiny red hatchling, let him just scoop you up aaand… alright, off to the Zone to see doctors, because really, he wasn’t expecting to get another child, but he’s also not going to just leave the equivalent of a chronically sick toddler!
Jason, currently Red Hood? No clue what the Fuck is happening, he just got kidnapped by an overgrown owl-lizard thing! And his comms are out and genuinely what the fuck-

I am sure many of you are aware by now that Minthara's Speak with Dead lines now have her mentioning a daughter. She did have these lines back in EA that were since removed on final release, but have now been reintroduced with Patch 8. @baldursyourgate did bring up a very good point that we could potentially be dealing with another breakup scenario where these lines were readded by "mistake" and may be reverted in a future hotfix. The only thing that has me feeling a bit sus is that unlike the breakup, tweaks to Minthara's Speak with Dead lines were mentioned in the Patch notes this time.
Tumblr media
However, these notes are vague. Her dialogue "makes more sense" in Act 2? I don't quite recall precisely what they were before, but I'm pretty sure her lines made sense. But, this does indicate that Larian did deliberately change her SWD dialogue. There are one of two possibilities I can think of, 1) they intentionally reverted back to her EA lines where she mentions a daughter or 2) they recorded new SWD lines entirely but accidentally reverted to the old ones rather than add the new ones (although there is no indication of new recorded lines). If #2 is true, we can expect a future hotfix to wipe this one away. Another more anecdotal thing I want to mention is that Larian tends to respond to mass public opinion. I wasn't on Tumblr when the breakup went down, but I was on Reddit. And that period of time was the most any of the BG3 subreddits talked about Minthara, and most were not pleased with the breakup. It did not take too long for Larian to undo the breakup. Right now, it's almost as if Reddit is unaware of the new SWD lines even though some subreddits do, uh... enjoy the idea of Milfthara. Since there isn't a massive social response to it, I have my doubts Larian will do anything.
As a Minthara enjoyer, it gets very frustrating to have each new patch recharacterize her. It would genuinely piss me off if they take her baby away... AGAIN. We know this will be the last patch, but there will still be hotfixes for a little while. As excited as I was yesterday, I am going to reserve calling this canon until Larian completely moves on from BG3 (even though it is canon in my heart).
However, if this dialogue remains, it creates a continuity error with Minthara's character as she never mentions having a child while she is alive. She only mentions the kid if she is dead. But, it's not like I've recombed through all her dialogue with this new Patch and Death Domain Daedra just barely woke up on the beach so give her a minute. So far, the theory most have is Minthara keeps her daughter a secret to protect her. But, I do not see any reason why she would withhold info on her daughter to a romanced player.
Minthara does actively grieve her home and says she will miss it until the day she dies. She could, of course, be grieving a daughter she will never see again. But I would think that if she had a child, she would not resign so quickly on the idea of never going home. From the moment you recruit her, all her future speak is of her remaining on the surface. She really really wants to kill her mom, but accepts she never will because she accepts never going home again. Even at the end of the game, she still plans to live on the surface. You are the one who has to bring up returning to the Underdark and her sole intent is to kill her mother. That honestly would be the most appropriate moment to mention she has a daughter waiting for her at home.
It also isn't like Minthara to be so witholding either, even if her intent is to keep her daughter safe. But, once she reads your mind, she knows with certainty that you are a safe person to tell. Minthara also very much likes knowing your intent, and she explains her intent to you often. So she wouldn't hide her intent to retrieve her daughter if she goes to the Underdark with you. Yes, she does go to the Underdark on her own if not romanced. But I think she is compelled to go down there for a completely different reason and not for a child.
So, we have a Minthara who supposedly has a child, but never mentions one unless she is dead. Minthara is also very open about her life in the Underdark, but never once talks about how motherhood affected her life. And she never speaks of a kid to a romanced player when returning to the Underdark, the one person in the world who should know that they are about to be a stepparent. This child creates nothing but contradictions. Personally, I do headcanon she had a child anyway regardless of what Larian says. She is 200+ years old, has admitted to having many sexual partners, and would have had the expectation by her house to have a child at some point. I have thought this exact contradiction through many times over. My theory is that Minthara does not mention having a daughter because while the Absolute was erasing her, it also erased her memory of having a daughter. "Well, technically the lines happen if she dies after the Absolute torture." Ssshhhhhhhhh... I'm going to ignore that because this is the only way all of this works in my brain.

The different ways Brent, Dan, and Victor do the three brothers scene as Darrel is insane and I’m never going to be normal about it. So excuse me while I yap about their different interpretations real quick:
Because Brent!Darrel starts it off trying to play the parent role he always has. He reminds his brother that his dinner is getting cold. Then he sorta backs off a bit and is a little softer when asking if Pony is going to join them. But then he is really quick about getting up and turning the TV off and that starts giving away his frustration. Then he’s definitely more irritated when he tells Ponyboy he can’t watch cartoons forever and he’s sort of cut off by Soda because Soda can tells he’s irritated. But he’s also immediately back to confrontational when he puts his foot down and tells Pony he’s going back to school. And upon getting no response, he decides to be just be blunt and his desperation to get his brother to say something comes out as anger. When he finally does go over to Ponyboy, he’s back to trying to be gentle. His voice is quieter and his worry is most prominent. And because Brent is the tallest of the actors, he almost curls in on himself to make himself seem less threatening and demanding. When he once again gets no response, he decides it’s better to make Ponyboy angry than to watch his brother slowly fade away into nothingness, so he decides to just come straight out and tell him his friends are gone and they are never coming back. When Soda has his breakdown, Brent!Darrel spends his time looking at the ground and quickly glancing up to look at his brothers. His final plea is one that stuns his brothers and the audience because his desperation and fear are suddenly so obvious and out in the open that it surprises everyone, because he’s Darrel, he’s strong and unfeeling, and suddenly he’s fighting back tears and pleading for his brother to come back.
Dan!Darrel starts by saying the foods getting cold line, but his voice is breaking. Instead of feeling like he’s trying to parent, his Darrel is already emotional and his concern is more prominent, instead of being masked with frustration. His delivery of the cartoons line isn’t as frustrated as Brent’s but it’s more annoyed than he started the scene. Then, he shakes his head and decides to try the parenting angle to see if that gets him anywhere. Darrel telling Pony that their friends are dead is clearly an admission that hurts him too because his voice breaks a bit more and he tries to act as an older brother who had more experience when he tells him that they’re never not going to feel that loss. But he’s also more pleading as he almost helplessly tells Ponyboy that he’s still acting like a zombie after two weeks. He’s also only confrontational for that one line because when he goes over to Ponyboy, he’s back to trying a softer and more gentle approach. Him telling Pony he has a gift is basically him pleading with Pony to come back to them. Darrel telling Ponyboy that Johnny and Dally are dead is his last ditch effort at trying to get Ponyboy to accept their deaths. He’s not exactly trying to upset him, he’s more trying to get him to understand that they’re gone. By the time Soda has had his breakdown, Darrel is fully crying and had given up on trying to convince him, now he’s just begging his brother to be ok. His I love you is done through tears and with a broken voice because he’s finally voicing what he’s been trying to show the entire time.
Victor!Darrel sounds almost surprised to see Pony when he first comes in before trying to pretend like everything is normal. Darrel telling Ponyboy he can’t watch cartoons for the rest of his life is done with this sadness as he watches his brother drift away slowly. He immediately tries to become the authority figure again when he tells Ponyboy he’s going back to school. Darrel saying that their friends are dead is done with frustration but also obvious worry and concern. He backs away from the parental role to become the big brother role as he says Pony has a gift, like he’s hoping hearing that his big brother thinks he has something special inside of him will make him come back to them a little more. He tries to tell Pony that Dally gave up then he realizes that saying that was probably a bad idea so he tries to backtrack and say Johnny died a hero, but he also needs to get his point across that their friends are dead. After he watches Soda have his breakdown, he tries to come back and reassure Pony that it’s not forever, but it’s more obvious than ever that deep down, Darrel is also just a terrified kid. He’s able to hold himself together until he says I love you, then his final wall breaks and he’s open and vulnerable.

welcome to another edition of i shouldn’t be thinking of my fic right now, but another brainworm just found its way into my head because apparently the first one is just a precursor for more editions ( ͒•·̫|
today’s edition is still peter parker in gotham, except jason isn’t the one who knew him first. nor does this involve my typical jason-batfam knowledge transfer. nor does peter first “manifest” in gotham.
rather, what if some other justice league member finds him first? and, by some mishap/mundane situation or another, that particular jl member brings him to gotham with them?
the jl members i’m most familiar with (sans bruce) are clark, diana, and barry, so they’re the only ones i got scenarios for:
diana/wonder woman
it is my personal headcanon that aunt may is themyscira-born who left for one reason or another
or maybe bana-mighdall native
but, either way, amazonian
something tragic happens to aunt may (worst case scenario: death), which leaves peter without a guardian
diana steps up to care for him, in memory of/as favor for a dear friend
and ta-da~ that’s how peter ends up under her wing
one day, diana needs to go somewhere she can’t take peter along and needs someone to watch over him
and who else is the best choice if not the man with, like, ten kids and the most secured house?
that’s right: bruce/batman
so there peter is: in gotham, in the wayne manor, surrounded by people who can’t stop looking at him
and, worse, who don’t leave him tf alone
honestly peter is a little freaked
he’s just sitting there, desperately wishing for his aunt diana to come back asap
he’s not much of a prayer, but he’s literally praying to diana’s father zeus if he can help her finish whatever she’s doing quickly so she can come back for him asap
peter’s thoughts: aunt diana pick me up i’m scared (ಥ﹏ಥ) these people are weird (ಥ﹏ಥ)
meanwhile, batfam is under bruce’s orders to make peter feel at home and to keep him safe if they don’t wanna feel wonder woman’s wrath lmao
of course, they’re also working on figuring out why peter looks really familiar . . .
clark/superman
i actually thought of two scenarios for clark
first: peter is a new photographer intern for the daily planet, assigned to shadow either him, lois, or both
him and lois emotionally adopted him because why not? peter is a lovely kid, clumsiness and all
(planting seeds for maximum chaos)
as their intern, they tag him along when they’re out in the field
which includes the day they covered a story in gotham
of course, as countless of fanfics foretold, batfam is in chaos once they catch a glimpse of the intern in question
because why does he resemble two of them their eldest???
peter ends up taking a picture of all the wayne children present since they’re all gathered in one corner
clark eventually sends that photo to bruce, who frames and hangs it somewhere in the manor
none the wiser that peter took that photo mainly to point out to clark and lois that those people kept watching him while he was doing his job
(i’m sorry, but the thought of bruce having to fight lois for custody/visitation rights just made me laugh)
second: mama kent is the first one to take peter in
peter somehow crash lands near the kent farm
mama kent checks it out, sees him there, and gets reminded of the day clark came into their lives (even if he isn’t aboard a ship nor is he a baby)
the next time clark visits, there’s a child — teenager? — that’s helping his ma and pa around the house
and apparently the child/teenager in question is now enrolled in the same school he used to go to
clark is understandably flabbergasted
he’s wary of peter at first, but the latter grows on him eventually
not sure how he ends up bringing peter to gotham in this scenario, but trust that he somehow does
it’s highly likely that bruce is the first to know of peter from all the bats, and ergo the first one to investigate and connect the dots
whether he’s the one to break the news to the rest is debatable, though
barry/the flash
bear with me on this one because all my barry allen knowledge is from the early season’s of cw’s the flash
it’s not an amalgamation of different medias like for diana and clark, sadly
anyway . . . simply put: peter is part of team flash, as their biochemistry intern-turned-expert
he’s one of barry’s guy-in-the-chair, if you will
barry doesn’t usually need anyone else in his ear when he’s working with the league
but for the newest case, he does — and everyone votes for peter
or he insists to be picked, definitely one of those
for security reasons, he wears a domino mask before barry speeds them to the temporary base
he originally wanted a full-faced one, but caitlin said that’d be too much, so— there he is
unbeknownst to peter, he catches batman’s eyes
because — surprise, surprise — he resembles his first robin, especially with that domino mask on
peter, for a reason or another, ends up getting hurt during the mission
it’s not critical, thankfully, but it’s bad enough that speeding him back to central city will be dangerous
batman insists to treat him in the cave, which conveniently happens to be closer than the watch tower
barry agrees, mostly because there’s no other choice . . . and because he has to prioritize what’s best for his team’s beloved youngest
tl;dr: what if instead of manifesting directly in gotham, peter first appears somewhere else, where the jurisdiction belongs to a different justice league member? the same member who, by some fate or another, ends up taking him in and ultimately bring him to gotham?

Prompt 84
Amity Park absolutely adores her little ghostling, her little Gatekeeper who was of her own ectoplasm, reborn from her own blood in the center of her new heart. She absolutely adores her baby, practically a newborn, being only a year dead!
So of course she had to gush and boast about her little phantom to the other city spirits! They all got together to gossip sometimes after all. And both Smallville and Fawcett started to gush about their own little ones back!
Gosh they should set up a playdate at some point, her little phantom could use some friends in the mortal realm. Well some more friends, three is obviously not enough. Oh, Gotham and Bludhaven have come over as well! It’s a playdate then!
Now if only each of their world’s timelines were synced up, but at least everyone is around the same age!
