Sometimes I imagine house remembering things that Wilson likes after [redacted] and then smiling a little, but his smile fades when the realization hits. Or when he is in the middle of something that he and wilson used to do together now there's no extra hands no extra food for two, no one to gossip about television show marathon, no noise no familiar scent no extra warmth, nothing.

house md is in a way extremely groundbreaking and no show has gotten even close to what it managed to do. house is a disabled character who stays disabled for the whole series and yes he is a flawed and damaged person and his bad actions are in line with his character and dealing with chronic pain. he changes even though he is adamant for the whole show that people don’t change. house becomes self sacrificing and learns to love in his own flawed way. he goes to therapy and seeks help and support and he is 100% not the same person he started out the series as. there are canon queer characters that aren’t only treated as jokes and have actual three dimensional character arcs. there are unhealthy relationships and healthy relationships. there is loss but it’s not treated as shock value. actions have consequences. characters stay and go. house md is just as real as it is outlandish at times. it skirts the line with absurdity and realism. it’s beautiful and tragic and at it’s core it is a story of love and becoming a better person despite your trauma and flaws. it doesn’t treat house’s trauma and disability as an excuse for his actions but it’s why he is who he is. and despite all of this, house is happy at the end of the show even though the one person he truly loves, his male best friend, is dying. they could have gone the conventional route and gave wilson a female love interest who is actually good for him at the end of the show and yet they choose to have him run away to spend his final days alive with house. and this show ended before gay marriage was legalized. oh my god.

What if Wilson figures out that Foreman knows. He starts texting him. A new location, hotel name. Every day. Same one if it’s the same. Blacksburg VA, Hilton Downtown. Mount Vernon, Tulip Inn. Needles, Avi Resort.

And when the texts finally stop coming, Foreman knows right where to find House. To throw a case at him, because if he can get House to put one foot in front of the other, House might just keep doing that.

And he might just save the love of someone else’s life.

thinking about house post roadtrip (and hilson, of course)

So the way i always interpreted the ending of the show to be: wilson dies, house kills himself, because these two disaster men are so codependent that one cannot exist without the other

but i also think wilson would hate that. he probably already feels guilt for not going the chemo route, and this would feel like... an additional Bad Thing he's responsible for

so i thought about like. what would wilson do to make house stay alive, after his death, and the obvious choice that a lot of fandom has made has been to bring up House's promise to Thirteen

but i also like to think about like... Wilson going behind House's back, and contacting Chase and/or Foreman. Wilson manipulates House into staying alive long enough for them to intervene (maybe something like asking House to leave something at his grave- maybe some whiskey and a cigar? or something like that)

and Chase and Foreman (and maybe Thirteen, because i hc that she, Chase, and Foreman are House's favorites) are laying in wait to grab him and keep from finishing his plans

of course, he'd have to be basically under a 24 hr watch, but between them all, maybe they manage it

and then, maybe, house realizes he can't kill himself, but he can get himself arrested, which would get him away from his old fellows long enough to either actualize his plan or for him to begin to see it as some sort of cosmic punishment for the various ways he hurt wilson

regardless of what happens, i just. really want to see the fellows realizing just how important wilson is/was to house... to see how pathetic and sad and angry and lonely and heartbroken he is, now that wilson is not merely removing himself from house's life, but straight up Gone gone. Esp since house and wilson probably finally actually did something about their situationship while they were on the road.
