Fundamentals of being a (proper) Dominant

Being dominant is an art form not many fully comprehend, and being dominant over someone takes a lot of responsibility. First and most important is to build trust with your partner. They need to feel absolutely safe in your presence, and you always need to get their consent. No matter the relationship dynamic, you always need to get consent. Trust may take time to build, and you need to be patient with your partner to make sure it is properly established. Second of all, you can't just demand submission. You need to inspire it. You can start being assertive and physically/verbally dominant only if you have proven yourself to be responsible and a safe place for your partner. If you have to ask someone to call you their dom, daddy, etc. you have failed. Third important step. Do your research. Do your research on your partner's kinks, preferences and limits. Do your research on how you can provide them with the pleasure they need and how to keep them safe while doing it. That applies to physical/verbal punishments and/or acts, and to objects and toys you might be using. Real life is not scripted. Your favorite porn movie does not resemble it. Make sure you know what you are doing and are always 100% in control of the situation. Now, some inviolable rules for you and your sub. No matter the trust you've built or how well you think you know your partner's limits , always use a safe word or a signal. If you don't, you are a dangerous person, period. Another inviolable rule is aftercare. You must always plan ahead and know what you can do for your partner's well-being. And you must always provide it, no matter how tired you are or soft you think it makes you look. Physical and verbal aftercare is a rule. And of course, you, the dominant, need aftercare too. No, it doesn't make you look weak. You need it to feel human and there's nothing wrong with that, and it does not change the dynamic you have with your sub.

I have two examples to answer this question (1st Example) The matter is similar to creature muscles- shortly- even if the muscle is very strong as a rock- we understand this muscle is found depending on the blood motion-and any change in the blood motion can effect on the muscle dimensions and ability- similar to that matter is created from energy and depending on this energy motion features (2nd Example)–If the space is similar to the sea of water- the matter is similar to a whirlpool (vortex) found on the sea page- we understand the whirlpool (vortex) is created by the sea water but it has a distinguish picture from the sea waves and it moves by a different velocity from the sea waves- that explains how the moving energy can effect on the matter creation data- for example- we have a whirlpool (vortex) its diameter is 2 meters- why does this diameter equal= 2 meters? The diameter is created depending on the water velocity, pressure, amount and motion angle and many other features of (the moving water)- the moving water creates this whirlpool with diameter 2 meters and as long as the water motion is not changed this diameter will not be changed also- Similar to that, the matter is created from energy and this matter dimensions are defined depending on this energy motion features- Planet Motion Is Defined Before This Planet Creation How can that be possible? Grounding, Centering, Shielding

I realized today that of all the topics I've been discussing lately, I never stopped to cover fundamentals.

This is mostly because I run this blog a lot like a grimoire, in the sense that I assume you have basic background knowledge in magic.

But the main criticism I have with grimoires is exactly that: the assumption of some indeterminate amount of tradition-specific magical knowledge.

So here we go. I'm going to cover three of the most fundamental topics in magical practice: Grounding, Centering, and Shielding.

GROUNDING

This is arguably the most important, if only because it's one of the most versatile.

You can essentially think of Grounding as two related parts:

Releasing any excess energy

Replenishing any depleted or undesired energy

They happen in tandem. While there are as many ways to ground as there are practitioners, I prefer Thea Sabin's taproot method as detailed in Wicca for Beginners:

Sit or stand, if possible. Laying down works, but it might make you sleepy.

From the base of your spine, imagine a thick taproot (golden or white in color) growing and expanding deep into the center of the Earth.

When it's good and set in your mind--and in the Earth--gently pull up warm energy through it. Let it fill your body until it's completely suffused.

Push all the excess energy out through the taproot and let the Earth absorb it. Don't push out too much, but be sure to push out the unwanted energies like stress or anger.

Repeat steps 3 and 4 until you feel like your energy is mostly clean and fresh.

Let the energy fade from sight, knowing it is still there.

CENTERING

Many people just lump Centering in with Grounding, but they're technically distinct.

Where Grounding neutralizes, centering balances. It takes the energies you pulled up from the taproot and circulates it around your body.

I like to use a modified version of the Circulation of the Body of Light from Donald Kraig's Modern Magick:

With your energy still fresh and full from Grounding Step 5, concentrate your energy up at the top of your head.

Let the energy fall naturally down the right side of your body as you breathe out, then let it come back up the left side as you breathe in. Circulate a few times.

Let the energy re-settle at the top of your head. Then, let it fall down the front of your body with an out-breath; let it come up the back of your body with an in-breath. Circulate a few times.

Let the energy concentrate at your feet. Slowly pull it up in a ribbon around you, as if you were wrapping yourself up like a mummy.

When it reaches the top of your head, let the energy explode like a shower of sparks around you; let these sparks of energy collect back at your feet and come back up the ribbon. Circulate a few times.

When finished, allow all the energy to concentrate back at your feet and slowly pull it up through your body until it is completely full once again.

Let the energy fade from sight, knowing that it is still there.

SHIELDING

While not strictly the next logical step, many choose to shield themselves right after grounding and centering. It's a nice morning ritual to get into.

Shielding involves taking that newly-scrubbed and balanced aura of yours and fortifying it against the slings and arrows of everyday life.

This one is 100% my own creation:

Extend your taproot back into the Earth.

Pull a small amount of energy--don't overwhelm yourself. Pull slowly and gently.

Instead of letting the energy stay in your body, let it expand outward in all directions, forming a sphere of solid light. It should be full of energy.

Absorb the energy inside the sphere and push it back into the Earth through your taproot, but keep the external wall of the sphere intact.

Let the sphere slowly fade from sight, knowing that it is still there.

APPLICATION

So: where, when, how often? That depends on you.

I like to take maybe 5 minutes to shield at the beginning of the day, and maybe 5-10 minutes at the end of the day to ground and center.

As you advance, you'll find it easier to access your taproot, manipulate energy, and build shields for yourself.
