#how to talk about regression

Idk how to like age regress in like a college dorm and I’m so scared to because society goes wild. I also don’t know how to like tell my boyfriend about this, is there any advice you can give maybe?

I was blessed to have a situation where I was alone/able to regress frequently and my husband is 100% supportive of my weird little interests ... but here's what I said and did!

For college:

Headphones are your friend!

See if you can find out what your roommate is planning to do on a given night, and/or try to learn their schedule

Nobody questions fun pajamas or stuffies, have as many as you like :)

Keep a small box/bag of little gear with you. If your RAs search drawers, small items such as pacis can easily be concealed in pillows/pillowcases

Even if they did find something, don't sweat it. They've definitely seen worse lol

Bath time/shower time is a great place to be small!

Print and discard coloring sheets; use colored pencils or highlighters

Buy yourself little rewards from Dollar Tree every so often, if you can. It's a great way to treat your little self while still being discreet!

How to explain agere to anyone:

Remember, at the end of the day, you don't owe anyone an explanation. If someone asks you about it, you don't have to go into your whole tragic backstory. Be classy; thank them for their patience if they have encountered you small or think they may do so again. Change the subject. You are in control.

Little Stede definitely strikes me as a "why can't the world just be good" type of kid, but in the way that sometimes concerns the bigs around him. Sometimes he's like "why do people have to fight? Why can't we all just be nice to each other :(" which is perfectly normal and every kid thinks that. But other times he's like "I don't think food should cost any money so I'm just going to take it" and Ed has to practically keep him on a leash to stop him from following through

When Arcane remembers there's a class conflict going on I would love to see how Jayce would tackle removing hextech from the public sphere. I cannot imagine a scenario where Zaun's leadership and people in general don't see this as complete bs. Piltover was able to reap the rewards for hextech for nearly a decade and transformed their city into a world capital of trade. Now, after Piltover, specifically Jayce and Caitlyn, cracked down on shimmer production, a major source of industry for Zaun, Piltover says Zaun can't use hextech, the major source if wealth in the region, because it's "a curse".

We the audience know hextech has had a negative impact on Zaun's environment, ie the Firelight tree, but shouldn't Zaun be allowed to figure out how to deal with it rather than a blanket ban on important technology? The kind of technology I cannot emphasize enough that explicitly enriched topside and only worsened inequality between the two cities, and Jayce wants to get rid of it.

What does that look like? To the uncharitable observer, almost all of Zaun, it looks like the Piltovans in charge not only took every opportunity to wreck Zaun and its economy, but now want shut down Zaun's only chance to economically grow and become less dependent on Piltovan industry. One of Silco's demands during the actual "negotiation" was free access to the hexgates, and now there won't be any hexgates???????? To Zaunites, this is Piltover not just trying to keep Zaun under its thumb, but put Zaun in an even worse position than they started. It's such a mess.

the poetics of sp's involvement in 1863rd is just ... there's no words to capture the how retrospectively tragic it is. sp is the oldest being in the story. his tragedy has stopped being told but the story was still continuing off the page, years and years and even more unending years of being trapped without resolution, blocked behind the wall. he wants to die but cannot.

hsy's plan was to make 1863 yjh sleep forever. while it is not true death obviously, it will have been the closest to death any yjh has ever gotten (besides 0th who still turned away from it). not death, not regression, but sleep. it is only the domain of the dreams that will let him escape the cruel reality of his unreality and the silent god who will continue to watch over him forever so long as it was this man, yjh.

an important recurring symbol/motif in orv is dreams and there are several important themes linked to dreams i want to discuss.

first one is pretty obvious: dreams as escapism, as a way to desperately wish for a better life, wanting desperately to be saved from a ruined world. ala 1863rd yjh's wish for death and the oldest dream's wish for the characters to become real, to save him. as such, dreams represent a desperate plea for salvation.

and this might be a reach but i would still like to argue that it is the character's belief of their own hopelessness that lead to dreams but also perpetuates an unending cycle. wanting to be saved but also not being able to believe that you're worthy of being saved, that nothing / no one would / should save you. this duality is what leads me to the second theme: in their endless cycle being trapped and neither dead nor living, dreams are but another form of regression.

kdj becomes the oldest dream, the willing lonely god who could only ever dream of everyone's happiness but his own. he had seperated himself from ever reaching out and watching 1864th worldline where all his loved ones are and where he knows he would have been tempted to return. so symbolically, he interferes with 0th yjh and, as his stardusts falls away, he watches all the regressions and yjh. always yjh. his dream. in the end, the train that traps him is himself.

but a final point i want to touch on is this:

it is only when they get off the train and reach their epilogue, does sp finally achieve liberation, does the oldest dream finally end (become free). the dream has ended and into the waking cruel world, they become characters no longer having found each other at last. this was sp's ■■. and that's what i meant by the poetics of it all. the happiest, gentlest of epilogues: the ending of the oldest dream.

what brushes do you use on procreate ((if you use it)) and how do you get your lines so smooth ?? :0

Oh my first brush question!!

So I mainly use this brush called the "Funny Haha Brush." It's completely free on gumroad, but you can tip the artist if you'd like!

It's my go-to brush for both sketching and inking! Inking with it is really fun, and when I sketch with it, I lower the opacity all the way down. I like the sort of "crunchy" look it has and the texture it gives me! Though if you're looking for something cleaner, like a G-Pen, maybe this isn't the one skfdhlj. Try it out and see if you like it though!

Though in terms of getting better line quality, im afraid to say that just comes with practice 😭 im getting flashbacks to when i was younger and i'd ask artists i looked up to how they got so good, and they'd just respond with "practice"... SO IM NOT GONNA DO THAT AND INSTEAD YAP ABOUT IT

So the thing about getting smooth lines is that you have to be confident with your strokes: big, quick and broad lines. For example, chicken scratching is a habit I see a lot of younger artists do (not to say this is something you do! just something I've observed).

This is something you'll just naturally get better with over time as you become more confident with your lines, but a good exercise you can do to see improvements quickly is practicing drawing shapes like ovals, circles, parallel lines in quick succession and as cleanly as you can (and in the case of the parallel lines, making them as parallel to each other as you can). Ex:

What this does is you're essentially developing your motor skills to create cleaner lines, and training your muscle memory. Speed isn't the key here, it's more about precision! But you'll naturally get faster over time. Another good exercise that I also learned is where you create two random dots, and try to make a line connecting the two dots and make it as straight and clean as possible! I like to do "ghost" strokes where I plan how the line's going to move before I commit to paper.

Honestly these are just a couple of the exercises ive learned and picked up on over the years, but even I don't do them myself SJLFHKDJL which something I really slack on. But this is definitely for if you want to see results in your improvement faster!! And also, these are also great for warming up before you start drawing.

I totally get the digital art struggle ;; it was SUCH a learning curve for me, going from predominantly traditional to digital. Honestly, the most important tip I could give you is to just draw and have fun! There was a point where I didn't draw (apart from very small homework doodles) for 3-4 years, and in that time I never tried going out of my comfort zone out of fear that it would bad. And even after I started art school, I still wasn't able to draw at the level I thought I would be at. The gap between my perceived skill vs my ACTUAL skill was so big, I kept getting tripped up and being upset about it. The fear of failure was so strong, that I was more comfortable not trying at all. In fact, it wasn't until July that I started seeing improvements in my art!! Just a couple of months ago, I couldn't draw guys for the life of me, and now all I ever draw is south park boys sfljhjl. I'm still not entirely satisfied with how my art looks, but I'm much comfortable and happy with my art now than I ever have been in the last 7 years (holy shit its been 7 years).

So, TL;DR,

1. Line exercises are your friend!

And 2. Have fun! Find your muse, and just keep drawing that!! Find ways to insert your muse in everything!! DRAW TO YOUR HYPERFIXATION'S CONTENT!!
