After literally forever, I’m ready to show my child, my baby, my favorite-est piece so far...Viola Vile. I’ve been talking about it forever, posting a bunch of bits here and there, and now, she’s finally good enough for me to feel comfortable showing her off.

How to explain Viola Vile? She is disgusting, she is remarkably crude and violent and, yes, as her name suggests vile. She is me digging into my psyche and talking about what sickens and fascinates me. She is me listening to my own words and saying “filthiness is next to godliness”. This is honestly the first time I feel like a real horror author, which is silly, but here I am! Baring my soul, flexing my gory, gross muscle.

Filthiness is Next to Godliness: The Final Interview of Viola Vile is the final interview of an infamous shock artist/performance artist/adult film star. It is, as the title suggests, the last interview of her life, which she is sharing with a reporter from her past.

Inspirations include: Tender is the Flesh, every r/gore page that traumatized me as a young child, performance artists such as Zhang Huan and Marina Ambrovich (and many others), @brownpaperhag‘s amazing piece ‘KIND’, as well as Countless Other Things. Ask me about it. I’m dying to talk about this piece.

Had a bit in a scene that I decided would be fun to try and draw myself using my non-dominant hand.

Lan Huan decides to draw Maa-maa a picture of them. So, he retrieves the art supplies from the cubby, and from his backpack, and they spend the afternoon drawing. A-Zhan makes a drawing with stick figures that Lan Huan can tell are meant to be them, but only because Lan Huan told him to do it. And Maa-maa takes it before a-Zhan can scribble all over it. She does give him another sheet of paper to do that on instead.

Lan Huan spends longer on his piece. And Maa-maa can tell it’s them without him having to say, although he does tell her, “A-Zhan looks like he’s grumpy, but that’s just what his face does. He’s actually happy because he’s with me and you.”

“And where are we?” Maa-maa asks.

“We're outside,” Lan Huan says, and stops himself before he tells Maa-maa that is why she’s smiling too. Because she’s not allowed outside, and reminding her of that will make her sad. 

“In our socks?” she asks, teases, as Lan Huan draws in the lines on the heels and toes, because he forgot those earlier.

He didn’t forget the dirt or the flowers. The brown and purple of the garden bed. Even if it’s too late in the year for them to bloom and mostly dirt right now, he still drew them like they are in spring. But he drew the people as they are now, in socks.

 “Oh, they’d get muddy…” 

They’d have to put on shoes to go outside.

Notes: This fic absolutely gives fall energy. The vibes are rainy day nights, casual strolls, smoky jazz bar, and steaming hot drinks. I love this au so so much it really is a soul balm. It does ft a tiny tiny bit of angst, but the ending is solid. It's like the hot chocolate of fics.

What starts off rocky soon evolves into the cutest little slow burn. This truly is a fall coffee shop fic; so much pumpkin spice and cozy energy.

Notes: The summary is short and the fic only around 10k but I swear it is so cute. It starts with a new cafe that opens without having coffee and turns into the cutest little romance. Wei ying just keeps going back and falling more in love with the cafe owner and baker. Lan zhan just can't stop giving his new customer custom orders and free treats. They are absolutely adorable- this is pure fluff.

Wei Ying looked down. No coffee, but there was a blue teapot with a small matching cup and a plate with a steam bun on it. Wei Ying blinked stupidly at it for a few moments before deciding it wasn’t worth arguing with the scarily intense man over it, and reached for the bun. It looked so inviting, and it was still warm. Biting into it Wei Ying then realised just how hungry he was, and within seconds the bun had been devoured. It was the best thing he had ever tasted.   A sleep deprived Wei Ying stumbles into a tea shop, meets an impossibly beautiful man, and is served a cup of tea that changes his life in more ways than he could have possibly expected. A modern day meet cute with heaps of Wangxian fluff, mutual pining, and A-Yuan adorableness galore!

NOTES: I love this fic so much because Lan Zhan is aggressively taking care of Wei Ying; the exhausted hot stranger who walked into his not even open yet tea shop. Wei Ying WILL drink the tea and WILL eat the snacks. Eventually Wei ying WILL come over to his house to have his laundry done and a place to relax and he WILL have the things he needs for his "son". It is absolutely so cute. Wei Ying never stood a chance XD. Also the speed in which lan zhan wants them to get together breaks the sound barrier.

Notes: A very short but cute fic- lan zhan is a simp and cannot help but continuously 'accidentally' upsizing all of wei yings orders. They are too cute in this. A small absolutely fluffy fic.

I had a cold earlier this week so I wrote half of a fluffy fic inflicting my cold onto SQQ:

“Liu-shidi is out at the moment,” Shen Qingqiu said, an awful rasp to his voice that Luo Binghe hated.  “Surely Shizun can call him back?” Luo Binghe pleaded.  “For what?” Shen Qingqiu asked, waving a sleeve. “A small cold? This master has managed worse. He’ll return when he returns, and until then it's not so bad.”  “But Shizun–” Luo Binghe tried to object, but Shen Qingqiu gave him a stern look that caused Luo Binghe to fold at once. He redoubled his efforts of looking sad and concerned and despondent as a quick countermeasure, and Shen Qingqiu sighed.  “It’s not so bad,” he repeated. “This master can still perform his duties just fine. Most likely it will pass before Liu Qingge even returns.”

outside of that, i have been on a major qijiu brainrot kick (i have a 8k fic for them i should be posting as soon as i decide if it needs a stronger dose of sqq or not + decide how to end it (sob)), and also reading a ton of disciple days/canon timeline bingqiu and having big feelings about how much i love them. ive also been returning to my unhorny women and gender studies liu qingge omegaverse fic that i am always contemplating but never actually writing, in which liu qingge is a not-like-other-girls omega in PIDW omegaverse and tries to marry shen qingqiu due to fantasy comp het

someday i must write this bc i love writing my favs as deaf or hoh. id love to explore shang qinghua as being both physically and culturally Deaf and how that plays into his interactions with the world post-transmigration, where there is even less accommodations or access for someone with a disability and he is cut off from his community, especially in terms of his work on an ding and relationship with his martial siblings. mbj not noticing a major facet of his life feels in character and like great drama lol, and i think the conclusion is definitely mbj learning ZGS that teaches him and he ends up liking using it way more than speaking verbally, both for sqh's ease and because he doesnt like to talk lol

It is not late at all over here at my part of the globe so all good! Uh i’ve begun to realise this story has horror/dark themes in it soo warning for suicide/overdosing/murder btw!!

So starting of with Claire, I’ll explain a bit of the Beckett family’s ‘lore’ lmao. Claire is a surrogate child and Ryan is adopted! Claire was a child (she still is a child but when she was younger than 10) when Josh fully transitioned but it wasn’t rlly a big change for her since Josh explained it well! (also hey adele if your quite young child can understand trans people and accept them before you then like yeah)

Since Claire is the only girl in the family, Adele sees all her personal feelings about herself in Claire and projects them onto Claire, which is not good!! Literally anything from body shaming to just yelling about a cup left in the sink. So that leaves Claire with not good mental health, and in the main story timeline, she’s trying to tell Ryan about all the things Adele has said to her, but Ryan’s kind of the favourite child (besides the fact he’s trans which Adele talks about negatively behind his back!!) so he’s like wydm mum’s chill! Claire ends up killing herself in the middle of the story (that sounds so bad typing that oh noo girl noo) by chugging alcohol and Panadol (and everything else in the medicine cabinet D:) and running into the woods filled with monsters, and kind of going ‘COME AND GET ME’ and a monster ends up biting her head off? After she’s died from the overdose? And Ryan comes across the corpse when him and his friends are trying to find one of the cult members sooo not good for Ryan!! So now Adele’s driving and then all of a sudden sees her daughter in the backseat of the car, with like blood running from her head-

Onto Huan Lin! He was the son of a high ranking cult member and was besties with Janette. They were the only kids who had ‘potential’ to be leader of the cult when it came time. Janette’s mum, Briar, the leader of the cult at the time, was like ‘hey you’ll amount to nothing if you don’t become the leader of this cult btw’ and told Janette Huan was conspiring against her to kill her (which in the cult happened a lot) and that she should kill him before that happens.

So on one day, Janette and Huan Lin go for a drive, like a drive to go to the shops lol, and on the way back, Huan Lin hopped out to fix a car tyre since it was getting flat. Janette basically shoots him while thats going on- uh that happens!! And she has to pick up his body and put it in the backseat, and while she’s driving back to the cult building, his dead body’s just leaking blood onto the car seat and she still has that car and she keeps scrubbing it to the point there’s a mark from the cleaning liquid! And now she has nightmares about it and keeps seeing him in the mirror pointing at her son like ‘hey this guy will die’ Oliver doesn’t btw! It’s just to freak Janette out.

The story of the first unofficial MiG Kill achieved by an American fighter in the skies over Vietnam

The F-100 Super Sabre flew more individual sorties in Vietnam than any other fighter, but it was never credited with an air-to-air victory.

The first officially listed American aerial victory during the Vietnam War was achieved by a U.S. Navy F-4B Phantom that destroyed a Chinese MiG-17 on Apr. 9, 1965. However, compelling evidence clearly suggests that another MiG-17, this time a North Vietnamese one, was shot down by a USAF F-100D, flown by Capt. Donald Kilgus on Apr. 4, achieving the only Super Sabre air-to-air victory and predating the first US Navy MiG Kill by five days.

Nevertheless according to Donald J. McCarthy, Jr. book, “MiG Killers A Chronology of U.S. Air Victories in Vietnam 1965-1973,” the outcome of the air battle during which Kilgus destroyed the MiG-17 has long been the subject of much debate by historians over years.

This aerial engagement took place during the second strike on the Dragon’s Jaw bridge, 70 miles from Hanoi: the bridge was attacked by several F-105s while a total of 16 F-100Ds from the 416th Tactical Fighter Squadron (TFS) fulfilled both Rescue Combat Air Patrol (RESCAP) and MiG Combat Air Patrol (MiGCAP) missions.

As explained by Peter Davies and David Menard in their book “F-100 Super Sabre Units of the Vietnam War,” the RESCAP F-100D flight (using “Green” as callsign), carrying 2.75-in rocket pods, set up an offshore orbit, ready to move in and cover for SAR forces if required. As the strike package approached its target, the North Vietnamese controllers vectored two MiG-17s behind Green flight from a head-on approach.

The 416th TFS F-100s turned to meet them and Capt. Kilgus (flying the F-100D tail number 55-2894, callsign “Green 2”) pursued one of the MiGs in a steep dive from 20,000ft down to 7,000ft, firing several bursts with his 20mm cannons and observing hits on the fighter’s right stabilizer.

He and other flight members saw pieces flying off the MiG, but at the last moment Kilgus had to pull out of his dive, whereupon he lost sight of the target in the hazy conditions above the Gulf of Tonkin.

Super Sabre

Other three MiGs were able to attack the F-105s and two North Vietnamese pilots, Capt. Tran Hanh and Le Minh Huan, downed two of them, while the MiGCAP F-100Ds tried unsuccessfully to defend the Thuds, firing two Sidewinders and several bullets from their 20mm cannons that missed the MiG-17s.

Even though Kilgus believed that his MiG could not have survived, he was credited with only a probable victory by the U.S. Air Force because nobody had seen a pilot eject nor an aircraft crash. Moreover, the request to reconsider his claim was refused by the Air Force, given that President Lyndon Johnson had said that he did not want any MiGs to be shot down because he feared that aerial engagements of this kind provoked Russia and China, North Vietnam’s main allies during the war.

However, the Vietnamese have later admitted the loss of not one, but as many as three MiG-17s during the air battles on Apr. 4, 1965. They also identified the pilots by name and unit: Pham Giay, Le Minh Huan, and Tran Nguyen Nam, all of the 921st Fighter Regiment. According to Istvan Toperczer’s book “MiG-17 and MiG-19 Units of the Vietnam War,” the only Vietnamese pilot to survive to this air battle was Capt. Tran Hanh who said that the three MiGs lost that day were lost to American fighters.

Noteworthy, in the mind of Capt. Kilgus there has never been any doubt about the outcome of this air battle: in fact he painted a MiG kill marking beneath the windscreen of the F-100D tail number 55-2894 and another on the F-105G Wild Weasel that he flew later in the war.

General Opinion over said character: can't say I like him exactly, but I do get defensive on his behalf - he is smart, charismatic, and a politician. Hunting does not necessarily mean roughing it in the woods; it can be riding out with servants and tents and people you want to schmooze with: a full-on party where you can politic as well.
