There's so much goodness in other reblog chaina (please go check them out!) but I have a slightly different idea in mind, because I'm a slut for the GhostKing!Danny trope.

(Sidenote: I'm writing this with a headache so please forgive me if it gets a little loopy or doesn't make sense at some points, I just wanted to get this out there before I forget.)

The meeting immediately screeches to a halt as the older heroes are struggling to keep their cool. On the one hand, they knew that ghosts function VERY differently from living beings, regardless of species. That a ghost's age and appearance don't have to match. But they also know that Phantom is still half alive (none of them understand how that works, not even Danny). That Danny's human half is 20, and his ghost half is only six.

Not to mention that in spite of his young age, for the last two years, he's been officially crowned High King of the Infinite and about this time last year he'd joined the JL. A fact that had made Constantine nearly faint.

The sorcerer had been petrified to learn that the Ghost King was now an ally, as the last he heard, the King had been Pariah. When he learned that the position had been usurped by not only a teenager, but a BABY GHOST? He'd been simultaneously relieved and stricken because if he'd been that strong as what was essentially the ghostly version of a toddler, then that had some heavy implications for the strength of said toddler once he came into his full power as an adult.

Now they were hearing that he was apparently having CONTRACTIONS? As in about to give birth?!

Batman spoke up, his voice a trained calm tone. "Would you please elaborate? Do you mean to tell us that you are currently in the process of... giving birth?"

Phantom blinked owlishly before sheepishly rubbing the back of his neck. "Ohhh crap, I totally forgot to tell you all didn't I? Umm to answer your question, yeah? But technically I have been for the last... what day is it? Tuesday?"

Someone nodded.

"For the last 4 days then. See, ghost pregnancies are, like most things with us, are really complicated. TECHNICALLY I'm not actually pregnant? But I also am? Basically my former arch nemesis tried to clone me after he largely gave up on trying to convert me to being his son and he failed. A lot. There were only 5 clones that survived long enough to form their own cores that he then sent after me. But I was stronger, and they weren't stable enough to last long and since they were 'failures', Vlad was gonna let them dissolve while he watched and studied them destabilizing."

The table creaked as Superman's grip on the rim tightened, but Phantom continued.

"I wasn't gonna let them End like that, they didn't ASK to be made, they were just babies that were doing what they could to please the only parent they knew they had. Four of them didn't last long at all and reverted to their cores pretty quickly, but one of them was stable long enough to help me against Vlad and went exploring on her own for awhile to try and learn who she was while I kept the other four in a tub of ecto. But when she started destabilizing too, she came back and we went to Frostbite and he said the only way to help them all was to incubate them next to my own core, so they could mirror its stability and be fed a constant flow of healthy ecto. So that's what I did."

The halfa shrugged as if it wasn't a massive bomb that he just dropped, only to add a second even bigger one. "Oh, and then an evil version of my ghost half from a dead timeline that fused with Vlad's ghost half started destabilzing in his timelocked prison, so I decided to incubate him too. Clockwork assured me that the chance of him trying to destroy the Earth again was extremely unlikely, so I wanted to give him a second chance too."

If they weren't in space, there would be crickets chirping as Phantom finally finished speaking.

Batman had to swallow the bile rising in his throat at the prospect of a 16 year old choosing to become a single parent to sextuplets created by a creepy old man. "I see... Where is this 'Vlad'?"

"He's rotting in Walker's prison for crimes against the crown, both before and after I took over, and many other crimes. Don't worry, he's also got no legal custody over my kids. Since he'd abandoned my clones and technically had no direct part in creating my evil version, the courts agreed that he has no right to any of them."

That was... mildly relieving. "You are being very mature about this." Wonder Woman added.

"I mean yeah? I had to grow up quick even before this, but if I had to make the choice again, I would." He smiled softly, resting a hand on his sternum, where they assumed the baby cores rested.

"If you've been in labor for four days, how much longer will this go on? Do you require medical assistance or accommodations?" Wonder Woman was worried for the young man, though she had to admire his dedication.

"Average pregnancies last beween 1 and 10 years, depending on the size of the..." He paused and looked thoughtful before continuing. "Litter, for lack of better translation. Once contractions begin, they last for up to a week until the ghostling's ready, then they're born one at a time, with usually a couple weeks to maybe a month or two between them. It's incredibly taxing on the parent's core, since we have to make sure that each one gets enough ecto to form a body. So the first one should be born any day now, and I'll be able to sense when. As far as accommodations, I just have to ask that no one goes into my quarters for now? Frostbite says that birthing parents get extremely territorial during and after giving birth so I'd rather not accidentally hurt anyone. I should be fine medically wise? I've got plenty of emergency ecto in my quarters. Ideally I'll be in my castle for the next few months, but knowing my luck, there'll probably be at least one world ending threat that needs my help."

"Understood. Thank you for sharing all this with us." She smiled softly at him as he returned one, embarrassed.

"No problem. Sorry for not bringing this up sooner, I genuinely thought I had."

"Don't worry about it, young Phantom. Just know that if you require any assistance, we are more than willing to provide it."

"Oh- um- thank you." He blushed, face turning a pale shade of green that made his silver freckles stand out more, his long ears drooping a tad. "I'll keep that in mind. Though I would appreciate any pointers from those of you with kids? I don't know what their temperments will be yet, but if they're anything like me, they're gonna be absolute gremlins." The whole table turned to look pointedly at Batman, whom sighed.

"I will provide you with a pamphlet, as well as a copy of Agent A's more simple meal and desert recipes. You are more than welcome to stop by the Batcave to pick them up at your convenience, as I am sure tha Agent A would like to guide you through some recipes if you are inexperienced."

"Woah really?!" Phantom perked up, eyes literally shining like neon green beacons. "That would be amazing! Thank you so much!"

Batman grunted quietly, though those that knew him well could see the amusement lingering in his body language. After a few more minutes, Phantom had to run, as another contraction hit and he wanted to visit his doctor to make sure that things were progressing properly. Once he was gone, silence settled over the conference table for several moments before Hal spoke up.

"So we're breaking into Walker's prison to beat that sonuva bitch into ectopulp, right?"

So if ghosts can revert into their core, what if Dani did when she was destabilizing?

What if cores needed a safe resting place with access to ectoplasm? And it's instinct for ghosts to protect and nurture cores. As they're very vulnerable.

Danny acting on instinct absorbs the core or cores??(other clones?) into his body. To keep them safe.

So he carries these cores around until they mature and are stable enough to take form.

However, this takes time, like years.

So I propose. Newest JL member Danny Phantom just suddenly gasping and keeling over in the middle of a meeting or fight??

JL members start panicking. Like wtf?? What's wrong with Phantom? An attack? Is he hurt?

Phantom just sits up and continues the meeting or fight like normal until it happens again and they're like " Are you hurt? Poisoned? What is it!"

Danny just shrugs and goes " It's fine, just contractions".

"Contractions?..."

"Yeah! They suck, but I'm glad they'll be here soon. It's been like 4 years".

Just the JL or whoever panicking and being super protective over there newest and youngest member, who, through a series of misunderstandings, thinks Phantoms been knocked up for 4 years by his arch nemesis.

Being someone who read Under The Red Hood and came out with the firm belief that, for Jason, it's not about killing Joker, it's about Jason wanting proof Batman would choose him over the Joker (bc shelia chose the joker). Makes seeing any other media where it's all about just wanting the Joker dead is a teeny bit frustrating. to be honest

Jason could've killed the Joker himself, really, really easily. Jason kidnaps the Joker before the confrontation. I can't open my comic for a reference right now, but it felt like he had the Joker for quite a bit before the confrontation. He had him. He beat him up with a crowbar. He had every single opportunity to kill the Joker himself, but he didn't because that wasn't his goal. Make no mistake, he did plan for the Joker to be dead by the end of it, but do you see what im trying to say here

It's not about making Batman kill either. When Batman says he won't kill, Jason adjusts and goes, 'Let ME kill the Joker or kill me to stop me' instead. The test is all about Batman choosing him. The whole final confrontation is Jason's first death again. The parent, The Joker, and the explosives. It even ends with Jason unable to move as a bomb goes off right next to him again because the parent didn't choose Jason. And instead tried finding an option that'd benefit them and (consequencely) letting the Joker walk, again, lol, lmao <-in agony

[Day 26]: Groups and collabs! [WIP]

Grrrr i dont have the time to finish this today :( have the idea & the line art instead, ill post the finished one once its done! (I'll prob do the other hermitaday challenges first tho, so it might take a while)

Obscura boys 3d model notes/process 😝😝

With the final dude created and this little project coming to a close I thought it'd be fun to put together a little overview with some of my thoughts about each one

Up first we got Oleander

I decided to do oleander first because I knew he would be the most annoying. And he was. Though I'm not sure if that's moreso because of him or because he was the third vroid model I made ever. He definitely took the longest but I also think he turned out really nice 😋 as long as you ignore his jacket clipping through itself every time he moves

4/10 overall experience

After oleander I made Keir because he is boring. because his black and brown color pallet and practical fashion sense seemed like a nice pallette cleanser. Though I never could've imagined just HOW FUCKING ANNOYING HIS GIANT BOOBS WERE OH MY GOD TRYING TO DRAW STRAIGHT LINES ACROSS HIS MASSIVE HONKERS WAS A NIGHTMARE THEY WARP AND DEFORM EVERYTHING WITHIN A 10 MILE RADIUS‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️ also his hair was super annoying but it was doable. He probably took the least amount of time all together but I kept putting it off so it took way longer

6/10 overall experience

After Keir I made Francesco because I asked on the discord who I should make next and 1 person said Fran 😎😎😎 he went pretty fast I felt, maybe it was because I was getting the hang of vroid finally or maybe it's cause I was listening to Pinkerton. it all went pretty well except for THAT STUPID FUCKING MIDDLE PART OH MY GOD YOU WOULDN'T THINK IT WOULD BE BUT IT WAS THE WORST HAIRSTYLE I HAD TO MAKE HANDS DOWN NO COMPETITION AND THEN WHEN I CONVERTED HIM TO PMX ALL THE PHYSICS WERE WHACK AND HE LOOKED LIKE HE HAD HORRIBLE STATIC CLING SO I HAD TO FIX HIS HAIR AND EXPORT HIM A SECOND TIME‼️‼️‼️‼️ but other than that he was smooth sailing and very polite

8/10 overall experience

And last but not least Cirrus

Ok I think I cheated for this one.. Like there's this vtuber named Pallas in the discord who already made Cirrus assets for vroid and they graciously let me use them so I didn't have to make the scarf, the shoes, or that dangly charm thing he has which are all the hardest parts so all I really did was make the hair, the mask, and the robe which I did lickety split😝😝😝 I'm not complaining though

She was the second vroid model I made ever and she has the jank to prove it 😎😎😎 but without her the other dudes would not exist because what's the point of making 4 boyfriends if there isn't somebody for them to be 4 boyfriends for. And I guess I also learned a lot about making textures and using the hair tool and vroid in general and the separate program that can make textures transparent even though I didn't use it for any of the obscura dudes

I don't really have anything to say about her process besides making your own ocs is a cakewalk compared to characters you didn't make because you know what their back looks like even if you haven't drawn it

Guys this AU I literally just created has already infested my brain. I must yap my extremely vague ideas of it.

It’s a horror AU so uh… warning for that kind of stuff? Also another warning for this being the goofiest AU ever (and its still a WIP so a bunch of things could change and I still actually do need to add more- so don’t take any of this as if it’s gonna stay in the AU forever)

Ok so when I normally think about this AU, I think of RPG/Visual Novel-styled games? Or like Undertale? Yk what I mean. I’m taking some inspo off of Mad Father, Mario The Music Box, etc too. So if you see me describing anything like it’s a video game (saying “you as [character]”, etc.) that’s why😭 this most likely won’t be made into an actual game sadly </3

I barely have a plot for it rn, I just know they get teleported to some other dimension thing? and there’s a mansion (obvi) they have to escape ?? But I do know what happens to some characters (Like Amy :D)! I’m thinking of maybe some unexpected ones could team up (because, if you didn’t know, I have a this weird obsession with rare character dynamics and relationships) like Tails and Blaze? Because you barely see them together.

I don’t know all the characters that are gonna be in the AU yet, but I’m thinking of Sonic (WHICH ISN’T DEAD OR EVIL FOR ONCE IN A HORROR AU! LET’S GOOOO!!! He suffers with his friends instead of making them suffer himself), Tails Doll, Amy, Knuckles, Blaze, Silver, Shadow, Rouge, maybe even Cream?

I only have some characters sort of planned, so I’ll be talking abt those.

Sonic:

He cries has a panic attack and a breakdown (all in separate moments) for the first time in a while lmao

Anyways, I know at some point she’s left alone, possibly abandoned (that’s what she assumes anyway) in the garden after choices you make as another character(probably Sonic) (jk cs this isn’t a video game but i did explain this at the start), and since I hc her with AMAZING abandonment issues…❤️

Of course there’s monsters and entities in this, so one of them possibly takes control of Amy? Or tries to, until YOU, AS SILVER, GO TO THE GARDEN AND FIND HER!! There, you’re left with a choice (a bunch of stuff happen prior to this btw, this isn’t at the start of the story):

I guess he got transported with the others to this dimension. Yeah- he hurts his foot somehow, not sure how yet. Definitely from an entity tho.

First thing he does it try to find if anyone else is here. So… he does just that. He enters the weird giant ahh mansion infront of him and calls out for anyone. He explores a ton, finding important objects, a weird doll that looks oddly familiar which he decides to just ignore and leave there, and also hurts his foot as yk- He does reunite with Blaze for a moment, though they’re immediately separated by obvi another monster.

He gets thrown back outside the mansion, into the garden. In that garden? Well yk what he finds😭

Blaze:

Fun fact: it was this doodle that started this whole thing !!

Also dont have much for Blaze, but she’s the first I doodled so I’ll be trying to make stuff up abt her in this (maybe on the spot even)

She’s confused why she can’t teleport back to Sol or anywhere else. Or why she can’t escape this mansion-place-thing. Actually they’re all confused abt that but wtv- Using her pyrokinesis, she can light torches and other things so she can see in darker areas. She can also just light her hand up too, but this takes energy from her ^_^

At some point, she reunites with Silver!! Then they’re separated by another monster. He was thrown into the garden, while she was thrown into a dark room.

In that room, she finds a doll. It looks a lot like Tails for some reason…?

She’s weirded out and judging it (I would too)

If she grabs it, she notices how real it feels? Like it actually feels like Tails… which is creepy. SUDDENLY IT TRIES ATTACKING HER (LOL?) BUT—

—before she has time to process anything, Tails pushes her out of the way (she notices his ear is missing) and points his arm cannon to…

….whatever that is.

Am I being cringy? Yes. Do i care? …honestly kinda, yeah- but I’m not gonna let myself do anything abt it

I don’t have much else with her. They fight it and become a silly duo and uhhh yeah-

Cream:

No art yet, but she’s definitely appearing now. Uhh I know she find the doll (btw I’m refusing to call it “Tails Doll” bc THEY’RE NOT THE SAME! I PROLLY SHOULDN’T HAVE CHOSEN TAILS THEN BUT IDC..) at some point and it tricks her into thinking it’s good. So like she drags it around while she explores, trying to find Amy or anyone.

This is a horror AU someone has to die right—

Idk if I’m killing her off or not but I might??

Tails:

Also no art yet (other than the one with Blaze I already showed), but basically he was with Sonic when they entered. Bunch of stuff in between happen, they get stuck in a room, Sonic watches the monster-thing literally rip Tails’s ear off and make a fking doll out of it bc it was feeling a lil quirky (well they do get quirky at night /ref), Sonic then believes Tails is dead, meanwhile Tails literally tried escaping and ended up all the way on the other end of this giant goofy mansion—

no because ive watched this stupid show 5 years ago, and i only noticed this now?? how???

ok. some context first. this is about fox' gotham, a prequel series to batman. or at least a potential one with slight changes. one of those changes is the relationship between oswald cobblepot and edward nygma (spelled with a 'y' for mayhap legal reasons? idfk its silly). whats their relationship like in the show? well...

theyre gay af. idk what to tell you.

okay so oswalds gay as fuck. edwards... ambiguous. totally ambiguous. he had a girlfriend or 2 and a half (kristen kringle, the-woman-who-shall-not-be-named (aka kristen but... blonde? this show is weird), and lee. not comfy counting lee, but technically shes one, hence the 'and a half')! very straight, much hetero (on another side note how tf is oswald the gay one, like i know he wears make-up and shit but eddies all about theatrics and showmanship and flair and hOW IS OSWALD THE GAY ONE NEXT TO HIM?? ok anyway).

so oswald was (is. be real.) canonically in love with ed, ed was.........., and 'penguin in love' is a piece of music composed by david russo for season three in which the whole "im in love with my best friend" thing took place.

that song has been used all over season three, as far as i can tell not once in season four, and once in season five.

.....or so i thought.

because yesterday, while in another obsession phase (of which i get one a few times a year. ive only ever watched the show once, in 2019, when it ended. still dream about nygmobblepot though. i dont dream about media, like ever, but with them, its different), i saw 5x8 to satiate my never satisfied craving of nygmob scenes, obviously skipping the main story bc i dont care about that straight shit. i got to the scene where oswald kills mr. scarface and frees arthur penn from said mr. scarface, after which ed shoots him in the head because thats what one does in such a situation, thought "aw how cute", again, as one does, and then realised.

what was that background music just now? rewinds.... oh. oh haha, its 'penguin in love'. how fun.

WHAT.

WHY IS THAT IN THERE. WHY DID THEY INCLUDE IT.

correction. it wouldve made sense to have it here. they used it in 5x5 for the speech about not backstabbing each other (wedding vows for murderers fr fr), so using it again after their relationship has solidified wouldve made sense.

note how im saying 'would have'.

because it would have made sense, if they used it when ed said "i accept you for the person that you are, just as you accept me for the cold logician that i am. thats why this friendship is great." they didnt, though. they used another equally heartfelt song for that. dunno what its called, it sounds a bit like 'penguin in love' but isnt, not sure if that one has a specific meaning like 'penguin in love' does.

so when was the song used? at 36:08 – 36:17. barely ten seconds, right before eds lines, right before ed kills penn.

...right when penn was sitting in oswalds lap because theyd been fighting for the gun and os fell on the ground.

now. the most obvious answer to "why in the fucking hell" would be because ooh this dudes on his lap so sexy, but no. no. 'penguin in love' is about one specific thing: love. the pure kind. the kind that makes you giddy with butterflies in your stomach, kicking your legs, while youre on your bed, writing in your diary about this guy you have a crush on. and oswald and penn do have history, oswald was more or less fond of penn, but not in love (i mean where would he have found the room in his heart if it was already filled with EDWARD EDWARD EDWARD martin my sweet boy EDWARD EDWARD EDWA-). im also definitely not thinking that penn was so happy about being free from mr. scarfaces influence and not having to kill oswald (oh yeah, the horror. who would wanna kill oswald, the guy with the big ego, who never does anything for anyone without some kind of endgoal- well, unless your name is edward of course) that he instantly fell in love with the guy. i can deal with the homicidal kind of crazy, but that? no. thats where i draw the line.

the next most obvious answer is that it was about oswalds love for ed. more believable, since its what the song was made for, but more believable doesnt mean believable. or likely. because even if i 100% believe that hes been loving this dude for so long its not something he has to think about anymore for it to be true, im pretty sure that itd be very random to suddenly focus on that when oswald was just about to die. so no, even if its what the song is intrinsically about.

so next most obvious answer is- wait. thats it. huh? theres no obvious answer anymore? everything else is brainrot? oh. oh well. its been five years, im sure its too late to worry about it now. what the hell.

im sure you know where im going with this. or maybe not. honestly idk what the fuck im talking about-

ed has always been the obsessive one. first kristen (and the woman who shall not be named is just an extention of that ofc), then oswald, then lee. and as weve seen with kristen, when hes obsessed with someone, he can become possessive. absolutely not on the scale oswald is on, but still. theres a wee bit of jelly there. oh you have a boyfriend? better get rid of him! oh you wanna run away from me bc i murdered your boyfriend? better keep you right in place and- oh shit did i kill you? ono D:

this is a huge oversimplification, but you get the point. its there. or at least it has to be there because why else do you get so angy that someone is sitting in the lap of your just friend because they were fighting and they ended up in that position totally accidentally? like thats not normal behaviour, for anyone, unless you have possessive tendencies.

i mean its not like penn was a threat in any way. "he wasnt the threat, the dummy was the-" like i understand ed told penn about the submarine which was supposed to be a secret, but come on, like they couldnt make sure penn wouldnt say anything. so why would ed shoot him? its not even like penn was a random dude where that type of thing would be very inconsequential, oswald knew him. hed worked for oswald, and like i said, oswald was more or less fond of the guy. penns just a poor little meow meow, y u kil him eddie? 🥺

unless this fondness was part of the problem. unless ed saw how happy oswald was to see him, got annoyed but let it slide, then used penn attacking os and knowing about the sub as an excuse to kill him. and why would oswald being happy to see penn be a problem to ed? it wouldnt be. it wouldnt be, unless ed thinks oswald is his.

which makes sense. i know im calling him names and calling him out, but like. oswald told him he loved him like 5 times 2 years prior, i dont blame him for believing that maybe theres something to it (especially since that was the point of 3x14, oswald really being in love with him and surprising himself with it). but i thought ed didnt feel the same way? because hes very hetero? because he had a full-on girlfriend before, twice, technically? because-

hm. i know this is a bit off topic, but i just got a war-flashback and... why did ed sound so hurt when he said that? "youll never change." "you would sacrifice anyone. even me." why does he care? they were friends, best friends, yes, but why does he sound like a heartbroken wife who just found out her husband cheated on her again? why does-

"honestly you deserve this. you are opportunistic, your loyalty is.. shaking, at best, and you will hurt anyone, anyone, to get what you want."

...why would edward nygma, the man who literally said "i dont love you" to oswald, be jealous of even the idea that maybe penn could have something going on with oswald? and why would he act on it if hes usually so careful to not reveal his feelings (unless its about kristen. the original obsession, the american dream, the just be normal, show them you are normal, and people will accept you)? he wouldnt.

unless oswald just told him that he knows he messed up. that hes sorry for it.

and unless that made him think that maybe theres a chance.

so maybe 'penguin in love' is about more than just oswalds feelings. maybe they were trying to tell us that, yes, we see you traumatised gay kid, were sorry this is all we can give you, but here you go, eds in love with him too, but don’t tell the channel. subtlely. just for barely ten seconds. and maybe it can be enough.

nope, it wont be. im gonna sit here crying about the injustice of not having them kiss on screen in the finale as was originally intended for the rest of my life. seriously though, what is this, nbc's hannibal, where im noticing something new details every single time i watch the show, causing me to spiral? no, i was already spiralling. the spiralling was the reason i rewatched the scene. the scene simply made it worse.

so yeah, im done freaking out about a mediocre show that was cancelled 5 years ago and is honestly not worth anyones time (like, its ok. it might even be better than i remember since its been so long. i doubt it. but its ok).

tl;dr: ive only now realised that a specific gay song plays in a specific episode of a show i watched 5 years ago and the only reason theyd include it in the episode is if the dude that was not canonically in love with the other dude was in fact gay, they just werent allowed to make it canon, so they added the gay song to subtlely tell us about it.
