How to Post?

With just 10 days to go till we kick-off Feveruary 2025, we thought it’d be helpful to create a guide on how to upload your posts to the event!

There are photos to help understand too! If you have any quesions, feel don't hesitate to ask!

We’ll cover both posting on here and on ao3!

Ao3:

- create your post as normal

- Under “Post to collections / challenges”

- Type “Feveruary 2025”

- Then hit post!

That’s it! Your work should appear in the collection shortly!

The collection will stay open for late submissions until the end of March!

Tumblr:

- create your post as normal

- Once it has been posted, copy the link for your post

- On the Feveruary tumblr page, Click the small "..." icon and press “Submit”

(THIS MAY DIFFER FOR MOBILE - the “…” may instead appear as a small envelope at the top of the account)

This will take you to our submissions page!

The rest is simple, follow the formatting and simply click submit! See an example below!

The link to your post can be from tumblr post or ao3. We have to manually accept and post the submissions*, we’ll try and get through as many as possible!

Please make sure to tag your posts appropriately as well as using our event tags #Feveruary and #Feveruary 2025!

i’m bored so how to find then clean and whiten bones, beginner friendly:)

the best places to look for bones are where animals are/die, so this can be woods or forests, farm land, near lakes or rivers, roads and train tracks, this is just naming some places i could think of. you are probably going to have the best of luck near roads and on train tracks thanks to roadkill, but remember always be careful keep your eyes and ears open.

so you have found some bones, now how do you clean them?

well it really depends on the state of the bones, some bones if their old enough and have spent enough time in the sun don’t really need to be cleaned at all since all the fur and flesh will be rotten off and the sun whitens bones over time, you might just have to clean some dirt off.

but for bones where that is not the case, they will need to be cleaned, degreased, and whitened.

so now how to do that. before you do anything i recommend scraping/cutting off any fur/flesh that you can it will make the process easier and faster.

scrub the bones with warm water and dish soap i recommend dawn dish soap but any that says it will get rid of grease will work. once you’ve gotten any remaining dirt off soak the bones in boiling water and dish soap for at least 30 minutes then scrub the bones again and soak them in boiling water again. it’s okay if fur/flesh is still on the bones the cleaning process will take care of that.

now rinse and repeat that process. when scrubbing the bones you can use scissors and or tweezers to help pick of any remaining fur/flesh if needed, soaking them will make this easier.

now once they are clean and no longer have any fur/flesh on them they need to be degreased if the cleaning process didn’t already degrease them, it’s the same as the cleaning process make sure to use dish soap that says it gets rid of grease, except now you can also use some hydrogen peroxide, this will also help start the whitening process.

so now they are degreased and ready to be whitened this technically isn’t necessary but it makes bones look nicer, you don’t have to do this if you don’t like the look of it.

if you do want to whiten your bones, use hydrogen peroxide this is the main whitening method i know of, soak them till they have the the level of whiteness you want them to have. you may have to change out the hydrogen peroxide a couple times, you can also leave them in the sun to whiten but that will take longer.

so now you have clean bones:) you will probably have to use superglue or hot glue to glue in teeth and glue jaws together if you have skulls. super glue can also be useful to use on cracks in bones.

but if you want to avoid having to do all this you can always just buy bones. there's no shame in it and anybody who says that there is is not a real bone collector.

one more thing NEVER use bleach on your bones. NEVER. you can use other cleaning products than the ones i said but never use anything with bleach in it. it will turn your bones yellow and make them more brittle and fragile then normal bones. pictures below of some of my skulls, i used bleach on the opossum skull before i knew better.

How do i post a link to an ao3 fic on tumblr? Ive figured out how to get the link in, but it always says ”new session”. How do i get the name of the fic on it or better yet, that thing where you just click on a piece of text and its a link to a text?

This is the short version of the much more detailed How to Post article. To post your art to AO3:

Upload your art to a valid hosting website. Commonly used sites are PRIVATE posts on Tumblr (not public!) and postimages.org Consult this AO3 article on embedding your art for more information.

Copy the CORRECT link to your art. The link MUST end in .jpg, .gif, .png, or another filetype. You can usually get this by right-clicking on the image and selecting 'Copy Image Address' If your image link ends in .html or anything else besides a filetype, it will not work!

Once you have a valid image URL, click this link and hit “Post to Collection.”

Fill out the details about your work (fandom, ship, rating, etc)

Go to the “Chapter text” box and hit the little square between the paper clips and the quotation marks.

When this box appears, paste the link to your image.

You may need to add a tiny bit of text to the box, too - such as crediting your author, or any bases/brushes/textures you used.

You can now press post!

I mean, I don't know how you all take such perfect pictures :/

I do traditional art (but I'm not an actual artist, I do this for a hobby and haven't actually learnt art apart from a few classes in hs)

Whenever I try to take a picture of my art it turns out absolutely shit, like how do you get the right lighting and not make it look like a 5 year old took it??? Somebody please help

So I haven't posted a fic in over 10 years now. How do we do it now? Do we still use betas? Do I just post it with my own revision?

a random first aid/field medic tip,

if someone gets stabbed or shot in a area that cannot be tourniated/bandaged easily (ie the hip, shoulder, stomach,) just applying pressure won't really help.

you need to PACK the wound first. most people who aren't trained in first aid don't know this,

simplified how you pack a wound is; first see where the blood is coming from (the vein or artery that will most likely be severed).

then secondly; you get what ever material you have preferably clean gauze, but t-shirts, masks, bandanas, can be used in emergencys, any fabric really.

then how you pack a wound is; shoving the fabric in the wound against the bleeding while applying pressure, you do this fabric over fabric (finger over finger with fabric) till the wound is completely packed.

THEN you start applying pressure with more fabric over the wound. if the person who got injured is still conscious this whole process will hurt like HELL. but them being in pain is better then them being dead.

also remember when applying a tourniquet do it a couple inches above the wound because veins and arteries suck up into the body after being severed, also don't stop applying pressure on the tourniquet untill you SEE the bleeding slow down and there's no pulse in the limb you can feel.

(i am not officially trained in first aid so take this with a grain of salt and do your own research but i hope this helps some people who didn't know)
