A special kind of intimacy between characters

[Not restricted to romantic dynamics!]

- I tear bread into smaller pieces to feed them to you, as if I am Jesus, or a mother bird. You may view me as a savior but I would kill for you

- Being there for the other person when they're sick - In a gross, disgusting way. Holding them unwaveringly through the wretched and repulsive, unflinchingly. Don't apologise, just survive. I'd do it again.

- You're scary, but I'm scarier. You don't know that yet, but I hope you won't fear me when you do.

- You're scary, and thank God for that. I'm more than happy to close my eyes when you use it on others. I am a coward.

- One character knowing exactly what the other one would really like to ask for, but is too self conscious or selfless to. Thus, they do it and provide, without the other person needing to outright request it. The self conscious character always makes sure the other one knows it's not obligated and they're always free to decline, and the other one nods firmly, knowing that, and still doing it.

- Sitting next to each other at the end of the world. Because it won't be okay. But they've accepted that

- "You destroyed the thing I love and I can't forgive you for it." "I can't forgive myself either." "I still can't hate you despite that." "I can."

- "Please hate me" "No."

- One character understanding when the other is in too low of a state to act like a decent person currently, and so they don't step over those lines that they'd normally tolerate. The first character holds the other one responsible for things later nonetheless, when they're able to actually carry it

- Two characters sharing the negative perceptions and opinions they've had of each other over the years. This can either lead to a realization that, respectfully, out of deep understanding of each other, they decide to not stay in touch with each other again from now on. Or, it can lead to a realization that thanks to this understanding they now have, they're more ready to become closer and have managed to clear the air with this conversation

- Characters of notably different ages talk and reflect on time that has passed between them. They feel a connection over how different their circumstances were. The younger one audibly wishes they could've done or changed something significant, to which the older character pointedly and gently tells them it wasn't their place to. Let us old crooks handle the tough things. (It wasn't your fault you spent formative years like this. I'm sorry you had to)

Some of the Most Story Moments of All Time:

Hand kisses

Forehead touches

First kiss between character who has been pining for ages and character whose feelings have always been hidden/unclear

Desperate weeping in the arms of someone the character loves

Desperate weeping in the arms of someone the character hates, because that's the only person there

Someone whose head is lowered in shame having it lifted up with a gentle hand under the chin, only to see forgiveness in the eyes of someone who has every right not to give it

Trying not to cry, only for something small and inconsequential to shatter the character completely

Noses brushing before or after a kiss

When they're kissing and crying at the same time, tears mingling

When a character's friend or beloved is in danger and they go quiet and/or silent, and anyone who knows them knows they just got a lot more dangerous

A character stroking someone's hair

When they know they have a lot they need to say to each other-good, bad, or other-but they're both so exhausted that they just sink to the ground, words temporarily put aside for rest, for listening to each other's quiet breaths

When a character has one specific thing they always use to get through to/comfort someone they love, and one day they have to use it under extreme circumstances (the other character is brainwashed, for instance) and it works

Similarly, a character stepping closer to a brainwashed character, ignoring the warnings, because "I know you won't hurt me"

When two characters who have had several almost-kisses finally get their kiss

Dancing but with a threat behind it; the assassin dancing with the target, and they both know who the other is, but they're both too careful to make a scene, so they sway in each other's arms, faces serene, as if one isn't holding a knife on the other and the other doesn't have a gun resting against the one's back

“I am not laughing,” Percy says. He tries to get his breathing under control. “When?”

Annabeth breathes slowly, carefully. He’s seen this before. She thinks he’s going to run. “When you disappeared,” she half whispers. “I – I didn’t know, sometimes, if we’d get you back. Some mornings I’d wake up and forget you were gone, and it hurt – it hurt so much, Percy.” She looks up at him, giant grey eyes brimming with tears. “The longer I thought it was all okay, the more it would hurt.” She shows him the little trident tattooed on her left middle finger, the side facing her body, again. Dark blue, nothing but an outline. “This way, I could see. This way I would remember, first thing.”

“Didn’t it hurt?” he asks.

She shrugs. “I’ve been stabbed before. Tattoos are the least of my worries.”

“I mean seeing it, every morning, knowing…” He trails off. “Knowing I was gone.” It’s warm in the stables, surrounded by the hay, but Percy feels part of his soul go cold knowing how long Annabeth hurt because of him. Even if it wasn’t his fault.

She nodded. “But the sooner it hurt, the sooner I could get through it and focus on what mattered.” He watches as she smiles, and she really is the most beautiful person he could imagine. “Finding you.”

thinking about the date scene...and honestly i dont know which idea i love more cause like

the idea that buck is going all out and cooking for tommy (ESPECIALLY if he's like, just coming off shift) and tommy just smiling so softly cause like!! someone put the effort into doing something nice for him and maybe that doesnt happen all too often/hasnt really happened before, and it just absolutely staggers him how much this man actually wants to do nice things for him 🥹

BUT THEN ALSO

the idea of buck and tommy cooking together, moving around the space together with ease and such simple domesticity!! small touches as they reach around each other, buck having tommy sample the sauce to see how it tastes, maybe tommy makes the garlic bread and its a secret family recipe and when buck asks about it, tommy says hmm, maybe someday with the soft crinkley smile... 🥹🥹
