Headlines: U.S. to send 15th military package to Ukraine, bringing total aid in Russia war to $7 billion
— Overall, the U.S. has sent about $7.3 billion in aid to Ukraine since the war began in late February.
Biden is set to announce a new security assistance package worth $400 million for Ukraine.
Which is about $40 billion in aid …. When you add other country’s contributions.
This is enough to aide DRC, Sri Lanka, Yemen, Afghanistan, Venezuela, Syria, & The U.S.
But this whole production is not about aiding a humanitarian crisis… this is about U.S/European corruption.
…. And Frankly they can care less if the rest of us rot…

The Senate has passed a bill intended to unblock Canadian aid in Afghanistan without amendment. The Criminal Code changes allow development workers to apply for exemptions from terrorism laws, which currently criminalize paying taxes to the ruling Taliban because it is designated as a terrorist group. Amendments from the Conservatives and NDP in the House of Commons also added a blanket exemption for humanitarian workers who are providing life-saving aid in response to emergencies. The passage of the bill by both chambers of Parliament comes more than a year after many of Canada’s allies issued exemptions for aid workers in their own terrorism laws. Some senators had expressed fears about how bureaucrats might enforce the bill, but the Senate gave unanimous consent to pass multiple stages of the bill all at once, ensuring it will become law before a scheduled summer break. Reading it for the second time certainly did not lessen the pain. Hosseini's debut novel, you may call it a tad melodramatic because it bases itself too firmly on the pathos of the character of Hassan being too pure to be true. But you cannot harp too much on the why because it is Soviet-invaded Afghanistan. It doesn't matter what ideology you believe in, the humanitarian crisis in the country under the Shorawi and then the Taliban can make you retch in horror and cry in grief. And this backdrop is what makes Hassan even more unbelievably good. My friend told me the first time we read this book that if she ever had or adopted a child, she'd name him Hassan. And you cannot simply dismiss that as a childish sentiment. Because, once you've finished the book, you've cried enough times to know why she felt so. And the way Hosseini makes use of the Pashto vernacular in the dialogue as well as the narration is also something to take note of. Amir's guilt goes back in time, in space and also in religion/ ethnicity. Pashtun nang and namoos gift you self-respect and dignity, but it takes away your right to truth and to love. Shared values in a community can make and break you, and Amir destroys two lives (with hesitation) because he needs to win his father's hard love, but he also risks his life and his wife's wifehood when his more fatherly Rahim Khan calls him home to be good again. He is flawed and remains so, but he does change, and Sohrab's smile that ends the novel gives you a ray of hope too, and a small happiness, what you might've felt if you were Amir and Hassan told you:
For you a thousand times over.

RAFAH, Gaza Strip (AP) — More than half a million people in Gaza — a quarter of the population — are starving, according to a report Thursday by the U.N. and other agencies that highlights the humanitarian crisis caused by Israel’s bombardment and siege on the territory in response to Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack. The extent of the population’s hunger eclipsed even the near-famines in Afghanistan and Yemen of recent years, according to figures in the report. The report warned that the risk of famine is “increasing each day,” blaming the hunger on insufficient aid entering Gaza. “It doesn’t get any worse,’’ said Arif Husain, chief economist for the U.N.’s World Food Program. “I have never seen something at the scale that is happening in Gaza. And at this speed.” ... At the start of the war, Israel stopped all deliveries of food, water, medicine and fuel into the territory. After U.S. pressure, it allowed a trickle of aid in through Egypt. But U.N. agencies say only 10% of Gaza’s food needs has been entering for weeks. (Dec. 21, 2023 | Source)

I am calling to ask that the Representative add their name to the Ceasefire Now resolution led by Representatives Cori Bush and Rashida Tlaib, regarding the unfolding crisis in Gaza. It is absolutely urgent that the Representative demand a ceasefire, and that they call on Israel to allow humanitarian assistance into Gaza. The only way forward is addressing the root causes of violence: Israeli military occupation and apartheid, and ending U.S. complicity in this oppression.

Pakistan:
Strongly condemning Israel's assault on the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, Pakistan said Monday that Tel Aviv is in violation of measures ordered by the UN's top court last month.
The Maldives:
The Maldives on Monday also strongly condemned Israel's "threats to launch a full-scale invasion" on Rafah city. "The forced displacement and inhumane attacks against innocent Palestinians and the obstruction of humanitarian assistance by the Israeli occupation forces is against international laws and regulations and tantamount to war crimes," the said a Foreign Ministry statement from the capital Male.
Afghanistan:
The interim Taliban administration in Afghanistan also joined the chorus against the Israeli attacks on Rafah. "The continuation of brutality of Zionist forces on Rafah city will cause a major disaster and make the ongoing crisis spiral out," the Foreign Ministry in Kabul said.
China:
China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson said that Israel’s actions in Rafah harm civilians and violate international law. China opposed and condemned Israel’s Rafah actions and it is closely following the developments in the Rafah area. It further urged Israel to stop its military operation as soon as possible and warned of a ‘serious humanitarian disaster’ if Israel continues its ground offensive in Rafah.
Venezuela:
In a statement, the Venezuelan Foreign Affairs Ministry condemned "the actions taken by the Government of Israel within the framework of the expansion of the military offensive in the Gaza Strip toward Rafah, in the far south. "The statement added that this "Israeli Zionist plan aims to continue implementing its criminal and expansionist policy in this area that is home to more than one million four hundred thousand displaced Palestinians."

Hihi! I’m just curious, could you tell me how supporting people who are going through like the current worst humanitarian crisis right now is antisemitism?
“Entire Gaza population now 100 percent severely food insecure
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken highlighted Gaza’s deteriorating food situation where hundreds of thousands of people face famine.
‘According to the most respected measure of these things, 100 percent of the population in Gaza is at severe levels of acute food insecurity. That’s the first time an entire population has been so classified,’ said Blinken during an official visit to the Philippines.
‘We also see, according to the United Nations, 100 percent the totality of the population is in need of humanitarian assistance. Compare that to Sudan; about 80 percent of the population there is in need of humanitarian assistance; Afghanistan, about 70 percent.’”

I don’t hate Jewish people, I just want to support people in need. And I’m not Jewish or anything so I’m not going to pretend I know all about being Jewish, but isn’t being kind and helping people part of what the Jewish religion is about? Doesn’t causing the first case of 100% food insecurity go directly against that? I do not hate all Jewish people or all Israelis. I simply hate to see an entire population suffer like this, so could you please explain to me how supporting people in such need is antisemitism?
Al Jazeera is an antisemetic "source"
