Flagging!
Aka, how some LGBTQ+ people choose to signal to others that they're LGBTQ+.
Could be pins, buttons, colors, actual literal flags, haircuts, and so much more - some of which has a long history in the community!
Some people choose not to flag for their safety, or just for their preference. And just because you may do or wear one of these things doesn't mean you have to be a specific identity, of course.

Alright fuckers, since the "according to the hanky code he's looking to be fisted" tags are mine, it's history lesson time!
The hanky code and earring code are ancient elements of queer culture. In fact, I only have my right ear pierced because "Left is right and right is wrong."
When it comes to colorful hankies, there are certain patterns and color combos to use. You wore them in your back pants pockets or around your biceps! It was very common at gay bars to see people (primarily dudes) sporting multiple colors on different arms.
