Belos is the worst of the fucking worst because he could’ve possessed ANYONE, he chose to use Hunter specifically a clone of HIS brother, because he doesn’t see Hunter or Caleb, for that matter, as people. He only sees them as OBJECTS, his to use and manipulate whenever he wants.

He murdered Flapjack like it was nothing because he didn’t see a living thing, he saw another tool. He’s the worst of human kind- he’s the least human of them all.

Why Hunter shouldn't be adopted by everyone

I know everyone wants to give Hunter all the parent figures and have him be adopted by as many stable adults as possible but that's actually not good for Hunter's mental health. Hunter's already a traumatized kid, one of the last thing he needs is adults fighting over him (which he will not find endearing and actually be stressed the fuck out) or having to constantly move from house to house because of a split custody arrangement.

What Hunter needs is ONE stable home that he can fall back on, he needs stability.

And I think Darius is going to be that one person, why?

Eda is good with kids but she already has two kids of her own (and a security system that always wants attention) not only is the Owl House chaotic but Eda would be splitting her time up with three traumatized children. Hunter needs help and a lot of it but being the oldest kid in the household, his needs might have to be put on the backburner for say, King's needs. Not to mention I think Hunter would be looking for a paternal figure as paternal affection is what he's strived for all his life.

Raine is a pretty good option but they will probably get married to Eda and live in a very chaotic household, at least there will be two adults to take care of three kids but still, Owl House is pretty chaotic, Hunter needs less chaos in his life, not more.

Camila, another good option for a stable home but if Hunter goes to live with her she'll have 3 kids she needs to deal with and it's pretty clear she can barely handle giving one the attention and care they need. (not that she's a bad parent, she isn't but maybe it's best not to have a super traumatized kid that needs a LOT of attention with someone who's already struggling to give enough attention to the kids she already has.)

Alador, he's definitely getting better at being a parent but first he needs to repair relationships with his own kids before even thinking of taking another kid in

Darius definitely needs to make up for his prior behavior with Hunter still but being a man with no kids means that he will be able to provide Hunter with the attention he needs whenever he needs it. He also has already developed a relationship with Hunter so if Hunter moves in with him he won't have to necessarily start from scratch. Hunter seems to clear deeply for Darius and vice versa. Darius can provide Hunter with a stable and calm environment that Hunter so desperately needs. He can give him the paternal affection Hunter has craved all his life.

Gilbert and Harvey park, they seem like a great family but keep in mind that if the park family adopts Hunter that means Hunter would be Willows adopted older brother... The show seems to be going in the direction of huntlow being end game so... Yeah... Awkward.

Perry Porter, yeah I don't know enough of this guy to comment but it does seem that Gus and Hunter already have a brother like relationship which is good.

Bat Queen, contrary to what other fans think, I have my doubts on Bat Queen being happy to see Hunter... Remember it took a while for Owlbert to get Bat Queen to agree on letting him go with Luz because of an accident, keep in mind Bat Queen was already in debt to Eda for babysitting her children yet still wouldn't let Owlbert go home because her apprentice accidentally got Owlbert hurt, what would Bat Queen's reaction be to the kid that sent countless Palismen to their death (or tried at least)

If Darius does take in Hunter, I really hope Darius doesn't get in a relationship for a while or at least get married (specifically to Alador) . Hunter needs some time in a quiet peaceful place before all of a sudden gaining 3 siblings. We also run into the problem similar to Owl House where Hunter might not get enough attention.

Hopefully Hunter does not get into a romantic relationships for a while either. Romance is work and a whole bunch of drama.

Bump, he's pretty good guardian fit for Hunter but his method of dealing with rebellious teenagers leave something to be desired... Also I think he's done with troubled kids after having Eda as a student. Have my doubts that he wants to actively live with a troubled kid 24/7.

TLDR: Hunter needs one place to call home, not to have to constantly move house every week because of a custody agreement. Out of all the potential guardians, Darius has the best resources to deal with Hunter and his needs because he has no kids (that we know of) already knows Hunter and Hunter seems to already care deeply for Darius.

Instead of thinking about who cares and could be a good parent to Hunter, think about who could provide the best environment for Hunter and his needs, and what that environment entails.

The vice grip these two have on me.

Hunter shaking a weak and dying Darius, begging him to wake up while he himself has a sigil and was also in the process of dying had me aching.

But then I imagined if the group wasn’t with him. If he just… gave up then and there.

He doesn’t know how long he was shaking Darius for, calling his name and silently pleading in his head. But it’s useless. Darius isn’t going to wake up, and Hunter can feel himself getting weaker. He thinks about all the things he would tell Darius. How grateful he was that someone knew he was a good kid. Someone who recognizes he is a kid and that he shouldn’t have to deal with any of this.

A tear leaves his eye. He’s tired. So very tired.

He and Darius haven’t ever even hugged. But in that moment, Hunter lifts Darius’ arm and crawls under, places it over his chest as he lies down beside Darius and surrenders himself. He can hear Darius’ shallow breaths, as his own grow weaker.

He sleeps. Like a child abandoning his worries and entrusting himself to someone who will protect him.

Darius feels cold. It would be different had they hugged sooner. It would’ve been a warm embrace, had it happened sooner.

Maybe their hugs would be warm in the next life. In the next life, they would hug again and again.

Hunter couldn’t wait.

He most likely stumbled upon you while out on a mission. Considering the reputation that the emperors coven had built for itself, your first instinct was to hide.

He didn't stick around to get a good look at you unfortunately. Though after said mission, he circled back around just to examine you- or at least where you were.

He had to admit, he was a bit jealous of lifeforms such as yourself that can withstand the boiling heat of the waters in the boiling isles. It must mean the rain just means rain, and not danger. Or that you are able to stay hydrated without blistering your throat.

Against his better judgement, he decided to buy some food from one of the local shops and place it on the shore. Just to see if you'd eat it.

Obviously, you were hesitant, but after a bit you slowly surfaced, allowing the guard to see you. Mer-peopke were rather rare as they weren't really a demon nor a witch so he jumped at the opportunity to examine something out of the norm.

Thats when he noticed your tail. It had been scabbed and trapped up in a discarded fishing net. Litter wasn't as big of an issue as it was in the human realm, but it still had been something that had affected the land.

When the guard reached out to try undo said net, but you immediately feared the worst and reacted in fear. You slapped his hand away before swimming back down in the deep seas.

The guard couldn't have stayed there all day, the emperor was expectinh him back soon. So instead, he had left.

Despite leaving the scene though, thoughts of the mermaid ate at his mind for the rest of the night. He had never really seen any creature quite like that.

He'll start making daily check-ups with you, helping clean the waters as well as bring you some food.

It took a while for you to warm up and speak to him, but when you did the boy was awestruck and almost immediately turned into an awkward sweaty mess.

He's never met a creature as majestic as you, and even though your life seems like hell with constantly being hunted as well as getting tangled up in litter, you never seem to get brought down by it.

He makes a habit out of visiting you and untangling you in any garbage you get caught in while out on patrols.

If it's raining, sometimes you can even crawl out of the water. Though, that's just for short periods of time.

When you two do finally date, expect him to be a very flustered sweaty man. He's a teen boy with trauma, so he's no prince charming when it comes to love and affection

It's a bit difficult maintaining any time of relationship with a being like you, considering if he goes into the water he'll get burnt beyond recognition, but he tries his hardest to make it work. You're practically the one thing that brings him joy anymore, so he'll be damned if he let's something as simply as water destroy your relationship.

Nightmares

Hunter x witch!reader (romantic)

Summary: Hunter loves to come to your house when he has a bad nightmare.

Warnings:blood,nightmares. 16+ (a small make out in the morning.)

All Hunter could see was black. He was walking around his old home, along the halls of the place that he grew up in. Then he sees all the blood that shouldn’t be there.

Belos was holding you all Hunter saw was the blood coming from you.

The next thing Hunter knew, he was begging Belos to let you go and Belos did just that but he threw you against the wall.

Hunter ran to you and hugged you tight.

“My love please wake up.” Is the only thing Hunter could say with tears running down his face.

This is his fault. If he didn’t fall for you, you would’ve been just fine. Belos wouldn’t have anything to use against him.

“Next time you disobey me, she will not be able to breath again.” Belos threatens.

Hunter screams your name when he wakes up with tears streaming down his face.

He needs to go see you.

He needs to make sure that you are alive and it was just a dream. Just a horrible dream.

You were asleep when Hunter came to your window.

The banging he is doing woke you up and you looks at your window.

You get up and move to your window. As soon you open your window, Hunter jumps into your arms.

“Baby?” You asked and he nuzzles into your neck breathing pretty hard and his poor body is shaking.

“Nightmare. You were gone from me.” He sobs as he hugged you tight.

“I am here and alive. Don’t worry.” You whisper while hiding in his neck to help his breathing.

“Can I feel your pulse?” He ask and you nod.

You guys pull away from each other a bit and he grabs neck softly and finds your pulse. He lets out a shaky breath finally feeling your heartbeat.

“Thank the Titans.” Hunter sighs.

“Can I touch you?” You ask and he nods.

“Please do.”

You cup his face and kisses his scar that’s on his jaw and presses your forehead on his and he starts to relegate his breathing.

“Wanna try and go back to sleep?” You whispers trying not to ruin the comfortable silence.

“Please.”

You take his hand and you crawl into bed as he follows. He snuggles up to your chests near your heart and you hug his neck with your chin cheek on his head.

“Thank you.” He whispers kissing your cheek and you smile.

“Don’t have to thank me Hunter. You can wake me up anytime.”

“Titans I love you.”

“I love you too.” You say as you fall back to sleep.

Hunter follows suit and falls asleep without anymore nightmares for that night.

In the morning, Hunter wakes up to you in his neck with your arms around his chest. He smiles while drawing circles in your shoulder blades softly.

All he can do is think how lucky he is to have you.

You keep him sane with everything that is going on in his life and with Belos. He wishes that you didn’t have to worry about him but you would’ve worried if you guys were in a relationship or not.

He doesn’t realize that he was speaking his mind out loud till you kiss his lips. He melts into your touch as your arms move to his neck and his hand holds your face.

You feel so warm he touches you.

“Hello there beautiful.” He whispers.

“Hello handsome. You were mumbling. I got some of the things you were saying.”

His face goes red and you giggle.

“How much did you hear?”

“‘I am so sorry. I put you through so much and yet you love me so much. I don’t deserve you.’” You quote and he sighs. “You do deserve me. If anything, I don’t deserve you. You don’t put me through anything, I will follow you any day and anywhere. Even if you push me away, I will follow Hunter.” You say and he moves his hands to your waist as he presses his forehead to yours and you smile.

“Kiss me.” He whispers and you did just that.

He flipped you on his back as you pulled away for breath and after you filled your lungs, you reattached your lips to his. You guys moved together against your lips as you were fleshed against each other with his hands next to your head.

“Hunter. Can you touch my skin? You don’t have to, I just really like your touch.” You explain in between kisses and he moves on of his hands to touch the skin on your hips and you smile in the kiss.

You cup his face as you wrap your legs around his waist and he moved to your neck.

“Y/n! Eda-” Luz barged in and you hid in your pillows and Hunter lets you go and looks horrified.

“Luz! KNOCK!” You yell and Luz laughs you Amity comes in and she snickers while covering her mouth.

“When did he come?” Luz asked.

“Last night. Now go away!” You throw your pillow and she runs away laughing.

“I am so sorry.” Amity says and she closes the door and you scream in your pillow.

“I forgot she lives here.” Hunter says and you look at him.

“Are you okay?” You ask and he smiles kissing your cheek.

“Of course.” He smiles and Eda knocks the door and she opens it.

“Hey, were you two being safe?” Eda asks.

“We weren’t doing that! Just kissing!” Your face goes red and she smiles.

“Okay good. Breakfast is done.” She says and you nodded.

“Thank you.”

She hums as she leaves and Hunter sighs.

“I got to go.” He tells you.

“Okay.” You pout and he kisses your forehead.

“I love you. I will see you later.” He says and you nodded.

“I love you too.” You say and he leaves out the window.
