I woke up at 4 am last night and wrote this SQH with little MBJ snippet before passing the f out again:
SQH wrung his hands. MBJ was still crying. He'd done everything he could think of, making sure the kid wasn't too hot, feeding him, triple checking for injuries-
It wasn't like he was being too loud either. The kid's tears were near silent- just harsh breathy gasps of air in between jags where he just shook, tears streaming down his adorable round baby face.
"Are you sure you aren't hurt?" he asked helplessly. He pressed the back of his hand against MBJ's appropriately cool forehead again, like this time it would reveal the little demon's secrets.
MBJ shook his head, "I want my mama." he said before somehow crying harder.
oh.
oh but...
SQH mentally double checked his MBJ backstory - the very thing he was currently messing up- but no, yeah... He was remembering correctly.
At this point in his life MBJ's mother was already dead.
...
That was just fucking soul crushing wasn't it?
SQH sat down on the floor next to MBJ.
"Oh I'm sorry." he said, not sure if he was apologizing for the situation or his own decision a lifetime ago to write her out of the story quickly. He hadn't even had a good reason. Dead Moms were just a trope. "I'm so sorry she can't be here for you."
He reached out and pulled the little boy into his lap. MBJ flinched again, like he had every time SQH had touched him, like he was expecting the touch to hurt.
That tore at SQH'S tattered soul even more. He didn't trust himself to speak around the lump in his throat so he just hugged MBJ close and rocked him back and forth while stroking his hair and humming thoughtlessly.
After the initial flinch MBJ went utterly relaxed against him, like he was too tired to fight SQH's embrace.
Eventually MBJ's crying stopped and he dropped into the deep sleep of the truly exhausted. If SQH kept up the cuddling even after that it was nobody's business but his.

Fun and unique nicknames for our favorite dragon boy 🥰🐉
Meant to share this sooner but got distracted 😅
For a long time, I just had Sylus as ‘Hubby’ in my phone, but it didn’t feel very unique, and I wanted to make his nickname special. When his myth dropped, I immediately had an idea that lead me to lots of ways to give Sylus a nickname that really suits him and indicates the bond him and MC have :)
I play DnD, and I knew there was a partial dragon language made for the game. As soon as I saw Sylus was a dragon I raced to the wiki to study up on dragon speak, and was not disappointed.
I combed through every word currently in the draconic dictionary, and here are my favorites:
First, the best word for our purposes imo; the prefix ‘er-’, which is the possessive ‘my’ used to indicate intimate/romantic relationships
Tumblr media
This word is an utter gift, and you’ll quickly see why. It allows for all kinds of pairings with other fun words, such as:
‘Har’, meaning echo and ‘haurach’, meaning fate.
Tumblr media
So you could call Sylus ‘Erhaurach’, meaning ‘my fate’ ☺️
Or you could pair it with something even cuter like ‘noachi’, and call him ‘Ernoachi’, ‘my little treasure/my dear’
Tumblr media
You can also always incorporate these into fics with dragon!Sylus himself and have him call MC these names of course!
‘Qal’ and ‘qallim’ are also fun, but ‘qallim’ can’t be paired with the ‘er-’ prefix and be grammatically correct. However I still thought it was a fun word and worth looking at.
Tumblr media
These last few before the end (and the word I ultimately stuck with) are more useful for just compliments, but can still work as a nickname (sans the middle, just didn’t want to take two screenshots 😅)! I really love ‘vorastrix’, for obvious lore reasons. Though, unfortunately I didn’t find a word for ‘sorceress’ exactly. The last word I want to mention also has the ‘-strix’ suffix, and its gender-neutral, so I would argue the word works for any gender.
Tumblr media
And lastly, this is the word I decided to use with the ‘er-’ prefix, and it just fits so perfectly;
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So now, you can call Sylus ‘my dragon’ while simultaneously indicating your relationship status 🥰🥰
But yeah. I just thought this was a really fun and sweet way to honor Sylus’s dragon heritage, while also being really intimate and loving with him. Wanted to share in case anyone else was looking for something more special to call him. Have fun and mix and match as you like! 💕

VICTORY OVER THE SUN
A collaborative effort of many Left-Futurist artists, the play "Victory Over the Sun" premiered in 1913 in St. Petersburg. Suprematist pioneer Kazimir Malevich designed costumes and sets, which were mostly cubist designs, per that era of the Russian avant-garde. Futurist artist Eli Lissitzky praised the play a decade later as a celebration of human technological development.
Audiences hated the play so fucking much they rioted.
Out of the many wacky aspects of the play, much of the text was written in "zaum," or "trans-rational," a purposefully nonsensical dialect meant to deconstruct the logic of language.
(Pictured above: a poster by Eli Lissitzky promoting the play, with text reading "all is well that begins well and has not ended" in Russian)

The Neogic Life (New Logic. New Culture. New World.)
Neogic [noun/adjective]
Pronunciation: nee-o-jik
IPA: /ˈniː.o.dʒɪk/
Main definition -
Neogic refers to a method, mindset, thought process, or worldview that is rooted in fresh, untraditional, non-conforming logic — typically influenced by modern culture, rapid change, digital consciousness, or futuristic perspectives.
It describes thinking not bound by legacy systems, old societal norms, or classical ways — and instead driven by innovation, adaptability, originality, or individual evolution.
Simplified definition -
Neogic means new-world logic — ways of thinking or solving that break from old traditions and embrace fresh, modern, independent approaches.
Usage examples -
“That solution wasn’t just smart — it was neogic. No textbook would’ve taught that.”
“We need neogic thinking if we want to survive this chaotic decade.”
“Her design was driven by neogic instincts — not trend reports.”
“Rejecting both capitalism and minimalism, he followed a neogic path of his own.”
“It’s a neogic age. Logic isn’t what it used to be — and that’s a good thing.”
Examples of what can be referred to as "Neogic” -
A Gen-Z entrepreneur launching a startup by ignoring traditional business rules.
An artist mixing AI with hand-drawn sketches to create new aesthetics.
A student building a self-taught, custom curriculum outside the education system.
A public speaker promoting emotional freedom over formal etiquette in communication.
Philosophies that prioritize mental health, inclusivity, decentralization, and innovation.
Additional info -
Word Type :
Noun: Neogic is the future
Adjective: A neogic idea, neogic energy, neogic culture
Adjective use (primary) -
This is where neogic shines the most.
Meaning: Describes something that reflects or follows “new-world logic” or untraditional innovation.
examples -
A neogic solution to climate change.
Her fashion sense is so neogic.
It’s a neogic mindset — bold, unfiltered, free.
This use feels instinctive, smooth, and natural — perfect for creative culture, self-branding, futuristic discussions, etc.
Noun use (secondary, but realistic) -
This works when you treat “Neogic” as a concept, philosophy, or belief system.
examples -
He doesn’t believe in tradition anymore — only Neogic.
Neogic is what drives today’s most disruptive thinkers.
They built an entire movement around Neogic.
Here, it’s more ideological — like a movement, school of thought, or personal belief.
Other forms -
Neogically (adverb) — She thinks neogically, not traditionally.
Neogician (noun) — A thinker who lives by neogic principles.
Neogicist (noun) — Like a futurist, but more grounded in neogic design or ideas.
Origin & Timestamp -
Term, originally by @usernameisaryan, 17.
All word variations — neogically, neogician, neogicist — were created as part of a modern linguistic and cultural movement.
This post serves as the first timestamped record of the term and its intended philosophy.
Any future usage should credit this origin. Neogic is more than a word — it’s a mindset.

Affixes, Clitics, and Particles
i think that these parts of language are really cool! so im going to try to explain them :D also i definitely did not get sent down an hours long rabbit hole of linguistic papers and i also definitely didn't find out that the reason i wanted to make this post is actually a misconception :D i love ignoring things :D
Affixes:
the wikipedia article for affixes says that "in linguistics, an affix is a morpheme that is attached to a word stem to form a new word or word form."
in hopefully simpler terms, this basically means that an affix is a letter, or a group of letters that form a single sound or syllable, that is attached to a word stem to form a new word or word form.
some examples of these are the somewhat well known prefix and suffix, but also the beloved infix:
prefix: undone suffix: spotless infix: abso-fucking-lutely
sidenote: my favorite thing about english infixes is that they pretty much only work with expletives. in fact, there's a tom scott video about expletive infixations!
Clitics:
wikipedia defines a clitic as such: "a clitic is a morpheme that has syntactic characteristics of a word, but depends phonologically on another word or phrase."
in layman's terms: a clitic is a letter, or a group of letters that form a single sound or syllable, that has the function of a word in a sentence, but depends on another word or phrase based on the sound rules of the language.
a few examples of clitics can be seen in finnish (which also has a great many affixes but we're not talking about those right now):
-ko/k -han/hän -pa/pä -kin
the spelling of the clitic depends on vowel harmony. if you want to learn more, this dissertation is all about finnish clitics!
you may be asking yourself how to tell the difference between clitics and other parts of speech. well this study has just the thing for you! quite a few tests are suggested by the author of this study if you want to be able to tell if something is a clitic or not, including some of the following:
a phonological test observe how the clitic forms a phonological unit with an independent word. (do not ask me how this one works i dont know) accentual test "clitics are accentually dependent, while full words are accentually independent." put simply, if you can't put stress on it, it's probably a clitic syntactic test a word can stand on its own and be subject to normal word processes such as tense changes while a clitic cannot do this
Particles:
"'Particle' is a cover term for items that do not fit easily into syntactic and semantic generalizations about the language[.]"
read: "particle" is a miscellaneous, catch all term for anything that doesn't fit into the above two categories (or any other word categories like nouns, verbs, etc.)
the author of this study (who i'm going to refer to as Zwicky from now on because it's easier) says that theres no such thing as a particle and that its distinction from affixes, clitics, words, and clauses is unnecessary. i think thats an. interesting take.
anyway even though Zwicky just said theres no such thing as particles (which, how could he do that? theres kids around! we dont want to ruin the magic!) he concedes that there is actually a group of words that are commonly called particles that he agrees are actually particles. but he decides to call them discourse markers instead. because fuck you.
i dont like any of the words that Zwicky included so i made a list of my own:
-ね (ne) eh (canadian english) innit (common transcription of "isn't it", british english)
the funny thing is im coming out of this still not entirely clear on what a particle is. i thought i knew, i did some research, realized i didnt know, and now i'm here. based on how Zwicky puts it, it feels like the category of "particle" exists to accommodate the fact that there might be words* that arent affixes, clitics, words, or clauses but it feels like Zwicky is just being contrary. I should probably have done more research but this post was supposed to be done 24 hours ago.
out of context highlights from my research process: - sanskrit - the panini rule - doch - verbosely long section titles
*i dont actually mean words, i mean a morpheme which is a letter or a group of letters that form the representation of one sound that carries meaning, but i didn't want to make that sentence long and unreadable
if i'm wrong, please tell me! i would appreciate being corrected, i know i am not an expert on this topic in the slightest.

It's so weird saying that as a high school, I did fashion school because you'd have to be familiar with the Italian high school system to understand what I meant.
Because to someone else, it would probably look like I didn't do a normal high school, while in reality, it had everything that a normal high school has, subjects wise, plus they also taught you how to draw fashion collections, and create clothes from scratch.
There were also subjects very specific to this type of school, like marketing and textile chemistry, while in English, which was the second language, we would do history of the various fashion periods plus the stylists, but also there's a kind of prejudiced view around these type of high schools (they're called professional schools)

we're in someone's ancient past
Does anyone ever wonder how historians hundreds or thousands of years from now will talk about events we're living through?
Imagine reading a history book in the 30th century explaining the addition of the word "yeet" to the English language.

I hope you don't mind me asking two thing back to back, but for the reverse unpopular opinion ask game.
What piece of PMD lore/story just doesn't sit right / doesn't make sense with you?
Not at all! Love getting asks, thank you! :3
The one piece of lore that’s always bothered me a bit is how they handle humans in the series. Imo it’s just a little confusing and odd. Now for the positive! By leaving it vague, it really hands over the lore to the fans—how do humans live in this world? Are they common, or are you one of/the only one left? Do they tend to live side by side with pokemon, or are they more separate than in the main series? Where did Hero come from? What happened to their family? Etc etc. Plus, in Explorers, the idea of there being humans around, but you not seeing ANY in the Dark Future really adds to the oppressive and heavy nature. It helps show it’s such a harsh world that only the most feral of pokemon can truly thrive.
