speaking of hobbies, chosen likes to play the violin. He's heard it once from a random stick playing it on the street and since then he's come over and ask for lessons which they happily give.

For those of you who never knew as it's a detail one can easily miss (especially depending on which aspect ratio you're viewing in) but a lovely detail at that: Pippin was in the hobbit band in the background!

He's the one playing the banjolele!

These shots I have of the scenes where he is most visible are from the Fullscreen edition (A DvD I own and often watch for the different viewing experience). I believe in the Widescreen edition their heads are cut off by the aspect ratio-- so it's easy to miss!

And for those of you who haven't put it together already, yes! That is our beloved Merry standing next to him as they both watch Frodo dance.

Mind you, Merry is not in the band. A few scenes prior he was actually along the precession line of bringing in Bilbo's Birthday cake. He probably came up to the platform to talk to Pippin, give him a mug of something to drink and inevitably snatch him away for some mischief. Because after this brief scene, Pippin is then absent from the stage-- he and Merry are going to go swipe some fireworks!

Now I am not saying that Drumbot Brian on the drums or banjo are over appreciated because I don't think it is possible to appreciate anything about Drumbot Brian too much, BUT I do think that Drumbot Brian on the accordion is terribly underappreciated.

Look at this. How can you see this and Not want to talk about him on the accordion for the rest of time?? Also the instrument itself is pretty and matches the rose on his hat.

#all of the mechs are just so ridiculously impressive and have such a wide range of skill in both instruments and vocals #I like never see his accordion playing gettibg talked abt anywhere despite how fucking cool it is to the point #I sometimes gaslight myself into thinking my memory's failing and it never existed (bc I am really bad at recognizing instruments #on recordings) until I stumble upon photos of it again and I feel like I just snorted a line.#I have much the same experience with Ivy playing the trumpet too.#So I just keep a list of every instrument I've ever seen the mechs use or their actors have said they used + pictures to help.#drumbot brian #the mechanisms

what do y’all think illario’s hobbies are? what is he interested in? what does he do in his spare time? what does he know a lot about the nobody would expect? what did he love as a kid that he hasn’t thought about in years but could jump back into in a heartbeat if given the chance? what are his wyverns and cooking and knitting and romance novels?
