When to Replace Menstrual Cups and How to Dispose of Them
A menstrual cup is one of the most underrated products that is gaining popularity among the masses with its stellar performance and continues to make its place among its competitors in the market. These menstrual cups can make your life sorted with their multiple advantages and when cared for properly, the menstrual cup can last many years. But how would you know when to stop using these cups? For that, you need to check on them. Once you need the signs of deterioration, you can stop using it and go for a new menstrual cup.
Now let’s look at some of the suggestive signs that indicate your menstrual cup is no longer in working condition and must have reached the end of its lifespan.
Bad odor
Flaking on the cup or white powder residue
Tears or cracks in the rim or the stem of the cup
Heavy staining
a texture that is grainy
Sudden leaking
In case you come across any such signs then it is best to replace your old menstrual cup with a new one immediately. Moreover, there are some more instances when you should completely discard your menstrual cup. Some of them have been discussed below.
When accidents occur
Other reasons that should be taken into consideration like, if it gets dropped in your toilet or has been scratched by your pet then it should be removed at once. Never use the menstrual cup again even if you have washed it as you will not be able to get rid of the bacteria that it gets covered in. If you really take care of your cup by cleaning it as instructed and storing it in a cotton breathable pouch, then believe me it will be by your side for a maximum period. Though nothing lasts forever with our efforts we can surely keep it in good condition.
When you have used harsh cleaning agents
In case you have used harsh cleaning agents in your menstrual cup then it might deteriorate the condition of the menstrual cup. We recommend using the menstrual cup to wash and clean them as they are 100% natural and do not contain any chemicals that make them a perfect cleaning agent. Not only it keeps your menstrual cup in good condition but also keeps its material safe and also maintains the pH balance of your private part. But refrain from using any harsh cleaning agents that have chemicals or artificial fragrances. These harsh cleaning liquids can also cause irritation in the vaginal canal. You can try to boil your menstrual cup, which can often help remove light stains.
It’s the Wrong Fit
The size of the menstrual cup is very important, if you are using the right size then it’s fine as it will be the most comfortable menstrual hygiene product that you would be using. But if you have got the wrong size then things would most probably not fall in place. Generally, you will notice that the menstrual cup comes in three sizes when you buy menstrual cup. Small, medium, and large. The small size is for beginners or teenagers, the medium is for females who fall in the age bracket of below 30 years or who have not given birth through normal delivery and the large ones are for females who are above 30 years of age or have given birth normally and not through C-Section. A wrong-sized menstrual cup would not fit in properly and can cause you discomfort. Moreover, it can also cause leakages. All you need to do is to check all criteria and decide in which bracket you fall in before you buy menstrual cup.
How to Properly Dispose of Your Menstrual Cup?
The Menstrual Cup is a reusable menstrual hygiene product that stands by your side for 8-10 years if it is taken care of properly. But once you are sure that it’s time to dispose of the old one and get the best menstrual cup in India for yourself then do not waste time as it is the right signal to get a new menstrual cup.
Medical-grade Silicone
As most of the menstrual cups available in the market are made up of medical-grade silicone, the best way to dispose of them is to simply throw them in the dust bin. Silicone degrades over time but that totally depends upon some of the factors like temperature, or moisture in the landfill. Compared to pads and tampons it is a far better option that pollutes our environment. Unlike pads and tampons that contain plastics and harmful chemicals which contaminate our soil and environment into soil and environment. Thus, it is best to cut your used cup into little pieces and dispose of it. You can also burn it and wait for it to completely turn into ash as the silicone does not emit any harmful fumes or toxins.
TPE Plastic
If your menstrual cup is made out of TPE plastic, then you do not have to worry about disposing of it as this type of plastic is recyclable. But there is a catch, it is possible only if your local recycling plant accepts these plastics.
Rubber Latex
The next on the list is the menstrual cup made of Rubber or latex. As we all know that rubber is a natural product collected from the Rubber Tree. As some of the menstrual cups are made from a natural raw material, it is fully biodegradable. After you are done with your rubber menstrual cup you can simply cut it into pieces and put it in the soil to get it decomposed.
Now the next time you will buy menstrual cup then you do not have to worry about disposing of it as you have the complete guide to understand the right way and the time to do it so that you can have a relaxing and trouble-free period.

Can you sleep with a menstrual cup in? Yes, you can! Sleeping while wearing a menstrual cup is a great alternative to wearing bulky maxi-pads or wearing a tampon for more than 8 hours. Menstrual cups can be worn for up to 12 hours, so pop a cup in just before bed and rest easy.

How To Make Your Own Beginner Menstruation Kit
When a young person gets their first period, the response can range anywhere between frustration, excitement or even ambivalence. However, regardless of the emotional response, there generally a few steps that need to be taken to prepare for the menstrual cycle. One way to help them out is to creature a beginner’s menstruation kit. Although many teens may feel awkward or uncomfortable discussing this bodily process, this can be a great way to break the ice and normalize the topic. Here are some suggestions of what you can put in your own menstrual kit:
Carrying Case
It’s fine to just keep your pad/tampon/cup in your pocket, but sometimes having a pouch is preferable for those who prefer to be more discreet. It also is useful to have a specific place where you always store one or two products, just in case. Ideally this should be pretty small; make-up bags or pencil cases are generally large enough to contain a pad or two and some sanitary wipes if desired.
Menstrual Products
Though this is a pretty obvious choice, it’s worth it to consider your choices. Reusable products such as cloth pads and menstrual cups are the ideal environmental choice, but it might be safer to stick with the disposables at first, so that the person can see what works best for them. Don’t hesitate to start up a conversation at a later date to check in!
Reading Material
It’s unlikely that a teenager is going to be too excited about receiving a textbook as a gift, but including a few pamphlets or educational zines can be helpful as a starting point for any questions they didn’t know they had.
Goodies & Fun Stuff
Everyone likes getting presents that are actually enjoyable, so cater to the person’s interests! This is an especially nice gesture to someone who might be feeling otherwise unhappy about the situation. Snacks (especially chocolate) are a given here, but you’d be surprised how many menstrual coloring books are out there for the artistic menstruator. There are even video games focused on the menstrual cycle.
Most importantly, remember that this is an opportunity to make space for future conversations; not a way to send the message, “You have what you need, now deal with it yourself.” If you give this as a gift, make sure the recipient knows that they can always talk to you about what’s going on with their cycle. Periods are a great indicator of various health problems and no one should feel ashamed about bringing the topic up.
Thanks for reading! Good luck.

ok, so this is kind of awkward, but im 15 and im interested in menstrual cups bc everyone seems to find them easier, cheaper, more comfortable, etc. but how do i approach my mother about this? like i love her and we spend a lot of time together, but how the frick am i even supposed to broach that topic? like this isnt a must have thing, i mean i havent even tried tampons yet, but i also dont want to wait until i move out to experiment with things im interested in to make life easier for me, yk?
btw, i have extreme social anxiety, embarrassment issues, etc. and a direct approach simply is not an option for me. also, my mother loves me but she also struggles to communicate sometimes. do i find some way to subtly bring it up without embarrassing myself (and yes ik its illogical but i just cant flat out ask)? do i wait until i move out? any ideas?
I'm obviously not 100% sure what your home situation is, but assuming you're messaging me on tumblr it seems like you have access to the internet!
COSMO actually had a reallllly helpful and informative article about menstrual cups -- how to use them, how to clean them, how long they last etc. They even have links to ones they recommend for beginners (and can buy off Amazon!). My vote is just to go ahead and get one and try it. If your mom asks about it, just say it's what people are using for periods now. Definitely don't wait until you move out!
Here's the link to look for yourself -- https://www.cosmopolitan.com/sex-love/a13126155/best-menstrual-cups/

How to insert and use a Menstrual Cup?
Menstrual cups are unique and innovative menstrual hygiene products that can be a real game-changer for women around the world who find it difficult to deal with their periods every month as it has become a challenging task for them. For those 5 days, the females find themselves gagged and uncomfortable, and thus, a product like a menstrual cup can come as a big relief for the female population around the globe. With pre-apprehensions, many women feel hesitant to use it, but to remove all apprehensions from their minds, we have come up with a clear idea of how to use a menstrual cup to make the whole process smooth for you. So, here’s a step-by-step guide for our readers.
Start by folding it: You should always begin the process of insertion after washing your hands thoroughly with soap and water to wash away all germs. Once you hold the cup in your hand, you have to fold it. It should be done in a way that makes it easy for you to insert it. If you are a beginner, you can start with the C-fold, as it is one of the most basic and easiest folds and will make the insertion process easier. You can opt for other folds as well, depending on your preference, like the 7-fold, the S-fold, the origami fold, the punch-down fold, etc. Since every individual has their own preferences, you can pick the one that best suits your needs.
Insertion: Now you need to insert the folded cup into your vagina. It should be placed low in your vagina so that you are comfortable while the stem is fully inside. After folding the cup, take a comfortable position to open the vaginal opening, part your labia with one hand, and insert the folded part of the cup with the other hand. As it gets inside, twist the cup holding its stem so that it pops open to create a light suction force and stick to the walls of the vagina, leaving no space to prevent leakages.
Leave it there: One of the greatest benefits of using a premium menstrual cup is that it can be used for a period of 12 hours at a stretch depending upon your flow. You can leave it unperturbed and then empty it after use.
Pull it out and remove the contents: When it’s time to change, you can again take a comfortable position and hold the cup from its stem. Now pinch the base of the cup to release the suction so that it can come out easily without causing spills. If you feel there is a need, then you can flex your pelvic muscles to push the cup out. You have to do this gently and patiently. Make sure that you wash your hands again before touching them. After ejecting it, empty the contents into the toilet and rinse it with water or a menstrual cup wash before reusing it.

Menstrual Cups – How to Use Menstrual Cups? Their Advantages & Disadvantages
Menstrual cups are one of the few reusable period care products that women use during periods. Menstrual cups are small, soft and flexible funnel-shaped cups made of health-grade silicone or latex rubber. These silicone cups are inserted inside your vagina to collect the period blood during your menses rather than soaking the blood released during your menses.
Sounds scary? Well, it is not. All it takes is some practice and patience to get a hang of the trick to safely insert and pull out the cup from your vagina during periods.
How to Use Menstrual Cups?
Here is a simple step-by-step process of using a menstrual cup:
Step 1 – Fold the cup
Press the sides of the period cup together and fold it in half. This forms a “U” shape. Or, put your finger on the rim of the cup and press it down to the centre to form a triangle. This makes the rim smaller to insert.
Step 2 – Hold the cup
Hold the folded cup firmly between your thumb and index finger and make sure that the rim of the cup is facing the vagina.
Step 3 – Insert the cup
Sit or squat or be in a comfortable position and make sure your vaginal muscles are relaxed. With your free hand, separate the labia and gently push the Stonesoup menstrual cup into your vagina. Adjust or rotate the cup so that it can spring opens and sit below the cervix. Once a seal is formed, there will not be any leakage.
Step 4: Remove the cup
Wash your hand and use your thumb and index finger and put them inside your vagina to remove the cup. Reach the stem of the cup or the base of the cup (in case the cup is stemless). Pinch the base of the menstrual cup to release the seal. Carefully and slowly pull the cup out. Once you remove the cup, empty and clean the content in the toilet and wash the cup. Use warm water and a mild soap or detergent to clean the cup and reinsert.
Advantages of Using Menstrual Cups
Here are some of the advantages of using a menstrual cup:
●     No leakage & no stains: Unlike the disposable tampons and sanitary napkins, menstrual cups do not soak the period blood, rather they collect the blood. As the cups collect the blood inside your vagina, you must not worry about leakage and stains. Depending upon your flow – low, medium or heavy, remove the cup every 4-12 hours and clean the blood. Wash and reuse the cups.
●     Good night sleep: A menstrual cup from Stonesoup can hold up to 23 ml of period blood, which is twice the blood-soaked by temporary disposable pads and tampons. So, sleep a good night’s sleep and no need to get up in midnight and change your soaked pad.
●     No foul blood odour: Blood smells bad when it is oxidised, i.e., is exposed to air. But the blood collected directly into the sanitary cup, emptied into the toilet and washed with water. So, there is not enough time for the blood to react with the air and smell foul.
●     Economical cups: Reusable menstrual cups can be used up to 10 years. Therefore, sanitary cups are promoted as an economical and eco-friendly product when compared to disposable tampons and pads. Menstrual cups are a one-time expenditure that may last for about 10 years. Whereas the monthly expense on disposable pads and tampons will be much higher.
●     Eco-friendly cups: Disposable pads and tampons can be used only once and then must be discarded into the bins. The soiled pads are then transported either to the landfills or are dumped into the water bodies. This leads to a major impact on the environment. However, reusable menstrual cups can be used for years, so you are not worried about dumping the cups anytime sooner than a few years. Disposable sanitary products are made of cotton and plastic. It takes about 50 years to degrade and cotton takes about 3 months. Consequently, a reusable menstrual cup from brands such as Stonesoup is an ideal biodegradable solution for your period care.
●     Comfortable during physical activities: Wearing a menstrual cup will give you the freedom to live your life during periods as you live otherwise. You need not worry about leakage or staining and can enjoy any kind of physical activity, such as swimming, gym, running etc.
●     Safe on skin: Most of the reusable silicone cups are made of medical-grade material that is softer on the skin, especially for the sensitive types. So, no rashes and no allergies as can be a case in tampons and disposable pads.
Disadvantages of Using Menstrual Cups
Here is a list of disadvantages of using a menstrual cup:
●     Removal of the cup can be complicated: Even if you are experienced with the cups, there is always a chance of spilling the collected blood while removing the cup. This can be an embarrassment in public toilets.
●     Lack of clean water: Reusable menstrual cups must be cleaned in warm water. This can pose a problem in places where the availability of clean water is scarce. Also, you need access to clean water for washing your hands after you handle the cups.
If you are a beginner planning to shift to menstrual cups or someone who is still in the learning curve, understand than with patience you will teach you the right way of using the menstrual cups and enjoy the freedom. Menstrual cups come with and without stems. Choose as per your comfort. You can also discuss it with your gynaecologist to understand the length of your cervix, your period flow, the strength of your pelvic muscles, cup size, cup firmness, your age and if you have given birth through the vagina. Consider these factors before buying a cup and then live blissfully during your periods!

Order Now Sanitary Pads Online For Regular Flow That are affordable & effective
Tumblr media
Take a moment to recall the first time you had your period. How did you feel? Could you understand what was going on? Was there someone who explained everything to you? But most importantly, were you able to talk openly about periods after that, ask questions, or clarify anything you were unsure of? I think most of us cannot answer this question in the affirmative. We learn about periods from our mothers or family members. The introduction has not yet resolved all the misunderstandings, misperceptions, and unanswered questions.
With a little more experienced, we might have to explain periods to our daughters, little sisters, friends, or even strangers as we become older. So we should explain it properly this time. The shame associated with menstruation needs to be banished. Let's talk more openly, encourage questions, and eliminate the stigma. You may be reading this to clarify periods for someone else, or you might be here to learn more about periods yourself.
Here are some things beginners should know about their box of pads:
1.     Your current situation is perfectly normal
Women menstruate in large numbers, so there is no need to be concerned. Biologically speaking, periods signal that a female has completed her reproductive period and is now in the position to reproduce. Check out some YouTube videos such as this one to learn more about the technical aspects of periods.
2.     Know what the timeline entails
Here is an informative post from Pixieforher explaining the menstrual cycle timeline! There is no need to worry if you do not experience regular periods at first. During your first few cycles, you will be able to gauge how heavy your flow is, how long your period lasts (usually 5-7 days), and how often they occur (usually 4-5 weeks). The box of pads price seems to be quite genuine.
3.     PMS is awful but you will get through it
The bad news is that periods often come with unpleasant side effects such as moodiness, fatigue, low energy, painful cramps, headaches, and more. Each individual will experience these symptoms differently. Fortunately, there are many options available to deal with them. When you experience one of those days, you can stay calm and balanced by eating a healthy diet, exercising frequently, and practicing meditation.
4.     Welcoming you to the world of sanitary products
If you have ever used a menstrual cup, there are a lot of sanitary products you can try so do not get overwhelmed. Almost everyone starts using pads when they begin menstruating (and most women continue to do so). If your napkins have chemicals, make sure to use soft, Buy Sanitary Pads Online that prevent rashes and irritation.
5.     If you have questions, ask someone
Contact your friends, siblings, parents, or other family members with whom you feel comfortable speaking. There is nothing more frustrating than not being able to share your doubts for years without support. You might find some resources on the internet that can help you if you don't have anyone you can talk to safely. There are countless articles on the web that can answer your questions.
Women should know that they should not be scared when their period begins. Being a woman has nothing to do with shame. On your period you can do all the things you've always done. It's not like anything's changed. Inspiring our little girls with this message will allow us to raise strong women who will never question their worth. Collectively, we can make period positivity a reality!

A lesson on Minimalism from a beginner
I recently embarked on a journey to become a minimalist, This is my experience so far and how I got started.
WTF Is Minimalism
Minimalism is having a home less full but a life that is, It is about reducing clutter in your brain and home by owning only what you need so you can have more experiences and less things.
Why did I choose to do it?
Let me set the scene..
I, a college student had a beautifully decorated room filled with random pictures and mementos that were supposed to make me feel like I was at home. I had more than enough clothes assuming I would be a fashionista every day that year, I really do enjoy fashion. But I found myself wearing only three out of my 15 pairs of shoes and rotating the same quick comfortable outfits. Then it came time to pack up and head home for the summer. I filled a trash bag of shoes and containers full of clothes packing them into the car. I realized I barely wore most of the things I brought and managed to acquire more throughout the year because I am a shopaholic.
Then I got home.. to More stuff!!! stuff I hadn't seen or missed all year. I had way too many things and It was overwhelming, I’m talking two dressers and a walk in closet as well as various shoes scattered throughout the house (I love shoes y’all) So I decided enough is enough, I needed a fresh start and did not want to haul all of my stuff into my new apartment next year.
I was also becoming more and more aware of my impact on the environment so I wanted to buy things I could use for a long time, no more flimsy fast fashion or one use items.
How did I start?
Obviously everyone has their own approach to starting a minimalist lifestyle, mine was to download Poshmark and start selling things I knew I absolutely did not need or want. I actually made quite a bit of cash through the app, the money can go into your bank account or toward your next Poshmark purchase. Selling your clothes for cheap is better than getting nothing for them, so I reminded myself that I was just getting rid of them regardless. The next step was to stop by Platos’ closet, a thrift store that will buy your clothes for cash on the spot. I went to two stores, the first time making 50$ on about 19 things and then 80$ on 29 things so that was a win for me. Once I sold all that I could I donated the rest.
That was the first closet purge
But not the last, one of the most common techniques is to take everything out of your closet and only put back what you truly need or love, having a specific number of items allowed will help too. so that was the last thing I did and now I am down to one rack of clothes in my closet and it feels so freeing! I don’t have to stress about what to wear anymore! and I have narrowed down my shoes quite a bit too.
Once that was done I had earned money to start furnishing my new apartment, I bought a nice speaker and pair of earphones, It felt nice to have money and knowing I am spending smarter.
Minimalist Habits
Minimalism is not all about clothes and clutter, it is about freeing your mind, finding happiness and more free time.
Anyways Ill tell you some habits I started that helped me a lot.
One MAJOR one is putting my phone away when I got home, I would charge my phone in my room and go out biking or workout, do yoga, read. If someone asks you “what do you do for fun?” do you have an answer? if you don’t I can guarantee it’s because your’e stuck to your phone or the TV.
I am currently trying a social media cleanse, no socials except this and whatever I need to contact people.
Another is asking myself If I use certain things on the daily, Like all those cute  decorations from TJMaxx? why do I even own them?
I’m not saying get rid of everything you own, you can personalize it to you, for instance I love makeup so I am keeping most of it and I am an artist so I need supplies on deck. Maybe your’e a photographer so you have to have all of that equipment, whatever suits you works.
Another thing that saves me money is reusable items I purchased.  one being a reusable makeup wipe that was roughly 10$ for two, If you purchase makeup towelettes you probably spend on average around 150$ a year when you could spend 10$ once (and trust me they work, the brand I got was “erase your face”)
Next expanse for my ladies is tampons, per year the average woman uses 240 tampons, that’s a lot. which is 50$ a year if you use a 7$ box of 36 tampons, or you could use a diva cup or  period underwear and save all that money and they last over a year...
look at you go saving the environment and your wallet
