So it turns out that neurotypicals, when you have a class with them and someone flings a rubber band at them and you tell them that if they give you the rubber band you will use it to make a functional mini bow and arrow set with which they can shoot a qtip at the person who fling the rubber band at them, they don't actually expect you to come back with the mini bow and arrow set the next day

Petit Chef Kitchen Toy, Sink and Fridge Functional for The Sims 2

These are 4to2 conversions from Syboulette, low poly.

The kitchen toy is functional and your children sims can prepare 3 different food with it: Cupcake, Cake and Donut (like the original toy, they need to have some cooking skills or the food will be burned).

I added a second version of the kitchen named "NO SINK". This version (that has the same guid, so choose only one) doesn't have the sink so you can put the functional sink on the slot I added for it. The sink has Rebecah animations (so children won't use the stool) and is just for children (found in the sink section of buy mode), all the actions except for the repair one are just for children.

The fridge is functional and just for children too and is based on THIS fridge by Rebecah. The inside was empty so I added some stuff from this Ravasheen Fridge.

Where do the names "Autobot" and "Decepticon" even come from? Are there any sort of root words that go with them?

Dear Etymology Enthusiast,

This answer is complicated by language barriers that span galaxies. As Galvatron alluded to—albeit in tones I would never use—Cybertronian words can be very linguistically dense; a translation that conveyed every nuance of our equivalent for "Autobot" would take over seventeen minutes for a human to say! As such, "Autobot" and "Decepticon" are only approximations of the neocybex names of these factions.

In many universes, my faction is named for the ideals of freedom and autonomy—hence, "Autobot" is derived from the term "autonomous". Sometimes this reflects a casting off of Quintesson rule or triumph over a caste system, but in other contexts—sometimes simultaneously—it reflects a darker facet of Cybertronian history. A famous bot once said that autonomy was a gift, a spark of sentience kindled by Primus himself. That bot's name was Nova Prime, and he used that belief to justify the subjugation of hundreds of alien worlds.

The suffix translated as "-bot" encompasses ideas such as "person", "individual", "independent agent". It could be considered an adaptation of the common English-language "man", of course—you might be familiar with the Aerialmen, the Dinomen, and the Sparkamen—but "bot" conveys that it most commonly refers to mechanical lifeforms. While typically used in the names of teams and factions, occasionally an individual might be called "Dinobot" or "Dreadbot"; such sobriquets can be seen as similar to a human being carrying a family name as their first name, such as "Jackson".

As for "Decepticon"… much has been said of the phrase "you are being deceived." In many universal clusters, this is indeed the earliest origin of the term. "Decepticon" suffers to a greater degree from the imperfections of localization. In many universes, Cybertronian language uses nuances related to subject and object that fail to translate, especially when neologism is concerned; "Decepticon" principally suggests "deceptive" in English, but in its original Cybertronix, the waveform can simultaneously be read as "the deceived".

The "-con" suffix is not dissimilar to "-bot", though it carries subtly but significantly different implications. "Person" is an adequate translation, but its meaning is much broader, not being restricted to living creatures; you may know of data-cons, information storage devices commonly used in my home reality. The closest equivalent to the suffix in your language would be "entity"—or, more bluntly, "thing". As such, the translation "-con" is derived from your language's "construct", a created object or idea.

The reasoning for the use of this suffix varies across the multiverse. On versions of Cybertron where Functionism took hold, Cybertronians of lower labor castes, or with alternate modes considered fit only for use by others, were more likely to have "con" names or be assigned categories like "Constructicon", "Agricon" or "Recordicon". Conversely, in universes where the Decepticons originate as a military junta, the use of "-con" carries the suggestion of component; all Decepticons are considered to be a part of Megatron's war machine. These implications, of course, carry over to the Mini-Cons. While I am proud to count Safeguard as a friend and partner, for much of my world's history, Decepticon and Autobot alike treated his kind as "smart tools", as mere objects to be collected. Regardless, the Great War created extreme political polarization of the "-con" suffix, and nearly no self-described Autobot adopts it; even as Decepticons freely use "bot" to describe themselves, "con" is almost exclusively used by Autobots as a term of animosity.

One more suffix you may have heard of is "-tron"; here, the root is "positron"—which, before the introduction of microscope alt-modes, we simply understood to be the stuff of sparks. The Cybertron factions of realities like the G1 World and BT World draw their names from a well of indigeneity; unlike the invading, colonizing Quintessons, the Cybertrons are the true sparks of the planet and derive their name thus. The Destrons, then, are destructive sparks who oppose the planet. Naturally, "-bot" and "-con" recur in these worlds too, following similar etymological patterns.

every once in a while i’ll remember the scene where renee needs to borrow andrews car to go bust jean out. specifically when she knocks to wake the boys up neil on instinct reaches under his pillow to grab a knife/gun or something to defend himself and he grabs andrews arm on accident and andrew just kinda looks at him. i think abt that a lot.

i think abt how in a way its kinda symbolic of how neil can begin to rest and how andrew will look out for him as well. a reminder that even after everything neil isn’t doing this alone.

CW : MALE PRESENTING PREGNANCY in the True Detective universe, lmfao so there's another user on this site in the true detective realms who I've seen like, in adjacent passing, on reblogs of other posts talking vaguely about Marty accidentally getting Rust pregnant in 2002 and I've had to pause on this one and contemplate it for a minute because I'm kind of obsessed with it. back in yons years of 2014 and 2015 "mpreg" was obviously not socially acceptable fodder in fandom and it absolutely would NEVER have flown in TD circles, considering half the fandom base at that time would get pissy and ants in their pants just over retired Rust and Marty kissing or having a cat. anyway.

I don't want to steal the other user's AU because I truly know nothing about it or the origins, it may have even been on discord for all I know, I've just seen them mentioning the most basic concept in Tumblr tags. but my mind immediately went to like...Rust hiding a pregnancy from Marty leading up to their fight in 2002, the fight happens and then he REALLY refuses to tell him, and then fucks off to Alaska without telling him about the baby. just to have the kid and raise it without telling anybody out of pure anger and spite. and it fits seamlessly with the 'time is a flat circle' theme because here's Rust, raising a child on his own in the Alaskan wilderness like his Pop did before him. everything we do, we are doomed to repeat again and again, etc.

all this to say, when Rust comes back to Louisiana in 2012 [within the context of this AU] with or without a nine-year-old in tow, the stakes are obviously way different. and he really has to make sure Marty is on his side before he even breathes a single word adjacent to this child's existence. but when he confirms Marty's on his side, and Marty proves his loyalty, and the kid is in safe hands while they finish working the case together...? oh. imagine the introduction. the drama 💋🤌 delicious middle-aged fatherhood 2.0. not even speaking on the part where Rust is the world's most traumatized parent after he lost Sofia at a young age and would lay down his life in a heartbeat for this kid he had with Marty

I always thought anyone who would've been interested in this story would've already read it by late 2023. I did expect a little bump after it was done, since some people don't like reading WIPS. But due to fan art and word of mouth and ??? new people coming into fandom ??? the stats keep going up!

Public bookmarks are the total seen here: 1001. As the author, I can see the total number of public + private bookmarks, which is 1764.

Obviously fanfiction stats are internet points that don't really matter irl but BUT BUT BUT it's very exciting to see. I wish I knew what the actual readership is :u My best guess during posting was between 2500-3500 people (I took note of number of hits before and after a chapter was posted), but now I'm wondering if the total is around 5000.

I wanted to do another round of mini prints as a thank you, either for 200k or for the 5 year anniversary of the first ch being posted.
