say what you want about hannibal but he would never misgender you, in fact he would give you free top surgery and giggle at the dinner table about how this chicken had no use for these juicy breasts and give toast to you

Girl Dad | Captain John Price
Tumblr media
Despite a busy and inconsistent schedule Price always makes sure he can spend time with his daughter.
This is almost all fluffy with a touch of angst and Price trying his best.
AN: Based on this post I made a while back. S/O to @guyfieriii for listening to me talk about how much I love Dad!Price.
Tumblr media
He had to stop checking his watch. Her train would get there soon. He should have just taken the drive down to Oxford to pick her up and take her back. He wouldn’t have minded. He hated how busy Victoria Station was. What if she got off at the wrong station or got lost in the crowd? He should text her. Make sure she was okay.
‘She’s almost an adult. Stop babying her, John.’ Her mum, Emma, had scolded him.
She was sixteen now, his Agatha. She was sixteen and he had missed so much. A long weekend at the end of her winter holiday seemed unfair but he didn’t dare ask for more. He had to stay content with his flat’s extra bedroom being empty most of the time. A couple of weekends here and there when he was in town and she was out of school.
He’d made sure her bed had clean sheets and that the pantry was stocked up on her favorite snacks. At least they were her favorites the last time she stayed with him. That was in August. He texted and called as often as he could but not as often as he would like. He had a stack of wrapped-up souvenirs for her. He tried to grab something from every country he went to. That was his consolation for being gone all the time. Little gifts for her so she knew he was thinking of her.
A brightly colored blanket from his weekend in Mexico.
A mug with Chicago’s flag on it that he’d had to send Gaz to get since he was injured.
A stuffed Miffy doll from Amsterdam.
She always liked rabbits. The first toy he ever bought her was a stuffed Peter Rabbit. She was already walking and talking at that point.
The train pulled in. He stood up from the bench, looking over all the exiting passengers' heads to find her. He saw her. She was taller, came up to his shoulders now. She looked so much like her mum. She had his eyes though, bright blue that shined when she smiled. He broke into a grin seeing she was wearing the jacket he got her for Christmas last year. She’d mentioned she liked his so he got her a matching one.
“Aggie!” He called, trying not to seem too eager as he made his way through the crowd. He was quick to grab her bag and sling it over his shoulder. “I got that, love.”
“Hey, Dad. Missed you.” He smiled that she still stood up on the tips of her feet to hug him.
“Missed you, Aggie.” He ruffled her hair. Almost four months since he last got to hug her. She was all his regrets rolled into one perfect person. “Let’s get out of here.”
He was glad he ordered Chinese takeaway ahead of time. A quick stop to pick it up before continuing to his flat. He stuck to small talk during the drive.
How did the term end? Good
Sorry, I missed Christmas. What did your mum get you? New Laptop
Did you cut your hair? It looks nice. I didn’t
Anything more and she’d be able to see his knuckles turn white around the steering wheel. He wasn’t upset with her, he could never be upset with her. He was upset with himself, how disconnected he was from her sometimes. He knew texts and video calls didn’t compare to being there. She was a stranger to him. Someone he had to meet again and again.
He’d drop her back off at the station again on Monday and when he finally saw her again in a couple of months she’d be a different person again. She was growing so fast and he was blinking through it. Seeing glimpses of the woman she was growing into. A scrapbook of fatherhood was all he had. Little moments here and there. It weighed him down like nothing else.
“Your room is ready, same as always. Left a couple of things for ya. Get settled, I’ll get dinner ready.” He had carried the food and her bag up to his flat despite protests and eye rolls. “Let me be a dad, eh?”
He set out plates, silverware and laid out all the food on his small dining table. He had a stack of DVDs for her to pick from to watch afterward. In front of her plate, he placed her Christmas gift. He wanted to mail it to her but it wouldn’t have made it in time. He wanted to watch her open it anyway.
“You traveled a lot this time,” She said, padding into the room softly. A brown paper-wrapped package was in her hand. “Thank you, Dad”
“I’m glad you like ‘em. Kyle picked the mug out for ya.” He pulled out her chair for her.
“Good taste.” She sat down and looked at the wrapped-up present in front of her and then back up at him with a smile. “More gifts?”
“Happy Christmas, Aggie.” He kissed her temple.
“This is for you. Happy Christmas, Dad.” She handed him the package. He smiled and held it to his chest before sitting down across from her.
“You first.” He waved her on. She still opened presents like when she was little. Tearing slowly at the paper so it wouldn’t rip. As she slipped the paper off she whipped her head up to grin at him. He’d had to ask for help tracking it down and it was Kyle who eventually found it at a Waterstones. A signed copy of the new book in her favorite fantasy series.
“It’s signed?” She opened up the book and smiled down at the sharpie signature. “Thank you!”
She flipped the book over in her hands a few times, grinning till her face hurt.
“Open yours!” She said, turning her attention back to him. He used his thumb to tear through the tape around the edges of the package. He pulled out a pale blue photo album. On the cover was a picture of them when they made a trip to Snowdonia the previous Summer. He’d sat his phone on a rock and then had to run in order to pose with her in time. It had taken a couple of tries but the final result was worth it. The two of them standing on a mountain in the late afternoon sun.
He flipped through the pages. Each of their trips had its own page, with photos, ticket stubs, napkins, and postcards. There were still blank pages in the back. More time for more adventures. God, he hoped they’d be able to fill them.
“Thank you, Aggie.” He was glad his beard hid how he had to bite the inside of his mouth to stop himself from tearing up. “Now, let’s eat. I’m famished.”
They passed around the plastic take-out dishes as they filled their plates. He’d sprung for the sparkling water she liked even though he thought it was flavorless. He couldn’t help but stare at her sometimes and admire how good of a job her mum had done.
He would never be Father of the Year. His absence in the first year of her life had assured that. He’d made the monthly payments to her Mum but he said he was too young to raise a child, a poor excuse considering Emma was only a couple of months older than him. Almost getting blown up and seeing how excited one of the other privates was about meeting their firstborn once they got back to England change his perspective.
He had to beg Emma to let him see her. She was already walking and saying ‘mama’. He sat on his ex-girlfriend’s couch and held his little girl for the first time. She looked at him with the same curiosity she looked at everything new, even now. The early years were a struggle. Too long of a mission and she would barely remember him when he got back. That’s when the presents started. So she’d always have something to remember him and know where he was when he was gone. Fifteen years had blazed by in an instant and he still regretted missing the first.
“How are your A-levels?” He asked, forcing himself not to wallow.
“Good. Peter said if I’m on track to get accepted to Oxford if I wanted. Get a tuition discount if I did.”
“Peter? Oh…yeah… your mum’s husband.” He should remember by now. They’d been married long enough. “He works at Oxford?”
“He’s a Professor.”
“Fancy.” He’d never liked Peter. He knew there was nothing actually wrong with him except that he got to spend more time with Aggie.
“Yeah, he worked really hard for it. He’s full-time now.”
Price nodded. He could have been a Uni Professor if he wanted, he just had bigger ambitions than being stuck at a desk all day.
“Are you still thinking about doing art?”
“Yeah, I just need to decide on a concentration. I like a bunch of stuff right now. There’s this maker space by the house and they have a bunch of stuff so I’ve been trying new things. Started doing some print-making stuff like linocuts.”
“What’s a linocut?”
He just wanted to hear her talk. He had a few of her pieces hung up around the flat. He got everyone framed and it was honestly the only art he had. He loved all of them. He loved when she pulled out her phone and showed him all the things she’d been working on. Failed crochet projects, a half-finished painting, and a mug that had apparently exploded during firing but she had made more so it was okay. He asked her to make him a mug, he’d pay her for it.
“I’m a supporter of the arts.”
He let her talk till their plates were cleared and she was asking about what movie they were going to watch.
“Not Lord of the Rings,” She pleaded.
“Don’t worry, I’m letting you choose.” He pointed out the stack of discs by the coffee table. “I’ll put the dishes away. You get it started.”
The DVD menu was on the screen when he came back in. She’d chosen 28 Days Later.
“Good choice.” He sat down next to her, letting his arms rest against the back of the couch. She leaned against his shoulder as the movie started. They’d seen it several times before. Scared the life out of her the first time. He told her that if anything like that happened in real life, he’d fight his way to Oxford to protect her and her mum (and Peter now, too).
“Anything else going on in your life? Got a boyfriend?” His question was casual but he felt her tense up and move away from him. He paused the movie.
She was sitting on the couch with her knees pulled up so her chin could rest on them. She didn’t look right.
“Aggie? Everything okay?” He sat down on the couch beside her and laid a hand on hers.
“I need to tell you something.” She looked anxious, her eyes watery.
“If someone hurt you.” His voice got low. He didn’t know if she had a boyfriend but god help the bastard if he or anyone else hurt his girl.
“No, no, it’s not like that.” She moved to sit crisscross. “I don’t ummm… I don’t know how to say this.”
“Agatha, you can tell me anything.” He squeezed her hand reassuringly. He hoped it wasn’t drugs or worse. Whatever it was he wouldn’t be mad, he refused to ever yell at her. He’d be better than that.
“I’m lesbian, Dad.” She looked at him nervously. He squeezed her hand again. He wasn’t sure what to say. ‘Congrats?’ ‘I’m proud of you?’
“I love you, Agatha.” He hugged her, pulling her tight against him. Should he have known? It didn’t matter to him, she was still Aggie. He didn’t like how anxious she was telling him though. He never wanted her to feel like anything she could do would change how he felt. “I’ll always love you.”
She sniffled softly and he kissed the top of her head.
“You remember how I told you about Kate Laswell, the woman I work with? She’s a lesbian. Married and everything.” He nodded, shaking her shoulder jokingly.
“And everything?” Agatha laughed.
“Everything. Gonna have a lot of questions for her later.”
“Like what?” She frowned.
“Do lesbians still like hanging out with their dads?”
“They do.” She smiled and leaned back against his shoulder. He smiled down at her. His Agatha.

As a reminder that good exists out there, a coworker recently confessed to me that he found out his child is questioning their identity (kid's gender redacted for this post). The kid is keeping it from him, so he can't say anything to them or show that he knows, but he's doing his best to get mentally prepared and educated so that he'll be ready whenever his kid does feel comfortable enough come to him.
For context, this guy is a big, bulky middle aged dude who loves sports and typical outdoor "manly" activities. As his coworker and friend, I know he's a kind and sweet teddy bear of a person, but his kid probably views him as a stern, authoritarian figure, the way most teenagers view their parents. His family lives in a conservative area, so I'm sure between that, their dad's looks and interests, and the fact that their dad is a Figure of Authority, the kid is worried that they won't be accepted.
But you know what? When he found out about his kid, the first thing he did was reach out to his closest queer friend and ask for resources for parents of questioning children. His biggest fears are that his kid will be bullied or discriminated against and won't feel comfortable enough to be themself. His second action was to find himself a mentor in another parent who went the same situation (kid coming out in a conservative town). The other person is preparing him for some of the struggles his kid may face and the fights he may need to take on as a parent to make sure his kid is safe and treated well.
Something I want to emphasize for people focused on language as the primary method of allyship is that when we spoke, he used some outdated terms and thoughts about gender and sexuality. That does not make him bad. These were the terms and thinking used about questioning teenagers when he was growing up and he never needed to learn more current ones. But now that he does have that need, he's throwing himself in head first because that's his kid and he's darn well going to make sure that his kid feels welcomed and has a safe place to be themselves even if they never come out to him.

Au where Damian comes to Gotham with the goal of infiltrating and eventually overthrowing Batman instead of inheriting the mantle. Not much changes from canon except for the fact that he views everything that batman owns as his. That's his future cave and his future batmobile. This also includes his robins. After all everyone knows Batman wouldn't really be Batman without them.
Cue a very bewildered Tim being lectured on his eating habits by a righteous Damian who won't let one of his people take shortcuts with their health.
