I'm sorry, I can't deal with the svsss anime 3d style, I can't take it even slightly seriously lmaoooo. It looks so hideous next to the gorgeous 2d mdzs and tgcf, with their flowing robes and ribbons and exquisite lighting and stunning effects. I just, I know it's a parody comedy that isn't as polished as her next two books, but mxtx please, you're letting your first born down ToT.
The fact that this fandom is going strong even on the other side of the world nearly a decade later, too. Like. Bingqiu deserves to look slightly decent compared to the other two but if we can't have that could we at least have that second season :'). I'm sure people would be more drawn to it if it didn't look so much like boneless plastic dolls in cosplay.

MNOG Ga-Koro Boat Model and instructions
Tumblr media
A while ago I tried for a second time to build the MNOG boat. I quite liked the results so I got the parts to build it in real life. It took a long time to track down all the parts :/
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Having it in hand I was able to tweak some things. Primarily I gave it some wheels because its fun. One day I might try to give it a bobbing motion, but my earlier attempts didn't work out due to friction.
So then after that I went back and modified the 3d model to be on par with the physical model and made some instructions for it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was quite laborious. But I also did it all in an afternoon at quite a fast pace. Making instructions is quite fun, I made some for my Pikmin 2 ship model a while ago, and I learned a lot, like how the total pages have to be a multiple of 4.
Tumblr media
The instructions and parts list can be downloaded HERE. It doesn't have a huge variety of parts, and the colour scheme is quite simplistic. Ideally I wanted it to be all green and black like the legendary slizer set Crane Truck, but parts just weren't available in those colours...its so frustrating lol.
I want to make a cloth sail and rigging for this thing eventually.

@pigeonoutsideyourwindow suggested if SY got transmigrated into YQY adn I think that that would be so so good for my sj/sy agenda but lets be fr how would SY get past SJ :(( Its canonical that despite SY's goofy inner monologue he's a good actor, but SJ has been obsessed with this man for as long as he remembers. Memory loss doesn't work because unless you're telling me YQY is now at the mental age of an 8 year old SJ has been there for the whole ride (except when YQY left him, but still the point stands). So that got me thinking: SY that transmigrates as YQY, freaks out and skedaddles.
Somehow YQY has an affinity for creating -- weapons can't be that far from carefully crafted words, can they? SY creates a gun because the only thing he remembers clearly about a weapon was the full information on how to create 3D printed guns that he found on an internet deep dive. He changes up YQY's colour scheme - white's the opposite of black, you can't really go wrong there - and wears a weimao, which admittedly looks a little funny because YQY is pretty buff and it creates an interesting juxtaposition. Now, he has to figure out a way to disconnect himself from Xuan Su AND convince the townsfolk of the remote border town he's settled in that he isnt an immortal (technically he is but, ahem, details)
Whilst YQY has, to the eyes of the cultivation world, died while out on a nighthunt, the infamous Qing Jing Peak Lord has been mourning, oscillating between lashing out and being silent for months. The most famous lashing out is related to a series of R rated novels "The Two Lords" detailing people suspiciously similar to YQY and himself.
He decides the sun and flower seeds are the way to go because after inspecting the absolute mesh of scars across his body, it seems like YQY's shizun bound the sword to his body instead of his soul!! Of course who better to get the seeds than the trusty traitor SQH? Cue SQH scurrying around in fear of the immortal in white with - IS THAT A GUN???
SY gets a new body (fancier this time - he has YQY's excellent spiritual roots yet the new body looks a little more like his old one) and somehow YQY got slotted back into one of the other plants SQH was growing as backup!!! But oh no. Now that YQY's free of the shackles and knows that SJ is mourning + can confess to SJ, he's probably going to go feral, isn't he.

BTS Wedding Series: Picking the dress
Seokjin
Tumblr media
Plans were finally starting to be placed now the venue had been booked and the date had been picked. You had made yourself a little checklist on your phone so you could start ticking things off now the ball was rolling. On your list was the next important thing - your wedding dress. You had an idea of what you liked and you had an idea of what would suit your figure but you honestly had no idea of what you were going to end up with.
The bridal consultant sat you, your mother and your maid of honour and started asking questions as to what your wedding was going to be about - your venue, what kind of colour scheme you were going for and what would match you as a person.
The consultant picked five dresses and took you to the changing room, giving your mother and maid of honour a quick chance to have a look through the racks to see if they could find a dress. Every option was a no - each dress having something wrong with it though there were bits you liked.
“We found one, could you try that?” your maid of honour asked, seeing how frustrated you were getting. This was the fifth shop this weekend and you wanted the dress to be found already.
“Of course, which one is it?” the consultant asked as she removed the dresses you had tried on and put them back on the racks. She glanced over to where your maid of honour was pointing and she felt a little sceptical about the dress that had been chosen. It wasn’t like anything you had gone for so far but stranger things had happened.
You looked as undecided as she did about the dress when it was brought into the changing room and you felt a wave of doubt as to whether you’d actually get a dress. Seoul had a limited range of wedding dress showrooms to go to.
The moment the dress was slipped on and your arms through the off-the-shoulder straps, there was an instant change in your demeanour. You felt confident, you felt secure in the dress, it fit right and everything so far felt perfect.
The reaction from your mother and maid of honour said it all - they gasped and then immediately reached for the tissues, your mother especially when she saw her little girl in the dress she had picked.
“This is it,” you agreed and pressed your fingertips to your lips, staring at your reflection in the mirror.
The dress was minimalist, off the shoulders neckline and light pink glitter flowing through the bodice and skirt in the tulle material. There were buttons on the back that matched the material of the dress and when your consultant added a veil that had 3D ivory flowers sewn into the edge and around the sides.
“This is it. This is everything.”
And just like that, you got the dress of your dreams with a veil thrown in for free.
Tumblr media
Yoongi
Tumblr media
Before you had picked the venue, you had looked through the internet to get ideas for your wedding dress. And while you didn’t show Yoongi what you had picked in the end, you had shown him a few ideas to gauge what he would like. Of course, the reaction to each option had been littered with the usual ‘pick whatever one you want. You’ll look beautiful either way.’
Useless.
You knew what he didn’t like without having to ask him though. He didn’t like over the top, didn’t like hard material and he didn’t like anything that was showy. It lined up with what you wanted - something simple, elegant and detailed in the accessories.
And so off you went looking at wedding dresses on your own because it was your decision at the end of the day and you knew what you wanted and what you didn’t want. You had the ring, you had the venue, and you had the man (technically) so now it would be down to your choice of your dress.
You were at your first dress shop and you had already gone through a few dresses which weren’t giving you the vibes you wanted. You had shown the stylist the photos you had saved on your phone of dresses and decorations you were going for: simple glass centrepieces with ivory and white flowers, everything low and long, candlelight and delicate.
She gave you a glass of champagne, told you to take a seat and she’d be back in a moment. You weren’t too nervous as there were plenty of other shops around and so far you had ruled out things you knew for certain you didn’t like such as massive princess dresses, flouncy material. Satin was working wonders so far today.
The stylist came back with a few options and she hung them up on the rack, letting you have a good look at them all first. “I’ll try this one first,” you said as you ran your hands over the material of the dress.
The dress was called Vaness, a sheath-style dress with gave comfort but flattered your figure in all the right ways. The puffed sleeves balance the open back to perfection, showing off enough skin of your back but hiding everything else. The skirt was long enough to give a train but not too long you were going to trip over it and there was a long set of buttons gliding suggestively down the back.
It flowed and moved easily around your legs as you walked through the showroom and the stylist added a band of small white and cream beads that hooked around your waist and onto one of the buttons at the back. It set everything off perfectly and with an open back, there was no need for a veil.
“It’s everything,” you agreed with the stylist and bought the dress there and then, left it at the showroom until you found a seamstress to tuck in the dress to your size.
Tumblr media
Hoseok
Tumblr media
Now, your fiance (you had to remind yourself of that) was a fashionista and he knew enough designers to make the dress of your dreams. Luckily enough for you both, his sister had stepped in and said she would design your dress and have it made since she ran her own clothing business and she knew the pain of trying to find the right dress.
She knew what your decor was going to be, what colours you were going for, what the style was going to be, and where the wedding was. She was your wedding planner in a sense and every idea was bounced around with her before Hobi.
The two of you had gone out for a girly lunch two months ago with both of your mothers and you all threw ideas of what the dress would look like. It would have to be sparkly enough to match the crystals in the venue and it had to be unique enough to stand out in the bright colours of your decor.
Jiwoo had taken all the suggestions and done some rough drawings, though what she showed you later on was something completely different to what you had discussed but everything you wanted.
The dress she had designed and had made was on a mannequin, glittering lovingly in the light. The impressed gasps of the two mothers was more than enough for Jiwoo to know she had done a good job but ultimately and obviously, this was your dress and what you wanted mattered the most.
You silently, very silently, tried on the dress and came into the main room again to look at it in the full length mirror.
The skirt was made out of miraloma satin and the bodice was completely beaded, with silver beading used for the corset dealing and ivory beading across the soft scoop necklace. At the back, the zipper was covered by buttons down the length of the bodice and most importantly, the dress had pockets.
It was simple yet extravagant.
The light from the room bounced off all the hidden diamonds on the bodice and lit up, causing you to twinkle with every movement of the dress. The veil Jiwoo used also had the same beading around the edge of the long veil and that glittered in the light as well.
“Thank you, it’s gorgeous,” you whispered as Jiwoo took your hand. “It’s everything and more. I couldn’t ask for anything more.”
She grinned and pressed her cheek to yours, watching the two of you in front of the mirror. “He’s so going to cry when he sees you.”
Tumblr media
Namjoon
Tumblr media
Even though you had your venue booked and everything and there was plenty of time for you to plan things, you wanted to get your bridal dress bought and sorted before anything else. You had figured out a theme for the wedding with Namjoon already and you had a good idea of colours, shades of green to represent the nature that brought you together and that matched your engagement ring.
With all that in mind, you had started searching for dresses to match - dresses with colourful flowers, dresses with 3D flowers, dresses even made out of recycled material. You had looked at it all but there was one dress that stood out to you the most when you had spent the evening searching local bridal shops.
It was called Clara Reese by Alison Webb and it was everything you wanted.
A-line gown, made out of Italian jacquard, decorated in vines and leaves with a delicate accent waistband, buttons at the back and a bow that made it complete. You fell in love with it the moment you saw it and you just hoped it would be the right one for you.
This is why you took your best friend with you when you went to try it on because if there was anyone’s opinion that mattered, it would be hers.
You hadn’t told her about the dress in particular but you had told the bridal consultant who had secreted the dress away in the changing room ready. Between the three of you, you had picked another so many dresses to try on but none of them had compared to what was waiting.
Every dress you tried on, your best friend would give an instant thumbs down.
However, when you came out in the dress you adored, she had a completely different reaction.
The sip of champagne suddenly choked her and she quickly coughed into a tissue, eyes wide as she took in the details of the dress then your face which just screamed happiness.
“You already know, don’t you?” she questioned, wiping her mouth and discarding the tissue.
You let out a small giggle as you nodded, smoothing down the material of the dress and you loved how it felt underneath your hands. “I saw it online before I booked the appointment and it’s everything I want. And it’s going to match really well with the theme and with the bridesmaid dress colours as well.”
She got off the couch and walked over, smoothing a hand over the dress as well then played with the bow for a moment.
“You’ve got your heart set on it, girl. Go for it.”
Tumblr media
Jimin
Tumblr media
It was great having a fiance as hands-on as Jimin. So far every decision you two had made, you had completely agreed on (well the venue he had to accept and go with it). The colours you two had chosen, you had chosen your bridal party together and you had even agreed on the wedding favours.
Everything was going completely smooth sailing and he had even sent suggestions on the colours of the bridesmaid dresses and your dress.
“You can’t come with me to the appointment,” you chuckled as you got ready to leave to meet your sister, Jimin’s mother and your mother at the bridal shop.
“I hate that tradition,” Jimin grumbled as he flopped onto the bed. “You get to see and pick my suit and everything else. Why can’t I see and pick the dress?”
“Because it’s bad luck and a surprise. A big surprise that you’ll get to see on the day. Only a select few are going to see the dress anyway,” you shrugged while grabbing your back. “I’ll contact you when I’m on my way home because I have no idea how long I’m going to be.”
You were right as you were out all morning and most of the afternoon, going around each bridal shop in Seoul. You were arriving at the last one and you had to say you were getting a bit fed up, a bit tired, a bit hangry and you really wanted your pyjamas and a glass of wine. Because shopping was a nightmare.
It was very high-end and somewhat expensive. You could see your sister and your mother exchange a look in the mirror when they saw a couple of the price tags but Jimin’s mother just waved a black card at them. This was on Jimin.
After an hour, you were on your ninth dress and about to go on your tenth dress when your bridal consultant came in with a dress that you never would have picked.
It was a light pink, full-on princess dress, with a mix of 3D flowers (including a mix of cherry blossom flowers) covering the bodice then slotted down the tulle skirt and along the train. It was a fairytale dress and it completely matched what you were going for in terms of decor for your wedding.
You were already holding back tears when the bridal consultant helped you walk through to the waiting area.
“Oh my god, that’s it,” your sister whispered. “It matches perfectly.”
Your mother couldn’t answer but nodded as she cried into the tissue she had picked up and Jimin’s mother was in a similar situation but she smiled over at you. “You look like a princess.”
And that was that.
Tumblr media
Taehyung
Tumblr media
Hollywood glamour. Beverly Hills. Red roses. Candlelight. Glamour. Red and glitter silver. These were the things you had given to your bridal consultant for your appointment at a bridal shop in Los Angeles, one that had been arranged by Taehyung so you could take your parents and his parents over to Beverly Hills so they could see the venue and you could do your bridal shopping at the same time.
Good thing you were proficient in English and could translate for everyone.
Of course, your Dad and Taehyung’s Dad had no interest in dress shopping other than handing over the bank card with the words: go for it. So a girl’s shopping it was.
You started the day with a big breakfast, a manicure and a pedicure at the hotel and you were driven in a private car to your destination. No expense had been spared and everything was permitted. Obviously a bit extravagant for bridal shopping but when it came to Taehyung and what he wanted, nothing was going to stop him.
The stylist had laid out five dresses for you to try and pick on when you got there and they hadn’t matched what you quite wanted. So after explaining some more of what you were looking for: Hollywood glamour, art deco, red roses, candlelight, sexy and more, the stylist got what you wanted.
She brought out a Sophia Tolli dress called Monet which caused Taehyung’s mother to chuckle. “Well, we’re on the right track.” Given Taehyung’s love of classical art and Monet, this was right on the money.
“So, Monet is all about drama,” the stylist explained to you in the changing room while you were getting it on. “She’s fashion-forward with the scooped square neckline but she’s got a daringly low v-back. She’s made out of glitter tulle, misty tule, stretch jersey and beaded schifit lace so it gives you that ultra-flattering fit,” she added as she zipped up the back and it suckered you in, in all the right places.
She then brought out something that you had not thought of - a detachable train made out the same material but completely plain, apart from the beaded belt. It gave you two dresses for the price of one.
The dress flowed with you when you stepped out into the light and the train followed on, almost like an after thought. The stylist let you and the mothers look at it for a good moment, then removed the train to let you look at the dress itself.
“It’s art-deco in it’s styling with the beads,” your mother complimented as she ran a finger over the intricate styling. “What do you think?”
“It’s utterly gorgeous and it’s everything we want and it’s going to match so well. And I feel glamorous, like Hollywood and yet like a bride at the same time,” you agreed and no matter how hard you looked at the dress, no matter how much you tried to find a fault, there was none.
Monet became the dress of your dreams.
Tumblr media
Jungkook
Tumblr media
So far, in terms of the wedding planning, things were going pretty easy.
Jungkook had picked the ring from an ARMY who had designed it, it was made especially for you by a local jeweller. He had proposed in the most unique way by creating a puzzle for you to do and then the venue had been chosen in Busan with relative ease. It was going easy.
Apart from when it got to your dress.
It had to be simple. Literally simple. And trying to find a wedding dress or a wedding designer who did simple was a nightmare. There was either beading you didn’t want, material that you knew wouldn’t suit or there was a slit up to the thigh that would put you off.
You weren’t fussy but you knew what you wanted.
This was one of the reasons why you were at Hybe, in a meeting with the stylists who did the clothing for the boys and who knew you well enough that you could ask them to make something how you wanted it and they would do it.
A meeting took place which lasted four hours and then you got a phone call three weeks later, that they had a rough version for you to look at and try on and then they could play around with it if you weren’t happy.
It was like putting a puzzle piece together and you enjoyed that.
So with your mother, you went into Hybe with passes and high security who led you through the back way towards where the stylists worked. Jungkook wouldn’t be allowed in if he was in the building, no other member of staff, not even Bang Si-hyuk.
It was a rough cut but it was gorgeous as they helped you step into the dress and pull the spaghetti straps up to your shoulders. It was made out of chiffon, so it flowed well but instead of it just being a skirt, they had made light-flowing ruffles that didn’t necessarily look like ruffles. It all flowed so well and the bodice had been made out of the same material, just as plain, but rouched to crisscross over your body with a sweet-heart necklace.
Simple yet effective.
“I don’t know how you guys do it, but you did it,” you grinned as you walked up and down the room, letting the material flow around you and through your legs.
“Maybe some small beads along where the bodice and skirt meet,” your mother suggested. “Maybe light purple for ARMY who designed your ring.”
The stylists and you turned to her in amazement. Why hadn’t they thought of that? Within a seconds, the stylists were carefully sowing on light purple beads where your mother had suggested and it finished it off well.
“There, now you look like a bride.”

HOLY SHIT BETA GLITCH TECHS DESIGNS!
I found a YouTube channel called Glitch Techs Archive that has a bunch of leaked Glitch Techs stuff. Mostly various bits of the only surviving piece of the 2020 pilot episode, but there’s also the way cooler 2015 Pilot stuff, With a full Pilot Episode (In animatic form) and an archived TRAILER for the 2015 Glitch Techs.
Please watch it it’s so cool.
Anyways here’s a bunch of Beta Glitch Techs stuff i saw in the trailer (and 2015 Pilot but the Trailer has better visuals):
First off: The animation is COMPLETELY different.
Tumblr media
Looks nothing like the Glitch Techs we got to see.
Also that’s what Five Miko and BITT look like.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I guess if you squint you can see the similarities between Beta Five and Regular Five, but i just have to ask what HAPPENED to Miko and BITT in between 2015 and 2020. I love the look of the beta and regular designs an equal amount but that is a MASSIVELY changed design.
Also in the 2015 Beta (and the 2020 Pilot actually) Five starts off as a Glitch Tech, albeit one that’s still in training, while Miko doesn’t, being hired due to her Reset Immunity by the end of the first episode. His father is also mentioned in the Pilot (“im just glad your father isnt here to see this”) so he could have had ANY sort of backstory at this point.
Also, BITT is completely different in design, personality and function. In the Beta, BITT is a Tech Training Bot that accompanies Five on missions because he’s still in training. He also acts like a human being instead of purely robotic.
Beta BITT here also explains a small meta thing about actual BITT: Despite BITT standing for “Binary Intelligence Tech Trainer”, BITT in the show doesn’t do much Tech Training, mostly just keeping the HQ running on his own with the only training he does being done in episode 1. So why is “Tech Trainer” such an important part of him that it takes up half of his acronym?
Because his Beta Version WAS a full time Tech Training Bot and during production he was either changed or merged with a character that did regular BITT’s job of running HQ and he kept his original name!
Also The Tech Outfits and Armour look completely different as well with Five and Miko having their own colour schemes.
Tumblr media
And finally, a very cool detail found in the trailer: Glitches in 2015 were originally going to have their own unique artstyles that they would keep when they escaped from games!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Seen here is the Rock Wizard (a glitch found in both the 2020 and 2015 Pilots and the 2015 trailer, but never actually seen in the show) and a Beta Version of Chomp Kitty. The 2015 Rock Wizard is 3D animated and Chomp Kitty looks more pixelated (while also somewhat fitting into the show’s artstyle). In other words: Glitches keep their in-game artstyle when they leave their games!
Also Beta Phil:
Tumblr media
This feels wrong to look at so I had to inflict it on all of you. (also: does anyone think he looks a bit like some of the younger Phil pictures seen in BITT Prime?)
And finally: Bolypius? Or a more sinister and villainous Hinobi Company?
I also found the original Pitch Bible from 2015, which has its own interesting stuff in it, but it deserves its own post.

🪴 Potted plant emoji review 🪴
Tumblr media
Apple: This plant grows gracefully in this beige pot made out of terracotta. The textures of the soil are harmonizing beautifully and so are the green shades of green of the leafs! 8.5/10 Maybe they are a baby.
Tumblr media
Google: Planted in a red round pot, this emoji shows a different type of plant, which honestly is a nice breath of fresh air. 7/10
Tumblr media
Samsung: I think the colour scheme works fairly well in this type of plant! Could use some water to grown them more and more. The pot is shaded confusingly, like it’s going back and forth, left to right. 7/10 love the amount of leafs.
Tumblr media
Microsoft: I won’t hate these buddies. It reminds of a Children book. Do you know the kind of books our teachers used to give for vacation? This emoji is just as nostalgic as them. I think it’s a fairly simple sprout. 5/10
Tumblr media
WhatsApp: Curious fact: I have dumbcanes at my house. I absolutely adore this emoji. Because the details are on point and the shading is just incredible. I have heard they are slightly toxic, which creeps me a little bit. 10/10 amazing emoji.
Tumblr media
Twitter: Frankly. I love the shades of green that are manipulated to create this emoji. The cell shading makes me feel so-so but sometimes, you got to agree that some simple emojis can look really nice. 7/10 Google’s Look-alike?
Tumblr media
Facebook: This emoji is absolutely ADORABLE. They are shaped like hearts. I would give this plant to my SO. These are blessed and I hope they grow until they become an absolutely SHOCKING tree. 11/10 For the win.
Tumblr media
Twitter emoji stickers: love the pot’s texture. It looks like a generic 3d model that’s been used on Nintendo switch video games. These are cute and I hope they grow amazingly. 9/10 Love the shading and the smooth feelings.
Tumblr media
Joypixels: Sure, there were emojis with a LOT of leafs, but this one took it a little too much. Anyways what’s bad about it? I think the stem is a little gross (I don’t mean disgusting) I like the shape of the leafs as they feel smooth and classy. 7/10 Would put these on my granny’s backyard.
Tumblr media
TossFace: A little baby sprout! This is so cute. 2/10 Everything else is a little…. Uh?
Tumblr media
Emojipedia: I feel like I have to say a lot of Emojipedia emojis since there are so many problems about them that it sort of annoys me since a lot of them look distorted versions of apple emojis. The plant is weirdly simetrical. It’s honestly a little scary because maybe this cursed plant came from a parallel world that every plant grows differently. The details on the leaf are weird, because the lines are a bit too thick. The center bugs me A LOT. It’s disturbing and dark. It’s like a leaf monster that haunts you at your garden at midnight. The pot is looking shiny, but is weirdly placed. 4/10 the soil is ok though.
Tumblr media
Openmoji: A tiny palm tree? 2/10 because it’s as bad as TossFace.
thank you! 💗

All of Rosalina's Mario Kart Tour Variants Ranked
Rosalina got a lot of variants in this game, not including her base form or Baby Rosalina, she has nine. Mario and Peach I believe are the only other characters in the game that have more variants than her (unless you count all the Yoshi/Shy Guy/Toad colours, but those are technically different characters). Although this is unsurprising given that she's a fan favourite.
Not including base Rosalina or base Baby Rosalina, I'm gonna rank each of her variants. I'll rank these based on creativity, looks, and whether they fit Rosalina as a character in both look and purpose.
Tumblr media
Last Place: Tanooki
Tumblr media
This variant isn't outright terrible, I don't think Rosalina has a single bad variant, but this one is firmly in last place.
For one, it's not very creative. It's not a new, unique design, it's a powerup form taken from a main series game. Secondly, it looks kinda silly on her. Goofier characters like Mario, Luigi, or even Peach can pull off a look like this, but given that Rosalina is a more serious character, outfits like this are kinda awkward on her. Besides, she can already fly so it's not like she'd ever canonically need this powerup anyway.
Cat
Tumblr media
Again, it looks kinda silly on her, but I like that it's black (with a slight blue tint) instead of aqua blue. Darker colours suit Rosalina, and honestly just make her look cool...as cool as she can look in a cat suit anyway.
Fire
Tumblr media
Like the Tanooki and Cat suits, it's not very creative as an idea given that it's just a powerup form (I'd argue it's even less creative than them design-wise since they just make her dress and earrings red). Unlike the Tanooki and Cat suits, however, she at least doesn't look silly wearing it.
Fun (but unnecessary...funnecessary) fact, I used to nickname her Fire Form "Mrs Claus" when I played as her in 3D World as a kid because of the colour scheme.
Chef
Tumblr media
It's not badly designed or anything, I just don't think a chef outfit suits her. I don't think she'd dress up to cook, it seems a bit too playful for her to do. Maybe it's the hat or something, the outfit looks a little too cutesy for her. I think an outfit like this fits Peach more, being a fashionista (and baking) is more her thing. Oh well, at least it's an original design.
Volendam
Tumblr media
It's Rosalina in a traditional Volendam costume. I could see her gardening in this, wanting to learn about and experience some culture. Although I can't give it a lot of points for creativity, given it's based on real life outfits, it is pretty cool that this variant incorporates real Netherlandish culture. Otherwise...it's OK.
Aurora
Tumblr media
I know people love this one, it seems to be the fan favourite costume of hers from this game. I agree that it's pretty, but I think it's slightly overdesigned. I'm also not sure when she'd ever wear it? To see an aurora? I know she loves space, but again, I don't see her dressing up just for that, especially something so intricate. Maybe she'd wear it to a fancy party, but...would her usual royal gown not do? Her main outfit is noticeably looser and a little more simple than Peach and Daisy's, being more of a nightgown. This fits her since Rosalina is meant to be a character that is cold of the outsight yet offers warm, motherly comfort, hence her outfit is reminiscent of nightwear, something comfortable to sleep in.
Swimwear
Tumblr media
Iiiiiiiiiit's a beach outfit!
Yep.
It's an original design. Colour scheme fits. It's not overdesigned. It seems like something she'd wear while swimming or on holiday (maybe in Beach Bowl Galaxy?) The flower is a cute touch. I like that it shows less skin than Peach and Daisy's swimwear outfits (I'm not sl*t-shaming, this actually happens a lot, I made a post about it).
This variant's nice...next.
Detective
Tumblr media
Yep, it's this high! Why? Well one, Rosalina dressing up as a child makes more sense than her doing it as an adult (not that adults can't enjoy dressing up, I just don't think it suits Rosalina as a character).
Two, I also like that the magnifying glass resembles her future wand and brooch. Very clever design choice.
Three, and most of all, I like what this variant says about her character. I like that this outfit emphasises her brain. I like the idea of her pretending to be a detective as a child, it's fitting given how wise she'd grow up to be, and implies that she was a precocious young girl. I think this was intentional, given that they doe something similar with Baby Peach. They give her a Cherub/Cupid variant, which fits how loving Peach would grow up to be. Design-wise it could be more creative, but I really like the concept.
First Place: Halloween
Tumblr media
This outfit has everything I could look for in a Rosalina variant!
Design wise, I like the darker colours (the purple not only goes nicely with her fingernails, but is also reminiscent of the inside of her bedroom) and although it could look more distinct from her main outfit, it's different enough so that it's doesn't seem lazy (shorter sleeves, it covers her shoulders, etc.) The little blue bow is cute but not too cute whilst adding some blue to the outfit, making it fit her all the more.
This variant is meant to be a Halloween outfit, and sure Rosalina herself wouldn't go trick-or-treating, but I absolutely could see her taking the Lumas to go trick-or-treating on Earth. You can't see whilst she's front-facing, but the back of her render has large blue stitching, making it look homemade, and the use of her wand supports that idea. I love how this outfits utilizes her wand, using it to complete a witch outfit is both fitting and creative! Also, Rosalina built most of the Comet Observatory herself, so it's easy to believe she'd make a pretty good DIY costume.
So yeah. It looks good, it's original to Mario Kart Tour, it's look and purpose fit Rosalina as a character, and utilizing her wand to complete the costume was a creative choice. All done on their first try (this was Rosalina's first alternative outfit in the game).
I guess they peaked at the start!

your ALTTP drawings are so cool <3333 and your artstyle looks awesome!
What are 3 things that inspire you to draw?
thank you so much I'm so excited to hear people like them !!! ;v; I have sooo many things I want to draw that are super challenging for me right but I hope I can get to do all of them at some point !!!!
I feel like it's almost hard to narrow smth down to 3 things bc So many things inspire me to draw ! (my struggle is more so in motivation and energy department I guess)
I ended up typing a lot bc I got excited but I think these 3 are my biggest ones !
1) Nostalgia! especially when felt from environments around me or in little random moments! I always end up with a bunch of random photos of like environments or buildings or the clouds on my phone bc I felt a certain way in a certain moment and while my memory is pretty bad, snapping that photo usually helps me revisit that moment even if it may have been on some random day! and while not rly related to feeling there's also always smth fun to see around like the shape of a tree or the way shadows fall or colours ! maybe it's more about general vibes than nostalgia hmm...
I definitely don't draw environments as often as I'd like to and even when I do I haven't posted much but even so it's smth that fills me with a want to draw! to try and also bring out that kind of nostalgia or warmth !
I want to do more edgy dramatic stuff too but trying to make warm feelings has too strong a grip on me haha
2) Video games a lot a lot !! and other media too!! I absolutely love creating fanworks, I'm just a nerd and I want to share and show my love for stuff !!
video games are especially fun bc I already get to spend my time in x world and depending on what game it is that either means being bombarded with interesting visuals, fun little moments to recreate or for visually "simpler" games you get to imagine it in a 3d space all on your own and I love that ! like right now of course I'm losing my mind over alttp but in the past, games like Yume Nikki (and fangames), older pokemon games and Star Stealing Prince have had this exact effect on me too !
for a little add on I wanna say I used to worry a lot about accuracy and it could make fanworks pretty intimidating but one of my friends (shoutout to Cai) said smth earlier this year that I cannot for the life of me remember right now But it completely changed my mindset to instead be like. it's more important to make up my own interpretation of stuff rather than make sure everyone agrees it's accurate right? I can't even remember it right now but it completely changed the way I played games since like Bloodborne and Zeldas bc rather than worry about getting things instantly Right in my brain I would discover little lore pieces at my own time and instead try to put stuff together in my own way and idk games have been infinitely more fun since And it's inspiration machine to me !!
3) and most of all other people's art !!!! I could spend days browsing the internet just looking at all the amazing things people make and it's so contagious to me ! even if I couldn't ever create the kinds of things I enjoy seeing myself I can't help but feel so inspired and motivated to create something too no matter how it ends up!
creating an inspiration folder for myself that's full of just Anything like environments and character art and photos and colour schemes has been on of the best things I've done for myself! I rarely look at other stuff When I draw (for worse imo, like I rly need to get better at referencing) but if I ever feel stuck I can look through that and almost instantly find smth that kicks me in gear ! sometimes I see art and it's amazing and impressive and sometimes I see it and just think "man that looks like it was so Fun I want to have fun too!" and both work perfectly for me! :D
anyway uuuuh take pictures of nice things and save cool stuff there's always smth to be inspired by in little things! here's a little collection of random photos of my own from the past year that make me happy and also go !!!!!! (not a lot of city stuff tho bc usually ppl are on those )
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I ended up going through my camera roll and it was so hard to pick stuff bc everything made me go !!! ocean and buildings are the big themes tho only one shows here haha

Came right here to complain about that figure because oh my god 200+ for something of THAT quality?
Well you came to the right place to complain bc I don't like it either. And I'm happy to see most other people don't like it bc that means I'm not just a nitpicky bitch.
Like, everything on the store is overpriced, but 250+ Euro for THAT? I'm starting to wonder if the entire merch store is just a money laundering scheme at this point.
For reference, the Unlocked figures from lol are about 80 Euro each and are WAY better quality. And the Unlocked figures are the budget versions. The more high-quality ones are way more expensive. The Skul figure is worth 50 at most. And that's only bc of the novelty of it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The sculpt is decent at a distance but closer up it looks really dirty.
Tumblr media
The paint job is dirty too and so basic. Like, just black and white, no gradient, not even accent colours.
Neither the sculpt nor the paint job is professional.
Even ignoring that, the pose is stiff and boring. Couldn't even add a scarf flowing in the wind. A gun or a flame like the OG figure had. And the OG one captured the OG books cover vibes perfectly and this one is... pretty generic. Honestly, eventho the OG one is cheaper in material quality, I actually like it more than the new one.
This is so the result of nepotism and that's the first thing I thought when Landy said his brother did the figure. At one glance I can tell he wasn't hired for skill. If you look at his Instagram and Artstation, you can tell he has potential, but he just switched from another profession to sculpting in 2022 and you can tell.
He probably went with his brother so he can financially support him/help him with his new career. But also bc it's easier and cheaper than doing it the proper way. Hire a concept artist, hire sculptor, hire a 3d printing company, hire painter and optionally hire someone for the box art. (A mini painter YouTuber did it this way and the result was AMAZING!)
Or just collab with a company that does figures like Youtooz. Everyone who is someone is doing a collab with them right now. First4Figures is like topnotch but can get REALLY pricey, especially with LED stuff. Or McFarlane Toys also got pretty good stuff. Their black light stuff would be so cool for China's tattoos.
So many good options and instead he chooses to use his brother and his brother's 3D printer. I have a 3D printer too, so I can tell the resin costs for each sculpture is very likely less than 5 Euro. The slicer tells you the material costs when exporting the print file. At least the Lychee Slicer does which is the one I use.
The expensive part is the colour. But they only used 4 different colours. And one of those colours is gonna be either black or white primer. Like, that's such a lazy paint job it looks like they only applied the base, no layering, no shade, no dry-brushing, no nothing.
TL;DR: the Skul figure is an overpriced scam, don't buy it. But we both know these figures will sell out eventho by what I've seen the fandom as a whole doesn't like it and thinks it's too expensive. Which it is.

Could you match me with a character from Genshin Impact? I am non-binary (they/them) and my MBTI type is INFJ (9w1) with a Gemini Zodiac. I am currently questioning my orientation but I very much lean towards those who are feminine.
My appearance consists of short but fluffy brown hair, brown eyes with fair skin. My height is 5'10".
Personality-wise, I'm extremely shy and I don't do well in starting conversations. I tend to avoid strangers and become anxious when they try to get my attention. I try to be as compassionate as I can to those I love, though I have an awful lot of trouble saying no even when I have a lot on my plate. I often feel peoples' emotions as if they're my own, which makes me incredibly empathic but also makes me easy to manipulate. I definitely don't do well in conflicts and avoid them like the plague. My biggest weakness is overthinking and catastrophising which can hold me back from doing the things I want. I like my conversations to be quiet, but very deep and meaningful. Some have described that my voice is calming to listen to.
I've always had an interest in playing guitar and writing heavy metal music, but I also really like symphonic music and would love to combine those two genres. I'm open-minded about music in general though! I also like writing fiction, and messing with electronics. Favourite colour scheme is combinations of blue and white. But I also like the colour purple too. Also like drawing but I don't consider myself great at doing so. 3D animation is also something I enjoy! Favourite drinks are Monster, as well as tea and water.
My vibe in terms of characters are those that are elegant and soft-hearted. But I'm open to any you believe fit the bill!
Favourite games are NieR: Automata, Genshin Impact, the Crysis series and Kid Icarus Uprising!
I'm particularly drawn to those who are elegant, and exhibit a soothing, comforting presence. Almost princess-like.
Thank you - hopefully this gives you enough to work with!
Hi Zephyr! Thank you for your request! Sorry it took a while. I hope you like your matchup!
In Genshin Impact, I match you with...
Tumblr media
Ningguang definitely fits your tendency towards elegant people. And despite her, at times, very professional demeanour, when it comes to you, she’s certainly got a soft spot.
If there’s anyone who’s harder to manipulate than Ningguang in all of Teyvat, I want to meet them. She’s very good at detecting when people are taking advantage of others and will help you out when you’re struggling to say no.
Doesn’t mind taking charge in conversations with strangers so that you don’t have to worry about interacting with them. She does try to encourage you to be in public, even if you aren’t “socialising” in the normal sense.
But at the same time, Nigguang loves spending quiet time with you and you alone. She’s a very busy person so her free time is quite limited. But there’s nothing she loves more than being in your presence.
Enjoys having deep conversations with you. She would prefer it if you don’t talk about her work though. Any other topic is fine but when she’s talking to you, she wants to be able to shut off from her stress.

I've been thinking about old railway uniforms, and come to the conclusion that the textiles could be INTERESTING in a steampunk world.
If steam power is widespread and commonplace, that means that there's going to be plenty of steam piping and/or boilers around. A lot of it would probably be insulated for safety and efficiency, but that still probably means that a significant part of the population has to work around HOT steam-powered equipment fairly often. I don't think that EVERYONE would necessarily be going around in protective double denim, but I think there'd just be less demand for fabrics with worse heat resistance.
That probably means that textile innovation wouldn't focus so hard on inventing New materials; but rather on improving natural fabrics. With a focus on mechanical innovation, I think your steampunk inventor would have an ENORMOUS array of linkages available to them - for converting a continuous mechanical input to various complicated and adjustable movement patterns. I think that having a lot more workers in hot environments would also lead to wide-spread use of mechanical refrigeration.
I've seen a few videos of industrial fabric-handling machines - they seem to have a Lot spiky metal fingers making repetitive movements. I think a steampunk world would be GREAT at making those little fingers do different, interesting patterns of movement! I recently saw a Matt Parker video about a continuous lattice of 7 different directions of pencil, and there was a cool animation of its cross-section. Imagine the funky patterns you could weave with thread going in more than 2 directions - either coplanar with eachother or in 3d space. All the cool decorative patterns woodworkers can do with plywood and veneer - imagine that with thread!
One of the reasons that a lot of tradespeople wore denim was because the pattern of the fabric obscured oil and grease stains. Could you achieve the same effect with the above funky patterns if they were dense enough? SO many workwear fashion options. And if you've got hot steam on tap as well as decent refrigeration - heat treatment would be easy to incorporate. What sort of interesting features would they be heat-setting into their clothes?
And if you want to build any sort of articulated machine/robot with steam as the power source; you need something to carry that steam - a flexible, high-pressure, heat resistant pipe. That sounds like a braided hose to me - and if you're using more colourful metals than stainless steel, your steam plumbing could get COLOURFUL! You know how we have braided hoses with a red or blue strand for hot or cold water? JUST IMAGINE the industry standard colour coding schemes for different temperatures, pressures, and phases of various fluids they could have!
Colour coded flexible pressure hose reminds me of an electrical system - I wonder how a steampunk world would do mechanical calculation? Did someone say Convoluted Fluid Based Computers?? With advances in textiles, hoses, and ropes - surely at some point they'd invent wire or fibre-wrapped pressure vessels! (Just think what they'd do with carbon fibre!) A society with (admittedly probably building-sized) computers that's used to dealing with high-pressure fluids - SURELY they'd invent jet propulsion? Perhaps not for rockets or aircraft - imagine pressure-jet steampunk ships, submarines even.
Actually where I can see modern-ish chemical rocketry in a steampunk world is in miniature steam generators - either HO bipropellant (your choice of liquid or gaseous) or peroxide monopropellant. A vigorous chemical reaction with hot, fast H2O as the product - sounds like a (rather explosive) portable power source.
Anyways, TLDR i'd LOVE to see what technological innovations a steampunk world would have. What paths they'd go down for research.

Cosplaying a Dalek
How I spedran my first ever cosplay to wear it at a con, aka a sentimental writeup on the making of the costume with lots of pictures! Find it under the cut.
Tumblr media
Ever since I first laid eyes on them, I've loved the Daleks, both as a wider entity and in their design.
Tumblr media
Look at this thing, it's perfection! A modern design from the newer, post-2005 series, but with a more classic-feeling black colour scheme.
During my comprehensive Doctor Who watch-through, sometime around January 2020, an idea for an anthropomorphic Dalek materialised in my mind, centering around the Dalek trooper helmets from Resurrection of the Daleks. Except I thought they could have looked way cooler.
Tumblr media
I mean look at it. It's got the spirit but it lacks the style. So my design incorporated all the parts I found important about the entirety of the Dalek form. I doubt I thought about cosplaying it while I first had the idea, but the first post I ever made about it already mentions that desire. …huh, it's been so long already??
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I never did much about it since that time, though, aside from talking it over with a friend for ideas and thinking about visiting some second-hand clothes shops to look for the right sort of coat. That didn't end up happening, because by sheer luck I found two leather coats to choose from at home, just sitting there unused, and one of them had exactly the right collar!
…that was definitely way over a year ago though. The next time anything moved forward cosplay-wise was early in April this year. Once my small group of friends decided all three of us would go to this year's convention, and all of us were to show up in costume, it was on. With a time limit and a real goal of creating the costume I'd dreamed of for so long, I actually got to work.
The cosplay never left my mind since that day; I was constantly planning what I'd need and how I'd go about achieving it in the back of my mind. There were some things I had ideas for, but many more that I didn't even know how to start approaching; I spent several days in the first two weeks just visiting every art and hobby shop and some more specialised ones across (and some outside) the entire city. (I found out more about public transport here in that week than for my entire life here.)
Some harder to find items that I'd known I'd need from the beginning were a bicycle chain (for the exo-spine) and clear plastic cups (for the helmet lights). Those required dedicated trips and, in the chain's case, much additional work cleaning and breaking it to the desired length.
What gave me the MOST trouble, though, were all the balls on the costume, both helmet and coat. Nearly everyone I talked to about this project had their own (mostly unsolicited) ideas for what they could be made of, but none felt right to me. Eventually I latched onto wanting to make them from buttons - so the problem became finding large enough buttons. After much effort I got them - only coconut shell buttons were anywhere near the correct size - and spent the next few days sewing them and the bike chain onto the coat. Tip: never attempt sewing leather without a thimble.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here's what it looked like with all the attachments + a dirt cheap belt from a second hand.
Through all the work on the coat, however, I'd been dreading the part I knew least about: the helmet. It was the most crucial element, the lynchpin of the entire thing, and I knew exactly what I wanted it to look like, but nothing about how I'd achieve it. It took me the longest time to even settle on a material to make it out of.
Everything started coming together once I remembered I have access to 3D modelling software that I *knew how to use*. I speed modelled the helmet in one evening, adjusting only the cup holes for real size and eyeballing the rest of the dimensions, praying that it'd end up being right because I had neither the time nor willpower to go through modelling-printing-cutting and gluing it all a second time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some wip stages looked pretty funny considering the cup shapes were perfectly to scale
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once unfolded, printed out, glued together, cut out, traced on cardboard, and cut out once more, it looked like this:
Tumblr media
a LOT of tape and wishing I had someone to help me hold things in place later, I finally ended up with a shape that looked right and thankfully turned out to be perfectly sized for my noggin. It's incredible how many strokes of luck happened here, really. and there's still several coming up!
After connecting the visor, cups, and a safety helmet base to the cardboard structure, I had a Usable Helmet. Feeling so close to my goal, I still knew there was a long way to go, as I had barely an inkling as to how I'd make or connect the helmet's optic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I used a small tube of thick cardboard and bent wire in the end. The lens was from an old bedstand clock.
Other than that though, what remained was mostly decoration - and I was not about to even attempt painting this thing; I had to cut the helmet's template into separate pieces, lay them out tightly on a few sheets of PVC foam, cut those and then attach them to each side of the helmet one by one. It took a good while but the result was pretty phenomenal, colour quality-wise.
Tumblr media
The helmet also got the button treatment, though these were a different kind and not ones I went looking for - I'd actually had these lying around for years, and exactly the right number, too! Incredible how good they look, especially when in motion and catching all the light. Ended up having to reattach them with a different kind of tape, but they're holding fast now.
So my helmet was done and I had little time to spare, and even less idea how to make my Dalek gun, despite having the parts for it. A classmate unexpectedly offered to let me use a 3D printer he had access to, though, and this opened up an opportunity - so the base for attaching the gun to my forearm was 3D printed, glued, got the straps (from an old gutted backpack) sewn into it and it worked pretty great.
For the gun, I used a clear plastic tube and even more bent wire, and finally for the cable leading to the gun I could do something relaxing - a measure tape that I had to cover with isolation tape. Taped again to the base of the gun, but detachable on the other side via paperclip that I can put on and take off the collar of the coat.
Tumblr media
I had all the elements that required crafting ready and put together just a day before the con, then. I'd picked out appropriate underdress (my Dalek shirt and colour-fitting trousers, light for the hot weather) in between working on them.
Let's summarise: it's June. Sunny weather. My cosplay consists of
gun
shirt
trousers
long leather coat
black helmet
gloves
whatever shoes fit the vibe
and I wanted to put a backpack on top of all that, too. You'd have to be insane to wear all of that on a hot summer day!*
*Disclaimer: all Daleks are clinically insane or close enough, so it all checks out.
I decided not to use the gloves and spare myself that much, at least. In the end, the day was even a little cloudy, and it was only about 25°C outside (for my Fahrenheit-using friends, that translates to "way too hot to wear all that") - so the eleven hours of walking in full Dalek cosplay dehydrated me only a little in the end. I think. Yeah that water bottle was gone fast.
The day was incredibly fun, even more fun than it was exhausting, and the number of people who complimented the cosplay or even asked to take a photo with me was absolutely staggering to a newbie like me! It was all worth it in the end; as I write this, I haven't yet had my planned photoshoot to get nice detailed photos of the cosplay, but I did find a TARDIS prop at the con to pose with, so… I guess I can bend my no photos rule and show you this one.
Tumblr media
Censoring my face with an actual Dalek picture for accuracy.
Now here I am, a proud and happy new owner of a rather nice Dalek costume. It still needs some adjustments for better comfort of wearing, mostly to make the helmet less wobbly while walking, but I have it! I got help from my friends and colleagues both in terms of solution ideas and resources given to me nearly every step of the way and completing it so quickly wouldn't have been possible without it. Thank you, guys. And thank you, if you've read this entire thing, hope it was enjoyable B ] Questions and comments most welcome if you have any.

crochet roundup post for may/june...!
I don't have a blog for crafts despite my chronic interest categorisation so I'll just post em here For Now. Apologies for anyone who follows me on twitter as I've been posting on there sporadically. I might make this a bi-monthly little roundup to help motivate me to keep pursuing projects 😊
1. Granny square blanket
First ever project! Learnt how to crochet using this pattern. I bought a "crochet beginner" kit from an Etsy shop which included four yarn colours, a hook, a darning needle and an information booklet. I was supposed to get access to a facebook group which had tutorial videos but they were slow in adding me to the group, so I ended up turning to video tutorials on YouTube, with the one I used in the final project being BellaCoco's basic granny square.
Tumblr media
Once I'd started making squares (upon squares upon squares) I decided that I wanted to make a patchwork blanket from the completed squares, rather than making one large granny square until it was blanket sized.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To this end, I bought two skeins of brown dk yarn (alas, in ever so slightly different colours 🫣) from a local fabric shop and crocheted an extra row around every. Single. Square (This took fooooorever). Then proceeded to sew the individuals into long rows of squares, which I eventually sewed together into the full blanket. I used a whip stitch to connect my squares which left the front side with a really pleasing ridge between the individual squares!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. Alyssia Creates sun/moon/star squares
High on my granny square success, I wanted to pick up the project that originally inspired me to pick up crochet (I reblogged the post in question earlier today) I decided to attempt a slightly more complicated square design. I had to learn how to make a magic circle for this design and I picked up a bunch more interesting stitches, like a treble and half double crochet. This was also really good in terms of learning how to effectively change colours in a more seamless manner. I've made these designs in a few different colour schemes now; I'm planning on using some of them as coasters and stitching a few of them together to make dice bags for DND!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3. Mushroom lighter holder
Does what it says on the tin. This ended up super messy but it was a successful attempt at a 3d object! Made for my lovely pal Jess! This was fun as I got to do some creative sewing to make the little spots on the mushroom head and I had to sew the strap into the body of the mushroom. Would make again and attempt to tidy up the stitches. Would also try a different pattern to see if I could make one to better fit the lighter in question. I think the design I ended up using was for chapsticks originally, so though I did amend it and add a few more rounds to the body and cap, it could be better proportions-wise!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Upcoming projects include a runner for our living room coffee table based on this granny square pattern (how gorge is it... I've bought new yarn for this project and I'm really excited to try a different brand for the first time...! And to finish up the sun/moon bags and a more finished version of the lighter pouch. After that... Who knows! If anyone would like me to send them some little items PLEASE let me know! I'd love to have a reason to crochet more and there are only so many people in my life who I can gift this stuff to. Ok thanks for reading!! Cya in a few months 😊

My ranking of Kotori's limited SIFAS cards and why
We are SO BACK with the second installment of 'I whine about anime girls in a gacha game'. Kotori this time! I absolutely love her and I had a bit more to say about these somehow than the Honoka cards- Anyway, please enjoy!
4 - Welcome to Kotori's Costume Room
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kotori's second fes card has always left me leaving disappointed, ever since it came out. And this is from a set of festival cards that are generally very strong, to make matters worse. It's not a bad card per se, and could very possibly be someone's favourite, but it's never been for me. The idolised art is certainly pretty, but it stops at just that. This feels like one of those cards that really just feels like it's from an event gacha, not a limited one. It seems a little aimless as a concept, like sure, it's the whole 'costume making' thing with Kotori and her character, but the outfit itself doesn't seem to communicate that like, at all? They definitely could've done something better to show off her established costume making abilities, rather than grabbing a random outfit concept out of seemingly nowhere and making it into this... Underwhelming fes card. The 3D model has a pretty colour scheme and interesting texture usage, and is very nicely faithful to the artwork, but stops entirely at that. The silhouette and general outfit concept feels pretty boring and standard, which absolutely shouldn't be happening for a lim. As a whole, it's pretty underwhelming as a fes card.
3 - Tropical Squash
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kotori's party card pretty much only made it above the second fes card because of it's art. It's a pretty standard idea for a game like this, but oh my lord does it work in this context. The colours and background join together beautifully to make an aesthetic that's certainly very strong and is communicated well instantly. However, my issues start to come in when you look at the 3D model. To start with the good aspects, I really like what they did with the little flourish on the back of the shorts (a common trick for beach themed cards like these to jazz them up a little), and the shorts themselves. The hair too is fitting and the highlight makes it unique. HOWEVER. This is almost all ruined by the absolutely horrendous top and stomach design, which, to me, looks cheap and not at all nice to look at. It might be the simplistic bikini top or the overly bright colours that create this effect, but I really dislike it. The cuts on each side also don't at all help with this, as they feel unnecessary and lessen the outfit. So this was a beach card so close to greatness, but fell short on the chest and midriff so hard that it ruins the whole 3D model for me.
2 - An Elegant Night Party
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the third fes card and the idolised art is absolutely GORGEOUS. Fitting into a similar category as Honoka's second fes card, with the whole 'elegant and formal' theme, but in my opinion, this art is actually done better. The lighting and unique colours work wonders, and the characterisation, dress and hair are both absolutely on point. From art alone, this is actually my favourite out of the four. However, like the previous card, it fails to continue this good streak with the 3D model. The hair and overall vibes stay very strong and work well in this context too, but it's the dress that really disappoints me, it feels like a 'what I ordered vs what I got' sort of comparison. The frills, which seems to be a large focus in the art, are flattened and look much more lifeless and busy when they're all bunched up. I honestly think that had they padded out this section in particular, this model would be absolutely phenomenal. But no, it's that little detail there that seems to fail the whole thing. But, I will repeat, I am absolutely obsessed with the idolised art itself and think they did an amazing job with it.
1 - Humming Angel
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ahh the absolute classic... Kotori's first festival card. I absolutely love what they did with this one, it's a pretty safe bet of an outfit and it absolutely pays off. Everything from the pose to the hair to the theme in the art fits Kotori beautifully, and as one of the first ever fes cards, it sets a great tone for them. This card is an absolute triumph for Kotori in my opinion, and an absolute SIFAS classic. The 3D model too is absolutely brilliant, with the outfit translating excellently and in a way that completely avoids the issue with the last one, with the skirt especially being still full of life and very, very pretty. The colour scheme is well thought out, with the yellow being the same colour as her eyes and the turquoise being a bit of a play on her usual green colour. And completely unlike her second fes card, the slight simplicity does wonders in this case entirely because it already has a solid concept and it's still very unique in itself, silhouette and all. PLUS the hair in the model was done excellently I am obsessed with it, so overall- It's excellent and I love it

Again, tysm if you read this far! I adore a lot of the Kotori cards, and this one was an absolute blast to write honestly. Hope you enjoyed!
