✨BG3: Gale Dekarios X Reader Gender Neutral (Tav) Headcanons🔮
Fluff above line & NSFW below line
(No Physical Descriptions of Reader Tav)
Fluff:
-His love language outwardly is definitely Acts of Service just a smidge more than the others. Every morning without fail, he has your beverage of choice prepared just the way you like it.
-His love language inwardly is Quality Time. Your sweet words and kind acts mean so much to him, but all he truly needs is for you to just be there with him. He loves teaching you things he studied when he was alone because when he connects to that moment in the weave, and sees his lonely studious self in the tower, he also sees his contented smiling self with you.
-Parchment is limited out here. The neglected books however, are in abundance. So as much as it pains him at times to deface literature- he finds somewhat empty pages in the forgotten books- and he writes love letters to you. Poems about you. Simple musings. Nothing he plans to show you. But you’re consuming his thoughts as much as the orb consumes weave. He needs to do something about it. So he writes. Pours it all out into the ink.
-The Mold Earth Cantrip allows you to create shapes and colors that form a message and/or image in the earth up to 5 feet, among other things.
Gale would catch you staring at the ground while trekking. Seeing the exhaustion and possible sadness on your face, he casts mold earth to cheer you up. You stop in your tracks when the image of your sweet boy, Scratch the dog, made of delicate white flowers appears in the grass. You smile and Gale’s heart swells with accomplishment and happiness.
-Gale would love the idea of a secret code. It’s not like time or resources are on your side on the road, so he uses alchemical ingredients to talk to you. He places a piece of dried Mergrass in your book to say “what are your thoughts on this?” He leaves balsam on your pillow after you’ve helped him realize he’s meant for greater things than sacrificing himself, to say “you’ve helped me heal.” Some of them are more cryptic and suggest that the code is more for him to express his feelings for you subtly, than to communicate with you. Such as the time he put Autumncrocus in your shoes. He thought he was so clever saying “you make me feel as though I’m walking on air.”
-While exploring one day, a shiny glint in the dirt catches his eye. It’s a silver locket with a blue stone in it. The chain is broken and it’s got dirt in all the crevices. He stashes it while no one’s looking since it’s clearly not going to put coin in the party’s pocket. When he’s back at camp, he’d secretly tinker with the item. Using Prestidigitation to clean all the dirt out, changing the color of the stone to a deep purple shade, and using Mending to fix the broken chain. It’s almost perfect. He asks Shadowheart to place some type of protective glyph into the locket. Now he would just need to find the right time to give it to you.
-If you were cold, he would have you sit in front of him, in between his legs with your back to his chest, and he’d wrap his arms around you as he reads you a book.
-He would secretly ask Oskar or any artist you’d come across, to do a simple drawing of you. Small enough that he could fit it in his pocket. Sure he can conjure the image of you magically to see your face, but that’s not very subtle. And with how often he wants to see your face? It’s not very practical.
-As much as he’s a yapper, he’s also a listener. He would be so focused on hearing about your interests and hobbies and anything you’d want to talk about. If he gets to hear the sound of your voice while also finding out what makes you happy? There’s no downsides for him.
NSFW BELOW LINE 18+ ONLY
————————————————
-Service Switch vibes. He doesn’t care who is in control. He cares that you’re experiencing all the good things you possibly can that you’ll allow.
-HUGE on consent. You’d often have to place his hands on your body for him to get the message in the beginning because he would never want to cross your boundaries. After some conversations, he would feel more confident that he knew what you like and that you’d communicate with him.
-He gets very turned on watching you wash your clothes in the river or cooking at camp. (even if it’s just boiling water) It makes him picture a life with you at his tower and his possessive nature kicks in.
-Gale had so much time in that tower alone. If he injured a muscle, he let it heal without magic and focused his arcane skills elsewhere. So when you hurt your back one day & refuse to take a healing potion or approach Shadowheart, he helps you the only way he knows how: massage. I strongly believe that Gale Dekarios would be such a skilled masseuse. He offers out of kindness, especially since you’re being so stubborn about helping yourself. But then he gets started. His hands working a luxurious smelling oil into the muscles of your neck, shoulders, and back. It’s when his thumbs press near your lower back that you’re squirming and letting out a small gasp. He pretends not to notice, out of respect for you. But he also doubles down on his efforts, needing to hear that noise from your lips again.
-Gale who refuses to cast Prestidigitation to clean you up after sex unless you request it because he finds it disrespectful towards you. “Do you think so little of me that I would only savor your company while in the throes of pleasure?” And he’d grab a warm, wet cloth and start cleaning you, placing delicate kisses to your collarbone and cheek as he works. He memorizes the image of you like this: blissed out with pleasure, his release painting your thighs, the soft rise and fall of your chest as you catch your breath, your sweet lips, your perfect body. He never wants time with you to end.
-Remember that Mending spell I mentioned? Gale would develop an OBSESSION with ripping your clothes off and fixing it for you afterwards. The carnality of taking you with such recklessness, contrasted with using his magic to tenderly mend your garments. He likes to think each time he rips and repairs it, he’s imbuing part of himself into your garments for you to carry around. That’s why he rips your underwear the most…
-Gale would be into Shibari. He wouldn’t pressure you if that wasn’t your thing. If you were into it, or even just trying it, he’d be happy being the one tying the knots or the one getting tied. The intentionality of the process, quality time, trust, and uniqueness of the experience would all be appealing to him.
-He uses Message to wordlessly communicate with you in a way that you can respond to him as well and others cannot hear your conversation. You two had used it plenty of times before! So when your adventuring party is looting an empty office and Gale whispers “Bend over the desk” it leaves you sputtering and checking the faces of your companions. They’re looking at you strange but Gale is giving you a cheeky wink as his actions go unnoticed. It’s then you realize that he hadn’t said it aloud. You collect yourself and continue looting as he continues speaking in your mind “Would you like that? I could spread you out and eat you right there before claiming you?” Your legs feel like jelly and you grab the nearest surface to steady yourself. Of course it’s the fucking desk. You imagine Gale on his knees behind you, spreading you open and tasting you as his fingers explore your willing body. He coughs loudly and now everyone’s looking at him as you remember- Message works both ways. He just saw the filth you pictured.
-Creampies. Sorry, had to say it. When he’s about to finish, the last thing he wants to do is pull away from your sweet touch. It also stokes his possessive nature. Sometimes, with your permission, he doesn’t clean it up. He simply pulls your undergarments back up and leaves it in you. One morning, it happens right before you’re off to fight a hag. Seeing you slay this malicious hag, saving an innocent victim, all while his cum leaks onto your legs unbeknownst to anyone except you two, it’s enough to have him pulling you to a secluded corridor & having his way with you, using his previous release as lubricant.
-Saving the most random one for last: I believe that if Gale has an intense sex dream when he goes to bed turned on, he projects the dream unknowingly towards his subject of desire (and he’s never found out because 1. They’d have to desire him as well and be near his sleeping form. 2. It wouldn’t have worked on Mystra since she’s like magic incarnate.) So similar to the moment where you can project the idea of kissing to Gale when you’re connected in the Weave. What if he’s so connected to magic, that combined with his desire for you, he’s strong enough to subconsciously tether your minds for moments? Maybe he dreams of fucking you in the Astral Planes and when you wake up you’re like “Man my tadpole dream was so strange last night?” And everyone else is so confused until you say “Gale was there but no one else and..” and he’s pulling you away from the group to talk lol.

But Mystra WASNT right to ask Gale to kill himself. She still told a guy who cared about her "hey. if you love me, destroy yourself for me"
You're right, she did do that. And that's horrible, and shows exactly how little value she places on Gale's life.
And that's the point. She thinks she's in the right. She thinks hurting him is worth everything else she would take out in the process. She thinks she's giving him the best option.
It's very hard, from a mortal perspective, to picture how the gods see things. You can throw analogy after analogy before them to try to comprehend it, but in the end, the gods have power on such a scale that we, as readers and players, do not have an equivalent answer to compare them to.
What we bring to the table, through Tav, is that mortal perspective: we don't care about the greater good of preserving Faerûn's Weave. We don't care about the grand battle between Shar and Selûne that's lasted since the beginning of time. We don't care about the balance of life and death. We're so far beneath eternity-spanning events like that that the here and now are what we care about most.
And that's what the Origins need most. That's what Gale needs most.
Mystra's perspective, what goes on in her head, is a measured, calculated list of facts, weighed against each other:
Gale would do anything for her.
Gale possesses a weapon that needs to be destroyed.
Gale is going to die of that weapon without divine intervention.
The Dead Three are a threat.
The Dead Three have Karsus' crown.
The Dead Three could kill her again.
The scope of her power is such that a single mortal life is worth very little. Ketheric was onto something when he said "We are copper pieces in their belts. Tokens to be traded for scraps." Because that's what Mystra's doing, isn't it? She's cashing in on Gale's devotion to her.
Mystra sees a problem. She realizes she holds the solution. She thinks she's making it right by offering eternity. She fancies herself as being patient and kind by letting that solution choose to work for her.
That's the divine perspective.
The mortal perspective, the perspective that matters most, is best summed up by two lines of Gale and Mystra's conversation in the Stormshore Tabernacle:
Mystra: You discovered what lies at the Heart of the Absolute—the Crown of Karsus—and you disobeyed my instruction. Why?
Gale: Because you had no right to ask that of me!
She didn't. She doesn't.
The divine perspective is the one that lacks love. It lacks the ability to see value in a person, for being a person. It quantifies what worth something has by what it can do for you. And it is dangerous, because it cannot be told it is wrong.
Gale and Mystra were always an unbalanced relationship. When he was young, she was his teacher: she knew things he didn't, withheld them until he was ready to learn them, and directly controlled his interaction with her craft.
When she was his muse, she was the font of his creativity. He made things in her name, for little but attention in return. He gave, and gave, and was wholly devoted to her. Such is the nature of gods that it's foolish to expect them to give back to you at all.
And then she was his lover. And she was untouchable. She cannot be told "no" definitively; the only guarantee that she'll adhere to a "no" is her own personal moral code, or lingering admiration for the person who says it. She can't give herself to someone. She can spend time with them, but she can never give equally. She is a god. She exists to be served.
Gale's life, before the tadpole, was defined by Mystra. He was destined for greatness, spoke personally with Elminster, wielded the Blackstaff—and yet, he says he had no friends, and few colleagues. He's had mortal lovers, but they barely get a footnote in the story of his life. His social circle was "the size of a pinhead."
Mystra, by nature of being a god, intentionally or not, isolated Gale from his peers. You could argue any number of reasons why—my own personal bet being that he was so enamored with her that everyone else fell to the wayside—but he is alone. Even Lorroakan, down in Baldur's Gate, knew about him, and defines him only by nature of his relationship to Mystra.
The nature of gods is that anyone they speak with is now worlds away from anyone once called friends. How do you hold conversations with people when you're everyone at the table's god's favorite?
Mystra's very presence eroded away Gale over time. His friendships suffered. His joy in mortal sides of himself withered. His outlook on his own merits was restricted to what he could do with the magic at his command—did Mystra only see value in that, or did his peers and former lovers only care for what she gifted him? Both are likely. Especially with this line in his romance: "To know you love me for the man I am, and not the magic I command—none have loved me so purely."
And that isolation tore him open after his claim of the Netherese Orb, because he locked himself in his tower for a year. He didn't have those connections to reach out and ask for help, because being a god's lover burned that all away.
And then, after silence, after her fury leading to his terrified misery, after he thinks he's going to die any day, she comes in with a double-edged sword, putting the Orb to rest, at last, while telling him to fall to it anyway. The power imbalance is on full display, here: her expectations are so unrealistic that it will destroy him, in the name of forgiveness. If he loves her, he should give everything for her.
And he is going to do it.
There's such a tangled mess of emotions that explode from that.
She stabilized him. She could have done that whenever. She didn't, because it didn't serve her needs.
A year of silence, Gale thinking she'd taken everything from him and Mystra not caring enough to explain otherwise, and the first thing she says is die.
He's a pawn. Literally. She wants him to go to the other side of the board and trade his life for the winning move.
He doesn't want to die. But he's terrified that that's what's best for the world.
The divine perspective is that he gets what he deserves. The divine perspective is that she's being merciful, because she's giving him a home afterwards with her.
The mortal perspective is that she's cruel. That this is cruel. That Gale is only worth what he can give to her. That his death is more useful than his life. That ending that beautiful man with all his wants, and hopes, and dreams, at the drop of a pin, is nothing to her.
If you explode Gale at Moonrise, the Sword Coast falls to the Mindflayers. Mystra is a god, she can see that outcome. But she is a god of magic, and as such, it's not her problem. Her problem has been dealt with.
Let me go back to Withers' question:
Withers: And so, I ask again: what is the worth of a single mortal life?
Tav: Each life is of infinite value and merits sacrificing everything for.
Withers: And thus, balance is achieved.
Mystra cannot answer this question correctly. A single mortal life could never be worth the sacrifice in her eyes. She uses people as a means to an end, because the ends justify the means retroactively to her. Dornal Silverhand's suffering and Elué Silverhand's death begot her seven powerful Chosen. Two people for the wellbeing of many. She'll continue to use people like this, because that's what she is. That's what godhood entails.
Gale could likely answer this question properly, though not act on it perfectly. If his Netherese blight could save people, even if it's terrifying, he would blow himself up. He has to be talked down from it. He doesn't realize that he is one of those lives of infinite value.
What about God Gale? Can he answer it?
Of course not. He wouldn't sacrifice his godhood to come back home to mortality. He looks down on mortal life. He thinks he's above it. He, a newly minted god, is a perfect window into the basis of how gods perceive things.
Mystra asking Gale to kill himself betrays her lack of value in him as a person. Like God Gale, she looks down on mortality, just much, much more subtly. He's a means to an end. All mortals are.
Pawn to Cleric Four.
#bg3#gale dekarios#gale of waterdeep#mystra#long post#ask bee#there's also something to be said of the player being literally put into mystra's shoes at the end#gale could blow up the brain. he could save everyone. for you#he offers it#and you could be the new Mystra and tell him to do it#god gale is a great parallel to gale's past with mystra before the orb. but tav is a parallel to AFTER the orb

BUCKLE UP KIDS! you are about to read my magnum opus: my explanation for how each of the muses on this blog fit into my thesis that scream is about misogyny. i’m going to try not to get too ramble-y, but this is something i’m very passionate about. let’s start from the very beginning, shall we?
casey - women’s promiscuity must be punished. i see a lot of parallels between casey and maureen; both were not faithful partners (see casey lying about having a bf to the voice on the phone), both are the victims of brutal, very targeted deaths as a result. i hands down think casey has the most violent death in the first film. it’s not enough to kill her — no, they torment her first. make her watch her bf die, force her to answer a series of questions in the vain hope she might save her own/steve’s lives. stu is bitter about casey dumping him, just like billy is bitter about maureen prescott having an affair with his father. as a result? they are slaughtered mercilessly.
sidney - it is always a woman’s fault, and women can be interchangeable. it takes two to tango; maureen did not slip and fall on hank’s dick, he chose to have an affair that pushed his wife away. as far as we know however, hank lives until the end of the movie. he faces no punishment from his son. but it’s not enough to kill maureen and leave her daughter without a mother; that rage seeps into how billy views sidney. she has done nothing wrong, but she receives the same ire and almost faces a similar fate for it. it’s very akin to how a misogynist will paint women as a whole with one broad stroke because of the actions of one. and THEN! mrs. loomis has the AUDACITY to blame sidney for billy’s deplorable actions which resulted in his own death. even when a man is to blame, the finger is pointed at a woman.
tatum - what happens when women put their foot down. tatum takes no bullshit the entire movie. she is not afraid to be mean, she is not afraid to insert herself between sidney and people that she believes do not have sid’s best intentions at heart (gale, other reporters in town, billy himself). tatum, imo, dies because of girl code: there was no way in hell she was going to let sidney be alone with billy. he makes sid feel bad about herself and her boundaries, he makes sid question her trauma and grieving process. tatum flat out says she thinks he’s fucking fishy bc he comes across as too perfect. so she had to go! she is disposable, and stu is later on seen flirting with other girls after sending her out to her death.
sam - mentally ill women are maligned and made to feel guilty for their own mistreatment. richie is basically billy 2.0 — he gaslights and manipulates his gf the entire film. he shames her for her mental health struggles, paints her as a villain because of her psychosis and her familial trauma. then, his family gangs up on sam and continues to torment her for defending herself against richie. not only that, they led an internet hate mob against her; the public is so eager and willing to hate a woman for her own misfortunes. society has a history of abusing and harassing women that have been victims of despicable behavior, and sam falls in line with pattern of mistreated ladies. it’s so similar to what happened to sidney in two, with the added aspect of a twitter audience joining in on her abuse.
#reposting this bc the personals found my metas and i'm ....... not happy tbh#but we're just getting to the good partㅤ🔪ㅤ.#headcanons🔪ㅤ.#PERSONALS DO NOT TOUCH

˖ ⚡️ # 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐛𝐨𝐥𝐭 is a highly selective & private writing blog feat. 𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐬𝐡𝐢 𝐚𝐬𝐡 𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐮𝐦 of the ( 1997 - 2023 ) pokeani series. inspiration taken from the indigo league, gotta catch 'em live, many to all films, & personal headcanons. playlist.
a majestic tale within THE WONDERFUL WORLD of pokemon. one young boy dreams to be the VERY BEST &. to become pokemon master. through hard trials of fate &. brave determination, crowns him as a TRUE hero &. BORN champion.

001. hello fellow trainer! welcome to my blog where i write my beloved little ashy boy. i have enjoyed pokemon since the tender age of five & to this very day, yellow & gale of darkness being my personal favorite games! i have been rping for 15+ years and have yet to get out of this chair. my blog is strictly selective & private, so i will only interact with my mutuals. i will not be responding back to the following messages: want to rp? can we be mutuals? etc. i'm sure you are an amazing writer with wonderful muse(s) but this is my decision to follow, please do not take it personally if i don't follow back, as this is due to comfort & to keep a tidy dashboard. i will end up soft blocking when i deem it necessary: if i find your muse makes me feel uncomfortable all of a sudden, i never found our muses could connect, or if the dash is clogged as i do ghost a lot. i don't have high standards, but there are somethings i do take on direct level when it comes to rping. i won't be following hub blogs as well. if you have sides, i will look through them but they must be pinned in order for me to browse them.
002. i am crossover & original character friendly. however i must have some info of your oc & any verses they have before we can write together. i also need to know what series your muse(s) originate from for better understanding & writing perspective, as this makes my life a whole lot easier to know what we can do during interactions. i would love to partake in any kind of plotting, though i am a very lax role player & it isn't necessary. this goes without saying, but godmodding, metagaming & powerplay is forbidden. there can be some exceptions, but this does not allow you to have full control while we write.
003. please do not pressure me for replies, i work a 40+ hour job in a stressful environment. i also have add/adhd, so i get distracted very easily. i also forget a lot & feel swamped most times. i only write when i am motivated & have enough energy. with all that being said, my inbox & dms are always open for any new interactions. just be patient when & if i am sporadic with them.
004. i won't be writing any nsfw as my muse is plot locked at the age of 10 in canon. there may be dark scenes that may contain death however, as my muse does indeed die a few times during the series. this will be on the most rarest occasions, or may not be present at all. i don't tag triggers, but if need be i can & will. just give me a holler if anything needs to be tagged correctly.
005. length varies to what i can come up with & what my writing partners bring to the table. this doesn't mean you ever have to match up with mine. i enjoy making stories at times & this all ties down to reply speed. format is small text with html color coding. you can format our threads however you like, so long as it is readable. also, please trim your posts for my poor ocd brain.
006. this blog contains multishipping in different timelines and verses. good chemistry & enough interactions are required for any dynamic questions, but never be afraid to ask if you want something planned as i am open for romantic/familial/platonic ships. i don't practice exclusives but i do with mains.
007. no drama. no hate. no name drops. if i see anything of sort in the inbox or dms, it will be deleted upon arrival. role play is a hobby & for fun, let's keep it that way. so please, do not harass any of my writing partners. if you are wary of someone i interact with however, you may politely inform me. but i absolutely will not tolerate for personal disliking towards another. anonymous asks are forever closed simply for me to focus on threads & in my opinion, i had never found anons enjoyable to answer.
008. my open starters & prompts are available always! you may also continue an answered ask without question. if sending an inbox message for one of his partners, please please specify who you want or i will pick at random. this goes for my starter calls as well. i will be sticking to english dub pokemon names, as this is easiest for me. if you want to know/read about ash, his pokemon and verses you must click on the floating links on my theme. do note: i did not play scarlet & violet very much (the game was just too unplayable for me my b) so like ash, i am unknowing of the paldea region. in a way, that's a win-win tbh. i am not at all associated with the pokemon rpc nor will i write battles. i'm just here to chill & vibe with my favorite son shine. best wishes!

Hey Gale simps, can I introduce you to a new fun dynamic for the wizard and your Tav? (Wether you're looking for Tav inspo or need new stuff to write, I gotchu)
Hear me out; Oathbreaker Tav x Gale Dekarios. I'll elaborate;
(Spoilers for BG3 below the cut)

Gale meets this paladin, strong willed, entirely committed and not to mention, ever so easy on the eyes. But- Gale can't help but admire the commitment to the oath. Something he realises he had taken a little too lightly. He was committed to the weave and learning it- but he never quite had a code. Merely what would please Mystra, and even then, he'd managed to be wrong. Maybe if he was also threatened to lose his connection to the weave, he'd have been more careful.
But then, one of these days- (however works best for your Tav) the oath breaks. On his behalf. The circumstance was this or death for Gale, and Tav chose...him. At first Gale assumed it was a miscalculation of odds, that they somehow forgot Elminster paused the whole detonating thing- that maybe Tav had slipped up. But- no.
"I'd do it again." They say, so sure. "In a heartbeat."
It doesn't make sense. They could defeat the absolute without him. Easily. He wasn't necessary for this anymore, merely an asset, same as their oath. He wasn't worth it- he'd worried their nights spent in the same tent had muddled their brain, that they somehow thought he was irreplaceable over it.
"Nothing I've committed to will ever be worth more than your life. And I don't care if my order finds that selfish."
And there sits Gale of Waterdeep. He who had fallen from far higher graces for even the chance to please his muse. Now unsure how to process someone who could be punished with the loss of power entirely, loss of an entire order, loss of so many rites that they deserved given their commitment until now- doing the same for him?
He understood less why Mystra felt the way she did. Although, Mystras life didn't depend on what Gale did. And Gale was never going to lose his connection to the weave over failing. He could understand the anger over watching someone with potential give it up so quickly.
But watching someone fall from ultimate grace, sacrifice everything they knew and had for him? He cannot fathom a greater act of love.
(My Tav (Azaezel) and Gale, below)

In honor of 4/20, I really want to think about Gale getting high. Not just weed/Faerûn's equivalent of it, but just like... idk, I believe very firmly, at least in his younger days (and not-so-younger days), Gale was up for literally anything psychedelic. Pushing the boundaries of sensory experience and possibly cultural/social mores? SO up his daredevil deviant deathwish alley.
omg yes
I have had some musings on Gale being high here and here (for the readers at home, i'm pretty sure one of these is a reply to you tbh lmao). This will be a little rambly because so much of this is tied to a series of headcanons I have based around Gale's personal openness and his religious trauma.
Gale is inherently creative, a free thinker, and he's very tactile seeking. Hell, he's sensory seeking in general. He's incredibly curious about other cultures, even when it's unrelated to his own crisis, and some of his inspiration comes from admiring local customs. I think that all lends itself to be open to drugs, magic drugs, or whatever magical/folkloric customs would be equivalent to our non DnD experience with altered consciousness...
(two additional paragraphs below)
Additionally, I do think he has that kind of Ripper/Giles dichotomy within himself (for Buffy fans) and a kind of Adam Parrish relationship to doom and danger within his academically grounded but desperately ambitious as a means of saving his life personal code (for Stiefvater Raven Cycel fans). One of my favorite headcanons is that he facilitates some form of magical drug use/study boons/etc and makes a little profit off that in school (this is tied to my headcanon that the Dekarios clan has a good name and tangible shows of prosperity but are likely house poor, floating on good graces, potential, etc).
I go back and forth on whether it's more interesting/narratively sound for Mystra to encourage psychedelic experiences because they might offer her more control/make her Chosens easier to manipulate/make Gale specifically less power concentrated OR if this is another layer to the kind of cruel, cold abstinence she seems to press into Gale. That sort of as experimental as she is oppressed vibe that comes from the crossroads of religious tyranny/abuse and academic as a systemic arm of that control. Which also ties into my personal headcanon that Gale's other mortal relationships pre Tav in the game's canon were maybe not this open mutual understanding between himself and Mystra but Mystra essentially telling him it was something he must/should/had to do (or even as a tool of manipulation, bringing others closer to her, allowing her to spy on sorcerors or something, blah blah blah).

Miri-
I don't know much about you, I'm sorry. All I heard was that you were a fighter, brave and fierce, and that Gale loves you so. I wanted to say... thank you? I suppose? I know, it's out of the blue, and you're probably completely baffled right now, so I can only apologize. But Gale is so wonderful. He is so brilliant and kind and he deserves someone who will lift his spirits.
But you deserve Gale, too. I know he wouldn't stay with someone who didn't treat him with the utmost care and affection, not anymore. So I know he's in good hands. He is my dear, dear friend, and I am so glad to see him happy. But that he makes you happy too, that's important.
You take care of one another, you hear? If he gets on your nerves, come by for a chat and a treat. I'm outside the city, near Cloakwood's edge. Left at the faerie ring. You're welcome anytime.
-Your friend
Miri’s relaxing in the late evening sun on the tower balcony when Corvus arrives with a letter strapped to his leg. She wasn’t expecting a new contract from the Confluence any time soon, so she’s perplexed when she takes the note from him. Miri offers the dire raven a series of affectionate scritches in reward for the delivery and the great bird crows happily.
Her confusion mounts when she opens the letter. Not the usual coded message - and not a note from a packmate either. Something written in Common, and in an unfamiliar hand, no less.
“Who...?” Miri squints as she tries to parse through the words. But so much of it is vocabulary she hasn’t learned yet. She recognizes her name at the opening. And Gale’s name numerous times. “Sorry...fight, brave...lo-ve...”
Miri growls tersely as her frustration trying to read mounts. Note in hand, she swings her legs over the seat to stride into the study in search of her mate.
“Fenor?”
“Over here, my love.” Gale’s voice answers from the seating around the fireplace further inside the room. She finds him reading a thick tome by firelight, but he looks up as she approaches with a warm smile and eyes glittering in the warm glow. His expression shifts when he notes her mood and the paper in hand. “From Talmeria? Something amiss?”
“No, not Talmeria,” Miri returns with a shake of her head, glancing to the writing once more. Unfamiliar, and certainly not in the Confluence’s style. “I am not sure who from.”
Miri proffers the letter to him, causing him to raise a curious brow. But when he catches a glimpse they furrow with a confusion.
“Who would write you in Common?” Gale questions with a curious murmur. Those thoughtful eyes flit back and forth quickly as they scan the note.
“I am unsure,” Miri returns, “Could you read it to me?”
“Of course, my love.”
Gale obliges, shifting the tome from his lap to the side table. Then he stands and accepts the note, clearing his throat softly.
“Hmm. 'Miri', it starts. 'I don't know much about you...'”
He reads the note aloud, in his rich, soothing voice. Miri sits on the arm of the chair as she listens, watching Gale move about the room and gesticulate as he orates. Brown eyes flit up to Miri on occasion to ensure she’s not missed any words. Her Common has come a long way, to his great pride, but there were still hiccups every now and then.
As he works through the note, a look of growing intrigue falls over the wizard’s features. He turns to her with a curious hum once he finishes the letter, eyebrows drawing up.
“It seems a stranger has written a letter of appreciation. About you and me, no less. And, rightfully, how I am lucky to have you,” he muses, lips curling up into a warm smile once more.
Miri looks back to him with a soft, but quizzical smile, her lips twisting slightly.
"What would possess someone to do that?" She wonders. "Why would they want to meet me?"
“Perhaps they’re an admirer of us both?” Gale theorizes, sounding a bit amused by the idea. He glances down at the letter, as if reading it again might provide further insight.
“Or…” Gale’s gaze refocuses, finding Miri’s bright eyes again. His expression softens. “Perhaps they’re hoping to get to know the person who has captured my heart.”
He steps closer, lifting his free hand to gently brush his knuckles over Miri’s freckled cheek. Miri leans into the contact. Her gaze softens as it meets his, though her brows remain furrowed with her lingering suspicion.
Gale’s hand slides back to thread into her hair, his fingers brushing against her neck. He gives the woven coils a soft tug - a silent request to come closer. Miri stands, winding her arms around his waist. Her hold is protective and possessive as she gazes up at him with a somewhat serious expression and blazing bright eyes.
“I can tell you’re troubled,” Gale speaks softly, as his eyes search her face. “You’ve got your ‘suspicious face’ on. What are you thinking?”
"I am unfamiliar with these customs," she murmurs softly. She takes a step closer, pressing tighter into his embrace. "I cannot help but be wary of a stranger's attention."
Gale wraps his arms loosely around her, pulling her close against his chest. His warmth, his scent surrounding her - a comfort. He can’t resist leaning in to plant a kiss against her forehead, his eyes falling shut as he breathes her in.
“I don’t blame you in the least, my love. With the way people have treated you, you’re right to be wary,” he assures her in a gentle murmur. Gale pulls her closer still, until his chin rests atop her head. “And I wouldn’t want anything to make you feel unsafe. You want me to toss the letter in the fire?”
Miri shakes her head. A small, endeared smile tugs at Gale’s lips. His hands smooth languid circles against her back.
“I understand.” He leans back to meet her gaze, his eyes full of patient warmth and deep affection. “I’m admittedly not particularly enthusiastic about strangers having an interest in us either. But I can’t help but want to know who they are. Don’t you?” Miri's hands tighten against him slightly and she huffs a sharp breath.
"They claim to be a dear friend of yours," she returns, still suspect. "I have contacts in Cloakwood... Perhaps I will send a message."
Gale huffs a soft, quiet laugh through his nose. He can’t help but love her protective instincts.
“Ah, my fierce protector, always with one paw between me and danger.” He gently pinches her chin between forefinger and thumb, tilting it up with a warm smile on his lips. “You’re adorable.”
Miri snorts a soft laugh, giving him a wry, chastising look.
"Be serious," she chides, though she can't suppress her half smile.
He feigns a pout, though his eyes gleam with a familiar mischief.
“I am serious,” he protests, gently pulling them closer together until not even a hint of space remains between them. “You are adorable. And I love you. It’s very serious.”
He leans in to press a light kiss to her forehead and against her cheek. Another, against her jaw. And lower, against her throat. His voice is a breath against her skin.
“Truly, I’m deathly serious…”
Miri looses a peal of giggles before she’s lost in his embrace for the next few hours. But in the morning, she sends Corvus off with a letter (in Elvish) to a friend in Cloakwood - another ranger faithful to Mielikki.

And this lays at the core of Tav’s story who lost Gale to sneaky godhood.
Tav loved him with everything they had and were but for the human he was, not for his ambitions or his magic. It was Gale Dekarios who they were/ are absolutely devoted to.
And godhood, for Tav, was off the table, never ever an option. Tav is driven by care and love for the natural world, it’s balance of life and death and the nature between. The people and the creatures, everything that is alive and green and beautiful.
Immortality, godhood, was never meant for mortal beings and Tav was never tempted by it. Caring and living takes patience and Tav learned it. So it had been easy to decline Gale’s offer for ascension. There had never been a choice for them anyways. In fact Gale’s plans for the crown and his offer had scared Tav more than they had been willing to admit. And a tiny voice, so tiny it had been deliciously easy to ignore, had whispered of danger, had pleaded Tav not to dismiss his wishes for ascensions and the path he treaded on. A path that could lead into so much pain. The only path Tav was unwilling and unable to follow him on.
But he had smiled at Tav, he had kissed them and had loved them and had said that they were enough for him. That he could not believe his luck that fate had brought them together and it had been so much more enjoyable to just savour his sweet words and kisses and love than to wonder if there was more that he wasn’t saying out loud.
And on the day the brain fell and Gale turned away from Tav and the future they had dreamed about, was he now going down the only path where Tav could and would not follow him.
So Tav stayed behind and watched him leave. Fell to their knees as their heart got ripped out of their soul, as it got ripped apart because Gale would always hold it in his hands. Would always have it. Wherever he would go, whatever he would become would he have Tav’s heart.
Look I love unconditional devotion love stories as much as the next person, but there's really something so deliciously raw about conditional devotion.
I have served you and I have loved you for decades, but I will not give up my principles for you. You cut out part of my heart and took it with you down that path that you insist on walking, but you walk it alone. Even when the bleeding, gaping hole you left in my chest kills me, I will not follow you.
#ahhh would you look at that another gale x tav sneaky god edition coded post#gale x tav coded#gale x tav coded musings#sneaky god gale#god gale#gale x tav#gale angst#bg3 angst#bg3#baldurs gate 3#baldur's gate 3#bg3 druid#druid tav
