-You separate yourself from them, politely asking they don’t do that.

-“Oh c’mon. Dance with me, I’ll make you sway.” The person says.

-A very uncomfortable look appears on your face. The person wouldn’t leave you alone and wouldn’t give you space.

-This doesn’t go unnoticed by Zhongli. He sees everything that’s happening.

-Carefully opening up his suit, he yawns as he pulls out a stone.

-He nonchalantly flicks the rock at the person. Purposely making sure enough force was used to shoot the pebble straight at the person to knock them unconscious.

-You look straight at Zhongli, “SERIOUSLY?! EVERY TIME?!” You stare at him in disbelief.

-Xiao keeps very close to you. There is no way in hell he’s going to let you get hurt.

-Though, he does try to respect your space. He keeps maybe, 5-8 feet away from you.

-What can he say? He just doesn’t want you to get hurt. He can’t lose you like he lost the other Yaksha. It would really feel like he was dying if he lost you. 

-So when someone comes up to you, saying very explicit things and lightly touching your body, Xiao immediately runs towards you.

-He straight up laments this person’s ass while calling them a demon.

-“How dare you touch (Y/N) so inappropriately, demon!”

-“Xiao stop! You’re going to kill them!” You try to grab him.

-Takes about 17 people to get Xiao off the poor beaten up person.

-You sigh as you grab his hand and leave the party. “Xiao what the hell. Why would you beat up someone?”

-“Why not? They were touching you inappropriately. They don’t deserve to not be beaten.” He argues.

-Rolling your eyes, a cheeky smile makes its way to your face, “Whatever, Xiao. Just don’t do it again.”

-“Not promising anything.” He replies.

Venti

-Venti trusts you. He’ll stick around you while you talk to people. Sometimes he’ll leave your side for a drink or two, but he tries his best not to get carried away.

-After all, he needs to remain conscious to protect you in case you need it.

-But one more drink wouldn’t hurt him, would it?

-He politely excuses himself and goes to get a drink. Picking it up, he takes a few sips.

-Before his eyes narrow onto someone.

-He stares as he watches a person come up to you. They try offering you a drink.

-“No thank you, I’m good.” You politely say. This person gave you the creeps. There was no way in all of Teyvet you would EVER take a drink from this person. You’d rather drink from a menstrual cup.

-A slightly angered face appears on Venti as the person wouldn’t leave you alone. He finally has enough and makes his way to you.

-Using the wind, Venti lifts himself up to the person’s ear, “If you don’t hippity hoppity on out of here and away from them, I’m gonna bippity boppity your ass out of Teyvet.”

-Childe gives you space. He trusts you a lot. And he knows you can hold up your end in a fight. Although you were never able to beat him personally, he has seen you beat other things up with no problem.

-Don’t get him wrong, he keeps his eyes on you. But at the same time, he too, enjoys the party.

-But that all changes when someone approaches you.

-They were CLEARLY drunk. And for some reason, you reminded them of their ex-spouse Sam somehow.

-They start yelling at you. Calling you awful names like bitch, slut, cheater, etc etc.

-You can’t deal with being yelled at very much. Your eyes start to water as you panic, not knowing how to handle the situation.

-He’s just chillin in the shadows, doing his best to remain unnoticed and low-profiled.

-Don’t underestimate him. He keeps an eagles eye on you.

-As soon as he spots someone suspicious going near you, he strikes.

-Before this person can even get to you, they’re already gone.

-Something must be going on at that party because for some reason, you keep attracting dangerous people.

-Ayato’s eyes narrow as he watches someone walking around you.

-To the untrained eye, this person just looked like they were trying to find their friend.

And just as you wanted to go closer and check who he was texting, you heard the machine Xiao was messing with, he got distracted by whatever his text conversation was.

'What am I doing? I'm supposed to be enjoying here and using the machines, why am I observing him instead.'  you mentally scolded yourself.

But you're too curious to turn away now. Maybe if you hadn't noticed him, then you won't notice any problem.

As you kept staring at him, you were starting to get slightly mesmerized by him, the way he play the claw machine, the way his hair moves, everything about him.

You started getting flustered and felt embarrassed that you started thinking something like that, 'what's happening to me?'

Your heart almost leaped out of your chest when you saw him look your way, "Oh, X-Xiao! It's you! What are you doing here?" Said someone behind you,

Xiao has known pain since the moment he had been born. Pain of torture, pain of dreams, pain of karma, pain of simply existing. Pain had molded him into the Yaksha he was today, the Demon Conqueror, Adeptus Xiao, trusted servant of Rex Lapis. Long he shed the skin of Alatus, a free and young Adeptus, naive and knowing nothing of the pain this world holds.

Never he shifts into his primary form, a majestic bird, bright with colors- something that was no longer him. So he buried Alatus deep in him, hiding behind the Karmatic Pains and the cold mask of Xiao.

Yet... yet when one day, his Karmatic Debt has been lifted of his weary soul, something fluttered in him, Alatus fluttered in him. Longing for freedom, to stretch his wings again and simply fly.

Xiao immediately buried the sudden urge to transform and continued his war path on demons and monsters alike. And still he could not shake his shock and unpleasant surprise of the emerging Alatus, all while his Karmic Debt simply vanished.

He is paranoid, waiting for something to happen, for Rex Lapis suddenly being alive again, for another god- just something.

But nothing happened.

Well, that was not entirely right, but the changes happened days and weeks after. His Primordial Jade-Winged Spear, gifted by his master, former master, pierced the flesh of monsters with more ease. His anemo abilities became stronger, much stronger. He himself too. His stamina increased, something that shouldn't even be possible- Xiao is and was always at his peak ability, body and vision alike.

And then- the voice.

Soft and without any malice in his ear, praising and cheering on him, all while guiding him through the chaos of battle. Oh, how suspicious and on guard he had been in the beginning, fearing his life, his immortal life and waiting for another vicious master, shaping him into a weapon.

But the voice wasn't anything like that. No, the voice was protecting him, keeping him safe even though he didn't need it, healing him and always talking to him. The voice never heard him answering, so he did his best to follow the voice needs, to feel the fluttering wings of Alatus once again.

a.n: Okay, that noctilucous jade adeptus that I wrote about? I'm having brainrots after catching up with Houseki no Kuni right now, so here you go. suffer with me.

There used to be another adeptus made of gem. Cor Lapis, who found and introduced you to the rest of adepti. Cor Lapis was overjoyed to found someone just like them, and the pair of gems soon became almost inseparable from each other.

Then both of you got shattered during the Archon War.

No one really knows about who that shattered the two gems. Mountain Shaper and some other adepti tracked them down, but were only able to found your pieces, even then you were missing an arm and a leg. All that was left of Cor Lapis was their hand, found hidden in a small crevice.

You searched for them frantically, not caring about the still ongoing war. When the war settled and things started to calm down, none of them adepti were able to persuade you to just let it go. Even Mountain Shaper, the one who found Cor Lapis in the first place, soon gave up, saying that it was like searching a needle in a haystack.

Streetward Rambler, who also lost Guizhong in the war, took you under her wing and introduced them to jewelsmithing. She said that maybe, maybe you will be able to find Cor Lapis' pieces with the networks and connections that this line of work provides. This helped, even just a little. You were able to find pieces of Cor Lapis, though the pieces you found were usually too small and/or too disjointed to be reassembled. Still, you collected them and stored them carefully.

Eventually, erosion started to plague you. You realized it when Moon Carver asked about Cor Lapis' favorite things, but you just blanked. At first you thought you forgot because your arm and leg was replaced, but overtime you even forgot about how Cor Lapis looked like.

Nowadays, you forgot why you were in the jewelsmithing business. Not that you don't enjoy it, making jewelry was something you do to pass time, after all. You had a vague feeling that you were searching for something, but you couldn't really remember. Maybe something unimportant.

You had a hefty collection of cor lapis, but you just stared at them occasionally and then stored them back in their protective boxes. Madame Ping would tell you a story about an adepti that was made of cor lapis, that you were once almost inseparable together. You wondered if the adepti in the story really were you, not just a story that Madame Ping made up.

'Was there really an adeptus that was made of cor lapis?' you pondered as you worked on a commission.

'If so, maybe it would be nice if we could be friends.'

“XIAO!” I screamed as I watched the platform break, shooting us up without him. I felt my heart cracking, like glass. “No, please no, not you too.” The muscle in my chest, pounding relentlessly was threatening to shatter. My face drained of all color, too scared to shed even a tear.

Without thinking, desperately, I plunged after him, arms outstretched to his falling figure, deaf to the screams of my name above me.

His eyes were closed as he succumbed to his doom, in acceptance. The sight pained me as I desperately grasped for him, any part of him, anything at all, wishing for any source of comfort, for him.

I grabbed his hand, pulling him against me, holding him tightly as I felt his sharp intake of breath, and whisper of my name in shock and horror. Nevertheless, his arms wrapped around my body, clinging onto each other desperately.

And I felt peace. Despite falling through the dark with muffled shouts of our friends above us, it was strangely…nice.

I was with him. And he was with me. Nothing else mattered in the moment, just the two of us seeking comfort in each other’s embrace.

I felt a golden light envelope us, wondering if this was what dying felt like, feeling his hold on me tighten.

Suddenly, we were above land again. Worried yells of relief came from all around us as the tension lessened. It all fell deaf to my ears, because the only thing I could focus on, was him.

His eyes were wide with shock, staring at me in utter disbelief, not being able to register someone would go after him, that someone chose to fall with him. That I, chose to fall with him.

The hoarse whisper of my name was drowned in a sudden shout. Silence fell, realizing it was I who yelled at him.

“YOU DUMBASS! I WAS TERRIFIED!” Tears pricked at my eyes as he sighed and hung his head low, avoiding my gaze. “DON’T EVER DO THAT AGAIN.” The tears were flowing now. I had a right mind to slap him across the face but couldn’t bring myself to at his expression.

“Don’t- don’t ever. Do that again.” I choked out. “Y-you hear me, Xiao?”

I cupped my hand over his cheek, forcing those amber eyes into mine. “Please.” My voice was now a tired whisper.

His beautiful eyes, oh those eyes that I find myself drowning in whenever I caught his glance, the eyes I stare dreamily into, the eyes that catch my breath, the ones I’ve fallen so far into that I’ve loved so long, glazed over, water filling those golden pools of light.

The sight pulls at my heart, the world seeming to crash around me as the first tear slipped out those beautiful eyes that have seen too much.

“I- I promise,” he choked out, softly caressing my cheek as we slowly slumped to the floor, holding one another like it was just us, only us. Nothing else mattered, he was safe, and we were together.

“Xiao..?” “Yes?” “I love you.” “I- I love…you too..”

It was just the two of us, and nothing else mattered.
