BIGGEST & FATTEST HOTTAKE:
if you have to completely trace 90% of your "art" and smack a new color pallet ontop of the traced art.
You are not being creative.
Its not creativity, Its laziness in learning how to draw the human body especially when there are many tutorials for free that help.
Its one thing to take someone's premade model for public use to color in as long as you credit the model maker,
and
taking images off SOMEONE ELSES art work to trace over to make an "Original piece."

Maybe I'm not built for Tumblr, because there's a trend recently of people humanizing Bill Cipher and a lot of the time they make him hot and suave, and ship him with Stanford. My understanding is that in the extended lore of the series Ford did have a relationship with him in the past but it wasn't anything romantic or sexual it was the relation that a mad cultist has to their God and it seems really reductionist to just make it some ship. And making him humanoid sort of betrays the point of the character as this inhuman otherdimensional Eldritch force.

#Hottakes 12: America, We Have a Problem! And it’s… streamers?!
Tumblr media
It wouldn’t be a day at the Haven™️ if we didn’t talk about how men have a hand in the downfall of the world. To be more specific, America. While I’ve been on hiatus, I’ve been looking around on social media and noticed a shift in what we use. I see a lot of people shift to the streamer platforms like Clubhouse, Spaces, Twitch, etc. While initially these platforms weren’t harmful and a way to get closer with people and inevitably achieve some sort of success and fame within the process. The harm came when they tailored their platform to spread harmful rhetoric, what makes it scarier is the streamers are typically men who have built an audience talking to younger men. With what has happened as of late, I can’t help but think this plays a role in the state of current America whether that includes pop culture, politics, and behaviors towards women.
Tumblr media
Streamers have always been a thing and had a community for years but the uprising has taken America by storm. I don’t give one streamer specifically credit for more so a behavior. Streaming was typically for gamers and it kind of turned into talk shows exclusively for men. It started with gaming, then talking to their audience, then talking specifically to their male audience, and somehow it ends in misogynistic alpha male talk. Women in these spaces are almost non existent as misogynistic rhetoric is often being spewed and women are being targeted. These streamers ideal target audience aren’t anyone but impressionable young boys from the ages of 12-17 years old, the formative years a young man. It almost reminds me of the argument the violent video games garnered towards little boys would make them act out said violent behavior, and not understand the difference between whats reality and fiction. Streaming has become the resurgence of this behavior, making it unsafe for women in online spaces and in real life. We’re often subjected to the rhetoric that they spew to these young impressionable men and are on the receiving end of their behavior to assert themselves as “alpha males”.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
In pop culture, streaming has become prevalent as a lot of todays artists, athletes, and actors are starting to appear on any streamers live of their choosing. While it’s an opportunity for fans to see these figures in a different light and in a less intimidating setting, it feels like the fourth wall has been broken. The content that the post popular streamers push out are widely misogynistic and/or anti-black. Seeing the high profile celebrities that join their streams is a bit… questionable to say the least. The dynamic has changed and the rose colored glasses are off, celebrities who people once have thought the world of has now become scrutinized because of streaming. For example, Halle Bailey was once beloved and seen as the innocent sister between the Bailey sisters. Halle recently had a baby by popular streamer DDG and while that wasn’t the reason her image changed it who she had her baby by. DDG comes off like he hates Halle by bashing her sister, not telling her the child they share will be on his live stream, and making his fans attack her when she was rightfully upset. Online discourse surrounds her to this day behind the relationship to the point where her music or talent isn’t even a topic when bringing her up which is a stark difference compared to five years ago.
Tumblr media
As streaming became more popular as of late, the violent behaviors to women has become more noticeable. These “Alpha Males” are giving advice to their audience (obviously not talking to women or girls) and it’s attempting to reinforce masculinity. Equating dominance, aggression, and emotional suppression with being a “real man”. Popular streamers with large followings often use humor to trivialize violence and disrespect towards women. Making it seem like this behavior is humorous or even entertaining.
Tumblr media
Popular streamer Deshae Frost just recently did a live stream in Target, in the video he’s hitting on a girl who’s there with her family unbeknownst to him and he says to her that he’ll “F*ck the sh*t” out of her”… Are you ok??! The video progresses and the girls brother then presses him and says what he said to his sister wasn’t ok with him. He immediately gets intimidated and him and the female guest he had on the stream takes offense to what the brother is saying and rushes to say it was “just a prank” and “do you want an apology”… as if that girl wanted to be subjected sexual harassment to thousands of people and why were you so comfortable with using her as a subject for your twisted ‘humor’. Showing behavior like this desensitizes and trivializes the behavior and makes acting like a creep funny to his viewers and in the long term it may make his viewers adopt the same behaviors in real life.
Tumblr media
Streaming influencers and streaming platforms are becoming a part of our culture whether we like it or not. While it brings opportunities for relatability, builds connections with their audiences, and is a form of entertainment, it has also enable harmful content that leads to the normalization of violence and disrespect towards women and reinforces toxic masculinity which we should all be concerned about especially in this climate. I think it’s safe to say the streamers are here to stay and the platform is rapidly growing. We’re shifting to new times in media and not gonna lie… it’s scary how much influence people in front of computer screens has on impressionable people and how they depend on these people to in a way, raise them??! We have some… interesting times ahead of us and I’ll definitely keep my eyes on how this trend evolves and its impact on pop culture.
Tumblr media
What do you guys think?
Should we be concerned about streamers?
At what point do we draw the line of entertainment and responsibility?
I missed you guys so much! Thank you for waiting for me and supporting me throughout my hiatus. I can’t wait to write more for you guys and get this blog lively again!
Until then…
See you later🩷✨

I just wanna say something... Pokemon Platinum, the Johto remakes and all of gen 5 are so timeless. They are quite possibly the best games ever made in the series graphically and mechanically (yes, I'm including HMs in this statement). If video games are good then they'll survive the test of time. This has been seen over and over again with gems like Silent Hill, GTA vice city, Fallout new Vegas and Simpsons Hit and Run. Pokemon gens 4 and 5 are not overrated, they're just the games that have survived the test of time.

Hot takes?
Funniest hot takes? Most controversial? I’ll go first, Star Wars is overrated. The Percy Jackson tv series sucks and it’s because of the same reason as the movies.

Hottake: Sai is a bad dad
bruh why does Sai give 0.00001% of his attention to his son, Inojin? Why does Sai spend so much time teaching these other kids, and then act all disappointed when Inojin doesnt live up to his expectations? He even takes the time to teach Dollar Tree Kakashi Jr how to reject the Mind Transfer Jutsu.
What kind of father teaches another kid how to beat his own Son's jutsu? Like... Why doesn't Sai teach Inojin anything? It seems like only Ino supports her son an Sai doesn't seem to care much for Inojin.
I get Sai is the head of the Anbu Black Ops, but even Naruto, the damn Hokage, spent time with his damn son. I feel like Sai is either purposefully written to be a shitty dad or the writers think fans dont care about their relationship?
Even Inojin calls Sai out for this in the Final Chunin exam. But they don't properly address it. There is no serious father son bonding between Sai and Inojin, unlike the other father/kid duos.
I care. Give Inojin the love he deserves, Sai!!! HE YO SON. Sai needs to step the fuck up and be the dad that Inojin needs.

Send me your Harry Potter hot-takes/ thoughts/ thots!
I’m working my way through your requests and need a little fun during little writing breaks.
I’m seriously so interested to see what you guys think- anything you love/ hate about canon, your own HC’s anything you like about Harry Potter and/or the Twins!
I’ll go first- I absolutely hate Emma Watson’s acting but I do think Fremione would have been better than Ron and Hermione. I actually like the idea of Fred and (book) Hermione. I think he’d get her to loosen up a little and not take life as seriously where she would get him in line when necessary. He’d be so supportive of her and defensive if people tried to call her a bookworm and the anger he’d have if he heard someone call her a mudblood.
I also hate the Angelina/ George/ Fred canon.

#Hottakes #11: White Mediocrity at The Grammy’s Isn’t a Surprise Anymore.
Tumblr media
It wouldn’t be award season if we weren’t talking about white mediocrity being rewarded or people being surprised that it was awarded. The never-ending saga of ‘I can’t believe Taylor won over [insert great black artist here]’ is now plaguing my timeline for the time being and what better way to break my silence?
Tumblr media
During my writing hiatus, I went on an inspiration scavenger hunt—poking around pop culture, TV, music, and yes, even sports (times are tough, sisters). Yet, nothing sparked that writing flame. Then came the Grammys buzz, the usual drill: nominations, snubs, and the betting game of who should win versus who will win. We all would like to think of ourselves as Grammy psychics to some degree. So, imagine my surprise at the post-Grammys shockwave. Why the gasps for the winners? Why the faux shock when black artists get the snub? And seriously, why keep submitting music if it's playing hide-and-seek with recognition? It's like sending your resume to a job that never calls back—maybe it's time to rethink the application process, huh?
Tumblr media
Jay-Z delivered a powerful speech while receiving his honoree Hip Hop award. Rather than talking about his accomplishment he went on to give a rant about his wife, Beyoncé, being the most awarded Grammy winner yet always falling short of her peers of winning the coveted Record of the Year award. The speech was compelling and it reflected what many of us said for years. I would’ve been moved by the speech if I knew they weren’t going to keep submitting their music to be snubbed yearly. The speech reflected all of my thoughts of Beyoncé being categorically snubbed every year for that award that we know is likely missing from her résumé. However, I don’t like the fact that it’s being deemed that she’s missing this one thing from greatness. Beyoncé is great on her own and her career, music, and work ethic back up that claim. I think that it’s unfair that her ‘shortcoming’ amounted to an award where the line is always moving.
Tumblr media
The award show progressed, and we’re all left to simmer with Jay-Z's speech about snubbing at the Grammys. The end of the award show comes around, and the last and biggest award is Album of the Year. The album of the year award was presented by the one and only Celine Dion. The Album of the Year award is a coveted award, it’s essentially the album that shaped the year we just went through, and the cultural and social impact of said album are factors into who gets the win, or so I thought. The category for album of the year was groundbreaking on its own because this is the first time it has ever had seven of the eight nominations be women. The category on its own with poised for someone who showed great artistry through one album that spoke to the public, and to the Grammy voters. Imagine the lack of surprise on my face when Taylor Swift won. Taylor Swift’s album Midnights won the most desired award beating out SZA’s SOS, Miley Cyrus’ Endless Summer, Janelle Monae’s Age of Pleasure, etc. This Album of the Year award made Taylor Swift the most winningest recipient of the award receiving the most nominations and win in this category.
Tumblr media
The aftermath was a storm of criticism that hit Taylor Swift like a hurricane. From her award-acceptance antics to dropping her album bombshell mid-show and dragging poor Lana Del Rey on stage, Swift's behavior was undeniably tacky. But let's not kid ourselves—the uproar wasn't just about her manners. It was the fact that she clinched the Grammys' holy grail, becoming the all-time winningest. Viewers collectively winced, wondering why Taylor got the crown instead of, say, SZA. We act shocked, but really, we've read the exposés, pondered the think pieces, and still tune in annually. Artists keep submitting, black artists keep getting snubbed. If Taylor's the poster child for white mediocrity, why do we willingly sign up for this annual masochism? It's like déjà vu with a side of irony.
Tumblr media
I'm not exactly Taylor Swift's number-one fan (and never will be), and I join the chorus of critics giving her the side-eye. But what grinds my gears is the phony shock everyone's putting on. Sure, there are more deserving artists out there, and it's downright ludicrous that a powerhouse like Beyoncé hasn't snagged the top prize. Yet, when does the surprise party end? We've witnessed Grammys snubs so brutal they make 2024 look like a tea party. That's why Jay-Z's speech didn't move my needle. Valid points, definitely, but let's be real, you're still cashing in those Grammy chips and probably gonna play again. Our beloved artists secretly crave that Recording Academy nod and that's why they keep tossing their tunes into the Grammy ring. It's like a messed-up lottery where, once in a blue moon, an artist (looking at you, Zayn and The Weeknd) says, "Enough is enough!" If it's a rigged game, why keep rolling the dice? If you know the ending, why splurge on the movie ticket?
Tumblr media
The Grammys will persist as the top accolade artists crave for artistic validation. However, it's crucial to grasp that Grammy wins don't make or break careers. Complaining without a push for change is futile. The Grammys will keep snubbing until artists stop submitting. Despite acknowledging the celebration of mediocrity, there's a glaring lack of transformative action. Perhaps, giving Grammys less power than fans and artists do is key. Even Beyoncé, the greatest artist, faces snubs. Does she need another Grammy to prove her greatness? No, because she already is. Embracing this mindset could make music more enjoyable, sans the Grammy obsession.
Tumblr media
What do you guys think? Do you think artist should continue to submit their music to the Grammys? Do you think the Grammys are losing their credibility every year go on? What can the Grammys do to gain back the credibility?
Let me know what you think!
Tumblr media
Until then…
