Spring is definitely beginning to springle (sounded better in my had than spring is springing). I think I need to wear lip stick more often cause I just went out for a lil' stroll and got hit on a bunch, managed to fluster one of my favorite barista's, and my other favorite barista at a different coffee shop waved at me through the cafe window which I'm gonna choose to interpret to mean, "wants me carnally."
All in all a very good afternoon.

idk about anyone else, but i really do want to get to the point in representation and fiction where we can actually have a trans villain.
and they’d be allowed to be the villain; they wouldn’t seen as problematic / bad rep by the community and allies, and not used as an example of how trans people are evil and horrible by transphobes (and of course not written in either of those ways either)
they do a catastrophic time travel spell to rewrite their own history, they summon an eldritch god and sacrifice people to it so that it will give them their perfect body - do you get what i mean?? a trans character that would be complex and tragic and layered but, ultimately, the villain.
idk man, i feel like i’m gonna write this one day. trans people obviously are not evil, but wanting to be pretty or stay young or change previous is often a villain’s motivations - why not use that specific and painful trans angst??

happy transsexual thursday! I'm very pleased that my voice is getting lower - it's one of the effects I most hoped to experience when I started T last year. I actually like the way it sounds when I hear a recording, which is a big difference from before.
Yes!! It's so amazing just how flexible and malleable the human body is

don't use "ftm" it's outdated and offensive. it implies that the trans person was their agab, which we never were. i was always a boy, never a girl who became a boy.
i'm 35 years old. i've been IDing as trans or something similar to trans for nearly 20 years. i was probably calling myself FTM while you were playing tag during recess, anon.
i WAS a girl. i IDed as a girl early in my life. i recognized myself as a girl, called myself a girl, lived as a girl, and was a girl. who then IDed as a man. hence, F t M.
spend more time worrying about yourself instead of strangers on the internet, anon.
sorry not sorry if this comes off as needlessly hostile, but i've been getting a lot of shit from a lot of teenage trans kids about the language i use to describe my own goddamn experience, and i'm growing real fuckin weary of it.
i have elder trans friends who call themselves transsexuals and transvestites and trannies. are you going to seriously go to a 60-year-old trans person who survived the reagan years and tell her she's not allowed to use certain language to describe herself because it might offend the delicate sensibilities of some teenager on the internet?
do yourself a favor and log off, find some real-life trans people who are over the age of 20 or 25, and spend time talking to them instead of getting all holier-than-thou at random strangers on tumblr.

My fav agents of the transsexual empire 🫶😁🏳️‍⚧️
I think personally we should draw them as adults getting to fully indulge in their teen fashion aspirations. (see second image) Callies outfit was inspired by paint splotches and embroidery as if she made her outfit herself :) A true artist!
Third is my updated readings. I say "readings" because i believe theres textual evidence for these and its how i interpreted them from my read throughs. (Only jake has the autism symbol because hes the most explicitly disabled coded in text but all of them to me are neurodivergent)
The gender labels are used loosely bc i think each of them has an incredibly unique journey/relationship with their gender that cant be encapsulated in a small set of words, and i do not think any of them would actually fully use labels either.
I am just using these to simplify down my thoughts into something easily digestible LOL MY THOUGHTS ON THEM AND THEIR PARALLELS + MIRRORS + INVERSIONS ARE SUPER COMPLEX i think about them Genuinely Literally Every Day of my Life. theyd have to be saved for a different time </3 but ya alpha kids trans 4EVER howd hussie cram THIS AMOUNT of queerness into these guys.. will never know

well. here she is. miss Leigh Stasik.
trans woman. stubborn, incorrigible, eccentric. communist; she has leftist in-fighting with herself on the regular. a cannibal; she has no moral qualms about this, and its both a bit of a spiritual thing and a bit of a pragmatic thing. medic (not a doctor. no medical license). she knows for sure she had some kind of significant personality change from being shot in the head, but she doesn't remember what she was like exactly before it happened, it all became this kind of distant memory soup. shes originally from west new cali, but she grew very attached to the mojave. and has a lot of contempt for the ncr. She Will Serve Crack Before She Serves This Country. thank god the army discriminates against transsexuals etc. zero tolerance for the legion, obviously.
she firmly believes she is not nice, or kind, or compassionate, but instead her actions and her general sense of justice stem from her simply doing whats the most logical and objectively beneficial. it may be true to some extent, but she might also have a wee bit of ocd of the "i am a horrible person whos at all times like 2 seconds away from committing atrocities" variety.
shes a SCIENTIST. unofficially. she doesnt have a degree nor a chosen field of study. she makes her own hrt and other mysterious concoctions, including designer chems. which she claims she ingests injects etc not for recreational purposes, but to Enhance Her Powers And Possibilities. she reads old world books about psychology so she can manipulate people better. and makes weird contraptions and doohickeys while high. shes a HACKER of course and hacks terminals and systems for fun and just to see if she can.
her stats are out there due to implants and intense training, originally they were rather average. in-game she wears combat armor mk 2, but i see her having spruced it up like this. her main weapon is the ycs/186, the unique gauss rifle, but before that she used a modded plasma pistol. which she very much enjoyed the silly appearance of. because it was so small and with so much shit tacked on and she could just hold it in one hand like a mutated revolver like Hands up motherfucker bang bang bang lol. her melee weapon of choice is the machete gladius, but she's been training to be able to wield a thermic lance.
in my head the trajectory of her actions and the fate of the mojave that follows is different from what you can do with the game, because leigh could only go for The Secret Leftist Route Which Was Supposed To Be In The Game But We Were Robbed Of It.
boone was the first friend she made after leaving goodsprings and their relationship is particularly notable. they are Comrades, Siblings-In-Arms, Worsties (like besties but fucked up). theyve seen each other at their worst. they annoy each other on purpose. theyve had serious ideological clashes with each other and some ways in which boone perceives the world drive leigh absolutely nuts. they're ride or die for each other. theyre the kind of comfortable around each other where she'll be on the toilet and smoking a cig with the door open and talking to him, while he's naked sitting on the floor removing stitches from his leg. she's done surgery without anesthesia on him. he's projectile vomited blood on her from being poisoned by cazadores. she strongly encourages him to become a traitor to the ncr and to take part in the revolution and the formation of the new independent mojave alliance. somehow, it works on him in the end. shamefully they kinda like snuggling... boone bro come to bed man its nighty night man its beddy bye time.
shes in love with lily bowen. i havent decided yet whether she actually makes a move. but she thinks lily is sooooo dreamy. and shes right. if you dont think the enormous 203 year old blue mutant woman is dreamy thats your problem. outta her way

paired with their often intimate and violent subject matter, i find the incidental way tamsyn muir frames women and their bodies throughout the locked tomb series to be refreshing bordering on radical
consider harrowhark; in the first book we see her as gideon sees her. she's a hideous ghoul with a flat ass and no tits, she's a delicate sopping wet beauty with a sharp face and angel bow lips, she's a triumphant and awe inspiring master necromancer screaming and fighting drenched in her own blood. the shape and condition of her body is allowed to take on meaning contextually based entirely on the situation and how gideon feels about their relationship in any given moment
she then spends the second book hobbling around with a sword twice her size, ripping apart her body to use as a weapon and passing out in her own vomit, struggling to eat and sleep – she and puts herself through absolute hell and never once thinks anything of it, and we're made to mourn this not as the desecration of a beautiful woman but as a manifestation of a human being's despair and self loathing, and we see this specifically contrasted against the care gideon tries to take when inhabiting her body during the last act
it's jarring, in nona, when we're suddenly made aware that her body could be perceived or valued as a commodity, when pyrrha is assumed to be nona's pimp. it feels strange and horrifying when we learn alecto's form was modeled for a doll, learn that she was given a woman's body as a display of ownership, an alternative to being consumed, and as we're processing this we watch gideon, paul, and ianthe, immediately setting aside their conflict in a desperate scramble to preserve harrow's body for no reason other than because it is harrow's and they love her
feminist fiction often focuses on women's relationship to a body which is valued more than the person within it – and that is a worthy experience to explore – but as a transsexual butch(ish) dyke, i have never really had the privilege of seeing my body as a precious commodity, never felt like it couldn't or shouldn't be a sight of violence and disgust, and as a result the locked tomb books have made me feel seen in a way that few other works of fiction have?
we as an audience are not made aware of how attractive any character would be outside of the context of our lesbian POV characters' perspectives, their relationship to patriarchal beauty standards is an utterly irrelevant detail we're never told and only occasionally glimpse through implication. the women in the locked tomb books are simply free to exist, to have experiences and feelings, to love and hate and grieve and suffer and die like anybody else, and to have those experiences reflected in their physical vessels
it's a perspective that's so fundamental and obvious that to praise muir for it for it feels almost patronizing, but i also think it's a huge part of what's made the series so resonant for so many queer women and i feel that that's worthy of highlighting and celebrating

Aleshia Brevard started out her career doing drag at Finoccio's, a legendary drag club in San Francisco. Allegedly, her Marilyn Monroe impersonation was so good that Marilyn herself came to see her.

Before long, she underwent gender-reassignment surgery. She kept her trans identity quiet for a long time, and had a successful career as a showgirl, Playboy Bunny, and as an actress on TV and film.

(as Giganta on Legends of the Superheroes)
She lived her life in stealth, but finally decided to come out with her 2001 memoir, The Woman I Was Not Meant to Be: A Transsexual Journey. While coming out, she still took issue with being identified simply as "transgender."
"For me, as well as for my early sisters, the goal was never to live with a 't' before our names. Our objective was to blend so thoroughly that the things mixed could not be recognized. It was a choice, made not because we felt any shame about our transsexual history, but because our goal had always been to live fully as the women we'd been born to be."

I didn't spend 25 years fucking around with terfery to deconstruct and critique it just to have people come along to say "but they saaaaay they hate men so that's why they hate trans women" with approximately negative analysis to back it up.
You can't just look at their words, you have to look at their actions. Really you have to look at everything they say, not just the parts that support what you want to believe. Hell, Janice Raymond herself outright acknowledged that trans women are female and aren't male socialized. Just ask @taliabhattwrites. Or rather check her twitter for her live read of The Transsexual Empire.
Also, terfs are not the primary source of transmisogyny.
Stop trying to put men at the center of women's oppression.

"While transsexual accounts of hormones are largely in agreement with one another, I also find it illuminating to examine the more subtle differences between our individual experiences. For example, I have heard several trans men describe how they started to consume porn more voraciously upon taking testosterone. While my sexuality was definitely more visual when I was hormonally male, and I certainly enjoyed looking at porn on occasion, I still always preferred erotic stories and fantasies to pictures of naked bodies. Similarly, I have heard some trans men say they almost never cry since taking testosterone, whereas I used to cry somewhat often (although not nearly often as I do now) when I was hormonally male. Some trans men have also described becoming more aggressive or competitive since taking testosterone (although others describe themselves as becoming more calm). However, when I was hormonally male, I typically found myself to be the least aggressive or competitive guy in any room I entered. That is not to say I was passive, as I have always been motivated and eager to succeed at any task I have taken on. Rather, I have never felt any desire to have my success come at the expense of others."
Why did she say this? Why did she make this about comparing unsourced claims from "several" trans men to herself? Why is she reinforcing the false narrative that testosterone turns trans men into uncrying porn addicts in passing without any substantiation? Why is she associating testosterone with being aggressive and competitive in the first place?
Oh wait it's because Julia Serano believes in "the subconscious sex" and biological determinism and actively pushes back against decades of Feminist work that tries to separate sex and hormones from gender and behavior.
It's because The Whipping Girl has more of an interest in reinforcing Patriarchal beliefs about gender hierarchy and the way gender conforming binary trans women fit into it, rather than in breaking those beliefs down to change them because Julia Serano actively pushes against the idea that a dismantling of the gender binary would be a good thing for all trans people.
The Whipping Girl literally stands in opposition to the vast majority of the trans activism and theory that came before it in a careless and self centered, self victimizing way.
It has many real things to say about misogyny and trans womanhood but it constantly undercuts itself and shoots itself in its own foot because Serano cannot accept the idea that maybe, dismantling the gender binary and letting go of biological determinism would actually benefit binary, gender conforming transsexual people too.

catching strays [1]
She doesn’t think anything, at first, about the bloody mess outside the bar. Just some ex-POW burnout, losing fistfights in Red drinking holes, relitigating the war ad nauseam at intimate scale. Not that different from herself, and all the more exhausting for it. Katya, formerly Lt. Col. Ekaterina Bellák, now nothing in particular, shifts her eyes front and pulls at her cheapshit cigarette.
Then - and she couldn’t really say why - she looks again. Catches the hollow beneath the loose tank top, the shadow between the half-grown tits, the softness to the sharp of her jaw, like someone’s rounded off the corners with their thumb.
And it’s been a while, and she’s a little drunk, and… fuck it, why not.
Katya grinds her cigarette out and steps closer. The woman glances up, the tics still, her shoulders gather into a foxhole hunch; Katya holds out a propitiating hand. Hey, hey, easy. The hard lines of the body beneath the surplus jacket ease a notch, but only a notch. Black eyes behind a mess of black hair, dull and watchful.
“You alright down there, girl?” Katya says, conscious of the husk in her voice, how deep it sounds - stupid, as if a transsexual is going to give two shits about that. “Looks like you got a real working over.”
The woman in the gutter licks her split lip. There’s a lot of blood on her face, what might or might not be a freshly broken nose, and as she turns her head the streetlights catch it just right.
“Looks like it,” she says. Her voice is dry and cracked, as if she barely uses it. There’s something familiar in the way her fingers drum on her leg - real up to the middle digit, the rest black civ-issue prosthesis - but Katya can’t place it, a little drunk, has other things on her mind besides placing it.
“How about I help get you down to a hospital?” Katya says, wishing she still had a car. It’d make a better line. “It’s not that far to–”
The woman lurches up, tall, maybe six feet, and Katya takes an involuntary step back. “No,” the stranger says, and then quieter, her voice crushing in on itself, “No hospitals.”
“Alright - alright. No hospitals.” Katya lowers her voice, soothing or close to it. Something’s wrong with this girl, kicked-dog wrong. In the back of her mind, Katya digs the ex-POW burnout thing back out, turns it around this way and that. Holds up.
Hot, she thinks, and only feels a little sick at herself.
“Listen, how about I take you back to my place, patch you up a little,” she says, coaxing, stepping a little closer, laying her hand on the woman’s arm. She kind of expects her to shake her off, tell her to find someone else to chase. She doesn’t. Just looks at her, eyes flat and glassy, breath coming kind of fast. “I can’t just leave you out here like this, you know.”
“Like…?” The stranger touches her hand to her face. She looks a little surprised by how much red comes back on it. “Oh.” Her eyes refocus, as if she’s actually seeing Katya for the first time. A small nod, not for her, something inside her head clicking into place. “You live close?” she says.
Katya smiles. “Real close, doll.”
