i think the recent surge (starting from the matty situation to the ttpd release) of swifties turning into ex-swifties somewhat separates the mature ex-fans from the obsessive childish current fans. i think a lot of ex-fans (including myself) got into taylor's music sometime between 2019-2022 when she was being influenced by joe and brought out thoughtful, poetic songs like the ones on evermore and folklore. none of her other albums, before or after that have been on the same level as those folkmore.

that's not to say that joe wrote 90% of her songs on folkmore, but his being well educated in literature and poetry definitely helped taylor step up with her own music. the music, lyricism, theme, etc of these two albums are in stark contrast with anything else she's ever released, because she didn't have joe during those times. and it shows.

i strayed a bit off topic lol. but basically, what i mean to say is: the mature, grown up fans have been seeing her for who she really is, while the 30 year old teenagers are defending her like their lives depend on it. it's very telling of taylor herself (she's a 30 year old teenager too) AND her fans.

The interesting thing about this is Turbo DOES win. He does get that attention back by disguising as King Candy and being able to race again, and he keeps it for however long Sugar Rush was around for before the events of the movie. Spamton never gets it back…

But at least Spamton doesn’t get INCINERATED so I’d say he’s better off, even if the best outcome is him becoming an item

hello! i think i remember you saying you have a degree in english (if i hallucinated this, please feel free to disregard this ask). this is probably a very silly question, but do you find what you learned from your degree to be helpful when writing fics? or is it mostly not applicable to what you write? anyway, i hope you're doing well! i really like your mr robot works! :)

yeah i do have an english degree!! wow i cant believe u remember that lol. to be honest im lazy as hell and really slacked off throughout my degree... like i read maybe half of the stuff i was assigned lmfao 💀 despite this i managed to get really good grades, graduate with honours, get into a top grad school etc. i was always wayyyy more interested in theory than in literature itself. honestly i think a lot of the "greatest books of all time" people usually mention are either straight up trash or at least overrated as hell. i didnt really learn much from them writing-wise.

the big thing that got me into writing was roleplaying, actually. i used to be in the homestuck fandom (lol) and i was on either msparp or cherubplay every fucking day from ages 13-16. i was addicted to roleplaying lol, i probably wrote like 3-5k words everyday back then. i started writing fanfic but not publishing it around that time as well, and then wrote my first berserk fics around 16-17, which is how i got started on ao3.

in middle school/most of high school, me and my best friend were NOTORIOUSLY the most lazy people in our grade. like she literally pretended to have a learning disability throughout all of elementary school because she didnt want to do any work lol. anyways, in high school, i would literally arrive at school, sleep through my first class, skip the rest of my classes until lunch by either hiding in the library reading fanfic/manga or (if it was warm enough) SLEEPING OUTSIDE ON THE FIELD LMFAOOO, go to lunch, go to my english class in the afternoon (only class i liked), and then spend the rest of the afternoon at starbucks on my laptop roleplaying. i think i had like 90 absences in my first semester of grade 9 lol. i really didnt take school seriously because i knew i could just study for 30 mins before a test and get an A, so my grades were always high anyway-- and then i let my friend (the aforementioned extremely lazy one) copy off me so she didnt flunk out of school.

anyway, in grade 10 the teachers started to get sick of my shit. by this point i was pretty brazen about how much i didnt give a shit about school-- i would bring a blanket to school to nap with, showed up to class drunk, sold cigarettes to people in the parking lot, all sorts of shit. one day i was sleeping in the library and i woke up to the principal standing over me telling me he needed to see me in his office. they basically gave me an ultimatum: either i got my shit together and started putting in effort, or they'd have to start giving me suspensions until i was eventually expelled. i really considered dropping out of highschool at this point. instead, i did all my remaining classes needed to graduate through this online course site-- i did about 2 years of school in 2 months lol. i applied to university on a whim and got in. i was 16 when i started university.

in uni, my schedule changed drastically, and i had less time to roleplay. this is when i started writing fanfics. im not sure if i have a "style" or anything really (maybe you could tell me if i do), but any skill i have with writing comes from those years of roleplaying + lots of fanfic reading. id say the only thing (writing-wise) i really learned from my degree is how to proofread for grammatical errors and what i DONT like/find to be lazy writing.

I am an overeducated, underemployed hippie in my upper 30s. Have yet to be executed for any of my rants. People usually blink slowly a few times and ask me if I'm watching the game instead. And they usually mean the Lions, around here. (Who are largely Christian by now. No tearing apart infidels at the ol' Silverdome.)

Although I joke fondly that my mother is an unstoppable cyborg who got programmed by Ms. Frizzle, she is not the Incorruptible Virgin. My Conception was not preceded by the Angel Gabriel, but by three fuzzy navels the night before Thanksgiving in 1985. (My father was involved, yes. Like many Jewish fathers, he occasionally likes to liken himself to God or one of his prophets. It's just a thing that happens when you're taught to think of Avram as your cranky great-grandfather who's the reason your Uncle Isaac doesn't talk at meals ever.)

I can't walk on water (dead man's float I do okay). I can't turn water into wine, and I've tried really hard. I can't multiply sandwiches just by thinking about it, but I only try it with pizza or tacos tbh. Sometimes brownies. Can't raise the dead or I would have way more cats than I do now. I started playing Jesus because I have tried to understand Christianity from the outside for a long time. I have Christian relatives because my family likes to intermarry, although I wasn't raised in the faith (my Jewish Dad got into the Santa spirit perhaps more than my largely Catholic relatives, who reminded me that Saint Nicholas gave to the poor, confirmed for me that Santa was a really just a kids' story with a deeper meaning, and told me I was smart for having compared the sooty boot prints).

And there's always been these odd conceptual leaps in the Story of Jesus that didn't make sense to me, like someone had taken out some kind of central character or conceit that made the whole thing make sense and replaced it with this circular idea about its relationship to Judaism, which I understood as a very specific history of a very specific people in a very specific set of times and places rather than something that could be applied to the whole world easily. Sure, we had some pretty good values in there by the time I got around to being enrolled in a Reform Temple (partially so I could network with my fellow tiny Jews in the 90s, which I didn't do much of on my own because undiagnosed autism), but that had come over centuries of insight, debate, and social and philosophical change, not all from the Torah itself.

I'm starting to think that Jesus was originally supposed to be the concept of phonic language itself, personified as the Unkillable Son of Saturn the God of Time and Decay. But this is a really weird theory.

And of course I would think that. I'm a writer. A poet, and I don't like to bring that term out casually because it makes me sound fucking insufferable, but I write poetry and I'm good at it when I do. And something that's really important in poetry is the space between words. Speaking them slowly or quickly, with a pause or no pause, this is stuff slam poets are coached on. I picked up a lot from Ronnie Apter in her Modernist Poetry class, even though I never did real slam ("real" slam is ranked, slam style is just the style, I can do slam style but I think competitive poetry is... Not My Thing). But one of the most challenging gulfs between a "page poet" and a "performance poet" is the way they supposedly enjamb their words--a "page poet" is supposed to arrange things so it looks pretty, a slam poet is supposed to arrange things so the spaces represent things about tone and delivery.

Muse guy said he would have never done that cuz the things that are important are having authenticity, sticking to your commitments, sticking to your fans especially the real ones who will pay to come to see you and that should always come above some commercial activity. I completely agree with them and it's sad to see respected people in & around the music industry be disappointed in them but they made their bed. I truly, truly 100% agree that they would have made R&L fest their bitch, they would've had an iconic set. They're just like that, they're amazing performers.

uh u dont have to post this to the public its more of a mini rant related to the n*wjeans thing n stuff but. i did notice how an (now ex) oomf of mine has a blog for ggs including n*wjeans. which was already ? bcus this person is nearing 30. my issue was then noticing them starting to get into st*yc and seeing how the first members that caught their eye were seeun and yoon which. surprise! are also minors. now idk what the person's type is in terms of biases/ults but when ur almost 30 and u stan 4th gen groups like enh*pen, st*yc, n*wjeans, etc and ur mostly interested in the members that are around 17~19 thats when things begin to be rly questionable.. i dont want to assume the person has any ill intentions but noticing this pattern def made me kinda uncomfortable 💀 anw thats all mi father hope ur well <3

firstly do i know them bc if so lmk so i can block!! second i have also noticed this with adults here lately … i think it IS weird when the first members to ‘catch your eye’ are the minors tbh 😭 like personally i just don’t think that that’s normal behaviour. i think if the groups you like have some minors in them it’s whatever but when it’s 90% minors or you fixate on the babies that’s when it’s time to take a step back and ask yourself why that is. a lot of people feel very defensively abt this and it’s like. i regularly get minors (or ppl under 19/20) messaging me saying how uncomfortable they are with the amt of adults running blogs for minors in kpop but said adults will act like it’s a human rights infringement to tell them that they’re fucking weird for doing it 😭

Kinda funny that the crit for this is a lot similar to that of MG..."it could have been, but..."

They better not be touching my Misery, even if it's a "loose remake". The Weeknd already ruined his acting cred with the cringe-inducing The Idol. His ego is so...huge yet there's nothing but hot air there, and those stroking it (Trey Edward Shults) needs to take a second look at that crap show with his bad acting.

Misery's another pop culture thing that I've been devoted to for over 30 years. I have the book in several iterations (French 🇫🇷🥖🫠 is my favorite) and I keep finding Misery VHS tapes around the area where I live (it's just yet another weird phenomenon that I can't explain). I have three, floating somewhere around this garbage dump of an apartment, even though I don't even have a VCR.

My baby dog is named after a character in the newish, successful prequel to Misery, the second season of Castle Rock. The backstory on Annie was phenomenal, and Lizzy Caplan was robbed of all the awards for her portrayal of Annie. Fucking ROBBED.

(Also, whoever made this decision here was a fucking genius...bringing to mind the final shot of the original Psycho movie was brilllllllliant.)

So Misery has a very close place in my heart (not to fucking mention that it came out around the time I had my own goddamn stalker...that is part of the attempted murder thing I've yet to post). It was the last movie my father took me too, as well (he's still alive...but like Cairo, I have very selfish parents).

Do I have faith that our girl Ortega can do it? Of fucking course I do. She plays Crazy pretty well. But it would be trusting the material to a child (ha ha) who, from the looks of past cringey work, is just driving another (mid) vehicle for Ortega to get hurt in the crash. Too many people LOVE Misery, and Annie Wilkes is beloved. She's a most iconic villainess, and just about anyone who plays her gets accolades (Laurie Metcalf in particular was fkn great in the stage play). I don't see Ortega dropping the ball on any iteration of Annie Wilkes, but I see people looking at the Weeknd after The Idol and laughing (as well they should).

Plus, there's this factor:

Who is Ortega's agent? Isn't she getting fucking sick of re-doing everything from 30+ years ago? What's fucking next, a remake of Gremlins with her as Gizmo?

...Actually, I'd pay to see that. I WOULD PAY.

But seriously, she wanted to become a scream queen of sorts and now she's fucking stuck doing the same shit other people did before her, and within the memories of people who were alive when the originals came out. Maybe if 50 years had passed between everything, sure. Maybe she should try remaking more stuff from the 60s and 70s. But then again, this is happening with Burton (and Attack of the 50 Foot Woman, which I still kinda feel is perfect for the barely 5' foot tall Ortega 🤣) and I still feel it's just doing the same thing over and over and over again when there are literally thousands of original scripts out there that aren't getting a second look. There's also thousands upon thousands of books that haven't been adapted.

Or, if she really wants to remake something so badly, something that would be completely controversial: Anne Desclos's The Story of O. A new take on it, one that will confuse the Purity Culturalists just as it pissed off feminists in the 1970s before Desclos, a woman, was revealed to have written it in the 90s. Much like it is today, people get pissed off when female characters are written by women as anything less than 'more' (perception-wise, ofc) than the men around them/young women can never be written as willingly submissive or horribly deranged. Can't write Cairo to be the crazy stalker Adrian Forrester was. Can't write anything where a woman willingly throws herself at/or is submissive to a man (because that never happens IRL, right 💀).

The problem is, people love Crazy/unhinged. We fucking love. It. WHEN IT IS DONE WELL. We need substance behind it, especially if it's a new take on a beloved, completely and utterly unhinged character like Annie Wilkes.

My end of the year review is a hopeful look towards 2024 because 2023 will go down as the worst follow-up to a bad year ever.

August 2022, Dad passes.

November 2022, Wife t-boned in an Oklahoma City intersection; diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury.

15 January 2023, I am transported by ambulance and admitted to the hospital for trouble breathing & walking. 🚑 I am diagnosed with Influenza A and Pneumonia which was the trigger for a rare condition called Guillain-Barré Syndrome. It’s where the immune system decides the peripheral nervous system is the enemy and attacks those nerve endings. 🦠

Medically induced sleep, ventilator, feeding tube, PIC line.

23 January 2023, wake up on a ventilator and find I am completely paralyzed from the neck down. 🥺 While I was asleep, I was treated for ventilator pneumonia, had a blood transfusion and 5 rounds of plasmapheresis. Basically, they replaced my icky blood plasma with nice fresh plasma from the blood bank. 🩸

26 January 2023, extubated and off the ventilator for about 3 hours when I suffer cardiac arrest and briefly die. 10 chest compressions plus a shot of something and I’m back on the ventilator when I wake up again. 💀 They said I had carbon dioxide poisoning, which caused the cardiac arrest. Now there is talk of a possible tracheotomy if my body refuses to tolerate being off the ventilator. That would have meant shaving off my 13 year beard. And being moved to a long term care facility. I’m against all of these ideas. 🤬 Months after my release, the nurse manager of the ICU assured me that shaving off the beard would have been absolutely avoided. 😍

A week or so later, they remove the ventilator once more, but this time, thank fuck, my body remembers how to breathe. I’m starting to regain movement in my fingers and toes and then I can lift my arms and legs. The nerve pain is un-fucking-bearable.

I’m awake! And still bearded! Huzzah! 🎉

15 February 2023 left the ICU, transferred to an inpatient rehabilitation hospital right next door, where I, in my 40s, have to learn how to walk again.

15 March 2023 A very long and exhausting 30 days later I go home with a walker but within a week or so I’m pretty much walking on my own. During my time in the rehab hospital we discover I am incredibly allergic to Lyrica. 🫠 I won’t go into detail but let’s just say it was the worst bad trip ever.

I lost ~40 pounds on the ICU diet. Fast forward to today and I’m about 90-95% of where I was a year ago although I still have a lot peripheral nerve pain, balance issues, and I’m always tired. Thankfully the nerve pain is nothing like it was in the ICU.

In the end, I am incredibly lucky to have the love and support of my wife, my mom, my sister, my nieces, and of course my Internet hooligan friends, and last but definitely not least, my #spiderSilk🕷️🕸️ family, there to help me persevere and make a speedier than expected recovery. ❤️‍🩹

I am hopeful that 2024 will be the year I shrug off GBS for good. 🤙🏻

I loved this book so much, i fucking cried at the V gone scene, and the whole book was a great masterpiece, a perfect mix of comedy, romance and action. I fucking loved it and i love YOU author. just marry me at this point bruh-

I'm going to reread Creation next, the jjk ff. i had teary eyes and a broken heart in Unknown, but Creation made me fucking cry more than i did when i was depressed-

anyways- so another book that made me cry (very vulgar, sexual and violent stuff) was very memorable and fucked up, which was Just Us, and i swear i fucking don't want to re-read it, it will literally fuck up my mind again. when i first read it, my brain wasn't functioning properly for a few days like wtf-

but ngl the book was great and VERY memorable cuz even after a year i CLEARLY remember it because of the intense and excessive scenes. the last chapter had be crying, and the author was so brutal she didn't even leave any comdic quote and end to cheer me up again so i ended up depressed the whole day… fuck it, i loved it.

Creation had me pretty fucked up for a few days too, but more in a lovesick way, i would cry whenever than scene came up in my mind, and not to mention that i cried for an hour straight after that book ended… like THAT'S what you call true love bitches, argue with the goddamn wall-

i hate when good books come to an end, because my imaginary world fall apart with it

i should start studying physics now, tomorrow is my exam… can't believe i read 54 chapters, a goddamn book, instead of studying a mere chapter of physics for my exam-

The vibes of Canada was just so pretty like Canada is so modern & beautiful. It kinda reminds me of a pic I saw of Chicago. I’d like to live in vegas cus of the buildings & lights ofc but it’s constantly hot over there right? So yeah no & a lot of people live there & like to go there so it’s like no. I’m voting for Italy so far.

Oh I saw you in my dream the other day. You were in Cali living your life. I’m not sure if you are currently there tho. You were posting it. I was in Cali as well I believe but I was in a building & I never left. I saw slaughtered horses like hundreds of horses violently slaughtered. It was actually really traumatizing to see all of that. A lot of blood. My cards said it’s from the pain of like failed friendships but also freedom. I think it was more towards freedom. I saw you in my dream yesterday too… sorta. Actually idk.
