Wyatt’s stomach was still churning too uncomfortably for him to think about dinner, nor did Brynn seem too bothered either; she was far more interested in taking herself to bed. He’d been too distracted to notice earlier, but he suddenly realised she hadn’t even brought a bag along with her.
Wyatt: You didn’t bring anything with you?
Brynn: I not really have anything…
Wyatt: If I knew you were going to set out with nothing, I might not have been so keen to let you leave.
Brynn: It was important to me.
Wyatt: I know.
Brynn: You came to find me, didn’t you?
Wyatt: Perhaps-.. but I changed my mind in the end.
Brynn: Before or after you fail?
Wyatt: [snorts] In between.
Brynn: I not mean to ghost you-.. I hoped to get a new phone, but something more important popped up.
Wyatt: It’s okay.. I have your phone, by the way.
Brynn: Oh-.. is Gael still breathing?
Wyatt: Unfortunately.
Brynn: Maybe you knock some sense into him.
Wyatt: I doubt it.
Brynn: Hm, me too-.. I would have liked to see his face.
[Wyatt snickered lowly; he should’ve taken a picture]
Wyatt: Would you still have come back? You know, if it weren’t for-…
Brynn: I always plan on coming home.
Wyatt: I take it you were busy saving your money?
Brynn: Yes! Though your friend Darien helped me in the end.
Wyatt: I’ll have to pay him back then.
Brynn: Pfft, I pay myself! That’s why I take so long.
Wyatt: I could’ve helped you, if you’d asked.
Brynn: I not think it fair.
Wyatt: What do you mean?
Brynn: Is so expensive.
Wyatt: And?
Brynn: I not want to bankrupt you.
[Wyatt squinted, realising he’d never mentioned the fact that his lifestyle didn’t quite match his bank account]
Wyatt: Brynn, I could buy us a private jet if I wanted-.. several, in fact.
Brynn: Really..?
Wyatt: Mhm.
Brynn: You live so modestly; I never would know.
Wyatt: Well, at least you’re not after my money.
Brynn chuckled sleepily; she hadn’t returned with the intent to sit idly on her hands, but it was nice to know there was no rush to find employment, or to make money. She was beyond exhausted after the past few months
Brynn: Does that mean I not have to get a job?
Wyatt: Not unless you want one.
Brynn: Will you keep yours?
Wyatt: Probably not. I just wanted to know what it felt like-.. mundanity.
Brynn: Is kind of rewarding, no?
Wyatt: Oddly so.
Brynn: I think we have something more rewarding to spend our time on soon.
Wyatt: How long do we have to, uh.. prepare?
Brynn: I not know exactly.
Wyatt: You haven’t been to the doctors?
Brynn: I not able to just walk in without being registered! I feel fine, anyway.
Wyatt: We’ll sort it out tomorrow-.. get you some clothes n’ stuff afterward.
Brynn: You are soft.
Wyatt: Only for you.
With no worries left unsaid and no more secrets between them, Brynn draped herself over Wyatt and crashed-.. hard. Some people clearly didn’t understand her choices, but she’d never felt so loved, seen, or safe with anyone else before. She was finally home, and for the first time in her life, she was truly content…

thinking about g/t in terms of distance. metaphorical distance, shooting both further and farther away from someone as you grow. the disconnect from a human and the pixie village that lives next door. a giant watching humans run past their feet. a house and the mice-like people its inhabitants will never see. there's a disconnect between power, viewpoints, even sound, as you have to shout up someone or whisper down just to have a conversation. the knowledge of i could do anything to you and the instinct to flinch at rumbling footsteps. what i'm trying to say is that it's so, so, so easy to look the other way from tiny forms struggling at your feet, to destroy a house with a single movement, to keep walking as if nothing's happened. perhaps a someone grown in an emergency could look at their friend with something more than indifference. it's just easy to do nothing, even as others are in danger. who are the dolls around them to judge? do you interfere watching a tiny person lose to a prey animal, or do you let nature take its course?
but, in a way, it's about caring. respect. it's not hauling someone up by the shoulders and buckling under their weight; for as easy as it is to walk away, it costs absolutely nothing to care. it's as simple as breathing to hold a massive hand out, stopping a group of adventurers from walking off a cliff. to lift a few, wooden scraps off a borrower trapped underneath. to listen to a tiny voice laughing in one's ear. you could tower above buildings but still bridge the gap. it's not that you don't matter. it's just that i can care for you with a single hand. only in the literal sense am i above you. come out from hiding. leave your worries behind, little one. it makes no difference to me whether i stay or look away.
it's our distance, perhaps, that lets me protect you.

sskk no powers au where they both go to the same cafe everyday to draw
on atsushi’s side
he goes everyday, orders a drink and a new sweet to try and then he sits near a window to sketch
sometimes a friend will come along - but the cafe isn’t too loud but has a steady amount of people and to atsushi its a perfect place to sketch and get ideas for his work
he likes to sketch all sorts of ppl
the short hatted ginger who he’d seen when he’d gone out with dazai - who had been lovely to draw until he saw dazai scowled and stomped away much to atsushi’s confusion
the red headed girl who’d noticed him drawing and struck up a conversation with him and was now one of his dearest friends lucy
and him
he came to the cafe just as much as atsushi himself
he’d sit in the corner and scribble away
always alone
he had long elegant fingers and pale skin, dark hair the lightened at the bottom that he’d pull back after sitting there for a while
he always wore black and kept to himself
he was the most beautiful person atsushi’s eyes had ever seen
and in no time atsushi’s sketch book was filled with him
/
when atsushi’s friend called him up about a gallery type event open to a wide range of invited artists he’d been excited
especially when all that the theme had been was a simple ‘beauty’
his cheeks were only a little red when his section was filled with the same muse
//
on akutagawa’s side
akutagawa finds drawing ppl to be rather dull
humans can be intriguing but individually? akutagawa’s art focuses on the world - landscapes - groups of humans travelling - never one single person
akutagawa comes to the cafe after a long week of not being able to find anything intriguing enough
cafe’s are relatively crowded so he thinks he can sketch for a while until something hits him
when he sees him
the sunlight from the window illuminating white hair, long lashes brushing his cheeks as he looked down at whatever was in front of him, pink lips curled into a small genuine smile
when the boy looked up, potentially becuz he felt akutagawa’s staring, akutagawa saw his eyes, purple and gold
akutagawa ryuunosuke was a smitten man
and before he knew it, he was coming back to the cafe every day hoping to catch a glimpse of the man, hsi pencil tracing the shapes of him over and over in his sketchbook
akutagawa had been wrong
this one person was the most breathtaking view, nothing else in the world could ever compare
objectively of course
/
akutagawa’s friends notice his newfound muse as they help him take out the pieces he’s selected for his section in the gallery of his sister’s friend’s friend
akutagawa thinks its just becuz they know him so well - not all his works featured the boy’s face - though all were inspired by him
no one else would notice
well
other than the white haired boy standing in front of his work, wide eyed, red cheeked, and mouth agape
akutagawa would be embarrassed if he himself hadn’t just seen the white haired boy- atsushi nakajima’s - work himself
//
so pretty much artist atsushi draws cute cafe boy and ends up putting cute cafe boy inspired pieces in a gallery and akutagawa draws his own cute cafe boy and puts them in the same event and boom they’re drawing each other so now they’re in the middle of the gallery doing that one spider man meme
