Anyways, this comic absolutely kicked my ASS. Twelve and a half hours on the dot, holy crap. 😭

Definitely not doing a full color comic for a while, I think that might actually kill me lmaooo. I have to admit tho, doing comics is pretty fun so I think I’m gonna keep doing it. Just B&W with maybe the occasional colored panel, when I’m feeling silly. I’ve got like two more ideas before I gotta brainstorm. I’m not great with serious comics so most are probably gonna be silly lol.

Saw something he thought you'd like while on patrol,

"Hey guys, you think they'll like this?" He looks throught the window.

They snicker and shit on him (lovingly in a sibling way)

Whether it was a poster or figurine or comic, he's getting that baby just for you

Obviously he'd get it by paying because stealing would be wrong.

And by paying he means snatching it in the middle of the night and leaving a twenty with an apology note

Hops up to your apartment,

(with his brothers watching from the shadows because they absolutely cannot resist a good show. yes, even Donnie; like a true hypocrite)

He makes sure that neither your parents are there with you and he knocks on the window

You, with your ultra smart brain, immediately knew it was him because it was either that or a murderer that climbed up to specifically your window to murder you

which was unlikely, but hey, so was being friends with a giant turtle

You open your window and are immediately greeted with a shiny (not-so-brand new) comic/poster/figurine of the thing you talked about nonstop for weeks. maybe months. actually now that you think about it it mightve been year—

"Hey."

"Wh-"

"No way. NO WAY." You take it out of his hands (gently) and look at it in awe, before looking up at him with a dazzled expression

(If you squinted you could see sparkles coming off of you)

"What- Where- Dude. Where'd you even find this?!" A wide grin on your face as you look at him.

"Oh y'know.. Patrol and fighting bad guys, awesome stuff. Uh, then, y'know.. I found some merch that I thought you'd like."

"Dude he's seriously blowing this." one of the guys (mikey) whisper. "Yeah, he's worse than Donnie." he says, earning a 'Hey!' from Donnie.

Leo glares at them for a second before turning his attention back to you.

You let out a giddy giggle, "ahh! dude!"

"Dude." You set it down gently and put both of your hands on his shoulders. "I. Love you. So much. You know that?"

He blushes a little, "Well, I mean, it's not really a big de-"

"Not a big deal?! DUDDEE I LOVE IT SO MUCH. Is this a marriage proposal?" You say, shaking him a little.

"Wh- um.. What?" Leo lets out a weak chuckle, he feels his face heating up. "Because I accept. Let's get married, I love you so much. Oh my god, you have no idea-"

Ohhh god.

Yeah, that does it.

Well, even more than it already has.

"Whahahaha... Okay, uh, You don't really mean that, do y-" Oh.

"..Oh, sorry, is that too far? I mean, I do it with my other friends, but I'm not sure- Leo?" Yeah, no this is going to kill him. Kinda pathetic, huh? That a kiss on the cheek could send him spiraling just like that.

"Ah.. hahahah! Okay cool, haha.. uh, bye! I'll ah.. see you tomorrow? yep. Yeah. Okay, bye!"

He runs off.

Finaly finished watching MLP friendship is magic, the final season

Here's a couple of my few spoilery thoughts and reactions:

- when i saw that discord was hogarth my first thought was immediately "oh, thats kinda cute, since he was a redeemed villan, hes trying to teach some of the irredeemable ones about the power of friendship in their own way!" But NOPE! LMAO! hes just a fucking moron that just wanted to give twilight a final boss battle. my god. He keeps fucking up - So glad that they beat the crap out of Cozy glow, that was really funny. fuck them kids - All of the designs of the older mane 6 i very much liked! Exept twilight, i thought it was weird that they copy pasted celestia's lanky body on her (also spike looks WEIRD. but still better than gen 5 spike) - I was watching this all with my gf. When i saw older Applejack and Rainbow dash together with very loosely implied romance i instinctively muttered "i want to kms" It just. instinctively came out of me. Sorry Appledash shippers - I always knew Rarity would be a hot old woman but goddamn im so glad to be proven right. She'd serve cunt all the way to the grave - Brief chaos god pinkie was funny; i thought that was just smth from the comics! I'm already planning on putting that on a fanfic in the future either way heh. - Chrysalis's whole fit was very fun. As always, best villan purely by presentation (ty megamind) - I cant believe starlight glimmer is the one that got like. one of the few actually good fight scenes in the show, against chrysalis. She even did a couple of quips. My god that feels weird. I miss sunset so much. - I cant believe that all we get from Sunset shimmer on FIM is just. a brief, insignificant cameo on that rly awesome cute song in the end, one where she's getting mike-wazowski'd by twilight. Holy shit sunset stans stay losing forever, my god its a sad life for us

For some reason i thought there'd be a war or something? in my head i had heard there was a war on the finale of MLP which i always thought sounds goofy as hell. Glad it wasn't, but otherwise its not like the finale impressed me that much. I mostly cant stop thinking about how sad it is for twilight to rule alone, almost. Like, her friends will age... Oh well. either way, cute finale. I'm glad i sat through all the show. It has definitely done some irreperable damage to my psyche at this point, as you can most definitely tell. Haha can't wait for there to be another generation amirite :)

First, I hadn't expected it to get that much attention, so I took the "I'll get the next part out in a couple weeks" thing VERY LIGHTLY. After the initial single page prequel thing got so much attention, I posted the comic more as a: haha, wouldn't it be funny if that happened again. I didn't expect many people to care.

Alright, so: 'Tuned In', my Radio apple comic. I posted a SINGLE part (and the prequel thing, but I hadn't planned for a comic when I made that) and haven't mentioned it since. It has been WAY MORE than a week. What the hell is going on?

But, then it happened again.

And now I have 200 followers. (thank you for that by the way! Very cool!)

SECOND, the last few weeks have been BUSY (exams are HARD), so I haven't had much time to actually sit down and work on a big drawing project like that.

That all said, I did start chipping away at the project once I realized people actually seemed to like the comic. Mainly, script writing for future parts, as, once again, I haven't really had the time to work on the COMIC part of the comic, but it's something.

Anyways, exams are over now, and I've started looking for a job, but I've still got a LOT more free time on my hands, so I'm ACTUALLY starting to work on it again.

I can't PROMISE when the next part will be out, I'm trying to get into a schedule, but I'll keep y'all posted while I work on it!

TLDR: Exams kept my last couple weeks busy so I couldn't work on it, but I'm working on the comic again!

Oh, it looks to be shaping up that way. A big plot point in this run is that a company called Roxxon bought out the in-universe Marvel comics and then, with help from Amora, used Skald-Magic to bring their own corporation-friendly version of Thor to life. A version who also happens to have Thor’s Ragnarok haircut. They even use the reputation of Thor as a bumbling oaf that they built with their own comics to dull the real Thor’s intelligence. Here’s a quote from yesterday’s issue #9: “Your story on Midgard, Thor. The story of a boor—an oaf—a fool. No wonder you’re befuddled—it’s like an infection in the bone.”

Holy crap that's genius! It'd be interesting to see how it pans out going forward.

But him having the short hair, being "corporation-friendly" lol, and being a bumbling buffoon is pretty much a very pointed jab at Waititi Thor. Al Ewing might be one of us haha.

So this Roxxon comic is a separate thing (as in purchased and read by us) or is it going to be part of Immortal Thor?

I’m working through my inbox but don’t want to drown y’all’s feed in my asks so I’m grouping as many together as I can. Q&A below:

MISC SONIC ASKS

Thank you so very much! I was trying to really combine both Amy and Sonic’s aesthetics. Amy is classy and design oriented so I wanted to keep that feel, but I wanted to show how their home would evolve once she and Sonic start living together. Sonic’s never canonically had a house, but he travels so much that I headcanon that he’s constantly collecting trinkets and souvenirs from all the places he’s visited. So I wanted to give them a very “worldly” design style. If you’re familiar with Uncharted 4, I picture Sonic and Amy’s house being very much like Nate and Elena’s beach house.

I love interior design and architecture but I’m not great at drawing it (yet). Once I improve I want to do a full layout of their house for my stories (and the future Shadora Fortress).

I really enjoyed the movies and I’m excited for the third! I hope they give Shadow a voice that’s deep and delicious and doesn’t sound like a sniveling villain. I don’t like it when they cast him with a very generic evil voice, I prefer it when he’s got depth. Honestly I’d be happy if they stuck with Ian Hanlin, he’s perfect to me. 

For the record, I absolutely love that game. Some of my favorite memories involve me and my best friend playing it. He ABSOLUTELY is an avid gun collector. I love seeing the memes of Shadow just rambling off about gun details. BUT HE KEEPS THAT CRAP LOCKED UP IN A SAFE AND UNLOADED AT ALL TIMES!!!!

At least for my stories he isn’t one to actually threaten to harm anybody for wanting to date his kids. He dealt with that enough trying to be with Aurora. But you can bet he won’t think anybody’s worthy to date his kids lol

First of all, I am ALWAYS down for Sonic singing his feelings. Like that is my #1 favorite thing in every story. Whenever he breaks out the guitar/lute I’m like “HELL YEAH LET’S DO THIS”

Secondly, that SONG omg!!! I’d never heard it before but wow 😭 I couldn’t love it more. I completely agree and thank you so much for sharing with me!

That is so funny that you say that. It was not my intention to make human Sonic look like RCS but honestly he is my favorite Sonic at this point so maybe it came out subliminally! Also I think Roger is just so damn handsome so I will take that as a compliment lol! 

SHIPPING ASKS

I do ship them but I don’t know about them having kids. I don’t really know those characters well enough to write family members for them and I wouldn’t want to do it wrong. Thank you!

I’m fine with any of your ships as long as it’s not with relatives. And as long as you keep my characters “in character” then that’s fine. 

Interesting! 🤔 I haven’t heard that pairing before but hey I’m certainly not going to tell you that you can’t ship them together. 

I loved Amy the minute I saw her so just from a superficial level I was like “These two are too cute together!” But I really fell in love with them when their story evolved and we got to see their dynamism in the games outside of just a cute little pink sprite in Sonic CD. And Sonic X really sealed the deal haha So many romantic moments between them in that show, God bless. 

Sonic and Amy were just making out, not anything more. Orbot and Cubot aren’t accustomed to seeing that so that’s why they reacted that way. 

I don’t have any plans on that at the moment. I like that universe and I especially loved how Sonic acted around her in it, but idk if I’ll make a comic about it. But I can never say never!

PERSONAL ASKS

I’m sorry to have worried you, but honestly I was okay while I was away. I went through a lot of major life events and I had lost my drawing mojo and was fighting to get it back. But now it’s back with a vengeance!

I plan on doing both. I know several amazing parents who do a wonderful job raising their kids and still follow their passion.

Thank you so much! I’m self-taught, but I’ve researched a lot of tutorials and references to help me improve over my life. The number one thing people need to study if they want to do comics or animations or anything is ANATOMY! You don’t have to take an anatomy class (I didn’t), but look up references and tutorials to learn how the spine works, how the muscles work, proportions, etc. Even if your characters don’t fall into the typical human form, you still need to understand skeletal structure and muscles. 

I’m not an avid listener but I do like some if her songs :)

I’m in the process of assembling that. There’s a lot so it’s taking time lol

AURORA ASKS

Thank you! Yes that’s pretty accurate. Their family is all about honesty and telling the truth, but younger Aurora doesn’t like to share all the details with Sonic because he’s so reactive with her and will quickly try to fix whatever the problem is and Aurora wants to learn to fix it herself. Amy is more willing to just listen to Aurora and offer advice if Aurora asks for it. Amy WANTS to beat up whoever is upsetting her daughter but she also knows the importance of learning how to fight for yourself so she wants Aurora to feel empowered to do that. 

Thank you! I hope you’re having a great day too! I think Amy is better at TALKING through feelings and Sonic’s better at the overall cheering up way of handling things. So as long as there’s nothing terribly awful bothering Aurora and she’s just feeling a little down, he’ll find ways to make her laugh. Sometimes that means walking in unexpectedly in a costume to shock her or dragging her out of the room to have a musical jam session together. 

Sonic’s also known to give people flowers when they’re sad in canon (he does this regularly in the games and in Sonic X), so he’ll bring her bright, colorful flowers to make her smile. 

In my AU, Eggman has already kind of peaked by the time of Boom!Baby. He’s softened a lot and isn’t interested so much in world domination as he just wants attention lol. Having Sage and becoming a father further helped me justify that with my AU. 

He's also particularly sentimental towards Aurora since he helped deliver her, so he doesn’t really fight the team anymore. He is more like a constant pain in their sides mucking things up. 

Sonic team is busy fighting other, newer foes in my AU.

Their biggest challenge is going to be the Time Travel comic that I haven’t completed yet. It’s hardest because not only will lives be put on the line, but it also touches on trust and when to let go. I’m sorry I can’t give you a more detailed answer yet but I don’t want to spoil the plot! And thank you so much! 

MISC ASKS RELATED TO MY AU

Yes I just need to draw them. There are so many dang Sonic characters hahaha

It’s VERY important to Aurora for her parents to give their blessing, so Shadow will honor that and ask them for it. I already know how and when he’s going to do it, but I can’t spoil it for you yet! 😉

They’ve had three litters. I headcanon that back in the day hedgehogs used to have litters (2 or more kids) all the time but that became less and less common in modern day. But I also headcanon that as the Ultimate Lifeform, Shadow was engineered to be able to… multiply effectively. So even though they’ve only been pregnant 3 times, they keep having triplets or twins. 

I do consider the First Kiss comic canon to my AU. But it happened a while before My Gal, maybe like a year or so before. Give them time to stew on that kiss hehehe

They just wanted to make a life change. The stars just happened to align at the same time haha

All the kids’ names are supposed to be based on their personalities or powers. Most Sonic characters are named that way, so I don’t know if it’s canon for Mobian parents to sense what their kid’s powers will be or not. Aurora has dreams that sometimes give her premonitions so she had inklings to what their kids might be like so she and Shadow could brainstorm ideas based on that. Also a lot of their names are outer-space-related or at least outer-space-adjacent and that was because Shadow’s a space man lol So he had influence in that. 

Sonic wants all his descendants named Sonic II so he’s no help lol.

There are 3 litters. The first litter has the triplets Piper, Zane and Nova. The second litter was born almost a year and a half later and has the twins Aster and Blitz. The third litter was immediately after and that has the triplets Cinder, Diamond and Boon. All this information is listed in their character reference post. 

In the beginning the family mostly just stuck to ordering online and getting home deliveries lol. But if they do have to do a grocery store run it’s a full family event. The kids all ride on Shadow (see this post). Their house has two fridges to accommodate for all the mouths to feed!

Their life certainly isn’t boring anymore 😂 It’s exhausting but they’re happy (also there are 8 kids haha!)

Aurora definitely would have asked him about this, but at least in my stories Sonic became an orphan at a young age and I don’t have him with any siblings. 

I’ve had another person ask me who I picture Sonic’s parents as and I do plan on drawing a reference of them, but they’ll be unique to my stories. They won’t be from any other Sonic media. 

I don’t draw Aleena, Manic and Sonia because of a couple reasons. I never watched Sonic Underground so I don’t have the allegiance/nostalgia that a lot of people have to that show. Also for my own preference, I don’t like the idea of Sonic being born to royalty. It doesn’t suit him, in my opinion. That doesn’t mean I don’t respect people who have that as a part of their canon and it doesn’t mean I have any bad feelings towards the Underground characters. I just don’t draw them. I grew up on the games and later Sonic X and Sonic Boom so my stories revolve around what I know. 

It’s funny that you mention that ship because I only just learned about it from Starrjoy’s P!AU comic. Again I didn’t watch Sonic Underground so I don’t know who Bernadette is, but sure I’m down for Sonic having two moms. Families come in all shapes and sizes, so as long as they’re a loving parent or parents then I support it. 

They love all their grandkids and they love spending time with them, but I think in their older age Sonic and Amy go off on more adventures again. They never stopped adventuring, but they settled down a bit while raising Aurora. Now they’re relishing a second wind and they’re frequently going on worldly explorations.  

But they always make sure to attend any events the kids are involved with and are always home on Sundays for family dinner. Sunday night is dinner at Grandma and Grandpa’s! <— I have them always having dinner at their house on Sundays even before Aurora and Shadow have kids

To be honest, I never felt like they needed more. I had a comic where they discussed it hypothetically, but they’re content with just having the one kid. (Don’t worry, just because they’re not having kids does NOT mean they aren’t… active 😈 They’re very VERY much so!). I am okay with fan stories where people give Aurora siblings and there’s a fic I’m reading right now that involves Sonic and Amy having a whoopsie baby way late in life and adult Aurora is having to deal with that and I love it lol. But just for my own writing, it’s a single-child household.

Day 11 of Rammstein's Countdown to Halloween

Tonight, Split (2016, dir. M. Night Shyamalan)

Plot: Three girls are taken and imprisoned by a man with dissociative personality disorder somewhere in a underground cellar.

Okay, now I know he gets a lot of crap sometimes and I'll admit, the live action Avatar, The Last Airbender was a hit and miss, but I actually really enjoy Shyamalan's films. I think they are creative and very intriguing to say the least.

Now, Split is a part of a trilogy known as The Unbreakable Trilogy (or Eastrail 177) which a superhero thriller/horror story that fallows a man known as Mr. Glass who goes out of his way to make superheroes, just like the comic books.

Now, despite it being a part of something bigger and don't get me wrong, it's actually on of my favourite trilogies ever, other than The Hobbit/Fellowship, haha and I actually feel that Split can be its own stand alone film. Now honestly, I think that is absolute amazing when you can a film that is a part of a franchise, let alone, the middle part of one, and stands out from the rest that really says something and I think that's all thanks to the writing and acting done here.

The writing is so powerful and really you can see that this film was written with care. There are so many great lines in here it's just wow.

The set up and design for the film just scream thriller and help set the dark undertone for the film.

Finally, the acting from the leads alone is just wow. Really, every member did an amazing job.

Ana Taylor-Joy is such a convincing final girl and to be me, she fits as one of the best scream queens ever.

James McAvoy, I just don't know where to begin. I honestly think did does NOT get enough recognition for his work, especially for this performance. The fact that he can just switch characters/personalities so seamlessly and effortlessly just blows me away. He delivers ever line with such force and grace he honestly carried this movie.

I recommend this whole trilogy, but definitely take the time to look this one over, it deserves all the attention it can get.

Ana love, idk if u keep up with comics but in the new Nightwing run we might be getting a sidekick for nightwing and idk how I feel about it btw :(

Im torn bc like, I have ALWAYS wanted Damian Wayne to be his “Robin” and for them to do a Robin Returns arc but like Robin returns to Dick, not not Batman. Like Robin finally returns to Dick Grayson but in the form of his own sidekick, Damian Wayne. It’s wishful thinking, I know, bc like, no one can have a Robin unless they’re Batman. But idk, the one run where Dick was Batman and Damian was his Robin, his almost son. It holds soooo much space in my heart and I want DC writers to return them to their fatherly-son roots.

On the other hand, I really think it goes against Dick’s character to take an orphan boy (as the new chapters have depicted a boy who had seen his dad murder by (possibly) Heartless) and do the same thing Bruce did to him (aka child soldier) when he’s seen the path himself and his friends have gone down due to following in their parental figure’s footsteps.

Like, I can see Dick picking up a sidekick that has already been brought into the vigilante world by someone else (YK LIKE DAMIAN WAYNE) bc he would take it as his responsibility to look after them and make sure they’re still somewhat protected and still have their childhood and innocence even tho they’re been forced into this line of work.

But I really really really can’t see THE Dick Grayson introduce an innocent kid into the hero life.

He’s fr recognised as the hero Batman should have been. So I think it goes against his character to follow in Bruce’s footsteps like this…

It's the first time I'm hearing about it actually but I feel you so much, anon!

I really want Damian to be Dick's Robin. I want him to become Nightwing in the future. Dick had a greater impact on Damian - because Bruce wasn't there but also because Bruce is kinda shit at dealing with people, while Dick is... well, Dick haha And yeah, Robin was always Batman's partner but maybe it should change now (soon?)

And I too don't think Dick would ever get the child he adopts into the vigiliante business. Or any child to be honest. He wouldn't want it - he knows firsthand how it is to be the child soldier, all the danger that comes out of it and I know that he would do everything in his might to stop the kiddo from following in his path. Unless the writers do something smart for once and go with the whole "I can't stop him so at least I'll keep an eye on him and protect him while he punches bad people" - the same way it was with Bruce and Dick at first but still... I don't really like it. It could be fun if Dick just adopted the kid without all that sidekick crap and writers would focus on more family shenanigans, maybe with Damian being the jealous little brother/son - but I bet DC would think it's too boring 🙄

And yeah, you're totally right about Dick taking under his wings a kid who already is a vigilante and how he would never bring a new kiddo into the vigilante world. It would go against his character so much but... not like writers really care about that stuff anymore.

I think there would be a way to write that story pretty well and not fuck up Dick's character entirely though the sheer idea puts a sour taste in my mouth. But if you're saying it's going to be Tom Taylor's run... well, I don't have a lot of hope 😫

more fanfic crap

note this isn't directly related to my macy middle school au (i mean it takes place in the same world but like its not in the story, ya know what i mean), don't worry im still working on that. this takes place in macys 4th year at the academy, meaing shes 16. you can read this as clacy or not I don't really care. so lets a start this cringe fest!!

St Valentine Days, it wasn’t one of Macy’s favorites holidays. She didn’t hate it, the idea of having a day decimated to love was sweet but, it’s just it could get annoying at times. Every year without fail she would show up to her classes with a mountain of ‘love letters, confessions, or gifts’ from people she barely knew. She wasn’t stupid, she knew a bit under half of the people that gave these um ‘items of affection’ were just hoping to get in a relationship with her for political, economic, or social benefit it would bring their family. But the fact that some of people had the nerve to get mad at her for not choosing their specific ‘love confession’ out of the other 20 she got that morning made her furious. Most of these ‘confessions’ felt like the same copy and pasted letter with a few words moved around the same way they would do for their assignments that way they wouldn’t get flagged for plagiarism. And while she found these letters sweet the first year, she didn’t feel same three years later.

Maybe she would care more if they said something about her as a person, but none of them ever did. She they would say how she was so intelligent, hardworking, kind, and so on but everyone knew that because that how she acted around her peers. Not a single letter, gift, or confession in her four years of attending the Knights Academy ever seemed like the giver felt anything more than simple crush. She got flowers, chocolates, even a power mace once (she made sure to thank the boy who gave her that) but she never got something she truly wanted. Oh how she longed for someone to get her a Ned Knightly comic or a digital copy of “All is Well on the Southern Front,” something personal. But of course, no one looking from an outsider’s point of view would know that and it didn’t help that she was distant with almost everyone in the academy so of course they would get her something vague. She never let anyone too close so how would anyone know her?

Well almost everyone.

She had a small group of friends that she could say knew her. Aaron, Axl, Clay, Lance, and Jestro were her only real friends that she made during her four years at the Knights Academy so whenever St Valentines Day would come around the corner, she would just share her gifts with them.

She thought this year would be no different.

As she walked into her homeroom, she saw a pile of chocolates and cards piled on top of her desk, ‘Great’ she thought ‘More people I need to reject this year, that pile is at least smaller than lasts class so it shouldn’t take too long.’ As she sat down, she opened each card to read them taking note of the people she would have to reject. As she’s reading her fourth cad, she hears a familiar voice.

“Good morning Macy I hope you aren’t planning on eating all of those chocolates, I wouldn’t want you to loose all of your teeth before lunch” Clay jokingly said taking a seat next to her.

“Haha very funny Clay” Macy replies in a sarcastic tone despite the clear smile on her face

“Oh by the way I have a gift for you” Clay says

“Wait what?” Macy said, while she had gotten gifts from Clay before they were never given on Valentine's Day.

As she looked up from her card, she saw Clay reaching into his bag to pull something out. He then turned to face her with a wrapped box in hand.

“What’s in it?” She asks

“I don’t think supposed to tell you.” He replied. Macy just stared at him for a second trying to read his face but all she saw was a face of joy and anticipation. Like he new that she’s going to love whatever was inside that gift. ‘He looks so happy and proud’ she thought.

She reached out and grabbed the gift, it seemed to be inside the box not the box itself. She shook it a bit trying to guess what it was before she opened it. Whatever it was moved around a lot making her it was smaller than the box implied.

‘Maybe a book?’

After a sufficient amount of shaking, she decided to open hoping that her shaking didn’t damage whatever was inside. As she carefully took of the layer of wrapping paper she was met with a plain box.

“Why couldn’t you just wrap the item itself?” Macy asked, faking annoyance

“Wait I’m just supposed to wrap the item?” Clay asked looking a bit distressed at his assumed mistake.

“Relax I’m just messing with you, the fact you got anything is all that matters.” Macy said hoping to clam Clays rising anxiety levels. It seemingly worked as his faced lost its look of fear it had just a few seconds ago.

As Macy turned back to the box in her hand, she flipped it around looking for an opening. She found a piece of tape that seemed to be keeping the box closed so she reached for a pen and stabbed the tape making a small hole she could use to open the box. Clay looked on with a slightly concerned face and said,

“You know you could have used a pair of scissors, right?”

“Yeah, but what’s the fun in that?”

When Macy was finally able to open the box she took its contents, a book titled “Ned Knightly Issue 12” but she could easily tell it was much more than that. She quickly turned it to the back looking for the publishment date and there it said June 25, 2002. This was a first edition copy of Issue 12 from over a thousand years ago, how the hell did Clay afford this? This was a collector’s item valued at thousands of times its original price, and Clay wasn’t even an active fan of the Ned Knightly series so how did he even find this? Her own father didn’t even own that issue.

“H-how did you get this?” Macy asked barely being able to get the words out.

“Oh well I was shopping to get you a Valentine's Day gift to show how much I valued our friendship when I passed by the pawn shop and decided to see if there was anything in there you’d like when I saw that comic. I thought that you may like it since it seemed like one of the older issues, sorry if it’s worthless you know I don’t know much about these comics.” Clay said scratching the back of his neck seemingly out of embarrassment.

Macy was shocked, he had gotten her a priceless comic on accident for Valentines Day. She didn’t know what to say so she just hugged him, after carefully putting down the comic of course.

“Ah- I’m assuming you liked it?” Clay said with smile Macy couldn’t see.

“Thank you so much Clay, you have no idea how much this means to me. Even if it was worthless the fact you got something more than just some stupid chocolates means everything to me, thank you so much” Macy could feel herself about to start crying. She was so lucky she thought, to have someone that cared and knew her so well by her side. She silently promised herself to somehow repay him for everything he’s done for her. He was truly the best friend she could ever ask for.

not sure, i just know that after having to live with me for 3 years that Quatsch knows how to read me before i do haha. i guess i shut down emotionally when i am upset or tired - most of the time it is just overstimulation or too much socializing and not actual anger At people but i guess it comes across that way.

Its funny, im like 60 chapters in and fire force seems like a little fun series but yeah the worst part is the fanservice or better said how it seems to ruin all female charachters, and not even in a "against my morals way" but that they all just are either boring talking about wanting to be better at cooking and doing nothing in fights for the most part or are just weird fetish things like "haha I wanna step on you Im a dominatrix fetish thing, this is funny and not anoying or creepy for sure!"

As I've said before, it is weird how I enjoyed Fire Force when it was its own thing, before that stupid "Assault is attracted to Tamaki" crap and "we got meta going into the final arc to make this tie into another series" crap.

I talk a bit here (https://soul-dwelling.tumblr.com/post/715175622123683840) about how I once made a thread showing the variety of girls and women in Fire Force--and how that variety shows that, no, they aren't boring or just trying to get better at tasks traditionally associated with girls and women and aren't in the fights.

For all the (deserved) crap I give Ohkubo about how he handled Tamaki and fanservice, he had so much potential in Fire Force with the variety of girls and women in this one series--and it just falls apart, because for all that variety, he can't stop himself from reducing Tamaki to fanservice incarnate, distracting from what else works in the series. It is seeing a decent or even good story--and not being able to enjoy it because one point sticks out too much, that shows something unappealing in an author's seeming philosophy.

(And given how he has characters speaking directly at the reader about how they should see Tamaki, it is hard not to see this as his own philosophy.)

The problem is when the story gives up on those ideas, about the variety of girls and women in this story. Look at where Lisa's arc goes in Fire Force, and how, at least for me, unsatisfying it wraps up: no last confrontation with Giovanni, repeating the same gag of Shinra groping her, ending her story with just her and Maki hanging out. It feels like a missed opportunity to comment in a meaningful way how someone like Lisa didn't want to be part of this fight--but also not letting her show that, even if she didn't want to be in this fight, she's sure as hell going to end it.

When you have Tamaki cooking--just for a naked apron gag that doesn't fit (and no, even when you learn why Tamaki ends up in these situations, it doesn't fit and doesn't fix this).

When you have Iris, Maki, and Tamaki worried they will get fat from Takehisa's cooking, that should just be a moment of being a concern for anyone--but (as with that one My Hero Academia: Team Up Missions chapter) there is this unfair association with body image being a problem for girls and women, as if this is not a concern for people of all genders and ages, and it doesn't feel like it was treated as "this sucks, let's not do this to girls and women," it's treated as a stereotypical gag. It almost makes me wish Akitaru jumped in and said the same thing, given his fitness-minded attitude, so that you show this isn't just a girls' or women's concern, this is a concern just about any person has.

You have Maki as a brawler, and I appreciate how her story is also centered around being someone wanting to be beautiful and lovey-dovey and a romantic--and also a fit muscular fighter who can kick ass. But we stage at least two of those discussions in the showers, because fanservice. It doesn't come across as progressive; it's the Joss Whedon problem of taking feminist ideals and still putting them into terms to appeal to the male gaze: "Look how independent she is and how good she is in a fight! This turns me on, and is the only reason this is valid."

Hibana at least has a complex personality, so the dominatrix stuff gets pulled back--which has at least three problems.

First, this is again reducing BDSM content to just a joke. And maybe this comic isn't the place to explore its validity and how it works with acknowledgement of consent, but for a series that (by the final arc) acts like it wants to talk about how repressed people are sexually, it sure as hell enjoys reducing sex to a joke or a kink to be shamed. (I don't want to ignore that consent isn't exactly clear in any of this, either: we're presenting her subordinates forced into being her chair and so on, and that comes across as sexual harassment by a boss and a military commander, not consent by these subordinates.)

Second, some of Hibana's pseudo-dominatrix aspects get pulled back just as she is changing her alignment to the "good guys," again taking this complex sexual desire stuff and reducing it to a black-and-white moral binary: "look, Hibana is now good because we pulled back on her dominatrix aspects." Ohkubo does realize ethical people and morally upstanding people do enjoy sex that can be considered "naughty" and "bad," right?

Finally, we substitute Hibana's dominatrix aesthetic with her being shy around (underage) Shinra because she's now attracted to her. We have moved from her being comfortable with herself in her own body, albeit with the continued work of living with trauma, to someone who is awkward around Shinra. We substitute dominatrix with her hitting on a minor. This is not progress, this is worse.
